Education / Study Math Easily :mobile App That Solves Math Equations With Your Phone Camera by matrixx9(m): 2:07pm On Oct 23, 2014 |
Need a little help getting through your next big math exam? MicroBlink has an app that could help you study more effectively -- perhaps too effectively. Its newly unveiled PhotoMath for iOS and Windows Phone (Android is due in early 2015) uses your smartphone's camera to scan math equations and not only solve them, but show the steps involved. Officially, it's meant to save you time flipping through a textbook to check answers when you're doing homework or cramming for a test. However, there's a concern that this could trivialize learning -- just because it shows you how to solve a problem doesn't mean that the knowledge will actually sink in. And if teachers don't confiscate smartphones at the door, unscrupulous students could cheat when no one is looking. The chances of that happening aren't very high at this stage, but apps like this DOWNLOAD THE APP FROM THE SOURCE OF THIS ARTICLE SOURCE : http://..com/2014/10/photomath-uses-your-phone-camera-to.html |

Politics / Bomb Blast At Bauchi Bus Station Kills Five, 12 Others Injured by matrixx9(m): 10:24am On Oct 23, 2014 |
A bomb exploded at a bus station in northern Nigeria's Bauchi state late on Wednesday, killing at least five people and wounding 12, police said. The blast, which struck the town of Azare, is likely to be blamed on Islamist Boko Haram militants, casting further doubt on government reports that it had reached a temporary ceasefire with the rebels in order to secure the release of more than 200 schoolgirls they are holding hostage. Police did not comment on who was behind the attack. The insurgents have repeatedly bombed public places since they launched an uprising demanding an Islamic state in religiously mixed Nigeria five years ago. They have stepped up their campaign this year, setting off deadly blasts across the country. "Five persons burned beyond recognition were certified dead, while 12 others sustained various degrees of injuries," Bauchi police spokesman Haruna Mohammed said in a statement. "The entire surrounding (area) has been cordoned off ... No arrest has yet been made, but an investigation has commenced." Nearly a week after the government announced a ceasefire deal with Boko Haram, which it said would include the release of the girls kidnapped from the secondary school in Chibok in northeastern Nigeria in April, there is still no sign of them being freed. A number of attacks has raised doubts over the ceasefire, although Boko Haram is so factionalised it is possible a truce has been reached with one group, while others continue with violence. Talks to release the schoolgirls are taking place this week between the government and a Boko Haram representative in the Chadian capital N'Djamena, but they are shrouded in secrecy. A Chadian diplomat told Reuters that a deal could still be reached if this faction has ultimate control over the girls -- although analysts say that could be divided between several cooperating factions. Boko Haram, which only communicates messages via jihadist videos of a man claiming to be its leader Abubakar Shekau, has not yet commented on the alleged ceasefire source: http://..com.es/2014/10/bomb-blast-at-bus-station-kills-five-in.html |

Religion / Pastor Chris’ Daughter Rejects Him, Supports Her Mum On Divorce by matrixx9(m): 11:16pm On Oct 21, 2014 |
A decision is set to be announced on the divorce suit filed by Anita Oyakhilome against her husband Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, the President of Christ Embassy church. Funny enough, the couple’s first daughter Sharon Oyakhilome has decided to take sides, supporting her mum against her father, Pastor Chris. She took to Twitter to post a cryptic message which seemingly appears to support her mother’s divorce decision. Her tweets appear to be similar to the case Rev. Anita Oyakhilome cited in the divorce papers where she stated that her husband had been away for the most part of their marriage. In Defence of Anita Oyakhilome the FRustrated Wife: “Anita Oyakhilome, the frustrated wife of Nigeria’s most flamboyant preacher, Chris Oyakhilome has obviously passed through 15 years of adulterous endurance and what she needs is our prayers and protective respect and defense of her choices to forget all the anti- rhapsody of heartbreak she endured all these years.Fifteen (15) years of being abandoned by a preacher husband is not an easy way of lifefor a preacher’s wife. Fifteen (15) years of hearing that some mini skirted daughters of Jezebel have taken over your possession is not a joke. Fifteen years of a husband not staying with the wife for up to a week on a stretch, while spending time with some double breasted figure eight(ed) daughters of eve is not an easy thing to swallow. 15 years of being used as a showcase to make church members believe in Rhapsodies of Blissful Union, while dying in silence,is not a palatable experience for any woman. Fifteen years of being called Mama, Mummy, and other glorified names of Senior Pastor’swife while some domestic harems sneer at the same Mummy behind is not a sweet experience. For goodness sake, this woman never probably had a good kiss in fifteen years and yet she is being accused of carnality for crying out loud. She was continually being led into temptation of seeking for s*xual satisfaction from outside for fifteen years and she managed to escape the traps of sin. Fifteen years when their two lovely daughters would wake up and ask their mother why Dad had not cared to visit, and she would have to release a lie to stave off the frequent probing questions. Above all, fifteen years when Anita had to fake that all is well with their marriage, while she is actually dying emotionally. Every person she complained to among the pastoral cadre sided with the man, and she was left alone to bear her cross. I warned some pastor friends with Christ Embassy early 2013 that they had better settle this marriage rift between Oga and his wife before it destroys the church. The same pastors have called me to express regret that a national embarrassment has ensued. This woman has been called Jezebel by some pastors and members of the church. Some claimed she was disrespectful while others claimed she was always bitter of recent. They have tried to castigate her before members of the church who came in private to ask for the way out. She was described as unreasonable and insubordinate. Her husband, according to news reports has even followed to cast her in bad light. According to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, “Bitterness is prolonged and accumulate danger. My wife is always angry and bitter,” Going further he told his members to “Be careful of the friends you keep. My wife keeps friends who bring out the worst in her and help her see the worst in people, instead of keeping friends that will help her vision, especially as the wife of a global pastor like me.”Please, which preacher woman who has been abandoned for fifteen years will not be bitter and angry? Was Anita expected to clap and dance while some hot legs are parading around the White House? This pastor’s wife was also disclaimed by her husband who told his congregants in reaction to the divorce saga that Anita is not necessarily a Woman of God.According to Pastor Oyakhilome “Don’t act like those people. If you are married to a man of God, it doesn’t make you automatically mature. You can make mistakes; you can do something that is wrong. But some people expect the wife of a minister to definitely be at the level of that minister and so they may be looked upon and the expectation may be like that, but it’s a positional thing”.He clarified his theory by saying that “If a man of God is married, it doesn’t automatically mean that the wife of a man of God is therefore a woman of God. “That’s not the way it is in the Bible.” Pastor Chris also added that “That’s why you don’t really find the wives of men of God mentioned in the Bible. How many of them? Who was Peter’s wife, did you ever know her name? You never find that out. Who was John’s wife? Did you ever read the name? What about all theother Apostles? How many of their names are written in the Bible. You never find their names.” Anita Oyakhilome actually proved that she has fear of God in the manner she worded her divorce plea. She opted to use the word “inappropriate relationship with female staff members” instead of out rightly accusing her husband of adultery.According to the statement, “the wife has discussed with the husband his appropriate relationship with some of his female staff members. She has explained that this has given her cause for concern. The husband has minimised her worries and taken no step to alleviate her grievances.” Anita Oyakhilome could have said that her husband abandoned her and ran into the arms of sister A or B, or gospel singer C or D and left her roasting and murmuring in the house. Anita could have said that her husband is a hypocrite who says a thing and means another, but she veiled her grievances of years of abandonment by saying in the divorce file that “The wife feels that she has been used to portray and enhance the husband’s image as a family man when the reality is that there is no existing relationship between them. She feels that she has been present for official functions simply for his convenience. On occasions she has been copied into his travel itinerary which has been given to him by his staff on a need to know basis”. “The wife has tried to discuss her concernswith the husband. He claims that she is carnal and he is insensitive to her feelings and her needs.” Thus Anita had acted with much restraint in order to preserve the integrity of Christ Embassy and the work of evangelism, and all she got for her discretion was hate messages all many sections of church members who wanted her to sacrifice her marriage to keep them in a rhapsody of deceit. This woman, according to the testimony of many British residents who attend their church, is one person who is always willing to give gifts to the needy. She is ever ready to counsel people and does not breed class. She is a patient listener who laboriously introduced many things in the church for which the glory goes to her husband. Londoners believe that she is not that demon theywant to portray her as. Those who know her closely have attested to an affectionate good naturedness and stickler for details. Whatsoeverthing some misguided church members want to think, Anita had lived a lie formany years. Anita was said to have became born again at believers Loveworldcampus fellowship at Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, while Chris was thepastor. She had probably paid her dues as a Christian and knows what it is todeceive the congregation. She cannot deceive herself and the church anymorethus she opted for divorce. Divorce, according to scripture is unbiblical, but between deceiving a congregation that already knows the truth but pretends otherwise and staying in unfulfilled marriage, which is better. It is a matter between her and her conscience. Last year, a Nigerian personality blogger by name Ese Walter was lured by her Senior Pastor in Abuja into a cozy hotel bed space in London and after two weeks of adultery, the man cleaned up, returned to Nigeria and told his congregation to shout some Hallelujah. The sin partner was arrested by the Holy Spirit and she sought a meeting with the COZA Chief to resolve the burden of guilt. She was continually shunned and described as agent of satan even by other senior pastors in the church until she turned the internet into the confessional. Ese Walter freed her conscience and probably escaped eternal damnation but the entire Christendom took the brunt of the exposure. Anita has chosen to free herself from a life of deceit and lies. The truth had set her free. However, I still counsel her that if the misbehaving preacher husband demonstrates a verifiable change of heart, she should consider him back and so that somebody can shout some more Hallelujah. Fifteen years of adulterous endurance in the midst of charismatic rhapsody is not easy and Anita Oyakhilome sure needs all the defense and understanding she can get- Let somebody shout a better Hallelujah!” SOURCE: http://..com.es/2014/10/pastor-chris-daughter-rejects-him.html?m=1 |
Politics / President Jonathan Addresses Nigerians As W.H.O Declares Nigeria Ebola Free by matrixx9(m): 11:04pm On Oct 21, 2014 |
This is what Mr President Posted On his Facebook Page. " Yesterday, Nigeria was declared Ebola free by the World Health Organization, (WHO). The declaration is an attestation to the Nigerian Can Do Spirit. It is also a clear demonstration of the many possibilities of our Nation. With us as a people, united under God, there is nothing we cannot achieve when we stand together behind an objective. Unity is the secret weapon Nigeria used against the Ebola Virus Disease and nothing shall be impossible for a united Nigeria. I congratulate and thank all Nigerians on this great feat. I want to also specially thank the governments and peoples of Lagos, Rivers and Enugu states, the first responders who treated the index cases. To all the thirty six state governors who united with the Federal Government to rid Nigeria of this scourge I also say a big thank you. Although we have been declared free of Ebola we must however, remain vigilant as the Ebola virus is still on rampage in neighboring Sister Countries. We cannot afford to let down our guard when there is still Ebola pain in our subregion. In this regard we will spare no resource in supporting our neighbors in the battle to contain this deadly scourge. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Phones / Asian Students Create Battery That Charges For 15 Minutes But Lasts For 20 Years by matrixx9(m): 10:32pm On Oct 17, 2014 |
This really sounds unbelievable but it's quite true. Charging your phone battery can be inconvenient and take awhile , but what if you could get a proper power refueling in just a few minutes? Scientists at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore say they developed a lithium-ion battery that can go from zero to 70% power capacity in two minutes. Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in phones and tablets. Perhaps even more importantly, the battery lasts much longer than the ones we have now, an attribute that could boost the electric car industry, developers said. The new battery is supposed to last for 10,000 cycles, a lifespan estimated at two decades and more than 10 times longer than what we're used to. In contrast, Apple says its phone batteries are designed to "retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles." Generally, the more you recharge a battery, the more it loses its luster over time. The breakthrough here is with the battery's anode or negative pole, which traditionally works with graphite. The graphite is replaced with a newly developed gel made from an "abundant, cheap and safe" material called titanium dioxide that's found in soil. It's also an active ingredient in sunscreen . The researchers were able to morph the spherically- shaped titanium dioxide into tubular strands that are 1,000-times thinner than a human hair. The gel speeds up reactions taking place inside the new battery, propelling the hyper-fast recharging. The researchers think the battery's most important impact will be on the electric car industry . Potential adopters can be turned off by the long recharge times and shorter battery lifespans for electric vehicles. With this battery, however, recharging your car — timewise — wouldn't be so far off from filling up a tank a gas. It should take about five minutes to give you enough power to get back on the road and 15 minutes for a full charge, the researchers said in a statement . Replacement batteries for electric cars are costly , too, with some priced at more than $5,000. Another benefit is that it would cut down on waste resulting from battery disposals. When talking about "breakthroughs" for battery technology, expectations can be very high. Don't treat this as consumer reality just yet, but it's good to know that scientists are trying to make batteries more efficient. Developers expect the new batteries to hit the market in the next two years. Source: http://..com/2014/10/apple-creates-battery-that-charges-for.html |

Phones / Apple Introduces The New Ipadair 2 And Ipad Air 3 by matrixx9(m): 8:14pm On Oct 17, 2014 |
Update: Apple’s specs page for the iPad mini 3 says that it has the A7 processor, not the new A8 that debuted in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. This year’s small form-factor tablet from Apple is called the iPad mini 3, dropping the distinction between the original iPad mini and last year’s mini with Retina. It’s got the same A7 system-on-a-chip as last year’s model (as opposed to the beefier A8X in the new iPad Air 2 ). Like its bigger sibling, the iPad mini 3 receives Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint scanner and will come with iOS 8.1, meaning you’ll be able to use it with Apple Pay for online purchases. There’s also a new pricing scheme for the iPad mini, impacted by the fact that Apple will continue to sell the original iPad mini, as well as last year’s Retina model. The price of entry for the iPad lineup is now only $249 (if you’re willing to use 2-year-old hardware), but it also means you can get last year’s A7-powered Retina wonder for only $299. As with the new iPhones and the iPad Air 2, the new iPad mini 3 will be available in three tiers, priced by storage: 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. Health / Alarm As Man Travelling From Nigeria To U.S Dies During Flight by matrixx9(m): 6:30am On Oct 17, 2014 |
A plane from Nigeria landed at JFK Airport Thursday with a male passenger aboard who had died during the flight after a fit of vomiting — and CDC officials conducted a “cursory” exam before announcing there was no Ebola and turning the corpse over to Port Authority cops to remove, Rep. Peter King said on Thursday. The congressman was so alarmed by the incident — and by what he and employees see as troubling Ebola vulnerabilities at JFK — that he fired off a letter to the federal Department of Homeland Security demanding more training and tougher protocols for handling possible cases there. The unnamed, 63-year-old passenger had boarded an Arik Air plane out of Lagos, Nigeria, on Wednesday night, a federal law enforcement source said. During the flight, the man had been vomiting in his seat, the source said. Some time before the plane landed, he passed away. Flight crew contacted the CDC, federal customs officials and Port Authority police, who all boarded the plane at around 6 a.m. as about 145 worried passengers remained on board, the source said. “The door [to the terminal] was left open, which a lot of the first responders found alarming,” said the source. “My understanding was that the passenger was vomiting in the seat,” King (R-LI) said. “The CDC went on the plane, examined the dead body and said the person did not have Ebola,” King said. “It was what I was told a cursory examination. The Port Authority cops and personnel from Customs and Border Protection were there, and they were told there was no danger because the person did not have Ebola,” King said. “But their concern was, how could you tell so quickly? And what adds to the concern is how wrong the CDC has been over the past few weeks.” Between 70 and 100 passengers a day arrive at JFK from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, the three West African countries that are the epicenter of the outbreak, King said. “These individuals transit the airport with the rest of the traveling population, including using the restrooms,” King wrote to Jeh Johnson, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, in a letter Thursday. “Only after they arrive at the Customs and Border Patrol primary screening location that they are separated and sent to secondary inspection for a medical check and to complete the questionnaire,” he wrote Johnson. King’s letter demands that Homeland Security immediately beef up protocols for what happens to potentially infected passengers in flight and at the terminal itself, prior to their reaching the screening location. The letter also demands that training and safety equipment improve for the Port Authority police and Customs and Border Patrol officials who can come into contact with high-risk passengers. “I believe there should be a suspension of direct flights and connecting flights from these three countries,” King said. “And maybe anyone with a visa from those countries, and who has been living in those countries, should be barred” from entering the US, he added. No other information was immediately available about the deceased Nigerian passenger. Nigeria is 1,000 miles east of the three West African countries suffering from an Ebola outbreak, but has had 19 confirmed cases of the deadly virus. The country has had no new cases over the past month; the World Health Organization has said that if there are still no new cases of Ebola by Monday, they will officially declare the country “Ebola-free.” Source: http://..com.es/2014/10/alarm-in-us-as-vomiting-passenger-dies.html |
