alosiby92: I think you need to change the title of this thread...its kind of misleading...I presume you were expecting some sort of story account of me falling in love with a girl named smantha. Thanks title tweaked ... @bolded that's one of the main questions but not the core focus of the thread. |

I have always been a fan of artificial intteligence. I look forward to a world where computers feel touch and smell like humans. A world where they can interact like a person. Where they have emotions, can care and think like us. This morning I stumbled on a piece about a movie called "her". That tells the story of a man, that fell in love with an operating system (computer) called samantha. The trailer so caught my attention I decided to share it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne6p6MfLBxc After watching the trailer i did some thinking asking my self. Can one actually fall in love with an OS. I know most of us would say no. But the fact is that majority of us have once fallen in love with an Online persona which I would liken to an OS. Who says that person you are currently trippinng for is not a computer virus or higend Operatng system that's currently gone rougue from an MIT lab. *just me thinking out loud* I think what am trying to say is that as human we strive for connection, to feel loved and wanted so at times the real world is harsh and seldomly provides us answers to these needs Over time we gradully look up to Technology and mainly the intenet is to help meet this need for intimacy, relying on her to provide us with that perfect partner, that perfect conversation, that perfect friendship but at the cost of making us care less about and enventually losing the imperfect physical partner, imperfect real life conversations and imperfect frendships that surrounds us. Tech has the ability to build a powerful make belive safe and perfect world for us. that with time we forget the beauty of Imperfection that surrounds our daily lifes. Most of us have already fallen in love with an OS in this case an Online persona. One nearly donated her kidney for one, and the other One shed serious tears on his blog when she died. (http://www.techcabal.com/how-royalamebo-catfished-twitter/)... while some are so blind to this fact. Back to my question... Are you currently you in love with a OS in this case online persona aka (user name) If yes why? what makes people prefer the web as a way to connect and fufil the need for intimacy instead of serching for it via their immediated enviroment? Don't you think it's dangerous and might have long term real life pshycological consequences ? ###FOOD FOR THOUGHT #Matthew Briggs. |
I like your personal text " Just an ordinary girl who makes mistakes..." Peck and hug. |
grocery: Love ur post, buh being tooooo over protective is not the right thing.so smone can not even attend a frnds wedding out my state or even attend vigil in another church on my own, to cut it short once you are back from sch(cos am in a private uni)NO MORE GOING OUTThey are not overprotective at all, get this out of your mind. If they don't protect you who will. Have you sat down to consider the fact that they don't know who and the caliber of people you are planning to go see in the other town. Or that they fear, you going to a night vigil, to a church they know little about might expose you to dangers you are too young to see. Instead of ranting... sit down with them and ask them why they would'nt want you go. and one by one try to address their concerns. Also if u are trying to request something from your parent, make them know you have everthing figured out. start by alaying their fears first before you ask for what you want Eg. Dad my best friend Sandra from uni will be getting married next week at so so and so state. For my journey, I have raised so and so amout for my transportation and upkeep. Money which I Saved up from my monthly allowance. I will be leavng very early so i don't arrive late in the night. I will spend 3days and stay at sandra's house. Before i leave please this are the phone no of sandra's parents please do call them and get to know them and do some backgound check. If you have any concerns do let me know. I grateful if you grant me this opportunity to go surport my friend and make her day memorable the above is a sample approach. like i said earlier, it's time to grow up and instead of fighting for ur freedom, focus on earning it. #Mathew Briggs. |
By default parents are protective of there children. Not because they hate them, want to limit them or find it joy caging them. They do this because they love them soo much, because they want the best for them and are afraid they'll get lost and carried away by life due to thier inexperince, naivety and ignorance. They are afraid they'll make terrible mistakes... until you understand this you'll not get the freedom you seek very easy. Freedom is not given it's earned. you'll have to earn your freedom, their respect and trust. I'll use my personal experince as a case study at 12 I earned my freedom. what did i do. I started behaving like an adult. I learnt to take resposiblity for my actions, I toook resposibilty in the home, contributing my best to make sure the house runs well, I took initiative and made suggestions that were useful. I made them understand that "yes i was a kid but with the mind of an adult". I rememeber saving for a whole year and and giving my mum 350N then as my little contribution to the running of the house. It's a really small amt, but it made her understand that I had a sense of responsibilty and cared for them. I got a job by 14. I also learnt to respect their decision while giving them solid reasons why i thought my opinion was better. I reasoned with them instead of been aggresive and rude. I never saw them as my enemies but my confidant, my friend and therefore focused my energy on alaying their fears instead of opposing their decisions. A loving parent is a childs greatest asset, you're lucky you have one. It's time to grow up and instead of fighting for ur freedom, focus on earning it. #Mathew Briggs. |
I once formatted my hardrive 3 times due to the fact that it crashed... I use a software called recuva to get the files out. Once installed use its deep scan feature for effective results. #Mathew Briggs. |

From an other prespective. Who says this glass is half empty and half full, I see a glass that is actually filled up to the brim and even overflowing, it just that it's filled with different elements. It is filled Half way with water and the remaining half with air. I see this glass as a symbol of unity and coexistence... the glass is making itself available as an instrument to house 2 disparate elements that hardly coexist, Air & water and at the same time giving them equal chances to survive. I see a man and woman held together by the beutiful bond of marriage. The water rep the woman, the air represent the man. And the glass the beautiful bond(container) of marriage. And for that marriage to survive transperency, equality and purity of purpose is quite crucial. It should be noted that this bond is as fragile as glass. it's more than a glass of water. it's a symbol. #Matthew briggs |
I see a glass that is in need to be filled and at the same time has some water to quench the thirst of the thirsty. I See transperency, equity and balance. I see purity, tranquility and imperfection. it's more than a glass of water. it's mystery yearning to be solved. |
Congrats to FUTMINNA for a job well done and to IMSU in particular cowleg for putting his best feet forward even as he fought solo. As usual there is always room for improvement. @ cowleg work more on the flow of your points connect them seamlessly, give your arguments stucture and effectively break them down into segments i.e paragraphs. Finish dealing with a premise i.e point before jumping into the next one. @rexsul never forget to cite your sources, and avoid statements that weaken your argument @leebliss13 format your arguement properly, breaking them into paragraphs where neccesary and be less vague, build a solid flow for your arguments. I think you all should work more on your logic and inductive/deductive reasoning skills. Do not make bold statements without citing a reliable source. Try to be more persuasive using stories and closer to home examples that butresses your points. in summary this is a fair outing but more can definitly be done and should be done to improve your writing and debating skills. Best regards. #Mathew briggs... the fire! |
The fact is most women don't really know what they want... it your job as a guy to decipher and read inbtw the lines. Knowing when they want what and at what time... that is if you have the time and she is worth the stress. |
As we wait for the scores... I would like to commed both teams for taking out time to participate in this competition. It's been nice seeing the prespective of Rexsul, Cowleg and Leebliss13 on this interesting, controversial and crucial topic. I wish you giys, more ink to your pen. Moreover, I will send in my appraisal later, Till then ...stay tuned. |
@contestant if I asked you for your "source" please post the web link. Take note |
cowleg: @Mattew briggs, Thank you sir, Once a child is not confine at home 24hours, i don't think parents can control everything a child does, don't forget children pretends alot and hide many things from their parents. So what are finanally agreeing to is that some parents teach wrong to their child contrary to your earlier statement that goes thus... " No parent teaches any wrong lesson to their children |
Double post |
REXSUL you posted >>@bolded...are you also implying that children do not learn faster from how Teachers behave. Secondly are you categorically implying that all a teacher does in your own words is "reads from books to the children what, how and when they should do things" REXSUL you posted >>What is your source for this crucial information, that gives this point more weight? COWLEG you posted>>What certain age are you implying, and are you saying parents can control everything a child does below that age. Secondly what happens in a scenarios whereby a parent introduces a child into a family business where the business involves crime. Does your statement still hold? LEEBLISS13 you posted >>What is your source? LEEBLISS13 you posted >>What happens when a child is raised in an orphanage? Secondly are you supporting a new motion that says "parents are more likely to be blame" or the motion you were assigned which is that "Parents should be held responsible " ... for their school- going children's discipline problems. |
Every person has an angle or a certain pose that fits him or her. You just have to find it. |
The average man wants to leave a leagacy, to leave the world with the knowlege that he at least left something behind that will re echo that fact that he was once here. In the hierarchy of human needs it called achievement. The ish is that the average african man believes leaving a male child behind who he expects to continue his lineage is quite an acheivemmennt. But personally for me I belive the best achievement one can leave is trail of good will, of exploits, of innovation that've gone on to change the lives of many. This i think is a better legacy instead of male child. Be it Boy or Girl they are all special... carefully and beutifully made by the creator. |
LOL... yea I kind of bloomed late. I've been what we call foucused, to even take notice of the fact that women even exists, and the wierd thing is that my profession allows me to interface with very pretty women. But mehn me no send. I built several walls knowingly and unkownignly . until I had to step back and take concious effort to bring these walls down. Its been quite a rewarding experience. My emotional inteligence has skyrocketed. I hold very fun and intresting conversations with women and understand how women think and reason to some extent I never feel like i am a late bloomer... but more like I bloomed at the right time... a time when I am more emotionally stable and relaxed. ![]() |
I can't fall in love. I think maybe due to my deep understanding of what love really means. Love is not sometime you fall into, It's something you grow into. The highest that has ever happened to me is me crushing, been attracted to a persona, fancying or liking someone. But I never make the mistake of thinking I am in love because my friend Love for me is really a strong word. |
Caracta: I already told you to ask someoneWhy are you speaking to your self. ![]() |
