BigB1 This thread coming from you is so shameful, I think you should plead to Seun to withdraw it. Asking a security operative to declare his asset. Man dont allow your hatred for Ribadu corrupt your sense of reasoning Ribadu will declare his asset but you have to first ask the following people to declare their assets: National Security Adviser Chief of Defence Staff Chief of Army Staff Inspector General of Police Chief of Naval Staff Chief of Air Staff All police DIGs and Army Generals |
To be honest right now, I will celebrate if the TRIBUNAL annulls Yaradua's election. Having a re-election is worth it at whatever cost. That is the only way out of this. @Debbosky Yes Saharareporters may have been or are still involved in sensationalism, but go and do a search on all Saharareporters news on Anti-Corruption War in the last 12months. They all turned out to be true. They were the first to blow the cover about this training!!!!!!! even the previous merger, so what ever is their source is very accurate. Debosky how difficult is it for the Presidency to boldly state that we are not interested in war against corruption. Is it compulsory ![]() ? |
Yar'adua approves Nuhu Ribadu's replacement as EFCC ChairAt this point I think President Yaradua should scrap all anti-corruption agencies. War against corruption is not compulsory. |
BigB1 Lets not go into a debate you can not win!!!!! You can not talk about selectivity without establishing a trend or criteria for selection. There are 9 oranges made of 3 blue, 3 red, 3 green. An individual picks 2 blue, 1 red, 1 green. You can't accuse them of selectivity because to the best of his ability all colours were represented. Under Ribadu, EFCC charged: Christains as well as Muslims to court Northerners as well as Southerners More PDP men than people in opposition parties So what was the basis for EFCC being selective. All this talks about friend or no friend is senseless. It is not part of Ribadu's job description to keep an inventory of who OBJ consider's friendly or not. We have a situation where when you ask people to acccount for their stewardship they tell you the picked up a quarell with OBJ last night hence why EFCC is probing them today. It does not even occur to them that the frontline headache and opposition to OBJ govt are yet to be guest to EFCC. This include Buhari (Yes he was technically the number 1 Opposition leader), Ken Nnamani stood against everything OBJ, Sunday Awoniyi same. But they had no business with EFCC because they were clean. Was Fayose, Tafa Balogun, Wagbara not OBJ boys before their ordeals ![]() .Ribadu was not going to be boss of EFCC forever, but he had a tenure to serve which the Presidency had a choice to respect or sack him. Since the Presidency thought there was need to see Ribadu go before the end of his time, they should have been bold enough to sack him. All this school boy deceit is worthless and shameful especially when coming from our so called servant leader. |
Bhola:Exactly!!!! The President should have been man enough to fire Ribadu. |
Congrats!!!!!!!!! Mike Okiro for Finishing up Mike Aondoakaa's dirty Job. Now maybe the meeting between Ibori and 3 DIGs sometime last year in America makes more sense. |
debosky @ babasinSorry Pakistanis and Indians are as fraudulent as Nigerians trust me. Pakistanis might even be more fraudulent. However I do not believe Nigerians, Indians and Pakistanis are inherently more fraudulent compared to Westerners. It is simply a case of the Westerners having more choice to desist from fraud because the State looks after their interests, including pepatrating Fraud on their behalf. |
Its obviously not a statement of fact Just saying for whatever might be the cause of her death, she should have treaded more softly. |
Benazir Bhutto, may her soul rest in peace, played her politics like the woman she is. Women are too passionate about what they believe in. America is not responsible for her death, though her friendship with the West may have cost her her life. In a fundamentalist country like Pakistan, having "war against terrorism" as the basis of your campaign is too risky. Especially when you are not yet in power and can not boast of State Security at your disposal. Even President Musharaf himself is accused of double standards on war on terror, and delibrately helping Bin Laden to evade arrest. That is a security measure, because you can not be so sure who subscribes to what? Not even the Army Generals in your executive council could be trusted cos they might have a secret side of them that you are not aware of. Like a Journalist put it when asked to define a Taliban: A Taliban could range from a kid playing with a toy gun on the field to a long beared man at the town centre. You never know who is who except you see them with a gun. Sorry to Benazir Bhutto, because you dont take a stance on such sensitive issues until you are in power. It is even most unfortunate because she has died for nothing as her previous allies will simply look for new allies and life will go on. |
Femi Falana has a point If President Yaradua wants to see Ribadu go, he should be man enough to sack him. |
Aleksys:but Ribadu can proceed on this course in 12months time, must it be now? |
BigB1 Merry Xmas ![]() You are working too hard on Xmas day |
Some Nigerian Journalist are very funny. Saw that talk about facilitating Iyabo's shady deals. The quest of our Journalists to blackmail Ribadu at all cost have blocked their sense of choice of words. How does an EFCC chairman facilitate a contract scam in Ogun State Government ??When they make such comments they don't give details, all you here is reliable source |
Aleksys:I totally agree with you, a part of me feels the guy should proceed on training without hesitation. The Job is done. Nigerians are more aware now than ever. If the plot turns out to be a clandestine motive of the AGF the blow back will be disastrous for all involved. We are watching. |
But out of curiousity can Mike Okiro explain to Nigerians why it is impossible for the EFCC Boss to Multi-task? Can he also explain to Nigerians the ingredients of this training course that makes it impossible for the EFCC chairman to attend training in Plateau while doing his job at his office situated in Abuja Or better still is it illegal to relocate the sit of EFCC chaimanship to Plateau while the training last Finally, can the IG Mike Okiro confirm that this is not one of many plans ochestrated by some people in the Presidency to undermine the EFCC including the latest attempt to use the NASS. |
LOL Did not know Nigerians are this patriotic ![]() ??Discussing politics on 25 December. ![]() |
For the records, Etteh did not step down as an MP. She only stepped down as speaker Besides that 3 Senators of Federal Republic of Nigeria who were ex-governors have cases of corruption going on in courts, they are yet to step down. On what premise are we then asking Iyabo Obj to step down when her case is still being investigated. If a case of corruption is established against her she should be prosecuted, but asking for her to resign as MP is simply victimization. |
Richyblack Heard there is an American sponsored ?http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7153563.stm |
@Presido @ McrenNope, Just saying there is no Unified vission. However if you think there is please kindly tell me, based on political ideologies of notable PDP leaders, where you will categorize the PDP. Is it a left-wing or Right-wing party. For me right now the Politics of PDP like most political parties in Nigeria is not issue-based, and as pacesetters in the polity they have to take the lead in introducing issue based politics in the system. I think we are al part of nigerian problem. The debate should be about Nigeria and not about who we love or not. My comments were not in defense of IBB's personality or his regime, it was only in defense of his opinion on the PDP which I share in its totality. In threads where I criticized IBB, I have always maintained that I thought he was not a great leader because a great leader will not initiate a transition programme that he knows was heading to a cul-de-sac. But it is also worthy of note that that same transition programme produced an election touted as the best in the history of our Nation. Are you suggesting that while we study our history of elections in our bid to ascertain where we got it right and wrong we should not listen to the man who oversaw the greatest election in History, albeit whether we want to accept his recommendations or not? This whole debate should be about what is best for the future of this country, not who we hate or love. For me if IBB is willing to allign himself with what is best for our country we should work with him. Forget all the fantasies of Prince Kassim Afegbua, I believe IBB is brilliant enough to know that he cant be President anymore. And lets face it, if you are of the view that we will wake up from sleep someday and IBB, OBJ, Gowon, Abdusalnmi will find themselves in Jail. Sorry it wont happen anytime soon, at least not while this people still meet every forthnight as members of Federal Executive Council deciding the future of our country. This is why as we pressure them to move this country forward, when they begin to yield it is necessary to ally with them to get this country forward. Otherwise we will be creating a we against them scenario which will put this people on the defensive and nothing will work anytime soon. Presido my brother, my opinion on this issue is motivated by practical and realistic politics hinged on what is best for Nigeria. For example David Mark, we all knew what he did as an Army Officer, but today as Senate President he is at the Vanguard of institutionalizing due process in Government business. We can choose to dwell in the past and demonise David Mark, he will get impeached and probably Gorge Akume becomes Senate President. Who knows where his loyalty lies, maybe he will collude wiith Micheal Aondoakaa and they will secretely pass legislation that will make the whole working of EFCC illegal. So sometimes in politics we need to take decisions unpleasant to us in other to achieve greater future gains. IBB should apologize to nigerians before we will listern to him, if he like nigeria and its citizens why did he not come to oputa panel.I also share that sentiment but it looks as if the Soldier in him will not let him do that, they have their own Omerta. |
Please I am interested in how the solar energy thing works too. |
Exactly, we can either choose to move on as a Nation or dwell in the past No amount of demonization will stop IBB from being IBB, but we might be loosing an opportunity for National rebirth by engaging in the necessary debates that will change our Nation because we have rather chosen to spend more time demonizing IBB. We had every right to reject him as President and we did, but he still remains a Nigerian and like every one else has a right to comment on the State of the Nation. And anybody thinking it is not right to learn from the mistakes IBB made is being Naive, it is even more naive to brush off credible suggestions cos its coming from IBB. |
Big B1:because a public officer attempting to set up a company with spurious names is more or less against the Code of conduct of her office than anything else, especially when the deal did not pull through. Possibly EFCC may not have Jurisdiction to prosecute her under the Economic and Financial Crimes Act. |
I will not be suprised if after investigation EFCC decides to pass her case to Code of Conduct Bureau for further actions. |
Big B1:I was personally shocked myself that such a damning comment will come from IBB. Truth should not cease to be the truth cos it comes from IBB, I thought he was absolutely spot on. |
But to be honest, PDP is very critical to the success or failure of our Democracy The party needs to sort itself out, from having a well defined political ideology, to the means with which they select who their leaders are, its necessary that they observe due process. I bet u if you individually interview the different PDP chairmen from the 36 States of Nigeria on their views on Economic reform, you are bound to get 36 different answers. |
Very soon he will come up with satelite pictures of all the places Iyabo Obasanjo went to when she was commissioner ![]() You are talking to the wrong person. At age of 13 i became born again, Go and find out. I use to preach in my secondary , so everybody i went to school with knows me, They call me pastor, at age 16 , i had already preach to more a congregation of over 1000 people, You don hear deeper life before,Wells thats the more reasons I will trust you less, cos Pastors are the only set of people who always made profit regardless of how poor our economy was doing. Reason: They exploit the hopelessness of poor people |
did iyabo tell you she faked her ID, No, it is your Thisday, Where is prove, Picture of 2 people is no prove, My son and danladi bako took picture together, Than should i go and claim , Danladi bako is my son father,Give me a reason I should take you more seriously than THISDAY. |
depends on what you are expecting, all Ribadu can do is charge Iyabo to court if he thinks there is enough evidence. |
nigeriaone:This has absolutely nothing to do with this topic, the most off point contribution I have seen on Nairaland. Was it the so called civil war soldiers who told Iyabo ObJ to fake her identity ![]() ![]() |
Lacks what co-ordination ![]() ![]() ??http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7104215.stm (20th November 2007) http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art2007121413285793 (Friday 14th December) Read those two news and pay attention to the specific quotes from the President, you will realise that the President did not say anything new on the Africom issue. Initially I thought the whole mix up was an honest mistake by the media but the new twist reported by Tribune and Gaurdian only makes me wonder if someone wants someone elses job at the Foreign affairs ministry hence the latest mischief. http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/news/article04/indexn2_html?pdate=201207&ptitle=Presidency,%20ministry%20bicker%20over%20Yar'Adua's%20comment%20on%20AFRICOM Ziddy, if you were the Nigeria ambassador to US or Even a Junior Diplomat at the Nigerian Embassy in the US, you will go about granting media interviews as to how Yaradua was talking off point when he met the US President. (that sounds like people's beer parlour opinnion to me) Or you think if Nigeria by any means had a change of stance on AFRICOM, Reuters, BBC, CNN and all international media outfits that initially reported it will not make headlines with this News. |
I have not really done my research on this issue and will not comment too much as yet, I don't think there is any law that allows an individual to have more than one identity, its either Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello is qualified or not to set up the company at the time she did. Even it is Fraudulent using someone else (who will use their real identity) as front to set up a company let alone a public servant giving spurious names in other to set up a company. The previous is obviously more acceptable than the latter, if people have been probed in this country for indulging in the previous then Obasanjo-Bello must be probed for what she got herself involved in. However we must assume she is innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent Jurisdiction, "rule of law" as well as "Anti corruption" is for everybody. None of these is the preserve of a particular section of the society. |
Time will tell what is behind all this attempt by the media to undermine the institution of the Presidency at all cost over the President's last visit to US. |
