Chamackh: Just read up what you wrote again, so UNTH is not advancing right? Just laughing at your submission.I think you missed the point. Progress is relative. Enugu, im sure has advanced research in all its fields. The bottomline here is this thread is not comparing who is first in nigeria or who is more advanced in nigeria - this thread is saying this procedure is in Ibadan. What is your problem with that? You dont want Ibadan to have advanced heart procedure? |
Chamackh: Amaechi must have being a Nairalander to have known about this rumour.Obinoscopy |
I will like mods to please look into this guy logica on this thread. I thought about responding him but Id be better leaving the decision to you guys to handle so I wont have to. https://www.nairaland.com/1560716/uthman-dan-fodio-crossing-river#20315509 logica: I think you should go home and clip off your father's wings, first, then your mother's. When you are done, give me a call. |
Chamackh: We don't compete with others, we compete with ourselves. Open heart surgery was performed first in Nigeria in early 70's by Prof Martin Aghaji at UNTH.This thread is not about who was the first in Nigeria to perform the procedure of open heart surgery. This is talking about the arrival of "advanced" heart procedures in Ibadan. Advanced is key! Who knows what that means, maybe its no longer acceptable to open the chest if other more controlled procedires deliver greater benefits? ..but even in the field of "advanced procedure", Ibadan will now hold that "first" title you are branding. In which case the Enugu procedure can be properly ascribed as "basic" heart procedure. No need to go back and forth, this is about Ibadan. |
smartchoice: @Mayor God will not do for man what he ought to do for himself....hence these are not ACTS OF GOD...cos God does not supply oxygen masks! Five women in 3 weeks! in a year we can assume 87 annual deaths in the labor ward due to negligence @ the rate they are going!Very true. Man is very possessive but his weakness is revealed in his failure to own himself. God is Great! There is no attempt here to diminish the gravity of your grievance but nonetheless there are mixups in your allegation. Government hospitals must be built and equipped to a local standard. An hospital out of compliance with the standard should not be certified for operation at all. Here are few things to consider at the lower level of administrative responsibilities: What is the local standard? Is that hospital certified to that standard? Who is the supervising authority with oversight on public health? What is the inspection schedule? When was last time they were inspected and recertified? If one woman dies in delivery the medical examiner's report should declare the cause and whether its avoidable. A remedy should have been in place so no one elese died from same cause. If three women die in same ward and in one week and all with oxygen problem then there are many people in that hospital that can face charges of professional negligence. A root cause is needed to pinpoint and isolate the problem. There is over indulgence in the political decay and even though people are on payroll and gainfully employed most are ignorant about process and quality control that are in place at their jobs. There is need for public awareness drive to teach how a slight shift from standard operations upstream may result in monumental adversity downstream. The problem is in the hospital itself and you can write the authorities to suggest proper training of staff or you should seek the help of an investigative reporter in local media to help bring the awareness and force corrections before any more mothers die in that ward. |
logica: I by no means would "parade" intelligence. I leave that to those with grand delusions; like being a mayor of Lagos. Now, my first post reaches out to those who have read about the crossing or any treatise (books for the dim, that is) on the subject matter. If you don't have any such contribution, I will advise you leave this thread before I descend heavily on you...bring it on! waiting to clip off your descending wings. |
The op is thinking of julius ceasar and the rubicon.
I bet. ![]() Doing research about an event that has no history, explains why he couldnt find any book on it. |
KIRIJI: Why must you low life motherfu.ckers always assume others are competing with you? Who the fvck is professor alhaji? And what the fvck has he got to do with this thread?Cause they carry small pr.ic.ks. They cant swing and bob it like we do. The physical disadvantage manifests itself into psychological deficiency. They are preoccupied with a constant urge to measure up to Yoruba. |
logica: When you say a river was crossed, does that mean you travel the length of the river or the cross-section of the river? The answer to that should make this difficult subject of river crossing (which rivals rocket science in difficulty to understand by the way) much easier to understand.Jihadists had no time for all these structures you are putting up, ok? Before Uthman dan Fodio was born people crossed that river. How did they do it? Fodio did not cross the niger with warriors. The dethronement of Afonja in Ilorin was palace coup by residents. Therefore there is no basis to study how fodio cavalry crossed niger. |
logica: When you say a river was crossed, does that mean you travel the length of the river or the cross-section of the river? The answer to that should make this difficult subject of river crossing (which rivals rocket science in difficulty to understand by the way) much easier to understand. If you type in across river niger you will get tons of results from people crossing it in different parts of West Africa. The river is called Niger along its entire path. Thats what i meant. So much for your paraded intelligence! |
ijaw citizen: I'm not guily of this accusation, it is just a figment of your deluded imagination. Prove your sanity by providing facts to substanciate your accusation against me or forever remain a clown. That was not individually to you. Im talking of Ijaw nation as a whole. |
Sloan: Maybe they are, maybe not but is it not better to let them decide that? I want a Yoruba region or country only with our closest brothers and cousins and we can all maintain the same focus - WE WILL BE GREATER TOGETHER! One thing that I am sure will happen is that the economy of the West will be so good (if managed well with leaders in the mould of a Chief Obafemi Awolowo) that people from other lands will seek to immigrate or reside there! This is good but we will decide who can get in and who has to leave. If Nupes share any borders with Yorubaland and fall into the category of lands in which the people may go north, south, west or east, then if they vote to be in Yoruba land, that is fine subject to our acceptance. We surely don't want any peoples who cannot maintain a single focus on development, lifting up of the national economy and motherland and will not do everything to get us ahead as a region or country should not join (PLEASE). We don't want another Nigeria! As human beings we all want pretty much the same things: enough food, shelter, clothing, freedom, peace, a good life, security for us and our children, etc. If there's any peoples who don't have these values but retrogression, unnecessary fights, etc then they can stay away!Trust me, even if they elect to come into an independent Yoruba nation we should decline to accept them. Aren't you interested in having Yoruba as first language? When you bring in non-Yoruba speakers you end up in same quagmire we are in currently. A political alliance across the river is just fine. |
judyeze1: if APC present a north candidate it will loss all state in western nigeriaIf APC present a Northern leader, SS/SE is in deep shyytt. West had buffered your suffering in the hands of past Northern administrators. This time we go just siddon look, we no see evil, we no do evil! |
logica: Sorry. Swimming across the Niger with horses is not possible.Lol. So if they didnt use the method given by first responder, could not have used the one given by second responder and you believed they built a raft to transport them across, you have answered your question. Just type raft across the niger in google, you might be lucky and get results but remember Niger is very long. Good luck with probe. Share your findings with this community. |
Well thats how politics is played. You must at all times have one edge on your opponent, you never know when you might need to deliver a dagger to their heart. You dont waste it..you keep it in back pocket for days of open letters like this one. In the aftermath of the 2000 election in America Jesse Jackson continued to speak negative of President-Elect George Bush, who defeated Al Gore in a controversial election decided by the US Supreme Court. The Republican Party knew a secret which no else knew; that Jesse Jackson fathered a child with a mistress outside a wedlock. Mr Jackson sobered up and all his time on air in attack was then shifted away from Bush to defending Jackson. Thats raw politics! There's another side. The INTELPRO and the COINTELPRO. Intelpro stands for IntelligenceProgram. Cointelpro is CounterIntelligenceProgram. In the days of socialist movements in America -the 60s -, there were many black civil rights group. At same time the US government was agitated by increasing Russian presence in Latin America and the capitalists did not want communism to get a foothold in America at all. Black Panther, SCLC, Nation of Islam were all monitored by FBI using surveillance and secret tapings. This was the INTELPRO. The mission was to find elements of communism that FBI could then take to court as legitimate cause to ban them. FBI, under J. Edgar Hoover found it almost impossible to dislodge and ban them. They came up with COINTELPRO. Here is how it works if you want to destroy PDP from within its own ranks and humiliate and discredit them in public. You write a letter authored by Bamanga Tukur and send it from his computer to a news outlet in opposition camp. In the letter Bamanga accuses Jonathan of having backdoor meetings with select governors interested in sacking him from chairmanship of the party. Instantly this creates suspicion in their loyalists in the party. Out of nowhere, a letter will be discovered, from an anonymous source written in Jonathan's handwriting and signature and addressed to two governors and Jonathan talked ill of Bamanga and promised the governors he will address their request. Of course they all will individually deny ever writing any such letter. A week later, a voice tape recorder shows up, in it you hear Bamanga on telephone telling someone he does not trust Jonathan one bit and he had to deny that letter publicly to save the party. Do you see the intertwist? This is an old method of imploding an organization from within. It is still being used till today, in improvised form. Israeli security agents were on government contracts recently and in a backlash from opposition accusing the FG of using contracted foreing resource to surveil and monitor opponents the contract was terminated..or so we believe. I hope it is true that Iyabo wrote this letter. If not true, this will be a classic use of COINTELPRO tactic on Obasanjo. |
geeez: I [b]could have sworn it was a theatre at John HopkinsFrom inside you couldnt tell that this is one of those rusted roof Ibadan pictures that Ibos post. Next time we take them inside what is below the brown roof. ![]() |
lakhadimar: I dont think so, i dont think the Nupes can be ruled out like that. Oshodi tapa was a Lagos war general of nupe ancestry who was an adviser to oba kosoko of Lagos who ruled circa 1845-1851. It is said that his descendants are the ones that settled in present day oshodi in Lagos. I am not so sure, i would need someone here like katsumoto, mayor_of_Lagos aljharem, kiriji, shymexx e.t.c that has a deeper knowledge of yoruba history to help clarify thisYou are correct. Let us not expand too ambitiously. Yoruba is distinct, our Obas have authorities that distinguishes them from everyone else. Nupe have never been a Yoruba culture, they dont have Oba or Balogun and dont have Ogun or Olokun, so they are not Yoruba culturally and need not be in our commonwealth. Same for Igalla, they are not Yoruba. Political alliance between Yoruba and Nupe is ancient and cordial, that is all it needs to be..a political alliance. |
abbakacici: the main job of NNPC is to collected the money and deposit at CBN and CBN send the money to Ministry of finance, but the problem occur because sure-p is special program so NNPC deposit the money directly to Ministry of finance, that why CBN is not aware of it, and NNPC does what Ministry of finance do with the moneyNOI is dancing with fire! She is running an Igbo agenda with our money. Everytime a missing money or missapropriation comes up she is in it and the department involved is one headed by an Igbo. This woman is playing with an imminent danger. |
texazzpete: Hmm. If only we had someone who was constitutionally empowered to act for the president when he is unavoidably absent. SOmeone called, perhaps, a Vice President? In line of succession, Senate President if the VP is likewise unavailable. So is Mark going to be in attendance and watch his power usurped? We shall see how well these people understand the order and process of democracy. |
yorke1: I don't know why people are creating mountain out of molehill. What is wrong for the minister to present the budget to the National Assembly? We just like chasing shadows as people and forget to deal with the real issue at hand which is GEJ TILL 2019.Because there is an ordered way of doing things and when you skip that order you introduce disorder which may not immediately be apparent but is sure to eventually cascade down and affect other processes downstream. This can be seen as a precedent. Future administrations could take the liberty to bring a minister of interior to deliver the budget. |
Ngwakwe: Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has been functioning as de facto Prime Minister and nothing surprising about that. She's been functioning as accessory to public fund looting! We do not have a Prime Minister in our constitution, so find another lofty title please. |
mascot87: Whoever fabricated that letter will never use his or her hand to do something good in this life and will never get to be as old as OBJ nor any closer. So shall it be.AséDude, do you know why corruption is pervasive in this country? We got away from taking oath on the virtue of the earth's power and started swearing to a written oath that is meaningless and ineffective. So now everyone has taken liberty in that meaningless oath to do what they want. Here is how to clear the ground on this letter issue. Iyabo should be interrogated privately by the elders of Owu, her fatherland to confess if she wrote thie letter or not. If she maintained she did not, the elders put out invitation with 7days ultimatum asking the author to come and see them privately. On the 7th day if no one has showed up, take the case to Sango, and wait! Thats how you cure looneys. |
Bishop Magic: You are daft. With professors like yourself online to teach drone education, where else can i turn? |
Bishop Magic: OP move this trash thread to Ethnic Section or whatever: https://www.nairaland.com/1559630/gani-adams-itsekiri-leaders-inaugurateYou are not getting your way in the discussion, this does not in any way change the validity and relevance of the topic and contents to real time events in the political landscape. The qualitative discretion of what to do with a post or thread should not be advised by one who is participatory in the noise he created but which he ended up drowning in. |
Bishop Magic: Which Yoruba returnees?Like I said, you suffer from the same infatuation that troubled Achebe. He wanted to own Lagos, when he couldnt his ambition turned into venom. |
@topic, I want to congratulate all my Itsekiri brothers and sisters and say your leaders did the right thing by inviting OPC to institute its political presence in Warri. By this action the Oduduwa flag, which is rightly your birthright, has been planted on your soil. Have you guys noticed how over the past two years Ijaw citizen have repeatedly dominated Delta political talk? Everytime there is a flashpoint they issue statement calling attention to Delta and Ijaw. Is Ijaw the only people in Delta? Yoruba is in Delta too. Its high time we raise that awareness. OPC is our steward in that regard and all Oduduwa children are under their umbrella of socio-cultural brotherhood. |
alj harem: Ok I will ask you some questions which every creole linked man should knowHey Alhj, That bishop guy is Ibo. He knows enough about creole on the surface but not deep to where he would know that all creole families in Lagos were Yoruba returnees. Let him continue to wallow in his Achebe styled infatuation. |
Bishop Magic: This is by far the daftest comment I have ever come across on NL and will not bother to educate you on how drones operate.Well, can this one go into operation? Please educate me on this drone and how it will be operated. It is a unmanned aerial vessel. How do you operate it without grounds control fed by an uniterrupted power supply? Please educate me. Another spell bounding daft post that begs for educationMr, I asked simple rhetorical questions and you are venting hot air out of your a** trying to prove you know the ins and outs of drone. Reconaissance is a different operating mode from assault mission and each can occur successfully independent of the other. Like I said, you appear to have a "drone stuck in your a**"..please get it out and start educating me on what the functions of this drone model will be. Don't go ahead of your shadow only the U.S., China, Israel and Russia have the technology and capacity to deploy and operate assault drones.Isnt that like saying only those countries have the knowledge to design and build a drone? Well, here is one built in Nigeria. Right? Do you have any idea about proprietary rights? The reason countries build their own defense equipments is to have proprietary control and manipulate its limitations. You cannot do that with licensed equipments purchased under defense contracts. This drone is not licensed to Nigeria from a foreign partner, therefore Nigeria can do with it what it wants under certain international protocols and treaties for deployment and operation of an "umanned aerialvehicle" . This liberty will include arming and employing the drone in an air assault. You got that drone out of your a** yet? Before you wish doomsday for this mission capability, know that drones are Intel assets and as such only officers with high security clearance and top brass will have privy access to it's control and intel gathered. How do honest questions turn into apocalyptic paranoia in your mind? No military installation in the entire length and breadth of Nigeria is as fortified and highly secured as Jaji, yet bokoharam got in it and after doing damage looted its armory. If they can do that Jaji no where else is sacred and access-proofed against their intrusion or posting. They just recently destroyed NAF assets. What do you say to that? And even if it was an assault drone, I don't think Bokos have the capacity to hack a GPS tracked and satellited guided droneWho would have thought that a people advocating against western education would be sophisticated enough to manuever armored personnel carrier or sustain an online propaganda warfare. You look at boko through the lens of a stereotypical Southerner who dismisses them as hungry and tattered almajiris. Some of them hold advanced degrees in engineering. On second thought..i think you should leave that drone where its stuck up in your a**. Id hate to imagine your fvckery after you are relieved of it. |
smartchoice: Mayor thanks for your mode of contribution, but I hold Fayemi responsible for not completing the Specialist hospital that could have complemented the Teaching Hospital, for not adequately equipping the hospital and not giving sufficient allocation to the hospital but expecting them to be a money generating venture! For health jamborees like ilera laafin (health in the palace) and that which was done as constituency projects of lawmakers but refusing to put a system which can be self sustaining in place! Yet he spent 0.6billion naira on these jamborees!I understand. The whole purpose of DAWN is to benchmark and use Best Practice in applications where we need to standardize and deploy improvements to society. This agenda is a return to the Awo doctrine of socialism. It worked in past decades but we departed from that due to several political factors. It will take many years to get our foothold strongly in it again, moreso that the vanguards of that doctrine are all dead. So politically we need stability. Each time we elect a different political agenda we interrupt our forward movement. We need consistency in party platform. We need not feed into the Nigerian furore and politicking, its nothing but chaos everywhere we look and our land, thank God, is the only one at peace and sustaining growth. We have plenty to be thankful for, in our people, our governors and our resolve. If we attack our governor about not completing a hospital, what do we want people in Maiduguri to say? Everyday they wake up could be their last day! They cant hide from it..boko haram kill them on streets, and if they stay indoor for safety they take the assault into their community and slaughter them in their house. Lets not spoil for little things, Glory be to God for our little wants..we are safe and not under occupation by a terrorist, neither are we traumatized by kidnappers and neither is our land under a threat of imminent danger. Again, the loss of Bunmi is tragic, and I want to remind you again that even in best hospital facilities and in best hands, God is the ultimate owner of the life. If he decrees its end, no amount of care or skill and equipment can stall it. |
Drone didnt fly ke ![]() Let me ask some pertinent questions. 1. Who will supply "uniterrupted" power for the ground controls and support? I dont want to hear ground support lost power and control of an armed drone. 2. In addition to assault missions, would it do surveillance as well? 3. Since boko has infiltrated government and army and air force, in the event bokoharam decides to use the drone for an assault mission, is there an overide from the ministry of defense? |
Smartchoice, I believe your heart is heavy with grief over the loss of your sister/friend and you are visibly upset. Beautiful wife, starting new family and generation, all that is wasted now. May her soul rest in peace. Where do we draw the line and stop expecting miracles from our governments and governors? There are still people who have their child delivered at home with no electricity or running water and mother and child survive. There mothers who have deliveries in taxi cabs or molue and survive. Same in hospitals. Once in a while we will get news as well of those who never made it, regardless of the circumstance of birth. Some years back my cousin, a senior registered nurse, went into delivery room, attended by her colleagues and staff, her baby made it out but she never did..they could not control her blood loss from a breached birth. What has that got to do with Lagos State Governor? Everyday people die on our roads and we blame government. The best maintained highways anywhere in the world is in US. Blood is spilled everyday on US highways. They take account of the circumstance. I want you to take account of Bunmi's circumstance and reflect on that maturedly instead of politicising her death. You can blame Fayemi if he had any direct input in which such influence, like telling hospital not to provide her with oxygen, led to her death. Absent of that you should honor Bunmi with respect and grace..dont put her blood on the head of Fayemi if he had no hand in her death. |
