tensazangetsu20: Do you have to loosen the filter to carry out the test. Please don't mind this stupid question. I am a baby mechanic No you do not need to loosen out the oil filter. Oil filter remains |

After idling the ride . Oil pump pressure falls below 3psi after 5mins of idling as against 4psi recommended by Toyota

To carry out oil pressure test. The oil pressure switch has to be loosed out inorder to get right fit for adaptor attachment.
Oil pressure switch is being loosed out

Car Talk › Toyota 4runner 2007(1GR-FE) Fix by mayor2013(op): 2:53pm On Aug 18, 2018*. Modified: 6:04am On Aug 19, 2018 |
We have a Toyota 4runner 2007(V6). 1GRFE with the following fault errors pulled out from the pcm
1) P0016- crankshaft position-camshaft position correlation (bank1 sensor a)
2) P0022- camshaft position 'a'- timing over ratarded(bank2)
3) p0012- camshaft position 'a'- timing over-retarded (bank1)
4)P0456- evaporative emission control system leak detected (very small leak)
Symptoms exhibited by vehicle:
1) oil light flickers 2) so much internal engine noise 3) sluggish movement
Diagnosis:
** Since oil light flickers, an oil pressure tester would be used to determine oil pressure from the oil pump using an OTC oil pressure tester. After this is done a comparison would be drawn based on what the manufacturer recommends
N.b oil pump is an internal part within the engine

davodyguy: Thank you very much for the straight forward response.
My key question was, 'can you guys confirm if the space blocked could have been responsible'
First thing first, then I'll answer the other questions
NGK iridium platinum, with exact OEM number matching.
Fuel pump was the universal Honda/Toyota pump.
Its not the complete assembly with the fuel gauge that I changed, just the engine Yes. Take back to factory spec. Take out that yeye fuel pump. Get a complete untampered unit . Those pump alone are Chinese crap and would also cause a misfire. Excess black smoke was a result of the pulled out 02 sensor like I did explain earlier |
Car Talk › Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by mayor2013: 6:39pm On Aug 13, 2018 |
davodyguy: Hello guys Mayor2013 GAZZUZZ luvinhubby And others
Let's Rob mind
My aunt has a 2011 CRV Ex.
It drives fine and all parts functioning efficiently and effective.
Just as Honda says after 100k miles, do a tune up. Mileage 130k now
So we decided to do few things on Saturday Changed spark plugs to NGK iridium Changed fuel pump Changed injectors Changed the upstream and downstream sensors.
After fixing, car started fine and was sharper than it was prior.
After few minutes drive, a code showed up P1157, which points to Upstream sensor. Cleared code, but it instantly pumped up again.
I then suggested we return the old sensor, since nothing was wring, but women and over sabi.
We tried to remove sensor 1, only to find it difficult, cos the guy that fixed it forced the sensor in and the threading got damaged on the exhaust pipe. We had to use the heat to pull out the sensor, which was obviously condemned and the thread on the exhaust pipe damaged.
Since we need to buy a new sensor and possibly get another pipe that connects to the manifold, the panel beater decided to block the hole/space for the sensor fits it.
After leaving the panel beater, just few minutes drive, car started misfiring. I was called.
Did a scan and it shows P0300 to P0304 all cylinder misfires, along with the obvious oxygen sensor code.
Car is not idling at all now.
Once you start, it goes off immediately and terrible black smoke comes from the exhaust.
Can you guy confirm if the oxygen sensor issue is connected with the misfire
Thanks Yes it can. Black suite was caused by the pulled off 02 sensor. By the way what spark plugs did you use? What type of fuel pump did you use |

EgunMogaji: Okay this how it works.
Telephone rings:
Gazzuzz: Hello, this is Oga Gazzuzz.
Customer: How far?
Phone goes silent
No seriously.
Customer: I have a 2007 Accord EXL V6 that I need to have the right front drive shaft replaced.
Gazzuzz: We only replace both shafts at the same time. Each shaft is N90,000 and it'll take 5 hours but subject to inspection. We will let you know how long it will take once the car comes in.
Customer: Oklidokli, I will bring it in tomorrow.
Gazzuzz: Hoists car up, sees Ikorodu mud of life, sees welded ball joints, welded nuts, etc
Gazzuzz: I just realized that we will be closed from today for 3 weeks..
No, seriously.
Gazzuzz: Based on what we've seen during the inspection we will need to charge an additional 5 hours of work plus the following parts to make this repair.
End of story. And finally the last word would be Customer: can't you do this job for free. It's a small task. How can you charge me a 5hr extra labour. |
Car Talk › Re: To Rebuild Or To Replace? by mayor2013: 9:18pm On Aug 12, 2018 |
EgunMogaji: Okay so here is where I take a slight detour.
You guys at home created the mess that we're in.
Did the client weld his exhaust himself? Wasn't it some odd toed Orang Utang Engineer with a welding torch that did it?
We have rusted and stripped bolts here in the USA. So all that is included in the estimate. A goo professional mechanic shop that wants to take on customer work based on the book must have experience and tools.
Just because there's book doesn't mean that you can't charge more than the book. You just have to get the customers buy in before the work starts.
The customer that comes in with a welded stuff etc can be told that the work for engine R and R is 20 hours and it's extra 5 hours to R and R the welded exhaust. He can then take the estimate to Joe Blow shop down the road for another estimate.
Guys, don't fight this thing. It's what countries we run to like Japan, USA, Germany, UK do that makes their business envious.
Make una stop looking at negative ways and try to come up with ways to set standards.
One of the biggest issue on my building site is artisans that are not able to give me a "per square feet" estimate.
Working on cars as a living, is not easy, just like in any industry, so yes you'll get to face welded exhaust, stripped bolts, etc once in a while.
I you face that on every job then maybe one should consult "Awon Iya Osoronga" to find out what the heck is going on.
That should be the expiation and not the rule. This is life and it's not foolproof. But the information of welding the exhaust to engine permanently would have been passed accross to the owner of the car. Some Naija car owners like shitty jobs done on their cars. Perhaps the exhaust had some issues and he or she was advised to have it done this way just to cut cost. Now the professional involved needs to add extra man power to have this sorted which might culminate to be a free service. |

I'm more in love with the Honda accord as I'm used to honda products already. Please I need good pieces of advice.
Cc gazzuzz honmusa mayor2013 diportivo inception bishopawe Siena Both rides are good. Oil shortage problems on the 2az engine(i4). The Honda Accord is a better option if you ask me . But not as rugged as what you take out of the 2007 Camry. As for the Honda Accord are you talking about the late 2007 models which had a new design ? |
