Sloan, I see your comment, no need to quote but want you to know I endorse it. Good job pal! |
sagombugo: Jonathan's Modus Operandi is becoming very clear! And that is to get broke, hungry and relevance-seeking political spent forces who can attack his political enemies and Pronto, you will be rewarded abundantlySago, I like your analysis and I must say honestly that you did well hitting all the points well. In addition to being the most politically sophisticated the Yoruba is also acutely aware of the tiers of power and the role, independently or interchangeably, that they serve in the community. Afenifere was almost dead, but it rescucitated and the rescue came from DAWN. At the exit of Awolowo, Abiola stepped in. Abiola was too ambitious and opposed to the Awo doctrines but he wanted to be the new godfather. I dont know how anyone could rule over Yoruba politics and not embrace the gains of AG and UPN..its impossible in the Nigerian political landscape. Awo doctrines are codes and principles designed as a plug-in, an interface, that will allow Yoruba to survive and dominate Nigerian politics. It has worked successfully and is working even as we speak now. Abiola's attempt to walk away from that led to political factions and a big resulting impact on Agbekoya and Afenifere. Afenifere was almost wiped out. The same episode produced OPC. As at this moment Awo doctrines are the guiding principles in Western politics. DAWN is championed by Afenifere, whose membership are distributed in all the major parties in Yorubaland. On political matters Yorubas will take orders from ACN (APC is temporary) before they follow Afenifere guidelines. On the other hand on issues of social and community development, we will abandon ACN and listen to Afenifere. In other words, Afenifere is to Oodualand what ACN is to Nigeria. Yorubas ignored Tinubu and went on to participate in National Dialogue but we also ignored Afenifere and supported Tinubu's merger into APC. Each has its role and we can read it! Why is Yoruba relaxed on the issue of presidency? The answer is because we have already kick started a pseudo regional government and we know in another election or two the central power will be reduced significantly..in terms of social growth, which is our core and principal interest, we get more from DAWN than we do from Nigeria. We are there now in APC to use our leverage to pilot the destiny of Nigeria. |
Judging by the evil called Africa, nigeria especially, isn't time to question God as to why he visits to good people of Asia, like Japan and Philipines with earthquake and tsunami. Why has God not visited with Africa with monumental plague that should put Africa out of its misery.
idiot!Africans suffer under the burden of political corruption and public looting; many dont have basic needs of life; ethnic clashes and bloodshed; and many many more daily tragedies..and we live under that in all season and year in year out. What do you call that? At least in these other places they get hit once in 5yrs. |
gurnam: Eddiotts.....!Its a political topic, these guys are always lost in the wilderness when commenting or responding to political issues. Their women should be the ones responding on this issue and if I recall correctly they are doing that, with a planned protest visit to NASS. Anytime a political statement comes from East and is issued by a male expect two things: Absurdity Entertainment. |
berem: Should I now congratulate him for that? Give him trophy for the best governor |
jassie: @MayorWe have spent the past two years talking about Governors in the West and focused on Lagos in particular. Im interested in Eastern Governors going forward. So I will not address the points you raised here but I will tell you Fashola is on right course. |
Why wouldnt he, sitting on a state with less than 2million registered voters..he has far too much money to know what to use it for, just buy and distribute expensive gifts. ![]() |
The |
biafranqueen: less then 2 million what are you talking bro over 1 million people live in Nnewi alone. The crime in Anambra is not as bad as people think and an independent investigation came in to prove it don't act like you can't remember the crime index, it is just because the media reports the Eastern crime more then the west My town is filled to the capacity with half of the residents coming from outside. If the a West started from scratch the way we did you could not be talking this rubbish every building and house in Anambra was built by the people not the white colony masters so stop comparing. The busiest port is where the money is at like New York like California, don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. Only the Igbos can bring change through a grassroots effort that has already been activated and has been the reason anything has gotten done. Irresponsible leaders, can not lead responsible people. Only we can make the changes from the bottom up. The poverty in the West needs attention stop focusing on us the West is just not Lagos show me development in the other Western states before you point one finger at us, because four more are pointing back to you. Please open a thread showing us the progress of the other Western states! The structural concrete and cement and iron steel in Lagos is not what gives the city its charisma and romance, its the Yoruba culture! Pull up historical accounts of Lagos before it became a colony and it was already a popular harbour and port. Take Lagos out of the equation and my points are still very valid for Ibadan, the seat of Yoruba political supremacy. We built what we have in West from ground up as well and continued to multiply on them. This is not about who has what..but rather about why the total voters registration in Anambra is less than 2million. We are talking official data here, not some fabricated number out of thin air. Weve been told many times that you are millions here and millions there..over the past 6months we have seen data that repeatedly invalidated the spurious claims. |
biafranqueen: From my own small observation men between the ages of 25-50 in my town don't really believe in the voting process, as much as the women do. The men I have spoken to in my family feel that they are in business and what happens in Ziks house, will not stop their business. If something comes up that involves the government they break out a check book and do the needful, many of them donate heavily to candidates but don't vote. Why I don't know, to be honest. But I think it has to do with not trusting the voting system process. What they know is no matter who makes it to the Governors mansion, they are all money hungry blood suckers, so why waste time. You hardly see so called big boys drive in with entourage to cast vote. The voting card is something that people like to hold in their wallet, so they will go to the town hall or obtain one through an agent. I know so many of my family members that refused to travel from the North and the East to vote. As one poster stated Anambrians have traveled abroad for decades, if a family has 9 children then maybe one will still be in Anambra. So to answer your questions they are spread out in the whole world Anambra State Association has over 100,000 members in the US alone. I have family on every continent except Antarctica. Holding that card is more of a sense of belonging then a political action. The family structure and extended family and traders apathy to voting has no statistical bearing on the official number of how many people are registered to vote. The official record stand at 1.764million statewide. Where are the manpower and headcount in Anambra state? Do you know what this translate to? Using voters registration record as a subset of population count, Anambra State(with 21 LGs) has same population as about a local govt, say Alimosho LG of Lagos State. In actual figures, Alimosho has more than 2million registered voters. This would mean Anambra, population wise is the scale of a Local Govt and Peter Obi is at the administrative level of a Local Govt Chairman. |
djon78: I somehow see point in what Mr Mayor is saying. Why is the migratory pattern of our people one dimensional, why other Nigerian tribes don't have a substantial pert of their people in our land?Close to it! There was news yesterday of Fashola being shutout and rejected when he went to pay condolence on the death of Omojola. The reason he was rejected is simple - his open door policy did not recognize Omojola and his activism, so in death the people question the sincerity of his condolence visit. We are very respectful of authority and give it plenty esteem, in return we expect accountabilityand honor. A dishonorable and delinquent authority does not survive in Yorubaland. If Obi was a Yoruba governor he would not dare go and invest millions in Iboland or Hausaland and pay income tax in those lands while our youths are in need of jobs and income at home. Obi can do that to Anambra because there is no probity in the land. The more Ibo youths port out and go elsewhere to live the less social burdens and economic demands on the Governor and therefore to an extent, they are the true benefactors of the one dimensional migration of youths. They create a socially hostile environment to dissuade big investors from their home states and thus raise unemployment to intolerable level. Youths must go where the investment is..and thats West! Why has a Governor with a voting population of less than 2million people not being able to curb widespread crime in eight years? Because the crimes serve as superficial deterrent to investorsnot to bring jobs to Anambra. Jobs in Anambra would mean population swell and the Governor has to work double hard to run the state and administer resources. If Ibos will not take the initiative to probe their governors and bring about a change, we have "social awakeners" in West to bring them to the grim reality of a "non-united Nigeria"; deportation will serve as one of those social policies. |
KIRIJI: THE NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS IN ALIMOSHO LOCAL GOVERNMENT ALONE IS LARGER THAN THE ENTIRE POPULATION IN IBOLAND. WHY IS IBOLAND DESOLATED? WHY IS EVERYONE RUNNING AWAY FROM ALAIBO?Well said!! |
talktimi: my focus primarily was on migratory tendencies due to trade in the entity called Nigeria but your argument that the igbo's are modern day migrants on international settings is on the right track. I dont think any Nigerian governor in his right mind will dare use deportation as a political tool except he/she wants to invite a xenophobic crisis of unimaginable proportions on his head coupled with the legal aspect of trying to explain what right a state govt has to deport a fellow Nigerian citizen from such state which is against the constitution bearing in mind that the 1999 constitution as amended is far superior to any other document in this country. A semi decent lawyer would have a field day ripping such govt to shreds in court and demanding payment for damages caused due to infringements on human rights. Once again i see no reason why Ngige should be forced down the throats of Anambra people and now under the threat of deporting an entire ethnic group from a region ? Thats crass at best and it would have a very ugly repercussion which would most likely put the unity of this nation at risk. This will be the 2nd or 3rd governorship election which Ngige has contested and lost including the sham that kept him in power for 2yrs+ before his debacle with Chris Uba and the okija shrine + kidnapping wahala, lets play the devils advocate here but doesnt this show that Ngige has never really been an Anambra choice ? Of course i cant really speak empirically for them since ive not set foot in that state for 7yrs but at least he won his senatorial seat with a more "yoruba" party than the APC ie the ACN so your argument that he lost because Anambra people said he's in a yoruba party doesnt really hold water, there are other more cogent reasons that can be attributed for his "failure" a word i use since supplementary elections will still be held very soon. The yoruba/igbo rivalry has and will always be there till we sit down and discuss the terms of our existence as a country of which i personally support a shift back to regionalism rather than this our present states structure. Once again i see no reason why Ngige was forced down the throats of Anambra peopleOn whether or not he lost on account of his associations, you are a biased contributor. His rejection is a payback for his defense of deportation from Lagos. You should read news and keep current on national affairs. On the validity of deportation, there are many loopholes in the constitution and in which the law defaults to the customary courts for discretionary power. Like I said, its no secret that we fervently despise Ibos in the West and they know it. You talk about a disunity. I wonder if you can point me to any shred of unity in this country since 1906. What unity do you now expect 100yrs later? National dialogue is not for decoration. Have you heard Afenifere lately? Thats the custodian of Awolowo's doctrines and the stewarts of the Oduduwa genetic print - omoluabi! If you want to know how Yoruba view Ibo, Hausa or anyone else for that matter read their inputs to President Jonathan on what Yoruba wants ..total cleansing of Yorubaland. It will happen! lol!! ![]() |
biafranqueen: I can tell you that every Anambraian in the diaspora has a voters card but not many of them travel home like my family does during election, in fact I know of none. November is a time where most of the business men that live in our town travel abroad before the holidays.Biafranqueen, Im using the number of registered voters on official record, not the number of votes cast. Of course the registered is always higher than the number that voted and this is so anyehere in the world. In Anambra the total number of registered voters statewide is 1.764M. Can you explain where the people are? |
agbameta: Even with the canceled votes @ 131, 000, what difference does it make? 451,826 INEC recognized electorates remains abysmal and grossly pathetic...Let's add a million population to cushion the margin of error, it will bring the total to 2.764M adults of voting age for the whole state. Obi has built hotels and megamall outside Alaigbo. Why? Because he does not trust his own people not to ruin his properties and business. From leadership to citizen, everyone is abandoning Alaigbo on an exodus. I can pull 3M voting age adults out of Ikeja alone. Agbameta, keep this data, new information to have in the back pocket when we need it. |
talktimi: 1st i am not ibo, i just like fairness and dont like tribalism of any kind especially the one where you threaten to "deport" a people for failing to vote your candidate in a state election outside your region. Thats at best a tyrannical statement and puts the democratic credentials of you and the party you represent to question. In order not to derail this thread anymore i'll like you to do a little research on the migratory pattern on the ibo's and you'll definitely find out that they've been a travelling people trade/commerce wise long before the colonial era. This country is blessed with a rich and diverse culture of which ive been privileged to come across quite a few so i usually dont like it when one is singled out for racial attacks knowing fully well that we all have our bad sides as human beings.Bring out those historical tracks and share with us which foreign lands Ibo travelled before colonial time. I repeat, deportation is a social awakener, it was not used as a political tool before..but with the outcome of this election, I see no reason why it should not. There are new revelations in Ibo politics, Yoruba will respond to it in due time when the dust settles. Ngige was not rejected because he was in APC, his rejection is attributed to his contacts with Yoruba. Thats raw politics! No ethnic group plays raw politics more than the Yoruba. Even the Ibos themselves know, in due course they will hear from us. This is a Yoruba-Ibo rivalry, it has nothing to do with bigotry, racism, tribalism, or any other things you want to call it. You should step to the side if its too hot for your spirit to endure. |
There is a social dilemma in children hawking wares on the street. Truly, street hawking, whether by children or adults, should be regulated. A society must constantly probe for new ways to improve and grow. Street hawking should be managed proactively and controlled for social balance. I laugh at your Yoruba claim. We shall soon know if you are indeed Yoruba or not. ![]() |
talktimi: you see the primary job of any political party is to sell itself to the electorate of which after the elections, if said party is not satisfied with the outcome, there's the option of going to an election tribunal. Your claim that its purely a lack of infrastructure that makes igbo's move to the sw is on the mischievous side since right from foundation, they have always been known to be a travelling people mainly as businessmen/merchants and thus you find them even in the most remote villages in the ss right up to the north & indeed countries all over the world and not just your beloved sw. Therefore your threat to deport them for not voting your prefered candidate is at best a childish blackmail which can be carried out but...Actually, Ibo is a modern age traveller and migratory movement is recent in your history, we will not go into that here. What I said is not limited to Ibo moving out but also that no other ethnic group is interested in moving in to invest in East. So it is even more insulting to say you are a traditional traveller from time immemorial but yet the cultural exchange between your culture and others is one directional. Do you not see the gravity in that? Deportation is not a threat, its a reality and a necessary remedy. Anambra is receiving billions of dollars from federal accounts to cater to just 1.764 million voters. Its IGR is zero! Yet if you go to any Yoruba State you will find no less than 5million adult Ibos, subsisting and feeding free on Yoruba soil. Deportation is a social awakener! |
Vital, the guy in police uniform look like GEJ. |
Sincere 9gerian: Following the crushing defeat suffered by APC in the Anambra election, the battle has now shifted to the print and electronic media. There is currently an ongoing, systematic and well funded campaign in the media to rubbish and discredit the Anambra election. It is important to look at where the country has been, where it is presently and where it will be 4yrs from now, the length of term the Governor will be in the seat and during which you cannot reverse the decision made today. If SE is on the move to bring all Ibo states into the APGA fold, then this a great win. We know thats never going to happen. The only states enjoying stability and growth are APC states. All other states are burdened with security challenges in one form or the other and are trailing on development charts. Take us through past gains in APGA controlled states and compare with APC states. So who is the looser, APC or the people of Anambra? I commented on another post about the fact that registered voters in Anambra totalled 1.764M poeple. Thats the whole of Anambra State! This is alarming!! APGA has done a horrible job uplifting your society and the manpower has thus depleted significantly and relocated to APC controlled states to find proper upliftment. You ought to be saddened that an opportunity to duplicate in Anambra the same appeal and charisma that draws your brothers to West, and had APC won would reverse the exodus and bring back manpower and growth to the land, was missed. Can we expect APGA to bring growth and development? Look at their track, its empty! In fact we expect more people porting out and heading West. It will do APGA good to build a refugee shelter in Onitsha to receive future deportees from APC. How does the rejection of Ngige in Anambra affect Fashola or Amosun or Aregbe or even Tinubu? No loss..!! Anambra is the looser here. |
I thought it meant justice of the peace. So something relating to law. Anyway, are all these titles necessary. LMAO. This is serious. So anytime i write something i should put all the associations i belong to. See gobe abeg.
I didnt know marotzke had answered it before my response. I think marotzke said it best, the professional careers are designed to uplift society but some of us went to school for the honor to uplift our individual ego, as is visible with this professor. |

Mods, Go and review this post, it has no political value here. I suggest a relocation as you have done with similar posts. https://www.nairaland.com/1522101/what-fani-kayode-said-russian-plane#19625870 |
Israelmossaic: Has Russian Aviation Minister been sacked? Just asking plsFFK, if he was a Russian, would have the right and be justified to express his views, we know he is not Russian, therefore your post has zero political input. I will ask for a relocation. |
Voters registration data contain quantitative knots that can reveal useful information needed to qualify the status of a community. The voters turn out reveal even more; from the numbers you can instantly see the manpower on the ground. In a state like Anambra, the flagstaff and standard bearer of Alaigbo, I would expect voters count in an important election to be in the millions at their respective LGs. Look at the numbers below..Im forced to conclude that Alaba alone in Lagos has more Ibo population on the ground than entire Anambra State. So where is the federal allocation to Ibo Governors going, where is the population to spend the money on The entire Anambra State has 1,764,000 voters, where are their citizens![]() Obiano polled 174,710 votes to come first, the first runner-up, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Comrade Tony Nwoye polled 94,956 votes to place second, while the Dr. Chris Ngige of APC had 92300. |
Prof. Nwabueze is the chairman of planning committee, Prof. Mike Echerue is the Deputy, while Elochukwu Amucheazi is the secretary Fund raising is under the chairmanship of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Achebe. Is that not the Nwabueze that said he did not want to sit on the National Committee? lol. What is the fund raising for ![]() We don’t need to ethnicise this, this is a massive issue about how sinceEverything put together since 1906 should be reviewed for separation. |
What a twist of fortune! ![]() Ibo women are politically more conscious than their men. Unlike the politically inept Ibo men, the women are quick to recognize a breach in social contract and to demand a redress. Perharps all the parties in SE should be fielding women guber candidates going forward. |
Thank you OP for bringing this issue to public awareness. Monsanto is not mankind-friendly. Their history is littered with controversies and questionable trade practice and deadly experimentations with weapons of mass destruction. Monsanto is instrumental in the creation of an apocalyptic seed vault in the Norwegian ice frontiers. This is a plant gene bank reserved for rescue in case humankind is biologically or socially devastated by saturated effects of the genetically modified food chain. My attention is drawn to this statement below, I aptly corrected it! : The key to true food security is food sovereignty, and the key to food sovereignty lies in who controls the Monsanto has planted its sovereign power firmly to a point that even the huge and broadly powerful farmers union is no longer a match for them in courts. Allow me to dramatize for you how powerful monsanto has become. Seeds and flowers and plants are typically cross planted and cross pollinated by the natural actions of wind, rain and insects. Whipped up winds can tear corn cobs from the stalk and carry them far away from their plants; runoff from rain can wash away crops, uprooting them from one place and supplanting them elsewhere; seasonal bees can also contribute to the gene redistribution effect. If farmer A purchases and plants one of monsanto's patented genetic corn seed during planting season, he is doing so under a license contract. The contract covers many rights and privileges belonging to monsanto. One of them states to the effect that unless farmer B, farmer C, farmer D and so on..have also been licensed to reproduce this genetic corn seed, then if found on their farm or their harvest, they are liable to compensate monsanto for the yield from those cross planted/cross pollinated seeds and plants and flowers. In effect, farmers B, C, D have infringed on proprietary rights of monsanto to the exclusive ownership of the corn gene, even though its presence on their farm is involuntary and due only to acts of nature. Very absurd isn't it? Imagine that I lay claim to the color red and lobbied for its regulation to take all natural red color out of circulation. Only way anybody can use red is to buy my red dye. So that if you do a painting using my red dye, then you are the only one licensed for its use and if someone made a photocopy or printed copy of your artwork then they have in their posession a color reproduced from my red dye and they owe me money. ooh-laa-laa ! ![]() The age of moral reflection is past, we are in the age of global competition and recognition, Mr Annan is now a global player and even if he kicks against monsanto in Africa, they will sidestep him and find other willing accomplices to do just their bid. Africans dont worship heroes of political conscience, we worship thieves and greedy leaders who are easy puppets for corporate America. Dont blame Annan but continue to raise awareness. You've done a good job! ![]() |
Go here to get updates for 2013 elections. We are waiting for updates on Anambra election results. http://www.inecnigeria.org/?page_id=31 |
karl max: Lagosians are aware of the fraud called lagos state government and all their media propoganda!!!come 2015 we would boot dem out of power!! They can continue their propoganda on the internet and the pages of newspaper but the electorates are wiser nowThis is not a Lagosian culture at play here.what you are witnessing is Yoruba culture, a perverse demand for public accountability. |
