I thank everyone on this thread for your valuable information. Will definitely update as soon as payments are disbursed (hopefully soon enough so the 2017 list can be released on time).

I wanna hope that it would truly be paid. I hope this isn't another politics. For more than one year nddc has consistently promise payment with no substance. I never believe Nigeria would one day come down to this level.

Nddc saying those not paid were awarded from last administration. Thi's a foolish thing to say. Who enthroned the new administration? Is it not the people so they may get more value out of governance? We did we do to deserve this as Nigerians?

There are numerous women who support their families with little or no input from their husbands, a good number of them didn't resort to adultery.

I believe there are some who separated or divorced their husbands on account of their financial irresponsibility.

Its better to leave than cheat in a marriage.

Is she cheating? The marriage is long over. Do you foresee her going back to her husband that could not even pay his rent. The problem with op's sister is not about cheating but with the way she is leading her life. She has gone through two hectic marriages and she hadn't learnt her lesson. One would think she would draw a grand plan for her breakthrough and remain dedicated to it, so she could have her kids together and make them better.

She had returned back to what has caused her pains. Very soon, she would be put in a family way again only this time with younger and less capable boyfriend! Or just maybe she is looking for love aibeit wrongly.

Politics in Nigeria knows no bounds. They don't mind getting what they want at the expense of others. The money might have been fixed in the bank to generate more proceeds for them. All their children are abroad living the life. None have to ever worry about cash. I blame the present Administration for refusing to hold this people accountable. It seems like anyone who is close to those at the top will never face probe and this is what is giving them the authority to do what they are doing. We can only pray for God to touch their hearts so that they can do what is right.

guys just got an infro from a reliable source. Nddc is trying to pay the sets they owe .once they release payments the list will be released. I'll advice that we defer our admissions to January if your school don't v January then apply to a school that has. Finally pray we all mk the list. All this will be worth it at the end. V a nice weekend.

Thanks for the update. The issue past set always get from NDDC officials is that the management has not approved the tuition payment. Have they finally approved it or they are scheduling meeting to?

The professor should be sacked! He has not acted like a trained mind. First, student privacy is huge on legal right. Second, a final student is most likely an adult that can have girlfriend. Thirdly, he is a sadist.

NDDC cannot dump the blame on these scholars, if there is fraud it is from within the agency! As far as we know they exist a budget and a stipulated number of awards, so coming to blame scholars for fraud perpetrated by its staff is wrong!

I am forced to believe that there are nddc agents here or prolong citizen oppression has altered the mentality of some people. Can you imagine a Nigerian heaping blames on scholars! If there was corruption in some awards by nddc who is to be blame?

More than 168 neglects. How many of these were corrupt awardees? What is our business with what go on in the agency? Are they not ashamed that Nigeria's name is being drag through the mud even by reputable government agencies. Already scholarships letters from Nigeria are no longer respected as basis for visa grant!Yet someone mental reasoning was able to support nddc's action.

If your issue is with dishonest scholars, then I hear you; but I am saying we - genuine 'by the book' scholars do NOT deserve to be treated the way we have. Are you saying they do not owe us any explanation?? I disagree with you. We did not ask for help to travel to the UK or US for studies. They sent out notification ads without any prompting from us encouraging qualified/potential candidates to apply for an overseas scholarship which we did. I wrote the test and attended a gruelling interview. I did not beg or solicit any favours. And I believe most of us did not either. So again your rants are misdirected and misguided.

I wish you are awarded the scholarship (and deservedly so) so when you get here and you are left to your own devices, you can come back and tell me 'to wake up and find a way to further my studies.' BTW, I have been doing that since 2015 after being forewarned about NDDC; but that does not mean they should not fulfil their payment obligations - so yes they do owe us something, an explanation at the very least.

Don't mind him. He has given up on life. That is what failures do. I do not know what his point is exactly. Can everybody be the president or executive. Is that how a country should be run. What manner of hatred would cause a country leader to abandon those he calls the best brain in a foreign country. The citizens have the sense of duty to speak out whenever things go wrong and the country's parliament would intervene if the executive fall to act. Maybe he has never heard of court of public opinion. NDDC can be taken to court on abandonment and disabuse of agreement. It will come to that!

Encouraging everyone to shut up is most puerile of him. If NDDC wants to discontinue her scholarship, they must write a letter to everyone awarded explaining why so and not parading lies that those unpaid are not true scholars. It is very unfortunate that maleficent occupies position of power in Niger but most unfortunate is the irrational citizens that launch them on.

What do you mean by plan? I am 2015 scholar, unpaid tuition and expenses for two sessions, and I do not know of any plan for us. Pls fill me in

Seriously, we do not have up to $30 billion in our reserve for years yet it is so easy for NNPC to award contract that is more than our national reserve!

Didn't you read the topic of the thesis. He was converting measurement unit of some British Standard in civil engineering for easy understanding in Nigeria market

For the first payment, my tuition fees were paid directly to my school's account and this followed from the invoice I initially sent to NDDC so there were no issues. I don't think it is difficult to track the invoice because the school addresses NDDC on the invoice note - which is sent to me, and what I have always done is forward the invoice to NDDC. As a PhD student, your tuition fees does not change in the three years of your study and the school has always provided an invoice for the next school year (with reminders on outstanding payments which I have always forwarded to the commision).

The funny part is, we actually received an email last year October (start of a new session) from NDDC scholarship coordinator to send tuition invoices as soon as possible, which I and my colleagues did but since October 2016 to date, nothing - we've just been in limbo. How I have survived to this day is a miracle, to be honest.

There are many of us that are like you and it's been hard surviving in school. I am a 2014 PhD scholar and started school in 2015. I have been paid just once in 2015 effortlessly. 2016 tuition wasn't paid and 2017 tuition has not been paid also. How can anyone continue in school oversea without paying two consecutive year tuition? This is one place where you pay for every damn service you get. Some scholars have received debt collector agency letter to pay up their university accumulated debt or face prosecution.

There is no care from NDDC whatsoever. I have even travelled to Nigeria when the pressure became too much for me to handle to meet with the education director about 3 months ago with borrowed money. He only said he sympathize with us but can't do anything about it. He said the duty to approve rest entirely with the MD/CEO. That is how I lost more money and plunged further in debt.

This isn't about lack of money from NDDC. It's sheer wickedness. NDDC has consistently boast of supporting contracts, business and skills in Niger delta in tune of billions of Naira till this minute. On twitter, NDDC heaps praises on themselves about meeting their agency's goal. Leaving their own children education fundless after sending them abroad is complete irresponsibility and height of inhumanity to man. The now CEO Nsima Ekere has not placed priority on education and human lives because scholar abandonment can clearly turn catatrophic!

The worst part is no Nigeria leader or media is concerned about this unbecoming behaviour from a well funded agency by federal govt., UN, ford foundations and plethora of oil companies in Nigeria. The house of assembly members and the executives have all turned a blind eye. The various Nigeria media were very quick to publish when the CEO once said every scholar will get his/her payment immediately but forestall the story of continued suffering of scholars on account of failed promise.

This is what happen in banana Republic where no one answered to anyone nor to the people. This is not the Nigeria we dream of!
