By the way, Ahmadu Bello Way is not located in the city (as you suggested) but in the G.R.A. of Kano and I still argue that you are free to buy property or reside in any part of Kano, including the city area.
Naturally, non indigenes tend to shy away from that area because of its comparative poverty, congestion and cultural differences with the people rather any rule barring them from settling in the area.
In fact I can give examples of one or two well known non indigenes that lived there : Nuhu Inshora, an Igbo man who married a fulani woman and stayed in Yakasai Qtrs; also Tanko Yakasi (the famous kano politician)who is in fact a first generation Jukun from the middle belt - and now more Kano than the Kano man.
As a matter of fact, Kano is famously known as the city of strangers because nearly everybody there is a settler, as very few can truly trace back their origins to kano; yet they are all deemed Kano people with full rights and privileges.

An Ibo or Yoruba governor ? Yes, it will happen sooner than your people would freely allow and vote for hausa man in a lowly local government election in Benue.
Don't forget, Kano people in particular (voted against their own son , Bashir Tofa) and northerners in general, voted for MK Abiola in the infamous June 12 election of 1993; but were unfortunately forced to take sides after he (Abiola) turned the annulment into a tribal matter.
The hausa/fulani  man is in fact more ready to put ethnic differences aside than he is given credit for; respect his value system , particularly his religion and you will live side by side in peace, otherwise all hell will break loose.

I concur with you on the causes, and can even add the Aguleri/Umuleri crisis in Anambra State to your list; as way of showing that such clashes can occur anywhere in Nigeria - even in the east.
I do not ,however, agree with your presumed views on the rights of the so called settlers in Jos.
First of all, their ancestors did not displace anybody or took land by force when they first settled but rather took over virgin undisputed land, as there was sufficient for everybody then. Since then, generations upon generations after them till date have been acquiring land and property through legal and legitimate means, under the constituted existing authorities of the govts in place.
So please tell us what law; local, state, federal or anywhere in the constitution which prevents any Nigerian from; settling, residing, legitimately acquiring property, voting or standing to be voted for into any office, anywhere in the country.
However, what you are advocating for i.e. the repatriation of these people (and for that matter all ethnicities) amounts to ETHNIC CLEANSING, which is neither acceptable by international law nor practicable in Nigeria - no matter what the separatist fools, busy redrawing the map of Nigeria, may want to say.
Imagine if everybody has to go back to their own region? How many do you think will be affected? How many families that have intermarried and children of dual or more ethnicities do you want to separate? What of people that have invested heavily in immovable properties such as houses, hotels, factories ect.  or simply have established good businesses and markets outside their own area - how would they cope.  
On a sober note, wouldn't you agree that the tribe with the greatest population outside its territory would suffer most. If thats the case, then hausa , Yoruba, Ibo, who will be most affected.
As for your claim about Kano, I say you are a bloody liar because I know kano very well. Not only did I use to live there but still have families and relatives there.
Non idigenes and even non Nigerians  have been free and still are free to buy and build in Kano. Its simply a matter of money, if you have no body will stop you. Show me anybody who claims the contrary and I'll show you a liar.
In fact the people of Kano are so accommodating to the extent that they had elected two non indigenes as their Governors: Sabo Bakin zuwo, Nupe tribe and presently; Ibrahim Shekarau , Biu tribe (or something like that), who also has special advisors from most of the representative tribes in Kano; Ibo, Yoruba, Igala, ect.
Approval for new churches in areas like Badawa and Hausawa quarters are being granted by govt not to talk of renewal of existing ones in the old established Sabon Gari
If you've mentally limited yourself to not acquiring property in Kano, then thats your problem  but don't come to NL with a view  to mislead unsuspecting Nigerians so as to advance your negative agenda of disunity and separation along the lines of ethnicity (and religion).

True talk, rotational presidency is not only alien to the constitution but also alien to real democracy. All this zoning crap along regional/ethnic line is undemocratic, period.

Yes, its a widely known fact. If for example you had watched last night's NTA news, covering the VP's visit to Jos, you would have had a glimpse of the riuned (burnt out) house in question.
Attack on the church was among the ensuing retaliation & counter retaliation on both sides, as earlier mentioned - don't know why you are still in denial; come to think of it, its like a disease (denial) seemingly afflicting most of the haters on NL.

I sincerely doubt if the haters would want to know, they'll continue to be in denial untill they find some thing negative to fuel their hate. Obviously to them, christians are incapable of provoking or initiating violence.
In this case, the haters are too blind with hate to even notice that the story was covered by a white man, ANDREW SIMMONS- presumably a christian; and that the causes identified by Humans Rights Watch were based on the findings of their Washinton based researcher, ERIC GUTTSCHUSS, presumably also christian. Yet our southern hating brothers would still want to believe that the story was biased simply because it came from Ajazeera news, as if to say the killings were stage managed by the news crew only to show christians in a bad light.

Recent crisis was sparked off by christian youths who prevented the rebuilding of a muslim house, destroyed in the previous crisis of 2008, because they deemed the house to be located in(their own)christian area. The youths therefore proceeded to attack and kill some of the labourers involved(incidently not all the labourers were muslims, a few were their christian brothers). This very incidence led to the the ensuing retaliation and counter retaliations on both sides; resulting in the latest crisis.
In short the crisis began because christians attacked muslims first. Yes, some haters would not like it but the truth must be said.
