My car was in a better condition before all this saga. After all I drove it down to Lagos from PH without issues but I only wanted a perfect state for the car.
Now I've lost money, my confidence , my gear box and to cap it all, I may have eventually change the gearbox (another round of spending).

At a point I actually thought of selling off the car but then, my lovely car will be priced as scrap. How do I explain spending over 300k (If I have to replace the present one) to fix gearbox? How much is the car gaan.

Called the mechanic now and he told me the transmission is faulty and needs to be changed that the faulty ecu caused it and I was like.... The transmission must have been bad for it to spoil within 20mins after installing,.

You have a random cylinder misfire. Check 02 sensor and replace. That is responsible for your black smoke being emitted from the exhaust. Did you use the recommended spark plugs

I have been experiencing something strange on my 07 Lexus Rx350.
From CEL caused by misfires codes jumping from 1 cylinder to 3 to 5 to 6 e.t.c.
I have changed up to 4 coils in space of 1 month
This morning cylinder 6 misfire popped up...... Not again I said.
Now I no longer believe its my coils acting up, but something else triggers the misfires

Other observations
Shakes whenever I start it in morning and smoothens
Whenever i rev the car ver high, its shakes /shudders and shuts off.
Trying to start it, it delays and cranks like i have a bad battery, which is not.
Then I perceive a carbon like smell.

I have installed new sets of NGK bought from amazon. So not plugs.

My mechanic says probably a bad injector or a fuel supply issue

A lot of things can be responsible for misfire. What other fault error do You have outside of a misfire. Could you expansive further on this carbon like smell. why do you keep changing are the older coils burning out

Things to check

Clogged up fuel injectors
Low pressure fuel pump Can be checked using a fuel pump pressure tester
Dirty airfiter
Clogged up throttle body
Worn out spark plugs
And many more

For you to clean up your fuel injectors. Make use of an fuel injector machine with ultrasonic bath

Let a professional inspect your engine. Compression could have been lost. A cracked cylinder block could have just taken place as a result of overheating

1. The very first comment was a free diagnosis from Mayor2013 at Igando, but you ignored and took the option of taking car to Ladipo by yourself.
2. Gazzuzz has his workshop in Ogba, but you were not patient enough to search for his address via his previous posts.
3. Honmusa has his workshop at Osodi-Gbagada expressway, but you didn't take your car there either.

You took a risk and followed a Mazda parts dealer to get Honda parts, with hopes it would work out but here you are worse off.
I doubt any of the reputable mechanics here will ever touch your car with a 10feet pipe due to your 'smart act' and how quickly we suspect you will want to come discredit them online if anything doesn't go as you expect. Better luck next time sir.

My 2006 Nissan Xterra just got back from a mechanic workshop after having the top gasket changed. Now its smoking like hell from the exhaust. I've been told to change the rings or replace the engine. Does anyone out there know the cost of a 2006 Nissan Xterra engine? Or do you think that changing the rings is a cheaper and wiser option. Is there any other cause of smoking from the exhaust? Now I remember. That gear box is gone already (older one). But in a case where you have bought another but you still have a slipping transmission, be sure what you where given was a good transmission and I hope what you where given is same as what originally came with your car if not you are on your way to the popular conversion where you might just need to changed your ecu and do some rewiring

95% attributed to an internal damage. Do not bother the op's case is not a failed ecu until proven otherwise where series of test has been carried out

I got the gear box for 230k n installation for 15k. While test running the gear. It gave a slight jerk that made the gear expert say the brain box might be faulty. Then when we got to a clear OK road. He fired the car. It jerked at 3 alone but selected the rest smoothly. Then he confirmed that the brainbox is the cause of the jerk. And said i no ed to change it asap before it destroys the new gear box, they can't work together. As if the useless bran box was hearing our conversation. As I was going home. It started jerking then latrr failed to select gear again. I cuma be fearing now.. What you guys think?

What was the issue with your first gearbox. The newly purchased gear box is not in a good condition. Slipping condition cannot be attributed to a failed ecu

A bad ecu can make a gearbox go faulty. A gearbox making an ecu go faulty by default is a "NO". If only both has been praticalised with. State your car's problem let's know how to answer your question rightly

Some few minutes before your response close to my workshop a guy uses the Volvo xc90 2006 we got talking and I asked him what happened to his rear lights. He told me he broke them accidentally and price each a piece for 35k.
