Teophilus96:
Hello great people, I’ve been following this thread all through these past months, and I must admit that I have learnt a lot. Please I have a serious and interesting question on an observation :
I have 2 charge controllers, MPPT and PWM

With MPPT @ 12:30pm with few loads on it
Panel output:182.6Watts
The battery voltage indicator reads 13.4Volts but the MPPT controller is reading 14.9Volts suggesting that it understands that the battery is full. But this is not the case. So it reduces the power coming in from my panel and keeps that voltage without any addition for about an hour which is not normal.

With PWM and with the same loads on it
Panel output: 203.52Watts
The battery voltage indicator reads exactly the same as that of the PWM controller and in just about 15-20mins it takes my battery voltage from 13.4V to 14.6V meaning it’s charged to full capacity with the PWM.

Please what could be ascertained from this test pls?
Thanks in anticipation
You will need to get a meter to verify the readings from both charge controller.

Also what type of battery and what is the specifications of solar panels and the connection configuration of the solar panels?

Abeg this valto metal battery cases dey safe so? huh
It's metal, therefore safe.

Add other safety features like fuses and breakers for added protection during installation.

To God be the glory, I finally switch to the lifepo4 battery user after 2 years of planning. I now enjoy uninterrupted power supply, run appliances simultaneously (no heavy appliances). Am very sure Nepa self go dey vex on me by now... Still having 120+ units on my prepaid since month of October.
Congratulations. Welcome to the RE family. Very soon you'd forget you ever had a generator.

Some of us don't even have one anymore after porting to RE grin

What are the consequences of not reaching its nominal voltage?
Let’s say the voltage supply from PV is 200V.
It says 60-450v

With 200v you are good to go.

Hopefully I don't get banned for using numbers by this idiotic anti spam bot.

Sorry o, but it seems the name “5000 watts” is misleading. Is that the power rating of the Energy saving device or is that the max Power of any device to be connected?

If it’s not the power rating of the Energy saving device, then what is its power rating?

Are you using an inverter, prepaid meter or Generator and you want to save your energy consumption by as much as 25% - 50%? then this 5000w energy saving appliance is for someone like you.

This energy saving appliance will reduce your power consumption on your pumping machine, big ox fan, hot plate, induction cooker, pressing iron and other power hungry appliances. This energy Saving appliance could make your inverter or Generator power some power hungry appliances it couldn't power before now.

Capacity - 5000w
Price - 90k
Call/WhatsApp - 08035537864 if you need it.
Facebook peeps will love this. In a DIY thread I doubt anyone will want to get this unknown device with unknown working principle that appear to break the laws of electricity.

This is akin to the "fue saver" BS they sell to car owners which is plugged into the 12v DC outlet of a car.

I use some power tools (excluding the circular saw) and the are all cordless and so far I'll say that the wired ones are way better as they are more powerful and packs more torque.

For commercial use get a wired one and set up the inverter as intended.

3kva to 5kva inverter will handle it well.

Size the battery and panels based on your need.
That's true, I own a battery powered drill and an electric drill. Both are miles apart in power when you compare the lil torque produced by the battery type against the huge torque you experience on the electric counterpart.

Lithium battery last longer than tubular ( lead acid) batteries. So you are better off buying lithium.

Also even though the lithium is 100ah, lead acid battery capacity only has 50% usable capacity (without adverse effect on the lead acid battery), so hence 200ah can only be safely discharged 100ah without adverse effect on the lead acid battery. Whereas you can do 80-90% on lithium batteries.

So basically a 100ah lithium is approximately 200ah lithium battery.

Other advantage include that lithium battery is lighter, more compact and charges at a faster rate than lead acid batteries.

I am on a tight budget. My budget can only cater for tubular batteries for now
There is someone selling 1.2kwh (100ah 12v) lithium battery here for less than 300k. I think it's a better alternative to 200/220ah Tubular battery.

I had to sell only two and leave the rest as I felt I was being cheated sef.
I think there's some silverish material underneath the glass if you look closer.
Even the aluminum frame is not worth 10k. Who knows what they use it for. Super interesting to see this and thanks for sharing.

How do I clean my panels?

I've tried hosing them with a some dish soap and water, then just water, but there remains a thin layer of dust/grime on them.

Not sure how much that affects my output, though, but I want them as clean as possible. Do I try using hot water?
Use a mop and clean water. You may do it like thrice to get that very clean look.

ask4bk:
Solar Charger watt output are not calculated with panel volts but with charging volts.
On a 12v system, if it's charging with 13.5 it'll be 13.5v x amps to get the watts entering battery. Same for 24 and 48v. So 3300w on a 48v charging at 53.0v will have amps of 3300/53 = 62amps

Solar volts displayed are just what is coming from solar before conversion by MPPT
You are discussing an entirely different thing. Read my reply again. Thanks.

That's extreme sports. Glad it didn't end badly. Fouani should try to improve on their delivery period. They just miss out on someone that wants to buy up to 50 nos of solar panels. The person not sure if they'll deliver within project timeline this year.

Hello guys, my 15kwh felicity lithium battery is charging slowly. The first guy that did the connection, did a wrong connection and got my 10kva inverter burnt. I got another inverter (SMS 10.2KW Hybrid inverter) and the new installer corrected the previous connection. But I noticed that the battery now charges slowly despite having high PV from the panels. I’m getting 3.200Watts from the panels but the charging current is 13Amps. I used to see up to 80Amps from similar PV in the previous connection and the battery will be fully charged before 3pm during peak sunlight. But now, even with this scorching sun and without using the battery at all, I barely get 2 bars full by end of day. There’s obviously something wrong with this current connection and the guy is telling me that the BMS in the battery might be bad. I am finding it difficult to believe that. Please any idea what could be wrong? From the little I have read and understand, charging current (amps) also determines how fast a battery charges and I’m see low amperage since this connection.
Do you have problem running heavy load on the battery? If yes, then BMS failure may likely not be the issue here.

Connection failure may be an issue. Either a panel in series have failed, or PV connection have degraded hence only like half the solar panels you have is at work.

Also do you have grid connected? Does the battery charge with higher amperage than what you have when the sun is out? If you have grid charging much higher than your PV current used to be, then issue may either be breaker failure or PV wire connection issue.

Also before I go, the 13A is it what you see in the Felicity battery display or what you see on the inverter? I'm asking this because if the PV are connected in high voltage, current coming in from the panels will be smaller.

For instance,

P= IV , where I = current and V = voltage

P = 13A X 400V = 5200w

With low voltage you may see something like

P = 34.6A X 150V = 5200w

Same power, just different current and voltage.
