udele1:
What is happening to Nnamdi Kanu now is nemesis. The blood of the thousands of igbo youths he wasted for the FENDI BIAFRAN FRAUD, won't let him have peace. Especially the spirit of miracle nwobodo, the young police lady killed .

Kanu knows he is in Big trouble and needs mercy from Buhari. Evidence of all his ESN crimes are piled up. Alot of ESN members waiting to confess.

So going by the case, he is finished. The moment he heard IPOB was about to do the first sit at home in protest of his arrest, he kicked against it.

He sent a message to DOS of IPOB and told them not to do the sit at home. He knows that what he needs now is mercy from buhari. And sit at home with further provoke him.

His family members know the true situation, but Those in IPOB don't.

Remember the first time his lawyers saw him, he asked for unity. IPOB members said he did not mean unity in Nigeria but in IPOB. However he meant unity in Nigeria. He already raised the white flag.

As karma would have it, DOS of IPOB refused to suspend the sit at home. As soon as his brother kanu nta, found out that DOS was not willing to follow the order, he announced the suspension. They went on with the sit at home and called him a saboteur.

Today, they can't control it, and Igbo's are beginning to see how evil, wicked and scary this Biafra will be if gotten.

Instead of the foolish IPOB to use Buhari's visit to beg Buhari's to have mercy on their leader, they are declaring sit at home.
Instead of them to deploy the same gutter cleaning strategy they used in Ghana, to plead with Ghana government to release their members, they are declaring sit at home.

If they fail to use the opportunity positively, then its finished for Nnamdi Kanu.
[/s] The rate at which senselessness and foolishness have increased on this site needs to be studied. jeez undecided

Politics › Re: Bonny Belongs To Ijaws! by meccuno: 1:18am On Sep 08, 2021
[s].
bobowaja:
The issue of opobo and bonny people should be laid to rest. It belongs to the Ijaws.

First before you shout Yoruba awedu eating afonja, you should understand I am a full blooded Yoruba man. No need to remind me.

Secondly, I love history and I won't like seeing revisionists articles flying everywhere on the forum.

To the matter. I think ijaws are to be blamed for this flaw. They broke the first rule of survival which is self preservation.

There is something called acculturation in their culture. It is an act of baptizing of stranger into their folds. And in this case, pepple house, which was the ruling house.

Opobo was acculturised into Ijaw way of life and made to benefit from the house inheritance.

According to town culture, heritage is not by birthrights but by who is capable to rule the house. Jaja was capable, though there was a in-house civil war when he was made to rule the house, but he won decisively. This marks the beginning of his exploits.

The Ijaws followed him as their ruler. And during the palm oil boom (palm oil also known and red oil). Jaja has already taken control of the water ways and creeks for trading with the Europeans (his sagacity and business acumen can't be overruled). This sole act gave him some form of monopoly over the new trade in the creeks, he was the sole exporter to the UK in rivers while still maintaining holds on who trades what along the water ways with other European countries. He was wealthy so does the city he built from the ijaw followers.

A source from premiumtimes: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/155532-general-minimah-opobo-ancestry-burden-history-eric-teniola.html

This will later put him into trouble with the Queen, as the UK was so greedy to the extent that she wanted to trade directly with the merchants which they did after sentencing jaja to banishment in Accra (present day Ghana). Jaja himself was instrumental in conquering Ashanti forces (but let's not deviate from the topic).

The palm oil boom brought about large numbers of Igbo in the hinterlands into bonny (it must be corrected that though some were slaves but most Igbos that came during the oil boom were free born not slaves). They came with their cultures and way of lives in such numbers that threatened the indigenous people. Instead of ijaw to take control, they decided to hide some vital part of the community from them like languages etc... But this backfires as Igbo became the largest spoken language in the area in just matter of years (the indigenous people also adopted the language).

Another source (oral interview): http://asirimagazine.com/en/opobo-chronicles-from-genesis-to-revelation/

It should be noted that this is not the first time indigenous people will adopt other people's language, clothings, names and other cultural values. Example is Akoko Edo in present day Edo state. Most of the towns and villages are very fluent in Yoruba language, they adopted the Yoruba language and some part of cultures. Even some of their towns have Yoruba names, but they are not Yoruba - they are edoic group. Another example is ijaw in present day ondo state. Most of them speak Yoruba fluently and adopt the names, typical one is Omoyele Sowore.... He is an ijaw man who could be mistaken for a Yoruba man. Apart from those, there are some far Edo towns in etsako east local govt like okpella etc that have Yoruba names and also speak the language fluently, that doesn't make them Yoruba. The current ruling house in Ilorin all bears Yoruba name and speak Yoruba fluently, that doesn't make them Yoruba... They are Fulanis! The itsekiri adopted their clothings from Bini, that doesn't make them one.

The point I am trying to make here is that, people adopting your language, name and culture doesn't change them from who they were... Their identities will still remain intact as their genetical makeup.

Even an heavily biased igbodefender blog here admitted one truth which agreed to heavy migration of Igbo to the ijaw owned town.

Source: https://igbodefender.com/2016/05/16/more-facts-emerge-that-opobo-and-bonny-people-are-mostly-igbo/

To that boy that said he wanted to cry when he heard people speaking Igbo fluently in bonny, you have tears in your eyes. Language is for communication. If bonny is located in the north, they will speak Hausa fluently. In Southern Kaduna alone, there are more than 20 tribes. All of them speak Hausa but still retain their cultural identities.

I am done. You are opened to bash me, but make sure you bring evidences of opposing views. Insults alone won't do the trick.

UGLYSALT:
So i was at somewhere yesterday , and few Top People are discussing the IPOB Sit at Home.

Some are making Good Points , until one man said something that shocked me !!! , Below is what he said !!!

He asked all the people around there !!! , These Guys or Group of men called IPOB or ESN , That Ordered the Sit at Home .... How many of una Don See Them huh

And Nobody talked !!! - He asked , Where is there Office Located !!! ...... "No Response"

Do they have a Medium where you can communicate with them and ask them Questions ? .... "No Response"

How Many IPOB Youths was arrested , and why did they not Put Sit at Home Order for them Until They were Released .... "No Response"

The Man Continued ........

The ESN or IPOB Started with Burning and Attacking Police Stations - Killing Police Men and Military Men ....... What are there reasons for doing these huh? - Remember that when they started this .... The Nigeria Government Never Arrest Nnamdi Kanu .... So why exactly are they doing that !!!

The First Day ..... SIT At Home Order Was Observed - People Who don't Abide by the Rules where beaten and some of their Shops Destroyed huh
- So for what intention are they doing that huh

Across The IGBO States - None of the Government Officials Challenged the Order , Banks were closed , School , Markets , Churches .... Even The Governors Obeyed the rules !!!

Coming to Anambra State -November 6th 2021 is the Forth Coming Election .... If ESN Place an Order of Sit at Home That Day , How many of Anambra People will come out and Vote !!!

Since They Started With Burning Of Police Station , Burning of INEC Offices , Killing Of Police and Military Men .... This is a Clear Evidence That These Group Of People wants to Take Over Power , In a very Deadly way !!!

This man Added That ......

A Time will come when ..... IF You are a Very Rich Man in Igbo Land .... and You don't Physically Support The IPOB or ESN ..... They will send you a letter .... which they will use the order you to Close down your business ..... and you know you can't say NO.

What This man is telling the IGBO's is that they should wake up now .... before this Sit at Home rule .... will turn to what Taliban are Doing to Afghanistan.

Politics › Re: Fulanization Agenda: Questions For Gov. Ortom And His Likes by meccuno: 3:33pm On Aug 31, 2021
[s]
Sirjamo:
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has recently been in the news for one reason, speaking what he called "truth to power," on the security situation in his state and other parts of the country. To be fair to the governor, no state executive would sit down while his people are being killed almost every other month without doing anything to remedy the situation, but, is the governor going about it the right way?

The reason why the Fulani ethnic groups are hell-bent on setting the state on fire, according to the governor is to displace the natives and take over their lands, and the President is inn on the plan, hence he has refused to be ruthless with them.

If these opinions are that of governor Ortom alone,it wouldn't have bother me this much; many Nigerians have spoken out in support of all the governor is saying on both the social and conventional media. Mr Ortom is somewhat of a hero right now, going from one media house to another, laying all sorts of allegations. The governor is basking in the euphoria of his immunity, I do not think anyone without immunity would have been so bold enough.

Before I would believe anything, I always try to go deep about it and understand the logic. If a theory or proposition does not make sense to me, after careful evaluation and references to similar phenomenon in the past and even present, I quickly discard it and move forward. That policy has never failed me.

As they say, no man is an Island. Since Nairaland is a Forum where I can have the pleasure of diverse opinions, I decided to bring the issues for discussion, by raising few salient questions with the hope that the governor gets to see this thread, and his supporters here too can tell us why they think he is making sense with his utterances.

Here goes the questions:

1. Benue state has a history of violence spanning many years, including the Jonathan years, was Jonathan in on the alleged Fulanization agenda?

2. We all know that Fulani constitute the most part of the bandits terrorizing states like Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, Kebbi.... Does the Fulanization agenda includes killing thousands of Fulani?

3. Why is it that, when bandits strike in Zamfara, it's banditry, but when the same bandits strike in Benue, it's Fulanization/Islamization agenda?

4. If Fulanization is real, it means that, for the agenda to succeed, other ethnic groups will have to be exterminated or forced out of Nigeria. Yoruba, Igbo and other ethnic groups whose combine population is more than one hundred million people would have to be conquered, how is that even possible?

5. President Buhari administration has been in power for six years and three months, if it came with an agenda and it has not been able to succeed after all these time, does it make sense that the agenda will continue with just 21 months to go? Reality must have set in that this was a futile attempt.

6. Finally, where in the world has it happened in recent memory, that an ethnic group over - run a whole nation and takes it over by way of conquest? Is governor Ortom and his supporters not stuck in the 13th Century?

Note: This is not by anyway, trying to exonerate the government from it failure to secure the country, the bulk stops at the President's table and he swore to protect lives and properties of the citizens.

The difference between us is, I believe the government does not have the capacity to secure the Country (I will do a thread on that when I can), while the likes of governor Ortom believe that the government is behind insecurity.
[/s] Nairaland has been getting worse. Since a useless man without an O Level became president, the reasoning of people on this site has dropped considerably.
Politics › Re: Buhari: How Nigeria Recorded Biggest Economic Growth In Six Years by meccuno: 3:17pm On Aug 31, 2021
[s].
adenigga:
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said Nigeria’s economy recorded five per cent growth in the second quarter of 2021, which is the highest in six years due to focus on job creation, consistency in policy and innovation.

Buhari said this at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, during the launch of the Jubilee Fellows Programme which he said will further consolidate on the success recorded.

The President listed some of the key drivers of economic growth and diversification in the second quarter to include telecommunications, transportation, electricity, agriculture and manufacturing.

“Tuesday, 22nd June, 2021, I set-up the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) steering committee to coordinate our work to fulfil my promise to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years. This is building on the positive results from the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan and the targeted response to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with the Economic Sustainability Plan.

“These efforts have yielded results with Nigeria recording its biggest economic growth in six years with a GDP growth of 5 per cent in the second quarter of 2021. The sectors that drove this growth are trade, telecommunications, transportation, electricity, agriculture and manufacturing. Each of these sectors showed significant improvement and thus created more jobs for our populace.

“An important part of our policies and strategies is the focus on employment and creating opportunities for our people. When this government was elected in 2015, we committed to increasing job opportunities for Nigerians and as part of our social investments programme we recruited 500,000 graduates into our N-power programme,’’ he noted.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said Buhari gave a directive in 2019 for the number of graduates to be increased to one million.

“These graduates are recruited to work in agricultural, health and education institutions across the country. The N-power programme also has a non-graduate component that provides skills to tens of thousands of Nigerians in areas such as technology, masonry, auto repairs, and carpentry.

“We estimate that about 2 million people join our labour force annually. We continue to work with our partners to provide more opportunities to create jobs and the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme in partnership with the United Nation’s Development Programme being one of such opportunities,’’ he added.

The President said, “The jubilee programme will provide a pathway for young Nigerians to gain work experience in top tier organisations, gaining relevant skills and building the right networks for the future in various sectors including information and communications technology, financial services, trade, manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing.

“Other sectors include mining, telecommunications, creative industries and technology, education, health, research and development, and public sector institutions. We believe that building the right skills and experiences across these sectors are important to sustain the economic growth we are experiencing.’’

He said the programme will build on other efforts of the government to support young Nigerians such as the N75 billion youth fund in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, which was created to support young Nigerians in business or with business ideas, with N25 billion released annually for three years.

“The Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) was our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have set-up a survival fund which has helped many businesses stay afloat in the worst economic periods of the last 5 years, more than one million Nigerians have benefitted from the fund, with more than 500,000 benefitting from the MSMEs Payroll support track, approximately 270,000 beneficiaries of the artisan support track, and about 50,000 beneficiaries of the MSME grant scheme,’’ the President added.

He said the International Labour Organisation estimated equivalent of an unprecedented 255 million jobs being lost around the world as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Buhari noted that the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, being a fully paid post-NYSC work placement programme would provide an opportunity for mentors who were already engaged in various industries, gained relevant experience and built capacity over the years to provide fully paid post-NYSC work placement programme would provide an opportunity for mentors who were already engaged in various industries, gained relevant experience and built capacity over the years to provide mentorship and support for young Nigerians.

“Beyond the skills and work experience, we will be building a new culture of mentorship and guidance that can chart a new course for skills development and work experience in our country.

“We believe that as this programme creates new opportunities for 20,000 recent graduates annually, the beneficiaries will use the opportunities presented to them and maximize their 12 months of engagement,’’ he said.

The President encouraged all eligible Nigerians to apply for the jubilee programme, while urging private sector organizations to join by providing work placement opportunities, mentors and funding.

“I would like to say thank you to the United Nations Development Programme and the European Union for their support on this vital initiative. And I hereby declare the program open,’’ he said.
