coogar: let's be honest - cavani or falcao won't pin a permanent shirt at city.you actually think these players are interested in where they will win a permanent shirt? they will simply tell you they are are up for a challenge (as long as there is more money on offer). |
Can we please perish this Dzeko dream? City will rather pay him to play in Dubai than sell him to us. It will not happen. coogar: united's loss last night was 50-50 for me. i had a wry smile cos this would getagreed. |
I have only read one and i am not keen on reading another. A LEGACY OF LIBERATION Thabo Mbeki and the Future of the South African Dream by Mark Gevisser wonderful book of a true African hero. |
Dis Guy: Any particular reason why NCC is doing its own registration? It just seems like a scam. |
StarBoard: Hmm not sure how to respond to the above.Chelsea might have something to say about that. |
ritchboy: "He only knows how to cheat"I acknowledge your attempt at trolling. |
Also, the networks are compelling subscribers to register with them, even if they had already registered with the NCC. NCC had initially announced that registering with them was enough as it covers all the licensed networks in the country. The confusion is that both parties carrying out the registration do not have synchronised software solution that will detect multiple registration, and people have continued registering since the exercise appears endless. Recently, some fraudsters took advantage of the endless SIM registration to buy bulk SIM cards, register them in fictitious names and were selling them on the streets as pre-registered SIM cards. Industry executives have blamed NCC for the delay in concluding the SIM card registration, attributing some of the cases of kidnapping and threat to lives to the delay. Commenting on the development, the NCC Head of Media and Public Relations, Mr. Reuben Muoka, said there was no delay in SIM registration. He said the perceived delay was strategic to NCC for it to ensure that all data from all parties involved in SIM registration were uploaded to the commissions’ backend server. According to Muoka, the commission used the first six months (March 28 to September 28, 2011) for data collection and from October 2011 till date, the commission commenced uploading of data to its server. “In the process of uploading data, the commission uploaded 15 million registrations above the actual 95 million subscribers in the country, a situation that suggests multiple registration,” Muoka said. He explained that the commission had been working tirelessly to conclude the exercise and that “it is currently doing verification exercise to get the exact number of registered subscribers and in the process, sieve the multiple registrations”. Asked when the exercise would come to an end, Muoka said he was not in a position to speak on the actual date, but that the exercise would “soon come to a successful end”. NCC had, in March last year, embarked on SIM card registration, following the delay by telecoms operators to conclude the exercise in good time, and gave itself a time frame of six months to complete the exercise. The commission went ahead to recruit seven consultants and tasked them with the responsibility of carrying out and completing the SIM card registration in the six geopolitical zones within the timeframe. While the NCC consultants were involved in SIM card registration, the commission allowed all telecoms operators to continue in their capacities with the SIM card registration. The September 30, 2011 date, which NCC gave as the deadline for the completion of the exercise, was no longer feasible to it, as the commission’s consultants could not conclude the exercise at the stipulated date, a situation that compelled NCC to extend the exercise indefinitely. A few days to the deadline, the Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators (ALTON), led by its Chairman, Mr. Gbenga Adebayo, called for a nine-month extension of the exercise, while the National Association of Telecoms Subscribers (NATCOMS), led by its President, Mr. Deolu Ogunbanjo, asked for 12 more months. They said half of the total number of subscribers was yet to be registered. Sensing the danger of closing SIM registration with half of the population of subscribers, NCC said it had extended the exercise, but did not give the timeframe for the extension. |
14 May 2012 By Emma Okonji The N6.2 billion SIM card registration project embarked upon by the Nigerian Communica-tions Commission (NCC) is failing, THISDAY can report today. Industry sources told THISDAY at the yesterday that although the NCC insists that any subscriber who has registered with it need not register with individual networks, there is a serious problem of synchronisation and integration of the data of registered subscribers. Because of this problem, the networks, which do not have access to NCC’s data base, are unable to pass their data to the regulator “owing to incompatible formats”. This raises serious questions as to the homework done by NCC and the networks before the exercise commenced more than a year ago. It was also gathered that some of the networks have lost the captured data of subscribers, leading to fresh registration. These hitches have led to an unending registration exercise, with deadline being shifted twice. Currently, there is no known deadline again. This is impacting negatively on the stated objective of the exercise – which is to check criminal activities perpetrated through phones. The House of Representatives is currently probing the N6.2 billion project which was awarded controversially under the leadership of Mr. Ernest Ndukwe as Executive Vice-Chairman of the NCC. The indefinite extension of the registration by the NCC appears to be creating confusion between the consultants hired by NCC and the telecoms operators. Both parties are unable to check multiple registrations because of the data synchronisation hitches. THISDAY investigation revealed that some subscribers that had earlier registered with telecoms operators, embarked on a second and third registration exercise with the same operator in different locations, without the system identifying them. It was further revealed that the NCC consultants were compelling subscribers to register with them, irrespective of their earlier registration with the telecoms operators. |
StarBoard: If we had done things a bit differently. . .What are you not sure of? City are a better team than united. even fergie acknowledged it with that schizophrenic line up he chose at Etihad. |
Ruud Van Nistelrooy to announce his retirement today. One of the best finishers in the premier league and probably the best within the 18 yard box.
My favourite person in football. Comes across as a nice chap with a good head. |

ikooko: 6m is a lot of money even to dangote because every kobo counts to a businessman. to be sincere to yourself, which bank in this country will borrow a jobless man 6m. pls stop creating fake impression.I wish you followed the trend of discussion to understand my argument. Folks were asking the man not to work again because he had 6m saved. As if 6m was some giant lottery win that made you immune from getting broke again. I am simply inferring that even with 6m in the bank if you want to work for a company, nothing stops you and besides, one small business mistake, 6m can very easily be blown. The amount is not as huge as some folks are making it out to be. I don't know what false impression you are referring to. |
AjanleKoko: It's been a long time since we had this argument.Chairman, i beg try respond to my mails. Thanks. |
ikooko: I agree but not someone who is out of job with idle 6m6m seems like a lot of money to you.Believe me, it is not. |
BlueDiva: The man is trying to plan.I just hope she does not push the man into making hasty decisions in the bid to be busy and end up losing most of his savings. All this self-employed talk grind my tits atimes. |
Kc3000: Bro, to me, he came off looking like a very insecure person. He could have simply asked her why she thought otherwise or like u said, ignored it. . .instead of feeling insulted. Watch this kind of shows, and there's usually a little back and forth between the host and judges. . .just to spice things up. Then he starts whining about it more, after the show, when he could have just played it down.Mode9's fragile ego is a cause for concern. |
GoldCircle: Very deep and matured! similar to his second album "Grass 2 Grace"! With time I know it's gonna hit, but will be more appreciated by the international audience. No where near as good as Grass to Grace. The lyrics on this album are mediocre compared to Grass to Grace. |

Nothing will come out of this. This movie has a familiar ending. |
If she stole and used it for gastric bypass, i would have been her supporter. |
We urgently need to regulate stupidity in governmental circles. Too many idiots running amok in govt. |
Jarus: The insanity story was a rumour. He never lost his sense. He only became very religious in his last few years and became detached detached from worldliness, voluntarily gave out properties in charity, joined the ordinary men on the street mosques for prayers etc. Never lost his sense, those were what people, who expected him to be living high society life as an ex-international, saw and interpreted as insanity. He only became overly religious and detached from worldly fancies.http://thenetng.com/2012/05/05/mother-confirms-yekini-battled-mental-illness-before-death/ |
AjanleKoko: ^^That was why i was hoping you guys would get an outsider to replace Pep. |
Give it a rest boys, we all have degrees in hindsight. |
honeric01: Yes bro, we need a PERMANENT 9 for PLAN B, villa and alexi can always play from the wings, but Llorente can't, so when we are having issues with plan A, we can throw in Llorente for plan B.so he will just sit on the bench waiting for plan B time? |
AjanleKoko: A big striker just scored against us now, for Malaga. Rondon. I'd buy him over Llorente.chairman leave that matter o! Llorente might have a bad day now and again (who doesn't?) but the lad is very good. |
On March 24 this year, Okorocha was in Kosovo where he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with their government to construct housing estates, establish an agro-processing plant and build an independent power plant, all in Imo state. When completed, according to the governor, this planned power plant would supply the state with 500 megawatts of electricity! But as I watched the video clip on AIT, something struck me as odd. His host, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Behgdey Pacconi, had spoken in Albanian, the main official language of his country thus needing an interpreter. When it was the turn of Okorocha to respond, he apparently felt he also needed an interpreter so he decided to speak in Igbo language. A former senator on his delegation now had to interpret into English for the Kosovo interpreter to now translate into Albanian. The whole episode reminded me of ‘Icheoku’, arguably one of the best television drama series in the eighties. But Okorocha is not without redemption as he is also a passionate man. I guess that is why he wants to achieve results quickly. But he must also realize that this is a democracy where planning, transparency and processes are also important for him to leave any lasting legacy. He cannot continue to run his administration by whims as is the case right now. There is no doubt that Governor Okorocha came to office with a popular mandate and I believe he is in haste to make a difference in his state. But to do so, he must understand that running a government requires having in place proper structures which will enable him to promote transparency and accountability. He must also align the direction and goals of his administration within the available. I sincerely want Governor Okorocha to succeed but for him to do that, he needs to sit down to reflect on the kind of legacy he wants to bequeath to his state when his tenure is done. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/but-where-is-happyboy-/115022/ |
On Monday, Governor Rochas Okorocha declared a four-day holiday for workers in Imo State. According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Obinna Duruji, the workers are to use this week to go to their communities and partake in the take-off of the Community Council Government (CCG), which the governor recently instituted in the state. And for this extra-constitutional fourth-tier of government, Okorocha has already approved the disbursement of N5 million to each of the communities in the 27 local councils from a subvention of N3 billion. Of course, the N3 billion is not captured in the Imo State Appropriation Bill for 2012 which has not even been passed. But then that is a small matter in a state where the governor has practically become the sole administrator, expending public money and coming up with all manner of bizarre ideas without any legislative oversight. Almost every day now, Governor Okorocha awards multi-billion Naira contracts for roads, for schools, for hospitals, for hotels, for farms etc. and you wonder where the money to fund all these projects is coming from. Governor Okorocha is evidently a populist and there is nothing wrong with populism except that it has to be rooted in realistic expectations. Okorocha for instance tells his Imo people that his state which still depends largely on its meagre allocation from the Federation Account is very buoyant. And with minimal internally generated revenue, he has declared free education at all levels in Imo State and has even decided to be paying salaries to primary school pupils! In fulfillment of that pledge, he actually went to some schools where the pupils lined up for him to pay them N100 each. In Imo State today, it is one day, one promise. Okorocha is going to build a megacity in Okigwe; he will build two palm oil plantations; he will construct a 25-storey hotel; he will build three universities for the state; he will construct an ecumenical centre; and he has already taken over all federal roads in the state for which he has awarded contracts without any documentation! I was in the United States during the April 2011 elections but I followed all the drama in Imo and actually wanted Okorocha to win. So when he did, I was very happy. Unfortunately, right from his first day in office, Okorocha started giving people cause for concerns as to whether he understands his brief as governor. I recall that as early in the day as August last year, his brand of governance was a subject of discussion at our editorial board. We marveled at some of his antics and actually did an editorial to remind him of his responsibilities. “His most notable achievement to date has been to make headline news for all sorts of gaffes. From daubing himself in blood and disguising himself ala ‘Aluwe’ while pretending to be a victim of road accident just to make a point about service delivery at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, to whimsical decisions on traditional and academic institutions, Okorocha is literally making a mockery of his office and does not seem to care what people think or say,” we wrote. We were also worried about the unwieldy nature of his political appointments. In addition to 17 commissioners and 14 Senior Special Assistants, Okorocha had appointed a further 80 men and women as Special Assistants and members of various Mayoral Affairs Committees. For example, he has a Senior Special Assistant on Lagos Liaison office and a Special Assistant on Lagos Affairs; Senior Special Assistant, NDDC and Special Assistant on Niger Delta; and of course he appointed for the state a Chief Comedian who is also a Special Assistant! And while swearing them in, the governor said they would have to source for funds with which to run their offices thus effectively turning them to no more than executive touts. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/but-where-is-happyboy-/115022/ |
I thought this man was intelligent. I expect the committee to turn in their report within 24hrs. this should be a very simple task as it is very obvious. |
