Segipaul: A cone in unstable equilibrium has it's potential energy A. Decreased B. Increased C. Unchanged D. Oscillating my textbuk and d jamb past questns answer contradicts each other. Textbuk ans-A. Decreased.....reason is: potential energy decreases as the height decreases jamb past questn ans- B. Increases....reason is: The height of the centre of gravity of a body in unstable equilibrium is usually raised. Hence P.E increases. Pls which is the right ans? one thing I know for sure is that P.E increases with height while K.E increases with velocity. However, The cone with unstable equilibrium has a high potential(stored energy waiting to be released) to move farther from it's initial position when released/tilted/displaced |

Thewhizzkid1: ALRIGHT SIR. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE EXPLANATION.WE LEARN EVERYDAY. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE INFORMATION IN THIS SITE http://www.grammar-monster.com/lessons/than_I_me_than_he_him.htm IT SAYS "THAN ME" IS ALSO CORRECT. BUT WHEN USING "THAN I", WE SHOULD PUT IT IN A FULL SENTENCE TO AVOID AMBIGUITY. e.g "John is taller than I am" instead of "John is taller than I"...Please check d site. Mathefaro please check d site also. lol! Why do you want me to check it out? I actually decided not to post on the matter. The truth is that this is not the first time i've engaged in arguments on this same context and i've realised that people are only willing to stick to what they've read in a textbook or what their teacher taught them. I have LOTS of references that backs up the fact that the use of "me" in this context is very correct albeit for informal speech only. One of the references is the OALD. Just check out the USAGE section of the word "me" in the Oxford advanced Learners Dictionaries. It settles everything. We all need to know that the language evolve everyday and we must always update ourselves not for exam purposes only |

tuwayz: Find the value of k if y-1 is a factor of y^3+4y^2+ky-6 since y - 1 is a factor if f(y), then f(1) = 0. Which means substituting 1 for y in the given function and equating it to 0. Thus, we have 1 3 + 4(1) 2 + k(1) - 6 = 0 ==> 1 + 4 + k - 6 = 0 ==> k - 1 = 0 K = 1 |

Thank you the point common to the lines 2x - y = 4 and x + y = 2 is (2, 0) which is a solution if the simultaneous equation. Hence, the distance between the points (4,3) and (2,0) using the formula sqrt( (x2 - x1) 2 + (y2 - y1) 2) ==> sqrt((2-4) 2 + (0-3) 2) ==> sqrt((-2) 2 + (-3) 2) ==> sqrt(4 + 9) ==> sqrt(13) = 3.6 units |

princessdebbby: although I understand all ur soln but for d no 1 I want to knw y u divided by 5/18 inorder to convert to m/s. I believe you understand the fact that we had to convert the km/h to m/s, then You also need to understand that 1 km/h = 1000m/3600s and if you simplify that by cutting with 200, you'll get 5/18, I.E 1km/h = 5/18 m/s, hence to convert from km/h to m/s, just multiply by 5/18 For no 2 I want to knw y we can't just solve straight by usin d=vt cos if I use dz formular I wil get 180 rada dan 90. you simply can't do that because the body is accelerating uniformly, so the velocity is constantly changing starting from 0(rest) until it finally gets to v, assuming, the body is moving with a uniform velocity v, then You can apply that formula of yours(s = vt) directly. I think you need to go through the velocity-time graph concept. Nd 4 no 4 whr did u arrive at d formula v=u-gt..thanx Any time a body moves Uber the influence of gravity(dropped from a height or thrown/projected vertically upwards) the S in the normal equations of linear motion changes to "h" while a changes to +g( dropping objects, since they're moving with/towards gravity) or -g(vertically projected objects, since they're moving against gravity) therefore, the normal equation v = u + at changes to v = u + gt for dropping objects or v = u - gt for objects projected vertically. Likewise V 2 = u 2 + 2as changes into V 2 = u 2 + 2gh and V 2 = u 2 - 2gh. I hope you understand it now. |
