wincyhov:How did u know? Are u also a student in...? ![]() |
tpia5:Your mindset is the typical retrogressive Nigerian mindset.Does a lady have to be in the sex trade business to pay a visit? And what do u mean by randomly? The main reason people do this is because they feel the society will blame the girl rather than the molester as u are trying to do.Probably you are one of those who think if a lady is raped it is because she caused it(thru dressing, making friends, going out).Thats exactly what am against. I know that is how Nigerian parents raise their daughters. So instead of punishing the molester everybody blames the victim. That is why many girls raped cannot come out to complain becos even their parents would rather ask why they visited the friend. Does that guy look like a nobody? For everything we do in Africa we subjugate the woman instead of protecting them. Other societies protect their girl-children through public opinion and law. A Yerima in the north is molesting minors in the name of religion- he abandoned logic and claimed his religion permits it.Till today nobody have successfully risen against the Yerimas in our midst. And there are many Yerimas all over the country. The Nigerian man molests a girl before marriage and keeps molesting even in marriage. I can cite many other instances of prejudice against women in our society- eg why cant female daughters become kings in Nigeria when in England male and female heirs have equal access to the throne. My point is that ur reaction is a typical Nigerian stereotype way of response to issues concerning women but we need to change that.Yes,thats what our forefathers taught us but they were wrong!!! Do research on how other civilised societies protect their girl-children. |
delman88:Sorry to say but this is a typical Nigerian illiterate response to the issue.A backward society thinks the girl should be blamed. The lady did not force him to buy things for her, did she? And what is wrong in a 23year old undergraduate visiting a man. She is already an adult. But visiting does not necessarily translate to consenting to have sex. Even if you buy a lady heaven u must still get the ladys consent for sex. And men should stop supporting other men that molest women. That is why other societies are way ahead of us. In other societies girls walk the street half naked knowing they are protected by law-you cant even touch without consent(that might be termed sexual harassment). But in Nigeria a lady wearing tight fitting trousers will be blamed if raped by a man - claiming she must have tempted the rapist by wearing such. Too much religion is not helping us in Nigeria. We must start looking for rational solutions to current society's problems and not waiting for a God somewhere to solve them for us. We will remain underdeveloped in all spheres until we start engaging our intellect in all we do. |
Truckpusher:Who will make him answer those questions? EFCC or Jonathan? Even Jonathans emenies have nothing to answer. Sylvia,Atiku, Tinubu are walking around freely without immunity. If Jonathan cannot arrest his political adversaries that are corrupt, is it his party men that he will arrest? Even if Jonathan wins 2015 elections nothing will happen to Amaechi under this Jonathan. If not for London connection Ibori would still have been walking the streets of Nigeria like a saint. And i dont think London will be interested in helping Nigeria again with our fight against corruption. |
Situations like this call for a reform of our laws and belief system. After all, the law is supposed to be dynamic. The time has come when Nigerians should think rationally and not entertain religious sentiments. The Nigerian society should provide protection for the girl-child. One, such men should be sanctioned by the law for sleeping with a minor - a prison term will do. This will serve as deterrent to such other molesters around. That old man had an option of having consensual sex with another adult instead of a minor. Then the pregnancy should be aborted legally by the State. In this case she is only 2months pregnant and d abortion can be safely done by the state. Funnily, the irresponsible old man was even threatening if the pregnancy is aborted. Situations like these call for a reform of our laws and belief system. After all, the law is supposed to be dynamic. |
Looks like Fashola is now bitter since its now obvious that the muslim/muslim arrangement is not going to work. Didnt he know about GMBs age when he attended his declaration? Politicians and their selfish interests. The odds now favour Ameachi, Oshiomole, Rochas and co. Sorry oo Oga Fashola. |
pendy79:Why wait for the euphoria to die down before dealing with him after all 19 lawmakers are not with him. Why cant they just deal with him? Or are they too scared? Yorubas say " ai leja ni ita baba mi o de bi yi"(only a coward holding a sword threatens-why not use if he can). And to remind u it is not just 7 behind Fayose- He has the whole of Ekiti behind him. If they are sure of themselves why cant they show face in Ekiti instead of hiding in Lagos. |
BobbyRobson:Am i invited? I schooled in France. |
knoph2007:Really? So u think it is better to illegitimately pay #1billion monthly to a Godfather in Lagos through concessionaires, alpha beta and others than pay a legalised #100million pension? Between the two who has for 7years now been financing his political structures at the expense of the state. What percentage of the state resources go to the Godfather monthly. If a Godfather takes 1billion how much do u think the Gov paying him will collect. At best he will match his Godfathers 1billion. In Nigeria, a governor without a godfather is corruption X 1. But a Governor ruling with a godfather means corruption X 2 at the expense of state welfare. So, which is actually better? |
Saheed9:They have relocated to Lagos.Ekiti is too hot now for the anti-people lawmakers. They no longer represent the people of Ekiti. |
tbaba1234:My brother/sister, instead of coming here to mis-educate us why not ask your leaders to control BH leaders. The supreme leader of muslims in nigeria is the Sultan and he is from the North. He doubles as the traditional leader and islamic head and yet cant control his subjects. First put your house in order!! |
tbaba1234:She doesnt need to have been to a mosque to know. By their fruits we shall know them. |
VoteLabourParty:You are perfectly right about that. He writes for a certain class of SW politicians. His past write-ups will make u understand what the Deputy Gov is talking about. The same people castigated Obj when he did same with Atiku but now sees nothing wrong when done by his benefactors. Bluntly said, this is an example of Nigerias Cash and Carry Journalism. |
This Tunde Fagbenle is a funny character. I remember reading one of his articles titled "Can an Iroko make a forest?" around 2012 close to Ondo elections. It was a piece against the chances of Mimiko of Ondo state winning elections. i have since marked him as a baised journalist/commentator.And to his question, with the benefit of hindsight - Yes, in this case an Iroko has made a forest. Funny journalist. Journalist who loves to visit and write about Governors only. Why the special interest in Governors. By their fruits you shall know them. |
Its better for us to vote for someone who has always shown interest in political office rather than an imposter that is being pushed to contest by a godfather who intends to use him for his own agenda.Ambode is just joining politics and so will have to depend not on his own political structure but on that of his godfather. That makes him susceptible to manipulation and control by the godfather. His ultimate loyalty will be to the godfather and not to the people. These godfathers deliberately go for technocrats that have no political structure. The same happened to Fashola. When he attempted to free himself they almost impeached him using the True Face of Lagos, or has people forgotten? Obviously, he ended up conceding to his godfathers demands at the expense of commoners. No wonder Fashola does not know his political future after being a Governor of Lagos for 8years. He was never in control politically. Note, the godfather that nominates the governor fills the legislature with his nominees also. So Ambode will be no match for the hawks that will surround him even if has good intentions. So its better to vote for someone who has always been in politics with his own structure no matter how small the structure is. That way he will be directly responsible and accountable to the people and not to any special benefactor. Am not for any party in particular but for a self-made politician. And there are many of them we can pick from--- Jimi Agbaje(he has always shown interest), Ganiyu Solomon, Leke Pitan, Obanikoro, Supo Shasore, etc. |
PentiumPro:Sister, if u think we Lagosians will vote for another stooge in lagos then u are just deceiving yourself. Nobody is deceived about who is funding Ambode. Even all the other APC contestants are against his emergence not to talk about the general populace who are watching. Imposing Ambode will be the biggest mistake Asiwaju can make and i believe he has realised this. Where was Ambode when the likes of GOS, Banire, Leke Pitan were mobilising support for ACN/APC. He used to say "yes sir "to all of them. Now someone wants them to start bowing to their subordinate. Tufiakwa!! Not even the endorsement of Akiolu will save him. Hope u have not been visiting Gbagada sha ? |
Nigerians like complicating the simplest of tasks. How do they do it in other advanced democracies where we copied it from. Universal best practice should be used in all we do. For instance, can the United States House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner defect from the Republican Party to the Democratic party and still keep his position as Speaker or even be ever taken serious again politically? Please help me answer this as i dont know... i schooled in France. Thanks. |
Allowing political office holders such as Governors and parliamentarians to decamp from one party to another close to elections is not going to help us as a nation. If you feel strong about dumping your party then you should resign from the office you benefited through the party. I wonder why politicians don't easily decamp in other civilised democracies. We need strong party systems where people are loyal to their parties. That way we can have parties with ideology not what we have now. They are not fighting for the masses but for control and their pockets - the 5 govs, Tambuwal, the 8 Ogun lawmakers and others. |
Ikengawo:And some people will come to Nairaland to tell us that tribe or religion are irrelevant and this is America. That was why a party was even comtemplating a same religion Presidency and VP for Nigeria. It was only when Obasanjo publicly criticised the plan that they were forced to come out to issue a rebuttal. Before that they ignored other people that spoke against it. FFK left APC as a result of it. Thanks for those who spoke against it. All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to keep quite. Nigeria must not go the way of Iraq and Syria. Remember ISIS! |
hazyfm:Why bros? That pic taunting Yerima is anti-party activities for u. I know you are a supporter of GMB. Don't u know Senator Yerima is a member of your party and a strong supporter of GMB? Cant you see some similarity between them? ![]() |
barcanista:You will have to wait forever to get those materials. I quite sympatise with ur predicament. Now you wished GMB had done many things in 1984- only if wishes were horses. Again, please accept my condolences(sic!) |
Neyova:Typical Yoruba man. "Awon wo lo nse?" ![]() |
Iykopee:All it takes for evil men to triumph is for good men to keep quite. Nigerian democracy must be issue based and debated so that we can make informed choice. It is not a waste of time. The only way we can help ourselves is by encouraging the truth and condemning the falsehood whether from GMB's supporters or Jonathan's. |
barcanista:Gosh!!! You must be a clown. Have followed the debate of both of you and found you totally subjective. Do u think Nigerian youths are daft? Why twist facts that are verifiable to embarrass your party? While am not against GMB, am repulsive to your unconvincing lies used to justify his candidacy. |
arewafederation:Its only in Nigeria that someone will commit murder in broad daylight, right in the presence of witnesses and still get away due to lawyers looking for loopholes in the law. And that's why we are not progressing. Bill Clinton almost lost his Presidency due to his indecency with Monica L. He had to appear before the US Senate and apologise to Americans. If it were Nigeria, no apology. Nigerian politicians will ask u to show them what is unconstitutional in indecency.Like i said before, morality and commonsense dictates that Tambuwal should not have done what he did even if its not directly written in that big book we call the Nigerian constitution. Must everything be in the constitution? UK, Canada, New Zealand etc don't have a written (or codified) constitution yet they have effective judicial system. The judges know when something does not make sense- like what Tambuwal did. The judges can set precedence by themselves without referring to any big book called the Constitution. Nigerian politicians should stop ridiculing us in the International community. |
arewafederation:Instead of abusing others why not cite instances of Tambuwals action in other civilized democracies. Then we will know it is acceptable universally. Or is this a case of one of Nigeria's contraptions -so called home grown democracy? Danger lies ahead. |
Its unfortunate that Tambuwao is instigating an unnecessary crisis. He has the right to defect but he should have stepped down since he got there on the platform of PDP. This can only happen in Nigeria. Irrespective of its legal interpretation, Tambuwals action is morally wrong. He is setting a bad precedence. It will lead to desperation in 2015 elections. If Tambuwal wants to retain his post by all means then others might also decide to win elections by all means. Hope we wont go back to those days. |
Kingharzyz:Since u love GMB so much let me also use him to pray for you,say Amen : May God impose the religion u don't want upon u the same way Buhari wants to do to every Nigerian. May God cut your hands for every little sin like fornication/adultery that u commit according to Buhari's Sharia. May God put u in jail for what u did not do the same way Buhari put Jakande, Bisi Onabanjo, Adekunle Ajasin and others in jail for nothing in 1983/84. |
gadogado:Thanks for ur explanation my brother. But i have a question. When u give out a 5year old out in marriage to a fifty year old man, how does a 5year old know her preferred man? Even at 10 do u think she is mature enough for that decision? Some are currently 25 and they are not sure-its the nature of love(kindly read Shake-spears novels). And what is the parameter for ripeness? Is it any day Alhaji feels tempted? After all, it is his property-he has paid for it. |
ba7man:Sorry sir. Are u from Ekiti? If not then i cant understand why some people take Panadol for others headache. I thought Fayose is Ekiti peoples headache now and nobody's. |
chukwudi44:Okaaay, thats it. Because its time for a christian VP. You know what? Even Fashola too just converted to christianity yesterday! Oshiomole thinks he is smart abi? In fact, if u are ready to give VP to Aregbe, i can assure u he will give his life to Jesus on National TV sharp-sharp. Who cannot convert if thats what u christians want for VP. ![]() |
I can understand why Fayose is doing this. He needs to set the records straight as he is taking over. He needs to do a proper audit of what he met on ground. Otherwise Fayemi will continue to lay claim to the project even when he did not complete it. And i wont be surprised if it will cost more to finish and equip the hospital than the cost of the building. But if it is true that Atiku did commission the project then that will be a scam of the century. Only in Naija. |
