Bump!!! |
Have you scannned your car. Scan you car first. Its very wrong to have this kind of vibration you explained. A lot of things can cause vibration on you car but to get the culprit scan your car first. |
@Chukel don't get me wrong. The Op has done almost everything advised and he said the problem still persists. I did the same to my previous car, the CEL just didn't go away and the car always does overheating on the highway with the AC on.....what did I do? I sold the car to get a new one.....some cars can really give you headaches seriously......Imagine the op's present Fuel consumption is worse than that of a V8 Range Rover. That is tantamount to holes in the pocket. Anyway I hope he finds a lasting solution soon. I wish him all best. But what is the psroblem with our mechanics in Nigeria. Don't we have certified automotive technicians in Nigeria? I mean people who have some basic theoretical knowledge of Automobile Engineering. Most of these roadside mechanics are technically clueless!
Bro simply admit that you didn't meet the right person to help you out when you had issues with your car. Saying some1 should change an engine without knowing the cause of a problem is just a No for me. If you were to be client and I told you we needed to change your engine just for a jerking issue. It wouldn't speak good of how competent one is. Another reigning trend is after a client must have wasted enough money to quack mechanics and they eventually meet the right person to fix the car. They begin to say all kind of things and even offer you something to low that cant even buy parts needed to fix the ride. When there is a problem the culprit should be brought to book. Have seen cases where the same way you asking the op to change his engine . Nothing positive came out of it and even in cases of changing a whole transmission |
Danabu:Both the mazda tribute and Ford escape share parts to a reasonable degree. With the Ford escape having its immobiliser in its instrument cluster is just a NO for me. Meaning if you change the instrument cluster you would have to reprogramme it for the car to start working again. As for mazda tribute its a nice car but its charging system is an issue. You can't compromise getting a new alternator. Both cars are durable but I tell people maintenance culture is the key to keep your car moving |
Contemporary cars readapting since day 1 of production ![]() |
Scan the ride |
Smh!!! |
GAZZUZZ: ![]() |
Go and run a scan on the car. A fault code (s) would be given to you. Bring them back here |

Was the filter as well checked |
mrperfect85:Why not run a scan first before you finally conclude on what needs to be done |

Oando dextron 3 is just a temporary fluid replacement.i dont know what obtains in ph. But what the filling station guys would do is just to drain the old oil there. Look for a competent mechanic to drain fluid and wash the filter too |
Go and run a scan a fault code (s) would be given to you, come back here and post them here. |
Would be difficult to get in ph. Still had to get 5w30 for a freind cos it wasn't readily available. If you have someone in Lagos it would be much easier |
Would suggest you start by flush the old transmission fluid. Not only that service the transmission filter too. This involves only cleaning up the filter and if you see or notice burnt spot on the filter change the filter afterwards. Nissan matic D is your right transmission fluid. 4 litres should guage it. After all this is done I suggest you run a scan on your car to reveal other issues to be tackled |
seriousthing:Most times the arms are always bent as a result of bad roads in Nigeria. Like I said your maintenance culture would determine all this |
Never heard or experienced such |
Go ahead bro. Maintenance culture is the key. Happy purchase |
If its low now you can go ahead, but first and foremost make your enquiries with a Nigerian custom officer over there so as to know what and what would be involved. And also if you have a brother who knows how to check cars well all fine. Cotonu cars sometimes are alwys being used in their country afterwards would be sold as toks. Happy purchase bro |
Can't you get that same car in Lagos? The naija guys in cotonu makes that place rubbish. If you feel you want to buy it there fine. But I would just advice you make a deposit of 50k first if you have gotten what you want and collect a reciept to that effect and carefully mark your csr probably by using something to identify it cos those rogues there swap customer's car with something Similar. So durung the time frame of tryin to balance up you can start the clearing and custom duty processing |
From your long list and questions. Am sure some road side electrician has done some wonders on your car before you came up here with your car story. ![]() I still don't get what you mean by diagnostic tool not reading transmission information. Is it dat d tool is not conecting I, e you getting a communication error. Note : not all scanners out there are capable of reading transmission fault code. If your headlight keeps burning out within a month, am looking at a situation where your are using substandard bulbs or you are having an incorrect charging system (over charging). Ask your electrician to check your charging system. Could be more than the expected For your dashboard light going off. Before this happens do you notice cases where by the dashboard lights suddenly go dim mostly @ night? As for the sound you hear while on motion. Tell your mechanic to check your hub Check your suspension. Oil stain drop tell mechanic to trace that |
Go and run a scan on your car first and come back with fault code (s) |
bolacruz:Oh sorry honda transmission filter are internal. Well since the transmission is misbehaving you can buy another one |
What exactly is wrong with the transmission? What type of transmission fluid did you use? Was your transmission serviced which involves cleaning valve body and filter? Those are things you need to start with then finally checking the solenoids and its harness. After you do all this and you still have issues with the transmission you can go ahead to change it. Although I don't jave an idea of how much the complete transmission cost |
Scan your car different things can result to jerking but to be sure of the exact component causing this, scan your car. |
jaz:My bill wasn't up to that and the cam shaft sensor was actually mentioned in what I wrote. Nevertheless thank God your ride is ok now. Enjoy |
