i am really not interested in the EFCC case.as not only is it neither black or white, nothing will come out of it. what i am more concerned about is how a man with the alleged criminal convictions he had in America rose to the top of the Legislature in Lagos state. |
@usuf.saheed, in addition to what Ajanlekoko said,i would advice you look at all these contracting firms that work for operators and vendors. these companies build sites,do qaulity assurance tests (benchmark drive tests), integrate built sites and maintain power infrastructure. the bulk of hard work in the industry are being done by these small contracting firms and you should not discount the opportunities for knowledge and learning that they bring.Operators and vendors are continually seeking experienced hands to manage projects and act as interfaces with these firms, hence experience gained from these small firms count a great deal. these firms pay peanuts and work you hard but they will open doors for a fresher like you. there is more supply than demand in the industry, hence even with connections, you still need God's favour. Do your part.ask questions at every new telecom site you see being built in your area.find out the name of the company, where their office is and who the contact person is.Knock on such doors and you never can tell. All the best. |

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/the-nigerian-un-chattering-class/97799/ I Want to Become Lagos Speaker Having consulted widely with my constituents and by popular demand, I am today declaring my intention to contest for a seat into the Lagos State House of Assembly and then will aspire to become the speaker of the state assembly. My aspiration is premised on the news reaching my desk last Saturday that the assembly’s current speaker, Hon. Ikuforiji Adeyemi, travels to the United States of America every other month. If that is what it will take for me to go on overseas junkets six or more times a year, then I want Ikuforiji’s job. By his own admission, the embattled speaker, who is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, says he has been sojourning to the country at least once every two months for the past few years. He made the revelation while dismissing allegations that he was once convicted in the US and had absconded from the country in 2003 and 2005 respectively. If he travels this frequently to the US, only heaven know how often he takes off to the United Kingdom, which is just six hours away and is a second home to several Nigerians. Well, I believe that Ikuforiji has enjoyed those overseas trips a bit too much, if not, he would have been a lot more circumspect about what he blurts out. But seeing that these sort of things don’t seem to matter in the Nigerian context, I have decided that it is my turn to eat. So Ikuforiji, move over. I too want to enjoy the largesse and perks of the speaker’s office. |

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/salamis-successor-reshuffles-presidential-election-tribunal/97752/ From Tobi Soniyi in Abuja The acting President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Dalhatu Adamu, has redeployed a member of the Presidential Election Tribunal, Justice Mohammed Garba, possibly setting the stage for the reconstitution of the panel. A source confirmed the redeployment yesterday, saying Garba has been replaced with Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa from the Yola Division of the Court of Appeal. Garba, who is believed to be a close ally of the suspended President of the court, Justice Ayo Salami, it was learnt, was transferred to the Calabar Division of the court. Another justice who is also an associate of Salami, Justice Paul Galinje, has been transferred from the Abuja Division of the court to the Port Harcourt Division. Until his transfer last week, Garba was the presiding justice of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal. Last Monday, he presided over the hearing of the petition filed by the Congress for Progressive Change challenging the declaration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as the winner of the April presidential election. It could not be confirmed if the tribunal which comprises Justice M.A. Owoade, I.I. Agbube and Ogbande Ogbuinya will be completely disbanded to pave the way for its reconstitution. Salami’s suspension had reduced the panel membership from five to four. Prior to his suspension, Salami chaired the presidential election petition tribunal. The tribunal, which began sitting in May, has six months under the law to conclude hearing of the petition on the presidential election. If the panel is disbanded, a new set of justices would have to begin afresh the hearing into the CPC’s petition, thus making the determination of the presidential election petition within six months a challenge to conclude. The National Judicial Council suspended Salami on August 25 and recommended him for retirement from the bench following his refusal to apologise to the council and the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, after a panel of the council found him to have wrongly accused the former CJN of arresting the judgment of the Court of Appeal on the Sokoto State governorship election dispute. The redeployment of the two justices came in the wake of movement of some registrars of the court. Prior to the redeployment of Garba and Galinje, Adamu was said to be under pressure to reconstitute the presidential election petition tribunal and shake up the Court of Appeal. It was learnt that Adamu was being pressured to reconstitute the presidential election petition tribunal, a move which some lawyers and politicians said would send the dangerous signal to the public. While acknowledging that Adamu has the constitutional powers to redeploy any justice of the Court of Appeal, a legal expert explained that his action could be misinterpreted given the circumstances under which he came into office. But one of the counsel in the petition before the tribunal said: “If the panel is reconstituted, none of the parties will lose anything because we have not reached the hearing stage. “We are still at the preliminary stage which can be handled by any judge. Once a petition is at the hearing stage, you cannot change the judges. “But I don’t think outright disbandment will be okay because once such a step is taken, petitioners will start to read meanings into it. To me, there is nothing in the petition of the CPC; the panel should be allowed to remain or else, we will end up with a well-deserved judgment being beclouded by political sentiments.” The CPC had alleged after Salami’s suspension that his removal was aimed at frustrating its petition. The party, in a statement in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Engr. Rotimi Fashakin, had queried what it described as “the hush-hush manner” in which President Goodluck Jonathan approved the NJC’s recommendation for the suspension of the former President of the Court of Appeal. Last week, the National Chairman of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, described Salami’s suspension as an attempt by Jonathan to defeat justice in the presidential election petition tribunal. He alleged that Salami’s suspension had given credibility to speculations that Jonathan would interfere with the decision of the presidential election petition tribunal, claiming that Salami was suspended to pave the way for manipulation at the tribunal. “What has happened has further given credibility to our speculations, the judiciary is once more being used as tool by the executive arm of government,” he said.
It is a bit sad here that many don't understand the principle of federalism.
you are right but some of us understand federalism but are worried that these lot who call themselves governors are not in it for the love of federalism. they just want more to loot. the problem is that leaving the loot in the center fuels the lust of the thieves in Abuja. whichever way,a thief prospers. the crux of the matter is finding a way to ensure that our collective resource is used for the benefit of the masses not a few, either in Abuja or the state capitals. |
saw this somewhere.Thought i should post it here. couple of typos as you would expect from a newspaper blog but i guess there is some sense in there. What does work and why stop eating bread ,potatoes, pasta and rice they quickly break down to sugar spiking your hunger and store the product on waist in men eat small amounts six times a day to prevent your brain from ever feeling it is being starved and it naturally stops storing fat add to your diet peanut butter, dark chocolate, almonds (not roasted or salted) These foods eat stored fat and taste nice. substitute bbread ,potatoes, pasta and rice with lettuce eat steak is satiates your , scrambled egg at breakfast (satiates diet hunger) for breakfast (professional footballers do this) eliminate all take away and conveneience foods reduce alcohol intake and incraese water intake now increase your exercise levels walking up the stairs instead of a lift, walk round park instead of xfactor, walk to Tesco not car, skipping reduce unneccesary car use as much as possible The guy on the magazine of mens health does not have a six pack from working out it is from following the above methods. Empiracally for me it it worked ,I am the same weight as when I was 25 (girls thought I was too thin back then) but look better as the steark and exercise give you a pecs and six pack look. Alternative method I found by chance this summer I was on a ceiling of 81 kg but after eating japanese food vegetables and fish soup but not the rice got down to 79 kg at 45 years old. That took one week. A nice side effect that girls as young as 18 hit on me and I am bald FYI The book I used for the above results I actually got after reading an article on the web site. It is called Waste disposal. It is a life style choice based on education , I don't know any magic bullets. You may think the food is not appetising but it doesn't last long now if i go into a take away the smell alone makes me want to be sick |
of course there is still honour among thieves. Dogs may be cannibals but they don't eat fellow dogs. |

i see you are ruling out govt work for your wife?that is a huge mistake! if your wife has plans of setting up solo, then govt work is the best option. it will help her make very valuable contacts and it will help her understand how the medical system here works (as bad as it is). another fact is that very, very few hospitals in the private sector pay as well as the public sector in the health system. typical private hospitals pay as little as 100k and maybe 150k to a lucky few.as a senior reg in the govt hospitals she should get up to 350k.in addition to that she can still do locum in private clinics and make over 100k a month.these locums are very important not just for the money but helps you understand and evaluate the competition for future solo runs. the fact is that private hospitals are for those who can't get into govt hospitals and you often have doctors working in two to three private hospitals at a time. also there is no career path in private hospitals. i assume your wife is just 30,i doubt she is a consultant (i might be wrong),so as a reg or senior reg with plans of going solo,a govt hospital will be a better bet. within a few years (depending on her present level),she will be a consultant and going solo will make more sense. the problem of govt hospitals is that vacancies are hugely limited, especially in down south.so you need to start making moves now. another issue is that for telco, your options are largely limited to Lagos,so you might find a situation where she gets a place in one teaching hospital outside lagos and you get a job in lagos or even nothing. |
Gbawe:Gbawe, i am not convinced that Aregbesola has done anything special to prevent flooding in Osun.the party chieftain was just playing to the gallery and it seems to be the norm of Aregbesola's govt. the man should ignore the antics of the PDP fellas and get down to real work.only real work will come to his defence when the people pass judgement.the gallery must be ignored,no matter the temptation. |
Forget EFCC. the guy probably upset one of his godfathers. he will apologise to the right quarters and all will be forgiven. |
Its unfortunate that people have to begin making such far-fetched excuses for on a related note, this ACN guys are clowns, how come he did not export his expertise on flooding to his comrades in Oyo and Lagos? Is there no love in sahring between ACN governors? |
Standard Chartered and this whole retail banking thing is not working at all. they should stick to the rich. my 20k is still hanging via the ATM and the responses are so lacking in empathy. very poor service. |
^^^ there is an element of luck/injuries and form on the day that plays a part in ECL. even Mancini's inadequacies can be masked if the lines fall pleasantly for them. I doubt ego will be much of a problem.many of the lads there are there just for the money.i know footballers are mercenaries, those at city are a cut above the others. |
