He Baptised those in hades abi? Kid me. I'm not even going to discuss purgatory abi na purgative. If simple salvation that is clearly written in the scriptures is generating this amount of controversy I wonder what your conjectural purgatory will. NEXT! |
I wonder who baptised the criminal at the side of Jesus on the cross? ![]() |
Ubenedictus: correction on d bolded, verse 41 didnt say those wu were saved were baptise. It says those wu received his word were baptised, peter earlier said batism was 4 d remission of sins and the reception of d spirit, so those wu received d word were beptised so their sins will b 4given and they will recieve d spirit. In oda word this simply confirms 1 pt, baptism now saves u!what does it mean to accept/ receive the word? What was the word to receive? Does it tally with Romans 10 : 9-10? Religious bondage is the most difficult to break. At this rate you would deny Jesus' words over what you were fed by God knows who. I think I am done here. Keep playing dice with salvation and living in uncertainty. I am living in health, full of faith and loaded. Thank God. |
![]() just as expected. You can't discuss based on the word. Your lapses will be exposed. Vituperations next I'm sure. I have passed a message. Many will learn. I give God the glory. |
try69: The phrase "of water and the Spirit" (Greek, ek hudatos kai pneumatos) is a single linguistical unit. It refers to being "born of water and the Spirit," not "born of water" on the one hand and "born of the Spirit" on the other. You haven't said anything new. But I agree with most of your exegesis. Now proceeding further. Acts 2 : 21 whoever shall call on the name of Jesus shall be saved. What does it mean? This statement was made by the same Peter. He preached Jesus to them. He explained how he was killed and how he had resurrected. He implored them to accept the lordship of Jesus christ. They said what shall we do? Then he told them Repent (change your mind) and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Then they accepted Jesus lordship. Verse 41 nails it. Then everyone that had accepted Jesus and was saved was then baptised. Period. This is in Peters day. In Philips day. In Pauls day. Please save that 21st century hocus pocus bogus you are trying to sell. It was the order in bible days. Ask your priests where they got their own order from. I have accepted the bible ordained way. |
chukwudi44: One gets born again by believing in ones heart that Jesus died in their stead and confessing with ones mouth that he resurrected to justify their salvation.someone that is born again and someone that is saved are they different? Was Paul baptized first or did he accept and confess the lordship of Jesus first? It doesn't matter how long a lie has been in office it will never become the truth. Answer these questions and I can help part of your religious bondage. |
The word of God cannot lie. You can resist it out of sheer ignorance or out of headedness. I believe we are not in contention with regards to if Jesus is the word of God. The question is simple. Why did Nicodemus act surprised? He had heard the term "born again ". He quizzed Jesus further. Do I need to re-enter my mother's womb? Jesus said no. A man must be born of water and the spirit. If he meant water baptism why would he not have said that simply? I asked a question that you have failed to respond to. When John the Baptist said Jesus will baptise people with fire why didn't he burn people up going by your warped logic? Of course John was talking about the Holy spirit. Here is where your ignorance has been using a microphone. In the story of the Ethiopian Eunuch scripture said he was reading the scroll of Isaiah that was talking about Jesus but he didn't know. Philip after having explained the scriptures to him asked him to believe in Jesus. I am using a phone to type. Go and read verse 36 and 37 of the book of Acts chapter 8. It was after he must have done this that Philip baptised him. Ok ask yourself how did the Eunuch learn about baptism? It certainly wasn't in the scrolls of Isaiah. Surely Philip told him about it after he had accepted Jesus. chukwudi44: Mark 16:16 (KJV)he that BELIEVETH first. . .and then is baptised. Do you see it? Why are you putting scriptures without carefully studying them? Have I said water baptism is wrong or done away with? I said water baptism is only relevant after one has done what is written in the book of Romans 10 : 9-10. If you don't grasp that you never will. Keep hiding in your "empty sprinkling and mother church gibberish". I was baptised- I mean wholly immersed in water. I believe in water baptism. I know that it comes after the new birth experience. Cest fini. |
chukwudi44: Tis is your own version of born againism which came almost 2000 years after the birth of Jesus,it was never taught by the church fathers or even the protestant fathers. This simply a new generation teaching!! If I were to chose I would take the words of those who were privileged to have heard from the apostles directly or learnt directly from those who met the Apostles.now this is my problem with you. I have quoted Romans. I have quoted Ephesians. I have quoted Peter. Yet you are resolved to peddling the falsity that what I am showing you from the scriptures came 2000 years later. I prefer to believe PAUL and PETER than any name whose stories verisimilitude I cannot ascertain. Coming to 1 Peter 3:19-22. Peter said baptism which saves you. He didn't end there. He explained further by saying not just merely cleaning you of dirt or sin but by you accepting the lordship of Jesus christ. This is from the same Peter that said we are born again by the incorruptible word of God. if you will be honest and bereft of religious bias can you explain why Nicodemus was surprised when Jesus said except a man be born of water and the spirit he can't be born again? Surely if he meant water baptism Nicodemus (a pharisee) would not have been surprised. He had seen many experience that in his day. It wasn't a rarity. So why was he surprised and confused? Simple, because Jesus didn't mean water baptism. Jesus said except a man be born of water (he didn't say except a man be baptised in water). Now that is a mystery isn't it? That is why Nicodemus was surprised. Oga, it is getting exhausting. The water is the word. The spirit is the holy spirit. That is what Paul said. That is what Peter said. I believe it. That settles it. selah! |
chukwudi44: the problem is not scripture rather it is interpretation of scripture. We atre differing in our interpretaion of Jesus's discussion with Nicodemus.IF you are not mischievous you would have know that was taken from the scriptures. We read the writings of John and the rest of the apostles because we know they were with Jesus and learnt from him.likewise Ireneaus and the rest of them met the Apostles and learnt directly from the Apostles.their writings are not to be taken with a pinch of salt.I would take thw words of Ireneaus who met the Apostles over the words of Kumuyi,Oyedepo,Kenneth haginI know what Jesus said. The question is do you know what he meant? He could not have meant baptism. Nicodemus would have understood because from Jesus next words Nicodemus didn't. John the Baptist once said I baptise with water but one who comes after me will baptise with fire. What did it mean? Physical fire? Of course no. 1 Peter 1:23 clearly says being born again by the word of God . . . Paul in his letter to the Ephesians said the church is washed by water by the word. . . . Jesus said to his disciples you are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Remember that he also had baptised them (because scripture says he Baptised many himself). So why didn't he say they were clean through the water? Well, that's because the thing that can make a man clean is the word. Paul stated " if a man believes in his heart that Jesus is lord and confesses with his mouth his lordship such a person is SAVED". Not going to be but already is. This should not be an area of contention. I believe in water baptism but it doesn't come before the new birth. Water baptism is an outward showing. A sacrament if you please. |
Such a shame again. Not a tad bit of scripture posted. Romans 10 : 9-10. (If I was using a computer I would have pasted the scriptures here for all to see). A simple heart felt study of the bible never hurt nobody. Ephesians 5:26. John the Baptist also said JESUS will baptise people in fire. Why not burn people up? Jokers! 1 Peter 1:23. The scriptures are replete with what Jesus said and meant. If PAUL or PETER didn't understand JESUS then I can't trust Irenaus or any other name you mentioned to. It is that simple. Water baptism isn't irrelevant. Where does it factor in? When the person has already been borne again. Period. |
Pastor Olu T, enough with this scoffers. They read where someone received the Holy spirit and was then baptised and they are still arguing that water baptism refers to being born again. It is really laughable. Scripture clearly shows which activity happened first. There's no need to argue. Those who need to learn and be great will. Water sprinkling ni, Father church ko ![]() |
try69: Please oga how is one born again? Rather, who is a born again? You cannot be a "born again" but you can be "born again". To be born again is to receive the life of God into you. That life supplants the human life that you had at birth. This is what the bible refers to as the recreated human spirit. It is what Jesus meant by being born of the water- the word and the spirit- the holy spirit. This life is indestructible. The greek for it is zoe. I doubt you would know what it is because it is not taught in seminaries. One gets born again by believing in ones heart that Jesus died in their stead and confessing with ones mouth that he resurrected to justify their salvation. That is the bible ordained way. Romans 10:9-10. Water baptism can only happen after this proclamation is made because water baptism is just an outward showing. It is not even a water sprinkling as some believe. The word baptizo refers to an immersion in water but that's for another day. try69: Do all these guarantee salvation?NO they don't guarantee salvation anymore than praying a rosary, bowing to a statue or begging angels will. But if one desires to live the successful christian life he must have them at his beck and call. They're the signs that one truly has Gods spirit resident in them. The religious mind can never grasp this. try69: Go play somewhereI didn't write this for you. I gather that there are a lot of guests that will view this and learn. I have already stated that I have a lot of Catholic friends that are doing mighty things for God. The few of you here assembling a resistance are part of the ignorant and powerless minority. Brace yourself. |
italo: Please translate to English Language.Move along. It is too high for you. |
I thank my God that not all Roman Catholics I know are of the sort that we obtain here on NL. They are born again, tongue talking, seed sowing, disease healing, demon casting christians preaching the word. Of course I have heard or seen them do a few things that are inconsistent with the truth about Gods word but I thank God at least the scales are falling off. Very soon they would comprise of an assembly of powerful christians waiting for the rapture. Afterall Jesus said he isn't going to come back for a feeble praying to angels, bowing to mary statue, the Pope is infallible church. |
^^ You keep going on about the law of the spirit and the law of sin and death. The weakness of moses law is in making people righteous not in showing them what is right and wrong. I can't belabor this. Alwaystrue has tried to explain to you why he referred to it as the law of the spirit. When the woman caught in the act of adultery was brought to Jesus did he reject moses law? No. He upheld it to the standard that God originally intended by saying "yes stone her to death, just make sure you are sinless". Do you get it? He was giving full meaning to the law. Joagbaje asked a question. When Paul said "honor your parents. . ." To the gentiles where did he get it from? Of course it was the OT. Thats proof in itself that the moral principles contained therein weren't done away with as you have erroneously suggested. Nobody here is extolling the law as a justifier. We are only showing you that it is important in showing what is right and wrong for the recreated spirit to live by. I may not have known that "having carnal knowledge" of my father's wife was wrong should I not have seen it in the law. Paul said he may not have known about stealing and murder too. Some don't know why Gay marriages are wrong. The law is what we can point them to. It's that simple. Selah! |
ajayikayod: Bro morning. Pls dont bring in dt part of tithe as mentioned in d Law existed b4 d Law. Its always good to make clear distinction on time and purpose of instructions as given in d bible.Joagbaje has already answered you. God already handed down instructions to Adam and co by mouth or in any way audible. A case in point was the do not eat out of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil instruction he gave to Adam. Subsequently he gave moses the law which he had to write down. The law became an avenue to know the dos and don't s of God. Paul explained that in Romans 3:19-20. The law contained moral and ethical principles that are still relevant today especially in showing what is right and wrong. The apostles made reference to it. They encouraged their followers to do like wise. Is this even a discussion? Jesus didn't abolish the law. He came to fulfill it thereby ushering us into God's only plan for righteousness - through him. We cannot teach or believe otherwise. It foments some of the errors we see today- gay marriages and what not. |
Bidam: If you are on a fault finding mission in the body of Christ..Good luck but i do not wish you God's speed. . .and I do not envy you. |
Joagbaje: Beautiful! If after reading such a response one still veers off into unfounded nitpicking there is no hope for such a person. It is so clear. The apostles used the OT. Paul's epistles were his epistles turned scripture to us. He quoted copiously from the OT in his teachings. How Drummaboy continues to drivel on in incoherent responses boggles me. Joagbaje never said the OT makes a man righteous (justification) he simply said it contains very important principles that are still applicable today and the scriptures give him credence as we can see that the apostles used the OT too. . .alot! People shouldn't try to throw the baby away with the bath water by rejecting the principles of the OT because they want to reject the tithing aspect of it (which already existed before the law was given) |
Happy birthday MOG You've used Gods word to change me. I have followed you as you have followed Christ and I have seen myself make giant strides from glory on to glory. My faith is stronger than ever, I am living in abundance, I am healing the sick around me, teaching the word and restoring faith to many. I can not separate my christian growth from you and the way you teach the word of God. I have listened to a lot of wonderful pastors but you are by far the best. God bless you sir! |
We are greater than we thought. We are beyond looking for the external help. We have what we need inside of us. We have greateness inside of us. We are free. Gloraaaaaaaaaaaaay! |
Good day, A friend of mine who isn't registered on NL was contacted by the above named company concerning some work they want him to do for them. He has done a preliminary search on the company including checking out their website, operations, locations and clientele. But he still isn't satisfied. I'm here to ask fellow NLders for some help on his behalf. Any one that has any form of info about them should please post on this thread. If you've worked with them, how bouyant they are (financially), how accountable and trustworthy, if they've shortchanged you in a transaction, etc. Please don't just view this thread and move on. Help a brother. ![]() THIS IS NOT AN ADVERT FOR THE COMPANY O, I JUST WANT FIRST-HAND info. Danke!! |
^^ Pastors don't receive the tithes for themselves. They are stewards, custodians if you like. They are responsible for seeing that it is put into a godly cause. For example, the use such to pay for the electricity, to fuel the generators, to pay church staff, to service equipment, to help struggling members, to purchase new equipments etc. In larger ministeries they use these tithes to do more. If on the other hand a man of God is given a gift by his members then that one is his own and can choose to do whatever he wants to do with it even though most pastors that I know still give it back to the church in form of tithes (usually more than 10% sef) and seeds and offerings. Pastors too personally pay taxes but you don't expect members who have already paid taxes to govt to still be taxed via the church. That amounts to double taxation and it it wrong! Aren't you aware that Arthur Eze gave GEJs church 1Billion naira and that TY Danjuma gave Emeka Anyaoku 25Million naira as a birthday gift. Don't be jealous, give your life to christ and receive the grace to prosper. |
There's no pleasing this critics. First, it was how do they get their monies? Then when they see it they say it must be through the tithes and offerings. If this news had Dangote in it now you'd have seen many people responding to it and praising his "enterprenurial acumen" and what not. Now that it is a man of God it has become "a compnay with history of laundering money in 2003 and 2008. Give it a break already. Now that you have an idea as to how some of the monies come you should be humble enough to ask God for forgiveness for running your mouths haplessly concerning an issue you knew nothing about. |
So many times and in many situations Gods children find themselves looking for the spectacular thereby missing the supernatural. What's to say that if the child was taken immediately to the hospital he/she wouldn't have died? That's the same rigmarolic answer there. Parents prayed, neighbors came, the child survived and yet you can't see that something miraculous took place? Would you have rathered that the child cough seven times then immediately warm up? That's a carnal way of thinking. . .no offence. At some point Jesus commanded straight healings for blind people and at some other point he spat on the floor, made clay and still used it to heal a blind man. Let him bother about the way (spectacular healings, use of doctors, neighbors etc) all I want to see is the result and in this case the child survived. Shikena! God be praised! |
Is Goshen still responding to Obadiah777? Ah! That one is reading the bible written by Pope Francis na...haba! |
Le Monsieur wouldn't replace Szcezny and he certainly wouldn't do that with Cech. Its not just his style. I'm more inclined to believing that he won't even purchase another keeper. I'm looking more towards signing another striker.that's the only one that's guaranteed. I hope he gets Michu though as I believe that the spaniard is better than that pimple-faced Giroud. |
He didn't even concentrate on showing any affection. He was busy trying to pose for the camera whilst making sure he got the right angles. Narcissist! |
Oga, its not a contribution or a fund-raiser. Its a spiritual principle. I can decide to give above ten percent and call it my tithes-it really depends on my perception of God and love for his word. The essence of giving differs amongst individuals for some give because of the need and some because of their level of perception. For example, Mary gave the most 'expensive' perfume yet to Judas Jesus wasn't worth it-he felt poor people deserved it more. Mary's perception was different. Somebody might see his giving as a means to gain more blessings. Another might give his to aid the church and further the gospel. Let each man give under his own conditions and volition but let them give the tithes. Jesus said do not be like the Pharisees who like to let the world know what they're giving etc. (Paraphrasing) so what do we do? Do we neglect the giving? No. Instead he said but when you give. . . So the issue shouldn't be 'is it still necessary?' 'Who do we give it to?' 'What do they do with it?'. Just give it- the tithe, your offerings and seeds. Simple. |
I can't take people like zikky serious because they are carnally minded. Didn't you notice that I didn't try to join issues with you hypocrites trying to decipher if tithing came before, within or after the law? I'm past that.I simply tried to show you how a christian should reason especially during an issue involving arguments on biblical principles- to see the God and good in things. As far as I'm concerned every seed given (tithes and offerings)to the church will be beneficial to it so I'd do just that. You say you have no problems giving yet you've exhausted twenty something odd pages trying to convince people that they do not need to give to the church or pastors or that tithing as an act has been done away with. Did any of us tell you that people should give under compulsion? No. We said if you give the tithes, you are blessed and if you don't you miss the blessings associated with the tithes, period. Is that too hard to understand? Don't answer. |
Here's the issue- they claim they don't have a problem giving their all to the poor. They sound so engaged in helping the widows and sanitizing the church of God. But judge their posts by the spirit of God and they fall short. The tithe is just ten percent, if I can't part with that how would I part with the 'all' that I have? If my message is helping to sanitize the house of God how come the atheists and pagans cheer me the most? Could it be that my message isn't beneficial to the growth of the church? Look at the establishments that were otherwise churches and prayer houses in europe and the Americas. Why are the members steadily reducing and the structures now occupied by clubs and the likes? Could it be that the move of Gods spirit had stopped in such places? Could part of this be attributed to the shortage of funds and 'seeds' they were receiving? Its just the tenth. Some churches organise these monies and channel them towards the 'poor and widows' but you see, people first gave them as 'tithes' because in the house of God there's an order of doing things. The bible says if we honor our parents we'd live long. But God has already given us all the grace so we don't need that abi? No. Study the words of Jesus- he said those were excuses raised to obviate the truth. One principle cannot supplant another. Retrace your steps and give the tithe. Its your insurance policy. Selah! |
Joagbaje: Which one of them. Tithes ,offering,or alms giving ?wisdom sir!!! |
I concur with Debosky, Jarus, Olaone , Coogar etc. I do not see light in X-fire. He to me, is almost sounding guilty and naïve. What's the fuss about MNC's helping family members get in? Do you expect me for example, to be in a reputable position, aware of the paucity of Jobs in the country and having a brother with say a 2'1 trying to get a job and I would turn a blind eye? Certainly not! That is the nepotism at the fore. Please don't tell us that it doesn't exist because 'you know people who got it without any help'. For every one story you have to back your case I can give you atleast 3 to counter it. Its not being defeatist or pessissmistic-its the reality on ground. The cold, hard one. Sometime last year a somewhat similar topic was being discussed concerning the NNPC recruitment. Do you believe there were some Nigerians that swore tooth and nail that 'no form of nepotism' goes on during such recruitments. When I butted in to give an account of my cousin that didn't even apply or write the preliminary test they started calling me a liar, fraud etc. This is NNPC we are talking about oh? That's why I don't get surprised when people defend MNC's saying 'nepostism' doesn't thrive there. Its at best comical. Shey SHELL has a policy that prohibits married couples from working for them? I know a family (man and wife with kids) that had to change their surnames so that they can still work there. How they were able to do it only God knows. But I got the information from another lady whose husband works with Total and wanted to help get a job there. When she refused he sited this other couple to make his case. I am not here to rat them out. This is Nigeria! |
