Politics / Re: The North Wants To Rule Nigeria For 12 Years, Till 2027 by MeAboki(m): 8:39pm On Nov 26, 2016
Blue3k:

I will bring up oil because it does count. In economics anything produced within your domain counts towards gdp. The Allocation arguements and mineral right arguement holds weight. It's also reason why akwa ibom get most out oil money.

Let's more to IGR the north boast lowest gdp, IGR gdp grossly, lowest per capita IGR as well. Let's look at Kano vs Akwa Ibom or Anambra. In terms of IGR both southern state beat it. Mind you Kano is largest state with second highest population that can bearly match either state toe to toe on any metric.

If you look at graphs of poverty rates the northern regions always comes out higher aswell. As a region and state by state. In terms of IGR SE is 3rd highest politicial region and still bigger that at least 2 Northern regions put together.

Northern region boast many mineral deposits but remains under developed. The fact is that if laziness is subsidized through Allocation states will remain lazy. Thats why people on nairaland generally agree reform would be best.

You just proved to me that you an educated illiterate; you spoke of laziness and were asked to give reason why you called a particular ppl of this country lazy; yet all you could do was to give out figures of IGR, mineral resource and poverty distribution as if these are directly related to the indolence you spoke about.
I put it to you that you evidently do not understand the meaning of laziness; otherwise you wouldn't have used it as an adjective to describe northerners.
Meanwhile, I suggest you first consult a dictionary for the words lazy/laziness; then come back and try to justify your ignorant use of them on northerners.

I agree with first 3 points but last three I won't agree with.

If proper reforms are made they will become productive. Fiscal federalism is needed to get needed why a bunch of other reforms. They are laggard region due to fact the laziness is rewarded with allocation money.

I don't subscribe to collectivism. Fulani are just people look at Niger republic they don't act like Nigerian counter parts with sharia islam as I read. (If I'm wrong let me know).

I do admit most northern policians currently hate idea of reform. They want to remain lazy and broke.

Pls explain what makes you think northerners are lazy and by inference southerners more hard working?
P/S: pls don't give me that crap about oyel money; because we all know that you guys do not actually produce the oil; the oyinbo man does it and simply pays the Nigerian govt royalties, which the govt in turn shares with its composite states.

Chop wetin?
Abeg, comot; do you think I am that gullible to fall for your hateful Igbo propaganda - made up stories in the back streets of Aba by bloggers without ethics or credibility; but blind greedy desire to drive up traffic?

The story is fake and simply modified from an unrelated story of a teacher - student brutality (seemingly somewhere in Kenya) initially brought to attention by a Facebook user named Rita Kigawa.
Here are two links both corroborating the real source of the boy's pictures and the original story.
http://www.alabekee.com/2016_03_29_archive.html
http://nigerdailyeye..com.ng/2016/03/brutality-teacher-leaves-student-with.html Your Igbo bloddas took the story modified it and dishonestly made out that the victim was Igbo and his abuser a Hausa Corper - to serve their hateful evil agenda.

To prove my point: click on the 1st link you provided, it will take you to a google page; click on the next link to open the blog website, NEWSFLASH-NGR with same propaganda modified story.

You will notice, however, how this blogger used this quite different unrelated picture to support his propaganda story.
If you should do a google image search on the picture, it will also take you back to the original story about a 13 yr old boy who was allegedly possessed by spirit in Marang'a County, Kenya.
Here is the link.

Residents of Nkpor, in Anambra
state, were provoked beyond
measure after a school boy was
beaten without mercy for writing
‘Biafra Boy’ in his textbook. An
exclusive report by Ebonyi TV
News reveals that the incident
happened in Ideal Minds
Foundation Secondary School,
Nkpor.
The secondary school student
who was a die-hard fanatic of
Biafra wrote ‘BIAFRA BOY’ in his
student textbook and handed in
his class work to his teacher, a
member of the National Youth
Service Corps deployed to the
school as his place of primary
assignment.
The corps member was reported
to have been offended for what
the boy wrote and as a result,
immediately dragged him to the
office of the principal where the
boy was said to have received 51
strokes of the cane.
All efforts made to speak with
principal of the school was
unfruitful and staff of the school
refused to comment on the issue,
Reacting to the incident, residents
of Nkpor described it as an
intimidation of the highest order.
A woman simply identified as
Charity said there is no way they
will take it lightly.
Another person who spoke on the
condition of anonymity pointed
out that an occurrence of this sort
will never happen in the North.
“If it where in the North, the principal
and the corper would have been
burnt alive by now. But they should
be thankful that Christianity does
not accept shedding of innocent
blood, unlike Islam.”
This is quite provoking! What
happened to freedom of
expression? Although a youth
corps member is more like a
symbol of unity in the nation,
punishing a boy this way for a
flimsy reason will only end up
creating hatred and disunity. I
hope this fire is doused before it
gets out of hand…

What will you gain by spreading this baseless concocted lie - no source nothing; yet some gullible souls seem to be buying it, line hook and sinker?

Politics / Re: Fool Nigeria Once, Shame On You. Fool Nigeria Twice by MeAboki(m): 6:54am On Nov 22, 2016
marryjesus:
[s]Muhammadu Buhari promised to embrace democracy as president, but turned out to be the same autocrat who failed the country 30 years ago.
It’s been a tough year for Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. The mood in Africa’s most populous nation is a far cry from the euphoria that greeted his historic 2015 election — the first time in Nigeria’s history that an opposition candidate unseated an incumbent president in a democratic election. For weeks and even months after the vote, Buhari was a media darling, praised at home and extolled abroad.Since then, the cheers have turned to jeers — even from members of the president’s own party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Meanwhile, his administration cowers under attacks from a disillusioned electorate, members of the opposition, and even Buhari’s wife, Aisha, who said she might not vote for him in 2019, when he is up for re-election.
What’s behind the swift unravelling of Buhari’s presidency? His inability to formulate a coherent economic plan as Nigeria tipped into recession and unwillingness to make crucial decisions — as basic as appointing a cabinet — in a timely manner certainly didn’t help. But the main reason Buhari has lost the support of his countrymen is that the last year has revealed the central premise of his candidacy to be false: The man who claimed in the campaign to be a “reformed democrat” has proved to be the same old authoritarian showman who ruled Nigeria in the early 1980s.
Buhari’s first attempt to run Nigeria ended after a year and a half in the same manner it started: a coup d’état. Back then, Buhari launched a campaign to root out corruption, dubbed the “war against indiscipline”, which was accompanied by restrictions on free trade and free speech, as well as repression of his political opponents. Soon Nigeria was embroiled in a political and economic crisis that paved the way for his ouster.By 2015, however, many Nigerians were ready to give him a second chance. Growing economic hardship and rampant corruption — and the seeming inability of then-President Goodluck Jonathan to tackle either — convinced them to embrace Buhari again despite his checkered past. To many, he seemed like a competent leader — at least more so than the weak and feckless Jonathan.
But there is already a strong element of déjà vu in Buhari’s second stint at the helm. He has again staked his presidency on an anti-corruption crusade and again used it as a vehicle to target political opponents. Now, as before, Buhari’s legitimacy was built on empty showmanship, a hyped-up claim of superior morality and discipline coupled with a healthy dose of disdain for elitism, all quickly overshadowed by an economic crisis that he wasn’t equipped to tackle.
Part of the problem this time is that he promised much more than he could ever have hoped to deliver. On the campaign trail, he pledged to create millions of new jobs and make Nigeria’s currency, the naira, “equal to the dollar,” two Donald Trump-worthy whoppers that were about as likely to materialise as a border wall paid for by Mexico.
The fact that the media didn’t hammer Buhari’s campaign on the ridiculousness of many of his pledges speaks to the quality of journalism and punditry in the country.
In any case, the results have been predictable. Instead of creating jobs, the Nigerian economy has shed half a million of them since Buhari took office, swelling the already bloated ranks of the unemployed to 13.3 per cent. The current dollar exchange rate for the naira is about 455 to 1, compared with 260 to 1 around this time last year. Food prices have reportedly doubled across the country, forcing millions of people to go hungry as a famine looms in the north.
Not all of this is Buhari’s doing, of course. He inherited an oil-dependent economy only to watch the price of crude crater. He also inherited an empty treasury, the result of past administrations’ unchecked venality and failure to save when oil prices were high.
