I like those No-named "Northerners". They actually mean business. You can't mess with them and go free. Why shouldnt they continue to plot to rule, that's what England and America do, as did their forefathers to guarantee that future generations could survive better. Jonathan signed up for this gig, with the knowlegde that Yar Adua may croak anytime. He's part of the plot, and many Southern governors, senators, and ministers are also part of the same wreckless mafia that "Northerners" use. Imagine Nzeribe being a senator from Imo state for 8 years, and Nnamani governor for 8 years and now senator? Our country takes the crap it is given. Even homeless and poor persons in Yankee fight for their rights and living conditions, whereas in Naija, those market women will sell in infested areas day in day out and that's that. |
blah blah blah, we have read these things before, even during Abacha's time. Nigeria's economy can even grow as much as 50%, yet I guarantee no change in areas outside of Lagos and Abuja. Ibadan roads, Aba roads, and Bauchi roads, well Bauchi roads may actually improve lol. We need a total revolution, whether it begins with soccer or agriculture, in one city or one state. |
That is good news. Its like the NFF hiring a mercenary weeks before the biggest event they are suppose to plan for. See, this is Nigeria, where leaders of government, Soccer, Universities, etc., can basically do whatever they want, and no one, even OBAMA, can do anything about it. It's only when there's a dispute among the powers that be, or a wreckless oversight caught abroad (like IBORI) that something may happen. But left with Nigeria, these people can do whatever they want, and you guys cant do a dam thing about it. Even the reporters report as if they too, are in awe, writing about IBB as if he is a credible human being. Common criminals are ruling your town and your mothers town, and our people are busy dancing to P Square, Dbanj, going to mosque or their Pastor's place, and sitting in stupid traffic on 3rd main bridge and thats that. We tend to carry ourselves as if some of us are children, others cowards, others heroes without a following. Tommorrow it will be Al-Mustapha contesting and winning a seat in the Senate, or Abachas son becoming PDP governor of Kano state. |
I went to Abia state in March. It was actually what I read it to be on Nairaland. It's a pretty worthless state as far as development. I didnt like Lagos so much, but looking at Abia, there's no need to even go that state. This doesnt mean Abia people are inferior, but that there's no leadership in that carved out region of the world. Are we no longer reading about the French and Russian revolutions? I know it sounds crazy, but that sounds better than "Ewoh, God will provide o' |
What are the so-called geographic zones of Nigeria? How can you zone the presidency of a country? Next you will also be zoning it based on religion, income, educational background (in which case Southerners have the edge) ![]() |
From a purely soccer gaming perspective, it's not just a failure, it's an embarrassment for the African World. South Africa has done a great job in hosting the event, but from the field, their team is a disgrace. Cameroon from the first game is a disgrace Nigeria, well, have been playing the worst football in its history for about 3 years and running Ghana a little better, but wont go far Algeria living on hope alone Ivory Coast ??South America however, with less teams are undefeated Asia however, has more Asian coaches than Black Africans in this World Cup CONMEBOL, with only 3 teams have more points than all the 6 CAF teams put together UEFA teams always have the advantage, and Greece beat Naija Oceana teams are undefeated |
Worse 1. Yakubu 2. Keita 3. Obasi Good thing no Midwest player is here J.K. Best 1. Enyeama 2. Taiwo 3.Odiah The last two I just threw in |
I was thinking the same thing. Early in the game he received the ball around the midfield, and instead of continuing the counter-attack, he passed it ALL THE WAY back to a defender. I thought it was unusual of him. Before the tournament he was praising who he called Oyibo, Lagerback that is, as being great, because the guy showed them tapes, but apparantly, the team sucks, and Odemwingie cant perform with the current starting lineup that is ridiculous |
We really wont know until all the last group stage matches are played to see if CAF teams will go thru. As of now, even Argentina, England, and Germany are not guaranteed a spot in the R16, But those statements accredited to this CAF official are nothing new, as in 2006 only Ghana made it to the R16, only to lose 3-0 to a less than average Brazilian Brazil. Before then, in 2002, only Senegal, who beat Lagerwack lol in 1998, only Nigeria, who lost 4, to 1 to Denmark. Even in the Nations Cup, only a team (Egypt) who failed to qualify for 2006 and 2010 World Cup can win 3 tournaments in a row, beating each and every world cup qualifying team on their way to lifting the trophy. So abeg, we've heard all of this before, all talk, no action |
France is a European team and is currently representing the UEFA in this World Cup, along with countries like Italy, Spain, etc. The fact that their players are predominately of African descent (including former Zidane, an Algerian) may imply to non-followers of soccer that they are a "Black" team, but they are not, and do not compete in the African Nations Cup, nor CAF competitions. BUT, As a result of the poor performance by the majority of CAF teams in this World Cup, along with terrible referees from CAF in this World Cup, and bad officials of FA's of CAF, France might as well claim to be an African/Black team. They have a bad coach, no team harmony, no team leader, bad preparations, qualified by chance, and play like the chickens on their emblem. |
Obviously Mikel is our best midfielder, as the likes of Haruna, Etuhu, KEITA, and co all suck. Mikel clearly didnt want to risk his football career not because of injury, but because of the embarrassment of playing for the SE. Imagine after the world cup is over, scouts from all the great leagues will be signing and resigning those who performed, as well as some who didnt perform so well, but rode the wave of their team performance deep into the tournament. Haruna is okay, and may perform in the future, but is starting today because there was no one else, and our overzealous support of him after he scored against a useless Colombian team that didnt qualify boosted him. |
Amodu at best was also a mediocre coach, who Nigeria had given three different times to make something happen. His best and his era ended in 2002, and since then, he had not coached any national team, or any club of substance, until he was recycled and used as a tool to deny KESHI, SIASIA, and OLISEH a chance to take over from Vogts. His WC 2010 qualifiers and friendlies were nothing to ride home about, and it was sheer individual talents like Enyeama,Odemwingie, Martins, and Nsofor that saved the day. Yet many of us wrongfully saw that he didnt lose any match, even reaching the Semis in Angola, so he MUST BE GOOD. So, Amodu is mediocre, and Lagerback is also mediocre, except that those rich and developed Scandinavian nations retain their coaches (like Denmark, whose coach has been there since 2000), maybe because their countries are peaceful and there's constant light lol. So yes, Lagerback may have landed a job in Europe coaching Moldova, Finland, or even Liechenstein, but would NEVER, I mean NEVER earn the amount NFF is splitting with him with a European FA, I mean what for. He doesnt care about Nigeria and its team, because any veteran World Cup coach would have pulled and benched YAKUBU and Obasi, even YOBO, after the First game |
@honeric01 LOL!!! Thank you!!! That seemed like my little nephew wrote that. I have to admit though Nigeria is playing bad, the world was expecting more from the Englands and Frances and Spains of this time. So I have to give the FIFA World Cup Disgraceful Rankings as 1. France 2. Nigeria 2. Cameroon 4. England 5. Australia 6. South Africa 7. Spain 8.France 9. Nigeria 10. France and Nigeria |
I hope you are not calling England a big team? They have money, political power, and respect from the former conquered nations (like Nigeria and Nigerians overlove for the EPL lol) But like Spain, underachievers in soccer. Big teams of this World Cup are Germany (though they lost today), Brasil, Argentina, Netherlands, and Italy Great teams in this edition are Uruguay, Mexico, Chile Determined teams in 2010 are Ghana, USA, Paraguay, Slovenia, Ivory Coast, Japan, New Zealand, Serbia, Not that they wont lose or crash out, but those teams above are making their nation proud. Teams like England, Spain, France, Cameroon, South Africa, and NIGERIA are not serious |
Why should he shut up? He said the truth, just like those who equally said he was one of the reasons we failed to qualify for Germany 06 when he failed to play in a few of our qualifiers, after assuring Chukwu that he'll make the games. Now that is another debate in general, but when Okocha actually played for Naija, along with Oliseh, Finidi George, Adepoju and co, was he not among the world's best? Was he not an inspiration player and leader on the pitch--unlike Yobo , unlike Yakdudu. I hear Okocha is interested in contesting the upcoming NFF elections so I'm not surprised he's making public pronouncements, but all the same, he's telling the truth. Everyone from every corner of this world, from every profession watching this tournament, every newscaster, every school kid, every African, German, American, is saying that Naija is playing shitty, except of course, many Nigerians who are living in self denial, who will say, "lets support IBB", lets give Lagerback more time, lets, BULLSHIT!!! One American friend of mine said Nigerians are either progressive, cowards, or children. Of course I said his family members are cowards, but people, Our actions speak for themselves |
Should be who are the worst players in this tournament |
No more mercenaries, stick with your own just like the Algerians and the Egyptians. Amen to that, imagine NFFools were trying to hire the Egyptian coach lol |
I see, good heads up, But that means that we go from 6 to 5 then. |
Exactly, just to add on the this bandwagon of analysis, If Ghana beats Australia, they have a good chance. A draw would compromise them, and a lost would probably end their hopes If Algeria ties England, then they still have a slim chance, especially if Slovenia ties the USA Cameroon is a joke Ivory Coast has to hold Brazil, or lose by a lone goal, and hope Brasil beats Portugal in the last match Nigeria, well they need to field a different lineup against Korea and well, win I'm sure that in 2014, FIFA will take away 2 places from the useless CAF authorities and give to South America and Oceana. Maybe, just maybe if CAF only had 3 spots, and had playoffs for one more, the very hungry and determined teams would make it and play well as did Cameroon '90 and Nigeria '94 |
Are you asking in general or for the last game against Korea ? |
I don't think you guys understand what's going on in that team. I think there's something fishy going on there. I have some questions to ask: 1. Why wasn't Yakubu substituted when it was obvious that he was unfit for the match? Or did the power brokers gave instructions that he must not be replaced in the match? I observed that Amodu hardly substituted the striker in any match. 2. Why Osaze replaced with a striker (Obasi) at half time when we know that Osas was not tired or injured? Did Osaze refuse to play in the second half of the game? If osaze was to be replaced don't you think it would have been with a defender and not a striker (obasi) #3 What was Martins doing on that bench? 4. Was the team selected for the coach or did the coach select the team? Pls no racism and don't crucify the coach! You ask great questions Allwell, yet people will disregard these questions and opt to blame in full Keita. In any given match, there could be a winner or a loser. Germany also lost a man down and it appears that they are going to lose to Serbia who lost to Ghana. Yet the German team played very well, and will do well against Ghana. Serbia also improved. Nigeria has not improved, and the Uche goal was a fluke. People that are saying that Siasia is untested and this and that arent aware of what is called "SOCCER", where a new player that's brought in wins a "CAP". Everyone starts somewhere, and SIASIA has done very well for our national teams. Where was DUNGA or Maradona coaching before being appointed to coach those big nations. Even Dunga coached Brasil U23 team in the same Olympics that SIASIA coached and reached final. What of Germany 2006, where Klinsmann coached for the first time? You gotta give our coaches a chance, especially those who have done well. Most of our players have been discovered or worked with Siasia/Eguoveon already, and they have coached against the likes of MEssi and co. Also, this is what we have, ANC 2012, then ANC again in 2013, WC Qualifiers from 2011-2013, WC 2014, and ANC 2015. That's alot of tournament opportunity, and why not get a local coach to take over for 4-5 years? If he fails in ANC 2012, why not think he'll improve by ANC 2013? SIASIA?EGUOVEON?OLISEH ![]() ?? |
Well, he made a grave error, but he wasn't the first and wont be the last red card claimer in this tournament. His sending off clearly changed the game, but our people love to look for scapegoats when the obvious is standing there in front of their face----we had shitty preparations, a corrupt NFA/NFF, poor players and poor team selection. We also have an inferiority complex, that European rejects/managers are superior to our coaches. What really was wrong with hiring Siasia who coached us to the final in China, a same tournament that DUNGA was equally coach of Brasil? What stopped us from taking/trying new players at the weak Nations Cup in Angola when many of our sorry players were injured? Was it fear that their bribed positions would have been threatened? Even if local African coaches fail in the WC, that wouldnt stop African coaches from improving, since the 14 or so European teams and perhaps 7 other European managers of foreign countries can't win the cup at the same time, which means failure as well for them. "First it was "SANI" Abacha, Then "SANI" Yerima, Later "SANI" Lulu, now it's "SANI" Kaita. For how long sha we allow SANI(s) to soil the name of our country. ." lol |
We can still qualify. It doesnt mean that we have a good team, a good coach, but that there's a tournament and those two with the best points (points, goal differential, etc) will move on to the next round. Except for Argentina, the other two teams in our group have lost one game at least by 2 goals or more. Nigeria has lost by one goal (though they played poorly). There were pundits that thought Greece were going to lose to Naija before the 1st Half begun, but look what happened---a red card by Kaita, continuous shitty play particularly by YAKUBU, YOBO, and OBASI, and crampings by our defenders. So Greece not only equalized, they scored 2wice in what pundits may call a "MIRACLE". All four teams in our group know they have to win to guarantee a spot in the R16, and South Korea (who didnt play so well against Greece nor Argentina) could lose to a Mediocre Nigeria team that manages to score 1 or even 2 goals. The bottom line is that we need to introduce new and different players. Martins needs to play, Ideye needs to play, Adeleye needs to play, and possibly try Utaka and/or Kanu. Those who have already played and havent contributed anything or inspired victory---YAKUBU, OBASI, YOBO, ETUHU, should be benched. But something tells me that Lagerback doesnt really give a dam and is ready to get back to Sweden with his NAIJA DELTA naira. |
Yakubu, just a terrible player. Nothing good about this guy who doesnt make runs, create space, win headers, pass well, bribing NFF to get automatic shirt Yobo, unpatriotic and uneducated, uninspiring, There's news that he has already said Naija isnt going to qualify for R16 although there's still a meaningful game left, sure his MBGN bride is on his mind only. By the way, Everton is not a top club, Portsmouth nko? So all the players from these clubs, KANU/YAKdoodoo/Yobo/Utaka, na wah' |
Great thread, It really should not matter the color of the player or coach, since after all, France won the World Cup in 1998 with African players, and reached the 2006 final with African players. But then again, why do we have more Asian coaches in this World Cup than African? And why do we at the last hour hire and overpay these European managers. Why do we even employ European coaches who have mediocre records to coach us, and believe they have our best interest at heart. There's no European nation that has hired a Black African to coach them at the European Championships, or U21 Cup. That's just by the way. A good Non-Citizen can coach another country and even lead them far, but there has to be a great institution for that to happen. If you have a corrupt-free FA, dedicated players, and a long term (3-5 year) development goal, then that coach could do well. In Nigeria, we have good local coaches-SIASIA, Eguoveon, Oliseh, even Keshi and Chukwu, and there's absolutely no way you can say that Berti Vogts or Lagerback are much better than them. We should also use some players from our domestic leagues, look at Germany, after they were up 4-0, they introduced a kid to play upfront, meaning that they allocated one spot to a youth/domestic player who probably is not in a senior club squad. |
Fortunately and unfortunately, we can and probably will make it to the second round with 2 losses. Yet we need, as we did with Mozambique/Tunisia ( REMEMBER PEOPLE>>> other factors to happen. They are, I think:1) To beat Korea, 1-0, 3-0, just to win the game 2) Argentines beat Greece, , 1-0, 3-0, just beat Greeks 3) Introduction of several new players/ new lineup ie: Enyeama-captain Odiah Shittu Adeleye Echiejile Ayila/Etuhu* Uche/Kanu* Nsofor/Haruna* Odemwingie Martins Ideye/Utaka* *Possible changes, but Utaka and Kanu, lol, get em n der' |
The first few entries on this thread were beyond funny ![]() But people, he made a bad choice, it happens, and really, it didn't change much of what has already occurred--which is, those "Super Eagles" who have played the last two games and those who have coached those games, are not that good. |
When Lagerback's 5 month contract expires, it should not be renewed. I'm quite sure when the whistle blows after the next match (that is, if we don't defeat Korea), Lagerback will fly straight into Sweden and that's that. The NFF has just as much power as any big name Nigerian institute, as well as similar characteristics (corruption, greed, 'unpatriotism'), and there is not much any of us, the cyber army, can do about it. When some of Senators are busy marrying 13 yr old Egyptians, who can pressure effectively any change in the NFF. Except there's an internal change in NFF/Sports Ministry, and/or our self, culture of accepting nonsense, or government, it will, after this World Cup, continue as usual with , "Shove it down their throat", and a manager from Moldova abi Belarus will be hired until 2011, then local coach for 2012, and finally a EUROPEAN former 2010 World Cup Group Stage coach will take us to Brasil in 2014, and in 2015 the same routine. For the fact that many of our untalented players enjoy a sacred cow status on our team (i.e. YAKUBU, Yobo-who is the most uninspiring captain, Kanu, Utaka, etc.) and can be called to go--EVEN INJURED-- to the Nation's Cup, World Cup, Team Camp, smells like corruption, bribery, and secret arrangement. The fact that we recklessly hired and fired and paid Amodu the lowest salary for a World Cup bound team and a record salary for a Mediocre European, again smells like corruption, bribery, and secret arrangement. I won't be surprised that Lagerback's lineups against our first two opponents was in effect, a way of shortening the tournament for himself, so he can jet back home with loads of Niger Delta generated NAIRA, except he fields a totally different team for the Korea match. |
Of course we all have known that Siasia should have been our coach. If for some reason he wouldnt take the offer, we still had a descent Keshi and upcoming Oliseh that NFA/NFF could have selected. But we all know that this is Nigeria, where business interest of the few supercede the happiness, creativity, and talents of the many. Oliseh, after interviewing with the NFA/NFF, revealed how unprofessional our so-called sports authority was, by giving them silly exams. Nigeria wants to pretend that they are the giants of Africa, when they can't even beat Mozambique, whereas Brazil (who's football chairman is someone who knows about football- PELE) has qualified, ENGLAND-who's league Nigerians are so (too) fanatic about, has qualified, and Netherlands-who although already qualified, ended Scotland's quest by defeating them in their land. Can Alhaji Lulu even tell us that Nigeria can beat Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, or the North Africans, not to talk about Paraguay, Mexico, Germany, or South Korea. Lastly, I don't understand how a coach (SIASIA) can do well with the U-20 team, take them to the final, then handle/promoted to the U-23 team, take THEM to the final, and instead of taking over the SENIOR team, be demoted BACK to the U-20, and an AMODU, who has been sacked two or three times before, without making any coaching head way in any club since his last sacking, be brought back to handle and SELECT the senior players. Nigerians, this is a disgrace, please spread the word all over the internet, in newspapers, in emails, with phone calls, one at a time, tell everyone the truth, that our NFA/NFF and their wrongful selection of coaches and uncaring players are simply a DISGRACE. |

other factors to happen. They are, I think:
