lynpetra: I have come to realize that a lot of Nigerians do not understand that word 'Love'.The word has been so overused, now it has lost not only it's taste, but also its true value.Very well said... Love is something I am yet to fully define. The real form of love is yet an illusion to many. |
Coldplay007: Spectranet na wash.. do not buy Spectranet if you like yourself, there services is bad and customer service is horrible...I use a spectranet in abuja... And its the bomb. There speed and customer care is superb. I am afraid of recommending them to others least so many people come on board the network thereby making their service slow like they did to starcomms. I am that selfish. Please stay away from spectranet. Especially if you are in Abuja.#MathewBriggs |
@OkikiOluwa1 very well said ... |
jotey: guy we need people like you 4 aso rock so DAT we go fit fight tackle boko haram with your strategiesBoko haram na another ball game altogether. Terrorism can be contained but not entirely eliminated. |
I may not be a sports fanatic, or follow closely the exploits of the likes of messi and rolnaldo or understand the schematics of the UEFA champions league or FIFA world cup. But one thing I know is ... I am big fan of the super eagles. I try my best not miss their matches. Her encounter with France was of no exception...4days ago I sat glued to a Tv set for more that 90 minutes hoping and praying we would win that game. But alas we were beating 2-0 ... 2 freaking zero... till today those goals keep replaying in my head. *arrggghhh*. I had two option, to either feel bad for our failure or to see this as one of my numerous learning opportunities and instead focus on deriving insight and inspiration from this depressing encounter. Alas I chose the latter. Below are really key lessons I relearned from that encounter . https://kicksocca.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/fra-vs-nga-2.jpg In the first half we played strong, we shook their defense, we had more ball possession, nearly 80% of people I communicated with during the early phase of the match were positive we would win... but alas with several minute into the second half and few minutes to go, our hopes of moving to the quarter finals were dashed with 2 goals. What surprised me was not the two goals we conceded but France's strategy... It occurred to me that they had been conserving their energy for the latter part of the match, they also tricked us to underestimate them by not coming on strong. At the same time building a very strong defense, so even though we had more ball possession we couldn't score. Now with few minutes to go they started playing with more energy and vigor, their performance and speed increased. To my surprise France started playing world class football, there passes became more sharper, at this juncture our players were already tired plus they were taken unawares by the spike in France performance level given that the French had physiologically made them to underestimate them. I believe France adopted this strategy after watching our march with Argentina paying more attention to how fast we equalized. They knew that they stood a higher chance to score a goal at the tail end of the march leaving the super eagles with no time to equalize after having noticed that we always wear out during the ending period of a match. The strategy was simple Take them by surprise and never give them room to recover. On understanding this I smiled and gave a standing ovation for France. The point is To win you need a strategy not just any strategy a brilliant strategy : We all want to win in life, Win that juicy promotion, Win that scholarship opportunity, Win the heart of the love of our life. we all want to succeed in life ... but have you sat down to build a winning strategy. How you intend to get from where you are to where you want to be, have your understudied your opponents, the risks and challenges you would face on the way and have you built a contingency plan, or do you just live life by chance, moving towards any direction the wind of life pushes you to. You want to excel, who do you need to know, what role are they going to play in your life at what time, what knowledge and insight do you require to get there, what steps are you making to reach for stars. What strategy are you building to outsmart your stumbling blocks. As you build your strategy Stick this into your head, "Brain will always win over might" Just like France beat us using their brain over our might. So it is in life. Design a brilliant strategy that is focused on working smarter instead of harder... As a popular saying goes..." If na by muscle bricklayer for become billionaire " ... Never forget that Smart people never stay poor. The most important battles are fought in the mind: When France gave us the first goal. I could feel how demoralized our players were, they lost their cool and their performance dwindled... It was evident the French didn't just score they damaged their psyche. It was evident our players lost hope... they didn't believe they could equalize. This was evident in the way Osaze carelessly left the ball to go offside which eventually lead to the second goal. The point is there will be moments in life where your faith will be tested, Where you will be put through fire & brimstone. Where the light at the end of the tunnel instead of getting brighter will shut right in your face. You'll feel like there is no need to hope again. In moments like this, It is very crucial you never say never, hope again, never stop believing in miracles, never give up. Because the moment you stop believing, in that same moment you fail before even failing. If possible reach for greatness let your set back inspire you and drive you. Let it make you better. The good thing with this approach is that even if you eventually fail ... You would've have failed with class. Something we did during our encounter with Argentina... We lost by one goal but we still applauded them because they fought to the end... the played good football throughout. Finally it not about how you start but how you end. The end RESULTS is all that matter in life no one freaking cares about how hard you've toiled, how many attempts or shot you made to achieve success, How you started brilliantly all they care about is results, end results. It is evident that 70% of the time we played good football, we had more possession ... we dribbled we were on point but at the end we lost and we lost woefully, we made terrible mistakes. That is all we remember.. the mistakes, Yobo's own goal, Mikels poor performance, Osaze's misjudgement, Enyema's poor judgment that lead to the goals. The world celebrate heroes, they celebrate winners, They never give f*uk about failures... do whatever it takes that is just and within the confines of your conscience ... to freaking succeed. In all be smart and NEVER SAY NEVER. #Mathew Briggs |
lawyer: @posterWord!!! |
Enyeama without him France would've spelt Nigeria... Our defending was poor. My pain was how we easily gave up towards the end and started playing rubbish football. Also how osaze left the ball to go which resulted to the conner kick that lead to the last goal is pissing me off... talkless of yobo's own goal. Damn. |
We started like Eagles but ended like Chickens. How you end matters a lot. Start strong end STRONGER. |
Teespice: Abeg ooooI am around ... good to have you back. obayaya: Matthew's epistles have disappearedIts part of the collateral damage ... The epistles still live on in my fingers. ![]() @ Miracy Happy birthday ... |
@Ty your analysis no work... I really don't have the energy to start drafting a refutal... I know a satirical article when I see one. @OP's piece is faaar from it... this can be seen in comments that op posted to back up her argument. you are just trying to defend what can't be defended and I can help but cringe in awe.. Op is going on to sing a new tune after having been made to see how deeply flawed her logic or premise behind her case for gold digging was ... #I rest my case... |
emmadan: what kind of happiness?are trying to take greed for happiness. They are in pursuit of greed and not happiness ,pls and pls,dnt insult hapiness.@Bolded literaly got me cracking up in laughter |

Caracta: She didn't say money brings happiness, did she?this is what she said Uj_sizzle Why are 'Nigerian women' money conscious?Does it mean they are pursuing the wrong thing. |
uj_sizzle: Lol Matthew Briggs, very smartFinancial security is different from happiness.. To define happpiness I think we should ask the following peeople. >1. The governors wife who was locked up by her husband in the state house, while he philaanders away... it took the intervention of the press to free her. > 2. The women with a husband who beats her black and blue but takes her on a expensive holidays oversees > 3. The beutiful woman who just discovered her banker husband has just infected her with an STD. due to his cheating life style >4. The beuatiful model who is married to a billionair, old enough to be her father. She sleeps arounnd becaus she can't help but feel disappointed every night because he is impotent. Going by your epistle, I think the real issue is that the average Nigerian woman has a twisted sense and manner of pursuing happines. for me caractas post some where on his forum summarizes my thoughts on happpiness.. PS. I replaced the word love with happiness. Caracta#Mathew briggs |
*Scracthes head* From reading this epistle I am made the following deductions. ![]() >Nigerian women are gold diggers because they want to live a happy life. > Nigerian Women believe the richer a man is the more the chances of them been happy with the man because Money can buy happiness (at least in most cases) >The happiness of a Nigerian woman is tied to money. > To get any Nigerian woman including the op. You stand a higher chance if you spend massively on her. > This also means Nigerian women are like properties, commodities that can be bought via proxy i.e give her happiness aka money and you can have her. > This also means as a guy all you have to freaking care about when in a relationship with a Nigerian woman is not her feeling nor her emotional need but how to make money, more money. You can cheat, abuse her, insult her and she will still worship you. > This also means the happiness of a Nigerian women is tied to the Nigerian man. He is like a god who controls her happiness by how much he is willing to spend. > This also mean as a guy you can marry as much women as you want... freaking sleep with the whole neigbohood just make sure you have enough "happiness" to give them. you have no problem. I can go on and on... But my question is as a Nigerian women is this a very good narrative for you. A narrative of dependence and leeching... Is money truly what you see in a man that defines whether you will be happy with him. I cannot answer this question for you. But personally I think women women go after men with money not because they seek happiness like the OP stated but because they seek to live a comfortable life free from worries (at least financial ones), the average women loves a man who can provide her with a sense of financial security .... This I think is a better reason. #Mathew Briggs |
fiizznation: so u r even a pdp apologist?Far from it I am an undecided voter... my vote goes to the best candidate... Candidate with a track record ... like FASHOLA/KWANKWASO if not Its GEJ all the way. |
PapaBrowne: I totally agree with you on the fact that polls are not won on the Internet or the pages of newspaper. And that's why the APC should even have bigger worries because this is their turf. The Internet is where APC usually won elections.@bolded very well said... I use to think APC had a plan to fix nigeria but lately they strike me as a buch of power hungry individuals. Nigerians need change not a bunch of desperate power hungry people. APC give me FASHOLA/KWANKWASO if you truly mean business |
GenBuhari: Why close poll?Sometimes I am appalled by your logic and inability to reason.... I stated earlier this poll is to last for 54 hours which it did... Secondly this poll not been on the front page is upto the Mods to answer... Finally this is not a 100% free system ... You can either live with the results, come up with a better/ feasible idea or continue with your rantings. #Mathew Briggs |
this poll has ended any new likes is null and void. And the winners is announced >> https://www.nairaland.com/1587853/pdp-apc-winner-emerges#20789608 #Mathew briggs |
55 Hours ago I opened a Popularity poll on NL, The reason was to gauge the popularity level of the two major parties on NL. Before I did that I discovered one was already conducted around June 2013 with PDP leading the charts. Today January 10 2014, After 54 Hours of running Nairaland unofficial Popularity poll on this Thread >> https://www.nairaland.com/1584609/vote-party-here-pdp-143 The results were PDP 147 - APC 75 PDP therefore is the winner of this NL popularity poll with 72 votes(likes) nearly double that of APC votes. Congratulation PDP. It is very striking to note that only 58 out of 224 people who took part in the poll are willing to come out to vote on election day and 2 are yet to decided which party to vote. This outcome reemphasize the fact that Elections are not won on Nairaland, but on the streets, by the Market women, the farmer, the aboki with his radio, the patriotic citizens who take out there time blazing the hot sun, the arid weather to go and vote. It is not won by keyboard tapping and mouse clicking. Meaning to make your vote count you must go out to Vote when the time comes. Disclaimers :- This is not a true reflection of the Popularity of any political party currently on the streets of Nigeria given that the sample audience is limited due to the factors we all know. Secondly this medium used is not 100% error free... You can go on to host you after party here. #Mathew briggs.

Clerverly: Will you stop these your nonsense ratings and votes here on NairaLAnd?? APC supporters are mature men who go about their duties and use their spare time to highlight the ills of present Government and past PDP leaders while selling their manifestos to the public. So coming to compete with the creeks and PDP e-trained- insult -peddler-Igbo kids here with 30 handlers each, is not our business. Are you sure you are in the right thread... please kindly post this your statement in this other thread I opened for more impact. https://www.nairaland.com/1584609/vote-party-here-pdp-127#20741515 Vote for your party here > PDP 127 - APC 69 |
so far TAMBUWAL/AMEACHI is leading with 5likes |
So far its PDP 129- APC 69 PDP numbers are rising faster than ever, doubling APC numbers... Oh no, can the opposition survive this... If nothing happens, I predict a landslide victory. |
Standing5: the plan of PDP rats to use multiple handle on NL and the rigging tendencies of PDP has been exposed here again. How did 67 posters get over 120 votes? E-ballot snatching i guess.votes are not decided by no of post aka comenters but by no of likes each party's logo gets. check the first post in this thread for clarification before ariving to uninformed conclusions ##Mathew Briggs |
@Promhize please this is not a thread for sqabbles or e-fight... it's for APC surpporters ONLY ... please respect and help keep the sanity of this thread. |
