My Olodo finance student. America’s Dollar is strong because of two things:
1. They manufacture nearly everything they need, locally. They import few things.
2. Their currency is being used worldwide as the base currency for international trade, because of their stable economy. Their currency/economy doesn’t really experience serious inflation.

Recently, countries are thinking of dropping Dollars and embracing other currency as means of payment worldwide. So Dollar may lose its value. You can go and read more about efforts that countries like China, Brazil, UK, India, Russia etc are making to switch from Dollar to another currency.

As per Nigeria, Nigeria’s currency is low not because we are borrowing but because we don’t manufacture locally. We import up to handkerchief, toothpicks etc. and na your brother from the Yeastern land caused over 60% of naira to loose its value because their fake and substandard products being imported by them.

Whenever you import, you have to pay the seller in foreign currency. They don’t spend Naira in the country where you imported. You have to look for the currency in which you have agreed to pay, with the seller. So, in the process of Nigerians carrying around Naira looking for foreign currencies, Naira will loose value.

Assuming we manufacture most things we need, locally, we won’t import so there won’t be need to look for foreign currencies to pay for good or services. Also, we will export part of what we produce/manufacture locally and make earnings from it.

To have strong currency, we must produce over 70% of what we need, locally. We must have industries. Not iced-block industries o or betting shops o. I mean real industries. That’s why we need steady electricity.

You lack knowledge of Finance. In Financing, debt is better than equity for financing projects because debt is cheaper. Ask a finance person to interpret this to you because you are a mumu person.

In your personal finances, don’t use your money to fund projects, even if you have. Borrow and be paying small small while you still maintain your own money.
Why has Dangote’ not use his cash to fund the refinery?

The American that is now your God and savior over Nigeria has the highest debt in the world.
Go and verify, as your Pandora would say.

So, when funding huge projects on a long term, you don’t use your cash; you borrow, instead.
