PoliticsRe: Kalu Invests Massively In Eastern Nigeria by MayorofLagos(m): 3:50pm On Oct 08, 2013
Adejoro74: Dr Kalu went with 4 sets of foreign business partners, some of whom are working on his oil tank farm and Steel Rolling Mill located in his home town of Igbere, Abia state, which will employ over 4000 workers at completion. OUK is also building the largest oil tank farm in Africa, stationed at Ikot Abasi, Akwaibom state, the state of his host, Gov Akapbio . 160 thousand metric tons.
I saw "oil tank farm and steel rolling mill located in..." and I instinctively knew this Ibo guy has left something out.

Then I got to "OUK is also building the largest...", I said yep..that's it, adejoro has corrected himself and branded it Ibo style.

Yoruba has a term or phrase "ka fenu shatta", meaning to verbally disparage a person, but in practical use "to flog or break with the tongue".

This is best done with owe - proverbs. When you are dealing with a non-Yoruba target you refrain from owe since it wont make meaning to them. Femi is very articulate in English, great mastery, and he has substituting English for Yoruba owe and has done excellent job using his tongue to flog targets.

Its a Yoruba thing, its not gender specific..but it has a sharper and deep cutting effect when it is done by a female tongue. lol grin
PoliticsRe: REVEALED: Why Undertakers Are Angry Over Agagu's Burial by MayorofLagos(m): 2:40pm On Oct 08, 2013
We are full of shyytte in this country. Vanity has replaced our sense of practical value and propriety.

Whats the need of importing undertakers from another state just to bury a dead body? Wassup with all the pomp and flashiness...the body cant dance to the tunes, cant feel the merriment and the money could have been better spent feeding beggars rather than hiring trumpet and drum majors to make noise on the street for media cameras.

ARE THERE NO UNDERTAKERS LOCALLY IN ONDO STATE THAT COULD BURY AGAGU?

If there are, they were cheated and is an insult to make a statement that they were not good enough, not skilled enough to bury their ex governor.

Lets make some noise and shut down the voice of Lagos undertakers demanding more stupidity.

Rip to the dead.

Here is what Tony Smith said on IFA.

Authors: Frank Dodd (Tony) Smith Jr.

Ancient Africa developed IFA divination with 256 Odu analagous to the Real Clifford Algebra Cl( 8 ) and 16 Orishas analagous to the 8+8 Spinors of Cl( 8 ) but in Africa IFA was transmitted by oral tradition and not written down.

Humans emerging from Africa via the Arabian Sea settled in nearby India where ideas of IFA were written in the Sanskrit Rig Veda and encoded in Pachisi. By about 500 B.C. Pachisi evolved into Tarot. By about 1300 A.D. Tarot and some ideas of IFA were known in Mallorca where Ramon Llull used them to develop structures of the D4 and D8 Lie Algebras that lived in the IFA Clifford Algebra Cl( 8 ) and its tensor square Cl( 8 )xCl( 8 ) = Cl(16). Although Llull's work was preserved in writing in Mallorca, his ideas were rejected by the Intellectual Establishment of Paris and remained dormant for centuries.

Around 1890 Killing and Cartan rediscovered Llull's Lie Algebras. Only in the 1900s did the work of Cartan as further developed mathematicaly by Jovet, Sauter, and Riesz and as applied by Dirac to physics show how a D8 half-Spinor could be added to D8 itself to get E8 Physics and to see how E8 Physics lives inside IFA Cl( 8 ).

It has taken until now (the 2000s) for the formal Written Human Culture to catch up with the informal Oral Ancient African Culture in understanding a realistic Unified Theory of the Laws of Nature.

Katsumoto: 1. Do you see how you expose your ignorance? Do you think only Africans were enslaved? Or what slave era are you referring to? Did I state that I was restricting my catchment area to Africa alone? Or did the presence of Hindu worshippers and Buddhists not give you a proper context?

2. If you don't know the meaning of barter, I suggest you pick up a dictionary. In any case, barter means the exchange of goods without the use of money. I was simply implying that slaves are exchanged for another product or service - mirrors, umbrellas, sack of potatoes, etc.

3. Are you blind? Did you not read where he stated that carvings were taken from shrines. Natural relics were taken yes but since his comment was about Ifa, I want him to elucidate further without regards to Ifa artifacts that were taken.

4. My point stands - his forebearers may have been unclad and jumping from tree to tree with monkeys; that's no reason to assume that others were.

5. Juxtaposing practices from different eras and areas to prove a point is both lazy and intellectually fraudulent. Any criticism of a practice or culture must be restricted to that culture. What has what happened in Calabar be applied to Yorubaland? Or was Mary Slessor working in SW Nigeria?

You should take your own advice. If you had taken your own advice, you would have realized that slavery was not restricted to Africa.

Where are all these new monikers springing out from?
Let there be no doubt....

Sincere 9gerian: No wonder. I suspected something was wrong with these guys. Now we know most of the worshippers at Tinubu's shrine on this forum are idol worshippers.

There's no justification for introducing minors to idolatry. If Aregbe and his indolatrous partners are keen on propagating Ifa and the worship of other idols, they should do that at higher institutions. They should leave innocent children out of their evil agenda.
This is why SNC must kick off soon so each region can operate within the window of its cultural values.

PoliticsNairaland Weigh In On The SNC by MayorofLagos(op): 6:03pm On Oct 07, 2013
Everyone of us, at one time or another, have been at the cross-roads of decision making...that fork in the road, at which your action, thoughts and circumstance of events demand of you to choose between one or multiple paths to carry you forward. A lot of times the forwardness is irreversible; and that's the fear that torments most of us standing still at the fork, sober and vulnerable. We wish at this moment for some oracle to come to our aid and hint of what lies ahead. The past experience and footprints is all we have at that moment to serve as our navigation forward.

Our country Nigeria is at its own cross-roads. How should we navigate forward on the topic of Sovereign National Conference? Where did we start and how can the footprints of our past help us in this journey forward so that we are not cheated out of the benevolent reward awaiting a successful choice and decision?

Nairaland, wake up and join in, give your voice, share your emotions, open up and speak loud and clear. To every ethnic person, regardless of your majority or minority status, whether you are literate or illiterate, whether you are school drop out or graduate, whatever belief you practice or life style you live, this process is the equalizer for you - this is the place where your background and bias and stereotypes are reduced to zero; everyone is equal.

As a start, I encourage and beg contributors to please view (if you can) the video of the lady executed by bokoharam the other day. This precursor is to spice up your emotions and elicit your humanity on this exercise; thats what this SNC calls for, our humanity. Our humanity rejects inhuman treatments. When you see a person in distress and at point of life or death you dont ask what tribe they belong to, you do not ask if they are college graduate or dropout and you dont care if they are prostitute or bank director or what their religion is. Human spirit recoils when it witnesses acts that violates its nature. When a point is reached where the human spirit partakes in acts that violates itself, then we are doomed and an imminent destruction and total tragedy is approaching on our horizon.

We lynch and burn people alive, we bury people alive, we torture and kill people, we shoot and kill people, our roads are daily bathed with blood from vehicular accidents, our land snatch planes out of the sky and kill the occupants, brothers are kidnapping brothers and selling them for gains, we mass produce life and sell babies for rituals, we kidnap virgins for rituals, we attack and execute young sleeping students, we enter church and blow up people in conversation with their Lord, we bound people up and torture them, gouged out their eyes, slice of theor tongue and ears and then lay them down and put knife to their throat and slice them up, then we hoist the lifeless head as a trophy.

Everyone of these atrocities was also recorded on ground in Rwanda in the times leading to and during their genocide. Nigeria has been there before. The current events are ripe for another cycle of genocidal eruptions in lawlessness and order and mayhem.

If GEJ's term is delayed past 2015 to realize completion of the SNC and execute its promises that will be a better option for all of us, East, West, North and everywhere inbetween, than to transition the SNC into an incoming regime that may vacate the policy and throw us back into status quo. The best foot forward is to complete the works of the committee or commission setup for it amd assess the timetable. If the Conference will outlive 2015, then it's best deferred so it takes off with the new administration. If it can be completed in the timeframe, then SNC should progress immediately.

Anyway, going back to a navigation aid through this discussion, please see the following and go to the link and read and familiarize yourself with how we got here and which road to set our course on going forward.

Thanks.

Ngwakwe: Stop this nonsense.

Igbos do not attack other ethnicity, Muslims or traditionist neither do they issue threats for difference in opinions.
Attack here is not limited to just physical blows. The verbal assault and insult of other people's cultural beliefs contain within in it an emotional state of mind which if the right circumstance permits could be extended into physical expression. You have not dealt blows because the circumstance is not in your favor to do so.

Ibos and Hausas are the problems of religious intolerance in this country. You dont tolerate Hausa, they dont tolerate you. You dont tolerate Yoruba but our tolerance is indifferent to you.

PoliticsRe: Bizzare: Aregbesola Introduces Ifa As A Subject In Osun State Schools by MayorofLagos(m): 6:56am On Oct 07, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, said last week that his administration plans to introduce the study of Ifa as one of the subjects in the state’s secondary school. The schools’ computer tablet already have application for Ifa studies.

Ifa is a combination of traditional belief and worship of the gods that remain obvious in the names of the yoruba race. There are other gods that may need studying, Ifa is just one of many traditional ways in yoruba land.

The reason for this choice is not clear but the Governor has spoken, Nigerians really don't care as they have more socio-economic headaches to worry about, but parents may want to take their kids away from public schools on the account of being thought the Ifa ways.

There is a need to increase and sustain the teaching of our culture and values in schools, however, the introduction of the study of Ifa may not be apt for attaining this objective.

Maybe the worshipers of Ogun, Obatala, Sango worshipers etc also clamour for the introduction of their own studies? Should traditional studies be introduced in schools? Please share your thoughts on this as a student!

http://www.earlyface.com/how-about-your-school/governor-aregbesola-introduces-ifa-as-a-subject-in-osun-state-schools/
OP,

Look at the bold.

1 There are many parents that will equally enrol their children and get them to study the philosophy of their ancestors. Its enough studying the philosophy of Europeans and Arabs and others, this is returning to our roots and we love it.

2. The author of this article must not be Yoruba, if he is he is illiterate about the culture.
Ifa is not specific to a deity. Ifa is a manuscript of life. Ogun is a deity, so is Sango. Let me clarofy for you and the author.

Lets say each political party, APC, PDP, APGA, LP, and so on are deities like Ogun, Oya, Sango, and so on. All the parties, regardless of their own manifestoes must atill align themselves to the over-arching document, the Constitution.
In Yoruba culture Ifa is, literally, the Constitution that all other followings align their cults and rites to.

3. Look on the picture of the author, what does his t-shirt say? He is intimidated, not by what Aregbesola is doing but by the fact that Yoruba philosophy will be instituted and integrated into academic studies. In another 50yrs Ifa will be the dominant philosophy in Yorubaland, not Christianity or Islam.

Ngwakwe: You have great understanding of what this project should resemble, going back to the past to restructuring whatever is wrong with this union.
Thanks Ngwakwe. I wonder why media is intimidated, no one in the media is driving the conversation. I can already foresee a derailment of the goal going by the attitude in media. We are getting one side of the chatter - the democratic voice; we would like to get the ethnic voice as well.
PoliticsRe: Nwabueze Quits As National Conference Row Grows by MayorofLagos(m): 5:14am On Oct 07, 2013
No, Nwabueze is upset over something else and it will be revealed soon.

There is huge gap between matters of ethnic culture, nativity, value system and that of a constituted democratic process.

I dont know about other groups but Yorubas are not concerned about 1914 alone, we are also disatisfied about 1906; we did not consent to either union that we were forced into and want out of it or rearrange it in ways that our interest in it is fulfilling.

This SNC situation is a matter of nativity and race. The process should draw a racial map of Nigeria. Each race should convoke within its group and appoint a single voice to speak for it in the national conference. Whether you are 1million in population or 50million; one voice per race. Ethnics should identify with a racial type.

Keep NASS out of this because it is a democratic process empowered by constitution of Nigeria and not customary laws of the races.

Jigawa is a state, not a race, therefore the utterances of Lamido are inconsequential and ought to be put aside.

Tinubu is speaking for APC, which is not a race, therefore his utterances are of no consequence to the mission.

We need to listen to Egbe Omo Oodua and Afenifere, Ohanaeze, Arewa Elders Forum and other racial groups. Tinubu, Lamido and NASS should step aside. This issue is above their interest and sphere of responsibility.

You sound insecure. Nevertheless, let's not quibble over terminologies.
My question still is, where does Afenifere come down in this present disagreement?
Hausa says it must be based on population (a convenient advantage for the North)
Igbo says tribes, zones should be equally represented.
What do you say?
Feel free to inch towards the North's hankering, but at least have the decency to inform the rest of us.

Finally, that unnecessary detour to demonize Ojukwu and your simplistic account of the events that led up to the civil war both make your argument inconsistent, and without depth.
