Kano politics is like this: There is nowhere in hell that PDP can dream of winning Kano because true PDP does not exist in the state.

Kwankwaso is only theoretically PDP but in actual effect won the governorship under his own personalized brand of poltics known as KWANKWOSIYA and for the first time he represents an elected governor really developing and working for the state which the people can see and are therefore totally with him; but not even he can sway the presidential votes towards PDP - that's the reality on ground, otherwise Oga johnny would only be wasting his time in Kano.

So let them drink their soon to be worthless oil alone; and let us revert back to our mainstay, agriculture, and also into developing our vast natural resources - besides, we already have oil in Niger, Sokoto and Chad Basin along with large reserves of natural gas along the Borno - Benue axis - so they cannot continue to do us shakara again.

As for the so called northern dominance, lets examine how things should have played out if the rules of democracy and simple majority were to apply.
Accordingly southerners would never have had a whiff of the presidency or its equivalent because the majority of the monolithic north would always come up trumps first.

Southerners know and are jealous of this and had since been manipulating the rules (shifting the goalpost so to speak) to overcome the northern majority.

When they failed through the ballot box they took power forceful through Nigeria's first coup and failed subsequently after the tables were turned.

Secondly, they tried with some degree of success to forment the seeds of discord along ethnic and religious lines between the core north and the middle belt (though I am not saying that the Hausa/Fulani/Kanuris played no role in this) so as to reduce this majority, and continue to use their southern owned newspapers to stoke the flames of unrest between these northern groups, so that today the north is divided more than ever before.

Thirdly, they introduced the concept of rotational presidency thereby distorting the very principle of democracy - which northerners accepted if only to have peace.

Fourthly, they also introduced the concept of geopolitical zoning for the same reason - which again the north accepted only for sake of peace.

In addition, after laying down these ground rules, who was first to break them out greed? Yes, it was the southerners who insisted on taking over when it was clearly not their turn - even so, the northerners reluctantly accepted just to have peace.

Currently, who is also breaking a gentlemen's agreement to run for only one term so that north could resume its missed turn; if not our present retardeen - where even credible sources such as the BBC have reported on the said agreement, yet in the face of it all this, he and his lying cheating southern folks wish to pretend otherwise.

It is very rare in history and highly unlikely for ppl to voluntarily give up power just like that, yet northerners have ceded power to the south for sake of peace.

It is therefore extremely painful to hear some southerners, still wet behind the ears and without thinking, repeatedly spewing out the myth and false propaganda accusing northerners of having a born to rule mentality - wherein it is actually the southerners who have always demonstrated the propensity, via their by hook or by crook attitude, for I must rule mentality.

In view of the foregoing, it should be evidently clear that there would be no formula under which the southerners will be satisfied with the north, due to their (southerners) greed and selfishness.

Listen I have schooled abroad for 10 yrs (In England) so I know exactly the difference and what we are missing.
I have also been to India (5yrs ago for med treatment) for about 1mth (planning same next few weeks) and have room for compassion for law abiding fellow Nigerians whether in the diaspora or in the country; neither do I disagree with his conclusion about the failure of our successive past governments.
However, the ultimate blame must fundamentally rest on our necks for not holding our governments responsible and accountable because their failure is our own failure to play our civic role.
Rather we accept and ineptitude, encourage nepotism and allow ourselves to be divided between ethnic and religious lines to be conquered and suppressed by the ruling elite who benefit from our perpetual disunity.
We would rather blame each other and hate ourselves along these lines than those responsible for our suffering; while they continue to live in marble mansions among us flouting our stolen wealth into our faces with impunity - and all we can do is to sing their praises.
Our governments and therefore our conditions will never change so long as we continue to pay premium to religion and tribe as the main yardsticks for selecting our leaders.
Currently, we are getting what we deserve.
As for those Nigerians in India, if you would be objective will you find that most are not there for legitimate business but criminality, mainly drugs and 419; even the one murdered was allegedly a drug warlord entangled in drug related altercation leading to his death.

Why are Nigerians engaged in that way, are they the only ones suffering from bad governance and misrule?
Why are other foreigners from likewise countries not behaving as badly as Nigerians when abroad?
Something got to be wrong with us - we really need to self re-examine and stop blaming others for our own shortcomings.

That was the error in the title of the thread which I drew attention to and which later even the OP saw reason to change the wording of the topic from lynching to beating.

I merely pointed out this difference but never inferred in anyway subsequently that the beating was justified - though in my heart of hearts
I could appreciate why the Indians reacted in that way.

For you or anyone to appreciate this, you need to watch several more videos (many are available on youtube) along with other news items covering the story in order to understand the causative background leading to the incidence.

The issue has already been extensively discussed and judged in this and other threads:
Bottomline, the murder was wrong, the Nigerian immigrant community's reaction to the murder was wrong and subsequently the Indian community's own reaction (including the videoed beating) to the Nigerians was also wrong.
But on the whole, the Nigerians were more wrong; just imagine if something like that was done by foreigners in your own community, what would your reaction be?
