The Greek word translated WORSHIP in your Bible is OBEISANCE meaning REVERENCE.
Forgiveness that Jesus talked about does not mean he is God rather it means God has given him the authority to judge the world so Jesus can declare someone free from guilt after assessing the person.

This is why Jesus and his disciples were hated with passion by their own people back then.

Today true Christians are hated because they imitated the faith of their first century counterpart by preaching and teaching about love and peace everywhere they go, their people who feels they are unjustly treated by people of another tribe, nation or country wants to right such wrongs but the true Christians stick to what Jesus taught them regarding justice that God's Kingdom will settle such matters.

This is the reason why Jehovah's Witnesses don't participate in politics and military services because doing so will mean they have to abandon what Jesus commanded them to favour the commands of human rulers who don't believe in Jesus or God's Kingdom.
