The OP I believe is a deist cos he said religion and God are very different thing, he did not mention any God in his writing, so I WILL ASSUME HE IS A DEIST. . . . .He just concludes that God must have created the universe without telling us who and what such a God is. . .If he gave a particular definition like Yahweh or Allah then we will have some thing to work with and refute. The OP's argument basically is that the universe had a creator and that creator is what he calls God. . . .Why jump into such a conclusion? My position is that no one know who or what created the universe, no one knows its or their nature, why it or they created it, for what purpose and when exactly it was created assuming the universe has a creator(s). . . The OP is jumping the gun and ascribing what we don't know to some God as an explanation adds more problem to the issue. . .I will ask four questions. . .

1)Very long ago "ancient days", what percentage of phenomena were explained as "the work of God", compared to the "natural/scientific explanation" for events and things happening around?

2) As we have moved forward in time and advanced, what happens to those relative percentages of events that were explained as "God did it"?

3) Were there any times when the ratio swung back towards "god" answers compared to "science" answers?

4) How many instances are there of things being shown conclusively to be the work of any God any where with conclusive evidence?

The OP seems to be veering towards a "God of the gaps" explanation for things we can not explain. Which, from an individual's viewpoint at any particular point in time, may just be reasonable. But I think that consideration of the four questions above would tend to show the overall flaw in such a line of thinking.

I want us to look more closely to the ideas of volcanoes, diseases, plagues, or other massive world events for examples. Thousands of years ago volcanoes could not be explained. Common era thinking and present science was simply NOT there. So volcanoes could only be explained as "its too incredible, massive, and unbelievable. God must have done it!" Or, God must be angry with us, he spews this very hot stuff out of the floor that is hotter than anything known, and could wipe out entire lands of people animals and plants. Because it could not be understood, or explained at that time it was therefor God or the Gods that did it (or so they thought). Anytime in human history, whenever something can't be explained, people cling to the idea that God did, rather than thinking that maybe we can't explain it NOW, but it doesn't mean there isn't an explanation.The God did it hypothesis has never really expl\ined anything beside arrtibuting phenomena to some unseen, invisible and imaginary entities. . . .

God will not prove his existence to men. He has created the world for man’s use. He created time, space, light and matter and indeed all there is but he is not subject to those.
