professional courses being regulated by the government normally has two accreditation, Nuc accreditation ( to start a course) and Council accreditation e.g Mlscn, Mdcn, pcn, Nmcn ( for professional exam, gives quota,).

Lasu might have Nuc accreditation, but not nmcn. They can't write Rn , Rn e.t.c. Am sure the accreditation process will take place this year or next to allow their students to write RN exam.

You can check this site to confirm

you have to wonder why they are actually going there --is it cheaper or do they have ulterior motives --like a gateway to malaysia.

http://www.philstar.com/nation/2017/03/16/1681719/Philippines-lags-asian-university-rankings

Nigerians are common in their marine transportation colleges in the Philippines but it is also a known fact that many of these kids end up in malaysia committing crimes.

I have been to manila and some of the other major cities in the Philippines --they do have great beaches ,but this is a third world country with poor infrastructure and a poor standard of living.

Instead of fighting at the Philippine embassy ,they would be well served if they could show such anger at the national assembly and insist of a better deal for the Nigerian student.

Sir, most students going to Philippine wants to study either medicine or Nursing. They were denied admission to study particularly ( medical course in Nigeria)

If the government can build more medical schools it would ease off a bit.

APC is the worst thing to have ever happened to Oyo/Osun.

Strike every year in all institutions, ( from Uni to hospitals). No improvement in social amenities to aid bizness.

Opposition has always being badluck to we omoluabi, we thought Akala wasn't good enough we voted Ajinase, we thought Oyin wasn't good and we voted aregebese.

Only God can save us but we also need to be ready.

Having attended both public and private institutions in the country, I can authoritatively say that it all boils to greed.

Some might question me that I haven't experience poverty before, so I can't say the poor students that turn sluts is not there fault, but I will repeat it again , it all boils to greed.

In my 100Levl, I had a female friend that change my orientation about life. She comes from a family that can't afford (5000) to give to her in a month. A family that can't pay 65k in a year with opportunity to pay twice. A family that can't give sufficient foodstuffs to there ward when going to school. Knowing her background, this lady had to work and Save 200000 personally before seeking for admission into school.

She paid her school fees, rent, bought books by herself and little help from her parent. In other to sustain herself, she plaits hair, manicure , paint s ladies finger e.t.c in school. The day she made me stupid was the day we were told to buy manual in school, I called my parents boiling on phone , telling them to send me money, but this girl had to beg her friends to plait her, to get money for the manual. I respected her that day.

My point is there are many poor and striving people/students out there who would never trade there body for anything.

There are some students that I know, that collects up to 50000# as pocket money, and still involve in prostitution. There parent provide what they want for them, but they are purely greedy, covectous and insatiable.

Everyone should be responsible for his actions.

Education / Re: Please Advice. In 400l And Considering To Write Jamb by Meel: 10:27am On Dec 23, 2017
explorer250:
yeah. I got admitted into the department of agricultural engineering in futo in 2014 and I will be in 400 level by January next year but the problem is that I can't continue because I never loved the department from the start.

i am having nightmares and feel very sad anytime I remember that I will be graduating as an agricultural engineer but I wanted to study electrical and electronics engineering.

initially I thought that I could manage the course and maybe change department in my 200l but things didn't go as planned. I have seen that the course I am doing is intolerable to my nature and at this point I can't continue with it.

I am seriously considering to write jamb next year and study Mechatronics but I know that my parents will be mad at me and disappointed. but this is my future and I don't see how Beng in agricultural engineering will help my life.

So please do you think that it is a good idea for me to start from the beginning?
Hmm , ask yourself this question what do you really want??

Are you in school for passion or for financial success. Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years ( An Engr , business mogul e.t.c).

We go to school for different reasons , most for financial success, some to fulfill all righteousness of being a graduate, some due to parental pressure.

What is really your goal??

I might be wrong, but if you think being an Mechatronics Engr equates to financial success, you are on a long thing( for dis naija). But if your parent are well grounded financially and can sponsor you to get all professional qualification after grad, then go for it.
But if na hustle you wan hustle for naija, baba continue with your AGEng.

Lemme use my self as example, my first Jamb I choose unilorin, Med and sug, but I was denied admission. The following year, I chose Lautech Med Lab, I was give agric science.
When I knew that what I really want in life is to be financially buoyant, I went for my animal science. During my stay in Lautech, we were on strike for 2 years, I had to cross to a private Uni to follow my passion Med Lab. Even though am studying the course I really want, I am not deluded by the fact that am in Nigeria, where the course you studied doesn't matter. You can study Yoruba and be successful.

Let assume you get the admission next year, by 21, adding 6-7 years to your age , that is close to 30 bro. You have not done masters, no certification , no work experience, just B.eng. Most firms today prefer younger bloods to old grad.

Weigh your options bro.

When they were making business transactions and enjoying millions I wasn't there, so why should I get myself concerned about it. To all those trivializing these , injustice is being melt out daily towards citizen of all tribe, ( when Sars start there own, they won't sidepick a tribe).

Competition ,

Why are our local producers scared of competition, the government should not ban the product, they should allow the oil importers.

Our indigenous producers already have home advantage. Am sure if our indigenous farmers should bring down there price, no one will patronise the investors.

Last year, when there was dollar shortage, farms purposely increase yam price , ( saying other produce cost is high they must increase there's).

We need competitors for the benefit of Consumers and the populace @ large.

Have your dream for Med lab died down sir??
Why don't you apply for direct entry into private University (Abuad, Madoona e.t.c), with your Bsc cert, and am sure you will be admitted.

MSC Clinical Chemistry ( Chemical pathology ) wont give you the opportunity to work in the lab.

All scientists posses same license, no matter where you get your degree so far the institution is MLSCN accredited.

And so? How will someone go to the university and read medical lab science in today's Nigeria? I remember a Doctor interacting with me at an hospital that the course has no relevance in the hospital setting. They are not doctors, nurses, microbiologist that works in the lab or even wardmaids that attend to nurses.
They better prepare for the reality of life after school! Or maybe they hope to work in the bank or NNPC

Don't know about USA visa procedure,

With your Bsc biochemistry, why don't you do D.E into a Nigeria priv Uni, where admission is sure. ( To minimise cost,).

MLS students offer some pharmacology courses in there 400level, does that make them a pharmacist, or work in the capacity of a pharmacist??

All medical students offer there counterparts course, but each profession is distinct. With my Clinical experience, I can do some work as a nurse, pharm radio e.t.c. But am a quack in that field, it is not an acceptable practice anywhere in the world. if you are biochemist, microbiologist e.t.c tow your path. Just because you offer a 5unit course in a field doesn't make you an authority in there.

In Lautech , they offer both MLS ( college of health) and SLT ( faculty of science). The only course they offer together is Bch 201. No similarities between the two.

Am sure he course content will show more fact( if you choose to accept). or maybe SLT curriculum is not the same thing in the federation.

I thought you calmed down. But its obvious that your beef for SLTs is still very much alive. For your information, ASLTON and AMLSN Delta and Kano State Chapters were in court of recent because AMLSN came questioning our rights to operate a testing laboratory. The both ACT was finally explained by the court. Finally, ASLTON got victory and their Laboratories were reopened. Go and find out these for yourself. SLT graduates with the NISLT License operate testing Laboratories in Delta, Rivers, Kano etc...... Please do know we are not struggling with you over your Diagnostic laboratories. You can retain the name for the registration of your Business with CAC. Take ASLTON to court if you have any issue and stop attacking childlishly on nairaland.

To all SLT graduates/NISLT Members, know that you can operate your own testing laboratory go through the NISLT ACT but leave the name Medical yyyy for these haters. Do your Publicity well and be very good in your field and you will attract your clients/patients.

@ op and other posters, every employer of labor is guilty of these act in Nigeria. Check the life of all those speaking, you will see that the act they are condemning is in there life. I think 100% profit making for the employer is in the DNA of all Nigerians.

During my long stay at home , I interned at two place , a veterinary clinic and a big Farm.

The reception in the Veterinary clinic is being paid a meagre of 16000 per month. This same lady makes @ least #500000 per month , for the clinic through booking of birds, but she his not paid 10% of the profit she is making from a side deal for the company, not even her main job.

In the farm I was working then, whenever my boss harvest fish, he makes a profit of nothing less than #400000 in 2 months, not to talk of poultry and other farm produce. But how much does he pays his staff?? 8000!!!

Even all the mushroom schools in our environment, the owner grows fat while the staffs suffer ( normally being paid 10k at most.

My point is that Nigeria is bleeped up country, everyone is looking for ways to exploit each other. If the staff feel oppressed, and unhappy , they should hussle hard to start there own company, or resign and work for another company.

Nothing works in Nigeria, but one should just strive and be at the top
