I can't seem to understand the reason for all this exchange of words when we should be in a mournful mood.

I have no real issue with paying tax. In fact so many developed societies were built on monies accruing from paying tax.
What i have problem with is the actual utilization of this taxes. Nigerian Government - at all levels - have failed us in that aspect.
The vigour with which they impose or enforce taxes should be commensurate with the level of development, PERIOD.

I served in Jos, years back.
I remember vividly my stay.
I served at the outskirt of Bukuru, Police Staff College to be exact.
A beautiful city, with the greatest weather in Nigeria.
I did all i could to get a job in that town.
I loved that town, with a passion that seems to surprise even myself.
I write with a burden on my heart that could send a trailer across the edge.
I write with a lot of bitterness that could make a snake venom taste like blood tonic.
I write with tears cascading my cheeks like the numerous water falls that line the plateau landscape.

Those that partook in this heinous crime have totally missed the vehicle to normalcy.
They shall never see or enjoy peace all their lifetime.

May the soul of those that died rest in eternal peace.
Jos does not deserve this.

There is nothing in this world wrong with it. The major thing in any relationship is understanding, tolerance, and most importantly LOVE.

Personally, i think the comparison should not even come up.
I mean, your mum whether alive or dead is your mum. Your wife
will ever remain your soulmate for ever. The love for both of them
are world apart.

A man's mum is his mum, a man's wife is his wife period.
Any attempt to draw comparision will bring bad blood.

I have nothing against paying tax, but what the tax remitted to Government coffers is utilised for.
What impact has Government had on the people with several years of collecting tax?
This issue should be treated with a bit of caution.

But in all, i think patience is also a major reason; you cannot eat the fruit while the tree is in blossom.

Shutting down a whole market because of tax is really not the best.
First and foremost, we need to identify the type of tax you want this (mostly semi-literate) individuals
to pay.
Is it permit?
Is it PAYEE?
Is it a case of Withholding Tax?

I mean, let's start from somewhere, the daily money they pay to the Local Government officials and "omo ni ile",
where really does it go to?

Lets go a little further, Lagos State rakes in a lot of money from tax monthly, say close to 7 billion, what do they really do with it?
Where is the impact on the suffering masses?

Next time Lagosians, vote for the man who promises least; he'll be the least disappointing.
