This is exactly what the old politicians want us to continue doing. Going for each others jugulars, young men fighting each other on religious and tribal lines.

We are first HUMANS before we are Christians, Muslims, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo. A chicken from the north sees a chicken from the south as his brother but we that are blessed with a higher understanding of life kill each other physically and verbally.

Let us win this fight against youths, against Humanity, against our freedom. Let us open the eyes of our minds and see the decay and ruins our fathers have landed us in.

Since we have tried hatred for each other and it isn't working, why don't we try Love? It would be difficult at first but it is always worth it at the end

if you have a deep understanding of Nigeria you would definitely know that it was designed to fail from the beginning. i think we should all know that no one is patriotic to this country unless there is an avenue were he or she benefits from. you cannot be a patriot when all the people do is to grab power and sideline the others like as if they are a conquered territory. we are just wasting our time. Nigeria is just on a time that is running out. Nations are created by the people not by outsiders......if you still believe in this Nigeria then i will only be sorry for you.

The igbs might be the tribe you love to hate but remember this. life is in circles. The tide can change at any moment. those of you who feel that taunting and abusing the igbo Nation would intimidate them are highly mistaken. a new breed of igbos are being born who do not know what happened to their parents and are eager to solve the problems of the past. when you come to condemn the igbos and threaten them with war, remember that there are two sides to a war and Nigeria would never survive it. i don pray for such. but comments here would only breed contempt for this country and the cycle would continue. No matter how strong you are, you cannot carry a bag of rice on your head for a whole day. what it does is that over time, the neck becomes weak. and after a while it might dislocate. a goat is only dangerous when it is cornered. The future of this country is bleak as it is lets not further hasten the dooms day. things are happening under ground that we do not know and might affect us all. the war you threatened people with might actually be the causality that might affect you and your family. if you don't like someone, you dissociate your self from the person. its enough igbos are abused and humiliated everyday. don't let them be the soaked bag of rice that would drag you back. lets be wise.

so after you lots and i believe most of the people who posted here before me a mainly from the south west are done with trying to tell us how foolish the Igbo people are you now expect these same people to reason with you. what most you people lack is tolerance. no matter what you say an igbo man will always be an igbo man. nothing will change even in a thousand years. we all have our attributes. because you act in a similar way doesn't mean that others would behave like you. because it favors you today doesn't mean it would favour you forever. the igbos are who they are. i for one would probably not like the attitude of some igbo people but that does not mean that the igbos as a whole are as bad as you guys are painting it. why in the world are we even a country when different sections and different tribes would want others to behave like they do? we are all different. with most comments here, and what i believe is my personal opinion, i don't think we need to be a nation. probably as neighbors. right from the creation if this country it was bound to fail. and going by most post i am very convinced that the best option is a peaceful split. why would you dictate to others how to behave? do you know that the Americans are very proud and egotistic people? why have they not been spoken to in this manner? if you believe the igbos are your problem then all well and good. negotiate for a dissolution of this country let the SW and SS with the exclusion of the igbo speaking areas and the North form a united country and with Buhari as president. i think all these unnecessary talk wouldn't arise. i wonder why you lots feel that your tribe hasn't cause problems or are all angels that haven't brought serious hardship to the locals. mind you the North and the SW have been the ones in sensitive positions in this country nobody called you guys as people who are greedy and selfish who want power at all cost. so if there is anyone to blame blame these two regions who ran Nigeria to the ground.

I never was aware of such hatred for the Yorubas until I joined Nairaland.

Then my eyes opened.

It was then I began to pay more attention to their nuances, the little sniggering remarks in real life, the comments about cowardice of the Yorubas and the talk about backstabbing that I used to ignore and take for granted whenever I was with Igbo acquaintances in real life.

Then I realized these peeps whom I went to church with, worked with and lived in the same area with are just like, if not the same people who come here on Nairaland to curse Yorubas.

No! I don't hate Igbos. Far far from it. I just don't want people who harbor hatred in their hearts for me and my kind anywhere near me.

That's why I support the realization of Biafra.

That's why I support the self determination of the Yorubas.
your eyes were opened, so were the eyes of other naive igbos too. it goes both ways. i stopped believing in Nigeria. it was a complete waste of time. i personally dont think that it is cool to have a country with so much diversity. it breeds contempt distrust and it has never worked. the best bet is to be friends from afar. not together.

VERY HISTORIC PIECE

Copied from "FRIENDS IKOYI CLUB 1938" Forum posted by Adenike Marinho, a Medical Doctor.

Tunde Oduwole, I-QS.

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE OF HATRED
I had the privilege of attending some meetings of the Yoruba and Igbo Leaders. I was not a leader but a youth who knew how to wash his hands. At one of those meetings in Owerri, I think in 1989, I think, I listened to Uncle Bola Ige and other Yoruba Leaders take the likes of Mbakwe, R. B. Okafor and others to the cleaners when the Igbo said the Yoruba were betrayers, citing that Chief Obafemi Awolowo led them into secession with a promise that if the Igbo left Nigeria, the Yoruba would follow suit. They accused him of not following up on his promise. Trust Uncle Bola Ige! He pointed to Chief Mbakwe and said, "you were there in the meeting between Awolowo and Ojukwu as I was. Is that statement correct?".He turned to two other Igbo and two Yoruba Leaders who were at that meeting and asked the same question, saying he had transcripts of the meeting between Awolowo and Ojukwu. They kept quiet while the Yoruba Leaders affirmed that Awolowo never promised to follow the East into secession. What he said was that if the Igbo were "driven" out of Nigeria the Yoruba would take it seriously and reassess their own position. Igbo Leaders DID NOT CONTEST this version. Then Chief Bola Ige threw in the clincher! "Who are you to accuse the Yoruba of betrayal?" he roared, and continued:
1. At Independence Awolowo offered a joint government between the NCNC and AG, with Zik as Prime Minister and Awo as Finance Minister. Awo and Zik "were still negotiating" when it was announced that Zik would be President in a coalition with NPC of the North. The East then collaborated in destroying the West and sending Awolowo and his leutenants to jail!
2. What of the 1965 elections which the West and the East agreed to boycott? We met all night and reached agreement about 3am on the day of the election. In the morning, while the Yoruba boycotted the election, the Igbo went to vote
3. After the 1979 elections Yoruba (UPN) and Igbo (APP?) Leaders were still at the negotiating table for a coalition when to their surprise, an announcement was heard that the Igbo (APP) had agreed to a coalition with the North (NPN)
4. After the 1983 elections, 1979 repeated itself. Not giving up, Awolowo reached out to Azikiwe again for cooperation. Talks started and they met in Benin where Awo pleaded passionately that only a collaboration between The Igbo and the Yoruba could save Nigeria. They didn't reach agreement but promised to meet again. Before the next meeting, the Igbo had again teamed up with the North
Uncle Bola paused and then continued "we can go on and on. So how dare you accuse the Yoruba of betrayal? How many Igbo have been killed in Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, Oshogbo (he mentioned other Yoruba towns)? You have your businesses in the West and went to Western schools. Yet you count the Yoruba as your enemy. You get killed in Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, Zaria etc and have your goods looted yet you consider the Hausa/ Fulani your friends. It's your choice. If you want to be slaves for ever, we can't help you"
I had never been so scared in my life. I thought the roof was going to fall. There was a pin drop silence and no Igbo dared interrupt Uncle Bola Ige because he was telling the truth. The Yoruba Leaders ended the meeting at that point and left. I hope Chief C. O. Adebayo's memoirs will give more details of those exchanges.
Now to make three points from all this:
A. The Yoruba have been stretching their hand across the Niger for a handshake for a long time. The Igbo refused to take it for a long time until recently
B. Many Igbo Leaders of the 70s, 80s and 90s deliberately perpetrated the legend of Awolowo's role betraying them into the civil war and his role in prosecuting the war, to rally the Igbo population behind themselves. The Igbo agreed on Yoruba hatred than on any other issue. So it was the fabric that held them together for a long time
C. Time heals all things. Many Igbo reading this will be hearing for the first time that their leaders of old knew for a truth that Awolowo did not break his word to Ojukwu as alleged. And to think of it, EVEN IF OUR PARENTS QUARRELLED, SHOULD WE THE NEW GENERATION CONTINUE THE SAME WAY?. ITS TIME TO COME TOGETHER AND MAKE THE HANDSHAKE ACROSS THE NIGER WORK FOR THE SAKE OF OUR PEOPLES AND NIGERIA

goldcoinhub:
Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has reacted to the team’s 2-0 loss to Croatia in their Group D opening in World Cup 2018.

The Super Eagles skipper said he was baffled at the manner the team conceded two goals from set pieces.

An own goal from midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo and a penalty from Luka Modric condemned Nigeria to a 2-0 defeat at the Kaliningrad Stadium.

Mikel said:

“It’s difficult to explain. We talked about it and considering the fact that we trained on it.

“It’s four goals conceded now from set-piece. We have to keep going to try to improve on set pieces.”

Mikel was also quick to play down talk of his teammates’ inexperience against the star-studded Croatian side.

“I think the young guys did well but we just have to keep going and trying to get better,” he added.

A lot of Nigerians have however berated the Super Eagles over their performance at the World Cup. The match would make it the 3rd straight loss the team would have at any international match.

A forum user wrote that the match against Croatia was the worst match the Super Eagles had ever had at any World Cup

"The super eagles were terrible today against Croatia in their opening match at the Russia 2018 world cup. This is the worst game the super eagles have had in their world cup history.

All the players were terrible, the coach came with a rigid game plan that emasculated the team and locked in their advantage which was their youthful energy.

The super eagles looked pitiable against their opponent." He wrote.

Nigeria will face Iceland in their next game.

As I watched the Argentina and Iceland match today and
wondered why there were no black players in the Argentinean
team when other South American teams had black or biracial
players, I remembered a conversation I had last year.
It was while I was on a cruise from Florida to the Grand
Cayman Islands in the Caribbean.
Between an Argentinean doctor and myself, who had walked
up to me during lunch one day and struck up a conversation
with me.
There was no hiding the attraction.
We had bonded much to the chagrin of her three Argentinean
friends.
On the deck of the ship that day, she kept going on about how
she loves black men and looks forward to traveling so she can
meet them.
I asked her.
"Don't you have black people in Argentina?"
She said with a matter of fact candour.
"No. Long time ago, after slavery, we killed them all."
I was taken aback.
She smiled.
And continued.
"Very bad. I am ashamed of my people. It was very systematic
though. Very well thought out. First they forced most of the
men to fight for Argentina against Paraguay. They knowingly
sent them into battles that were poorly planned so that the
Paraguay army will do for them what they couldn't themselves
do. Kill the blacks. Most of them died there. The remaining of
them they forced to live in this province were there was a
plague. A disease that the government refused to curb so that
it can also do for them what they couldn't do. Kill the blacks.
The refused to set up hospitals, clinics, adequate shelter, food
outlets, nothing. They created the best environment for the
disease to thrive. It killed the rest of the men that had
survived the war. The darker you are, the higher the chance
they will send you to that place to live or to the war to die. The
lighter skinned women they forced them to sleep with the
white men, so that their children are biracial, then they forced
the children when they grew older to sleep with white men, so
that the blackness of the skin of the children became whiter
and whiter until there was no longer any visibly black people
seen. It was so bad that blacks fled to Chile, Peru, Bolivia,
Brazil and even Paraquay where they were better treated even
though not as well as they should be treated as human beings
deserving full equality. Atleast those ones did not want to kill
them and accepted to give them protection and a means of
livelihood. As a matter of fact in Chile, there was a city called
Arica where Black people were so accepted and respected
that in the 1700s two black free man, one called Anzuréz were
elected mayors. But the white colonial masters from Spain
came six months later and nullified the elections, they were
afraid of other cities giving black people too many rights. But
the blacks who had found succour did not complain, they sent
word for others to flee Argentina and come join them. Afterall
what was cancelled elections compared to certain death?"
Then she went silent as though trying to replay the magnitude
of the crime in her mind again. Then she said it in a sombre
tone in order to drive it home to me.
"The ones the Argentineans did not kill through war or
disease, and rape and impregnate, fled the country and
ultimately we got rid of the blacks."
I listened in rising sorrow.
She continued academically.
"So although they abolished slavery in 1815 in Argentina, it
continued until 1853, after that the main preoccupation of the
leaders was how to get rid of the black slaves and their
descendants. Our president who ruled us from 1868 to 1874,
Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, wrote in his diary in 1848, this
was long before he became president and slavery ended that -
'In the United States… 4 million are black, and within 20 years
will be 8 million…. What is to be done with such blacks, hated
by the white race?' - It shows that he was already thinking of
how to eliminate black people before he became President
and when he became President, he succeeded."
"Didn't the world say anything?"
"No. They ignored it. I am sure most of them wanted to do the
same thing but failed. At that time, they admired them. I
remember when I will go to Brazil as a child, my father's friend
will say in disgust as he looked at the black Brazilians - we
should have had your guts and finished them off. All of them.
Make Brazil white just like Argentina."
"And the Europeans?"
She laughed.
"It is an open secret, just like King Leopold and his genocide
in Congo. No one talks about it, but they know about it.
Atleast the older ones do. The younger ones not so much.
Why do you think all the Nazis ran to Argentina after World
War 2?"
I was silent.
She continued.
"Because it was the perfect place for the most evil racists in
history to live."
Then she looked out to the infinitely blue sea around the ship
and sighed audibly before she continued.
" Sadly, to some extent, it still is welcoming and accomodating
of racial hatred. We took the Tango from the African slaves
and made it our own. In Argentina, not one person will tell you
the true history of that dance. They don't want to associate it
with Africa. In fact if you ask them about black people in
Argentina they will tell you that there has never been black
people in Argentina. They teach them in schools. They rewrite
the history. They make it all white. And as I said it is all
underneath the surface. They never come out and say we hate
black people. Argentina is only for whites or anything like that.
They have just fixed the country to only be for white people."
I looked at her friends, Argentineans like her, who were
lounging on the chairs on the deck, clad in their tiny bikinis,
drinking pina coladas and smiling.
She followed my gaze and then turned to me.
"Don't be fooled by all those smiles, scratch the surface and
you will see that all they want is for you to disappear."
Toronto.
where did you get this?

Innoson is truly behaving like someone or an organization that could actually engage in forgery, which is the charge EFCC has brought against it in the other trial.

What happened was a landmark and pioneering crime of forgery of a whole Supreme Court judgement, so what then is a minor case of forging shipping or business documents?

My people say, Eefin ni wa, ko se fi pamo. It means attitude/manners is like smoke, it cannot be hidden.

As for GTBank, if you eventually lose at the supreme court as you had lost at the appeal initially, kindly pay up.

As for Innocent/Innoson, if you are equally found guilty of forgery in the criminal case against you by EFCC, kindly waka go jail jejely.

I don't want to hear, "is it because I am Igbo?".

This is purely a business case in one court, and a criminal forgery case in another court. There will be a winner and there will be a loser in both.

There is no tribal case in any customary court.

If Soyinka were the NECON chairman instead of Nwosu in 1993, all these controversies might not have happened. Nwosu chickened out when he should have defied all odds and spake the truth. He should have gone to Abuja to spit at their faces; he chickened out again. How pusillanimous!

However, Gani would have been disappointed in his family accepting that award. He would have rejected it. Certainly not from Buhari "a repented democrat" who still eulogise Abacha (the fourth most corrupt leader in history). So, Soyinka has asked the big question. Is Mr President intelligent enough to answer it?

However, before we crucify Buhari, let's save some nails for Jonathan who also eulogised Abacha in 2014. We are cursed with bad leaders afterall-a reward for a sinful nation.

The euphoria that follows Abacha's death 20 years ago still rings loud at the highest decibels in my ears. The investiture programme in Abuja is in its best a facade, a farce, a pantomime and waste of the nation's resources.
