Congrats Queen_Labisi. Pls rest well and take care of da boy well. I'm equally waiting for the gist. @Kheti, there's nothing to worry about. At 17weeks, first time mums may not feel the baby move yet. Some do at about 20weeks and even when the baby starts moving, what you feel is flutters, more like butterfly movements inside you, not the kicks. It gets stronger with time and become real kicks way later. Relax and enjoy the journey. Welcome to the thread, it's a real family...for me. |
Thanks all. I feel really good reading all your comments. @Byvan, I pray you don't exceed edd by 13days again. you don't even need any exercise cos only our mouth on this thread fit start your labour. .@ Esmeralda, it's a govt hospital, but I'm in Europe, although I had my first baby in Nig. via cs, but before that day, I enquired if my husband could come in and the answer was a big no, for the same reason you gave, and it was a private hospital. @Beauty...January is just around the corner...just tarry @Swit Ayi, there's really nothing to be afraid of, look beyond the labour and pushing(which lasts only a day or less), there's a little Angel on it's way into your life(to stay for a looooong time). I pray for short labour; Safe, easy, smooth and complication-free delivery to all expectant mums Amen! And may God grant babies to all those waiting upon him, AMEN!!! |
Hello everyone. Happy new month. Divine strength to all october mums. My Princess is finally here, 2days past edd. Birth story: My edd was 23rd sept. I was awakened by menstrual-like cramps on 24th morning, but I didn't tell Hubby about it cos i thought it was Braxton Hicks and didn't want to raise false alarm. By the time he returned from work in the evening around 5pm, the contractions were already serious and I saw the show to confirm. I let him eat before I broke the news to him and then we left for the hospital. We got to the hospital around 6pm and I was just 1cm dilated. The Doctor said we had to go back home, but she'd first monitor the contractions and the baby's heartbeat for about 20mins. the belt was strapped to my tommy, I laid down there in pains. At a point, I threw up. The doctor on checking the chart of my contractions, said they were strong, and checked me again. I had gone from 1cm to 3cm within that 20mins and I was immediately admitted, around 7:30pm. Hubby went and dropped our 2 year old daughter with a family friend and came back to the hospital. We were taken to the room where I'd labour. The pain started increasing gradually, and after a while, I was given epidural and the pain subsided, but I still felt the pressure pretty much. I could hold conversations with Hubby in between contractions. At about midnight, my water was broken manually and I was also given pitocin to fasten labour. The matron came in to check my progress from time to time and told me how far dilated I was each time. It was a new experience for Hubby and he couldn't comprehend the poking of hands and several other objects into my vjay. I was fully dilated by morning and was taken to the delivery room around 8:30am. There were about 8persons there(Doctors, nurses, the matron). Hubby was there too and they were all dressed in green. I pushed for about 20mins and got an episiotomy(big baby). I pushed further at the guidance and encouragement of the medical team and my Hubby, and the baby's head popped out. The rest of the body almost immediately. She weighed 4.1kg. The epi was stitched and I was wheeled to the room where we stayed for the next 2 days before we were finally discharged. I can't wait for the stitches to heal, it's really painful and to worsen it, I'm battling with hard poo for 3 days now. But each time I look at her and how adorable she is, I have a reason to bear the pain. I mustadd that Hubby's presence there from start to finish has a great impact on our relationship. |
@Byvan thanks a lot. Your response had a calming effect esp as they came with live examples. 13days, I wonder how you felt while u were waiting. And 4.8... @Rukemi. Shout my sister. That's how desperate I am to meet my little lady. Will take it easy as you adviced. Thanks |
favored gal: congrats double blessingI thought it doesn't usually work if your body is not ready(ripening of the cervix and maybe loss of mucus plug). Besides,a lot of horrible gists abt how painful it can be.smh. I know the wait is coming to an end. |
Congrats to Double blessing. Can't wait for mine o. I'm exactly 40 weeks today and was really hoping the baby will come earliear. I'm so anxious and impatient. I've been walking for abt 1hr daily since i was 39wks and I climb the stairs when I get home(5th floor) yet the baby seems so comfortable in there. Someone should pls tell me this is normal, or better still tell me what to do to speed things up, I blv the longer they saty the fatter they become. I'm getting tired of being pregnant, I guess it also has a lot to do with a friend of mine who put to bed on the 19th, and we had the same edd(23rd).***long sad face*** |
Sorry for your loss Chiejik. May God comfort you and bless you with another pregnancy that will stay, Amen! @beauty, I can relate with you on the pain you felt cos i too have multiple fibroids and felt that pain thrice in the 2nd trimester of my first pregnancy, its just like labour pains. Thank God you're ok now. I pray it doesn't re-occur. I'm 39wks gone now and it never happened in this pregnancy. I wonder why, not complaining though. |
Wow! I'm short of words. Pls keep this pix safe and show ur son when he's grown. I'd give anything to see such a pix of me and my dad. This is adorable and admirable...my God, I love this. And your wife...will forget and re-forget the labour pains whenever she beholds this. God bless you op and may you and wifey live long to enjoy the fruits of your labour, amen. |

congrats Anjy on your baby. she has enough yams for a lifetime. And hummingbird, sorry abt the boys, tot that's wot you wanted though ![]() I´m 34wks gone and the scan shows my baby is breech. the doc suggested another cs if the baby doesn´t turn by week 39, he said trying to turn the baby via ecv is risky because of my previous cs 2years ago. has anyone been in this situation before or does anyone know what I could do to help my baby flip. I really want to avoid another cs because I have nobody to help with my very energetic 2year old while i heal, hubby goes to work. I´m really anxious. |
Hello fellow mamas and mamas to be, and 7 gbosas to the latest papa mcfemad. I've been a silent follwer of this thread...my 2year old daughter destroyed my laptop keyboard but I'm glad I can now browse/type with my phone. It'll be an understatement to say I've gained a lot here. I'm 32 weeks gone with baby number 2, due in sept. I had my daughter via CS(breech probably due to fibroids...yes, I have that too). The cs was not a bad experience at all, but I honestly do not want a cs this time cos I'm new in town with no family around to help out while I heal. I just joined hubby in Europe. I'm praying and hoping to have a normal V. Delivery, I don't know what their policy here concerning VBAC(v. Birth after cesarian) is and no thanks to language barrier, I Can't have a meaningful discussion with my gynea(Spanish). #just keeping my Fingers crossed# |
Hello Doc, Thanks for the good work you're doing on this thread. God will continue to bless you. I'm really distressed. I'm a 6 months multigravidae with a 2year old daughter, whom I had via cs in Nigeria(she was breech). Now I've left the country. I want to know what my delivery options are, if I'll be allowed to have a normal delivery (if there's no need for a cs) or if it must be a cs because I've had my first child thus. I would have discussed this with my doc, but I'm in a spanish speaking country and don't speak the lang yet, while my doc too doesn't speak eng. I usually go to the hosp with my husband, but he's against the idea of discussing this cos according to him, I shouldn't teach the doc his job(I'm not trying to). I just need answers. I know hospital policies differ from country to country. But what is it like in usa where you are? Will it be Compulsory cs or do I have normal delivery options? I just want to prepare my mind. Though I'd give anything to avoid another cs. |
Nice write up Ifeanyi. The exercise part is not easy, true. It requires a lot of discipline. And the bossom feeding, so true, I noticed it with my first baby, plus I wasn't into the omugwo stuff, so it helped. Nice, once again. |
cs isn´t evil . my 1st baby was breech and came through cs. we´re fyn. She´s 2years now and am Pregnant for my 2nd. cs is not a big deal . gone are the days! |
So those that have exams and new couples whose weddings have been fixed like months ago should just sit at home because some miscreants said so. Abeg these ppl shd get a life. my friend falls in the 1st category while my sister falls in the 2nd category, and many others we don´t know. Do you respect the dead by ruining the lives of their surviving brothers... methinks its not abt the dead, if not, why haven´t they been doing this every year. They are really up to something. jobless thugs. i hope those army teach them a bitter lesson! ![]() |
I cried with you bro. But, See as He made an expressway in the middle of an ocean for the Israelites to pass, that's how our God will surprise your family with many tiny feet. Same goes to all those believing God for the fruit of the womb. Amen.

All children are indeed a blessing, it doesn't mean one cannot wish for a particular gender. Poster, there are many methods for this, with varied percentage of success. God is the final answer though. I think the cheapest and most accessible is the Sheattles method. First you need to know certain facts: 1. The male sperm consists of the "x" and the "y" chromosomes, "x" being the female while "y" is the male. But your egg which you release during ovulation has just "xx". So what determines the gender of your baby is the sperm that fertilizes your egg. 2. The "y"(male) sperm cells swim faster than the "x"(female). 3. The"y"(male) also dies faster(I think within 24hrs of release), while the "x" female last for up to 48hrs or even more. Now if you have s*x abt 3days b4 your ovulation, the "y" male sperm would probably die off before the egg comes out to be fertilized, and the enduring "x" female sperm will have the egg all to themselves. But if intercourse occurs on the exact day of ovulation or within 12hrs, the fast swimming "y"male sperm cells will most likely reach the egg before th iyanga "x"female ones. So the chances of having a male is quite increased. S*x positions that encourage deep penetration is preffered, as the sperm is released closer to the eggs to enable the "y" male get to the egg quickly. You should know that this has a high success rate, but not 100%. God has the final say. There are many ways to know the exact day of ovulation. Most women feel pains during ovulation. But you can get an ovulation test kit from a pharmacy, or use the temprature method, whereby you measure your temprature with a thermometer daily, preferably on getting out of bed in the morning. There's a rise in temprature on ovulation days. If you chose this method to determine on what day in your cycle you ovulate, I think you should do it for at least 3 to 6 months before ttc, in order to master your body and "strike" on the right day. Bear in mind that certain factors can altar the consistency of your temprature eg illness. The ph level of the vagina(acidic or alkalinic) also affects the sperm activities. Some claim that women can influence the ph of their "v" by taking certain foods in order to get their "v" on the right ph b4 intercourse takes place in order to encourage the desired sperm "x" or "y", depending on the desired gender. You can visit google for more info. Just type what you used as topic here in google and you'll see more. Good luck and don't underestimate the power of prayers. |

unipol: in italian embassy lagos people wait for 7 months and later the reply will come. the only advice is patience but don't go and sit down like that, because they may even forget your file in one dest or the other. ask ur husband to get a lawyer. keep sending them emails by you, your lawyers. make a petion to spainish forein affair ministry in madrid, spain. look if they still have embassy in abuja. sent petitions to the embassodor directly. that is the only way to wake those criminals in spainish embassy.my husband did the bolded and only God can describe the speed with which they called me. btw, i applied for the visa in april, my husband went to the spainish forein affair ministry in madrid in oct, and behold, the said they´ve not recvd my application frm Nig. After repeated visits from my husband, they took him serious, and called the embassy from their office in his presence. The embassy called me the next day and i got my visa immediately. i´ve been with my husband since December, 2012. |
Lack of communication, lack of respect, not having and spendind time with spouse(this makes couples strangers b4 they realize it) and finally, the very area we're really ignoring....family or friends' interference(from either side). That's lack of maturity. The list continues...by the way, all these existed in our grannies' marriages, but for some reasons, the women don't walk. 2 of these reasons are: 1. Fear of what ppl will say. EVerybody expects her to "work it out" or die trying. 2. Those days, even if she wants to walk, the average woman cannot cater for herself and so is forced to stay. Her family won't accept her anyway cos its considered a taboo and shameful, so she stays bAck. But now, many women are financially independent, can easily rent an apartment, feed well on their own, etc and life goes on. That's a catalyst |

Good day fellow n.landers. I applied for visa for family reunion visa at the Spanish embassy lagos about 5 months ago(april). Upon application,I was given a date(may) which has come and gone. shortly before that date,I got a mail from the embassy requesting that I complete my file with some other additional documents from my husband in Spain. This we did immediately, thinking the wait is coming to an end. I wasn't given any other date,as the first one has passed. I was simply told that when they're ready, they'll call me. I've waited like this and each time I or my husband call the embassy for enquiry, they keep saying the same thing-that they'll call when they're ready. For how long are we going to wait? What could be the cause of this delay? Has anyone had a similar experience? Pls share and tell how you overcame it.are other embassies like this? The silence and delay is becoming fraustrating. Responses and personal experiences will be appreciated. |
I applied for visa for family reunion at the spanish embassy in april and was given 30th may for visa collection. On 25th may,I got a call from the embassy requesting for additional documents from my husband in spain which he sent and was submitted since 6th of june. Upon submitting the documents, we were told that our file is now complete and that we should expect a call from them. This has not happened and it's really fraustrating. My husband calls the embassy sometimes to enquire the reason for the delay and each time he calls, they tell him not to call again that when they're through, they'll call us(the application is for me and my 1 yr old daughter). Please who knows how long it takes to process family reunion visa to spain? The wait is really fraustrating because one cannot do any planning like enrolling for further studies or any short course because you may pay the fees to start something and the embassy will call the next day. I have equally ignored some of such opportunities, believing I may not stay long enough to complete it,but get so hurt when I sit doing nothing and eventually stay long enough to have completed the courses. My husband is working in spain and we also submitted a copy of his work contract legalized by notary public in spain. We have waited for 4months now, with no specific date in view. Has anyone had similar experience? How do you handle such? Please your answers and comments will be appreciated. Thank you |
