I can't confirm the authenticity now but a friend told me Petrol was sold at 50naira at one of the NNPC stations.

It's good there is an impending downward review in the price of petroleum and I hope with this our wailing brothers would admit this is indeed Change.

I think credit should go to GEJ though IF true. grin
I don't mean to disrespect the person of GEJ, but we can't always give him credit in arrears, it's a fact PMB has not built any new refinery or pipeline but his prudent management of our resources and implementation of (existing) policies that has brought about this change we are experiencing.

How can it be GEJ when he did his very best to bring down fuel price but couldn't?

Was there a time that fuel sold at official pump price at all fuel stations during his era?

They say our refineries are working in less than 50% capacity yet we are seeing this downward trend in pump prices, how much more when production approaches 100%?

I will take your comment with a pinch of sarcastic satire. grin

I don't really blame him for the actions he took. I remember the height of muslim bashing on Nairaland and up till now you still see things like islamabad in reference to islam being bad, mohammed and his 72 virgin thing, their turning to the east type of worship and all their doctrines which look alien to Christians. its difficult to pick out one insult the Muslims have said to Christians on this forum. It is actually Atheists against Christians on this forum and its usually ex-Christians who are the atheists. Seun was only trying to stem the tide having seen the insults to Muslim was coming from one particular source without much retaliation. But ill be honest, this is the only available means Christians can voice their anger towards muslim... in real life they'll be skewered and used for suya in minutes. Muslims are more intolerable in person.
Which one should we rather prefer: to be attacked with Verbal bombs on social media or suicide bombers on the street?

I think the reason some Muslims take the later approach is the inability to express their bottled up opinions on some issues of religious differences with people of other beliefs.

Christians are more open and tolerant of religious criticisms than their Muslim brothers. grin

@Seun
Why are Muslim Nairalanders allowed to comment on Christian threads but we're not allowed same on their threads?
I always wonder at the wisdom in that, yet we talk of freedom of expression.

I guess the ...... are all religious bigots.

If people of different religious beliefs are segregated on social media, what's the essence of the "social" added to "media"?

RomanceRe: How I Recommended A Lady For My Big Bro by menxer: 1:11pm On Oct 10, 2015
SSpeter:
When My older cousin living abroad was pressurised not to marry a yankee or African American but a Naija babe. He felt bad for a while because he had to break up with his college girlfriend. The task of recommendation was thrown out to every member of the immediate family who was interested. (where I come, we marry via reference so as to ease inquiry into the lady/guy family) being my paddie beause he buys me stuff grin I joined the race and promised to help in the search days later I forgot everything. My Aunt (Mum's cousin) and my Mum were fed up because the guy often rejected some of the ladies they linked him with.

It was my kid's brother's matric day so I went to stand by him. Looking around I saw so many pretty faces then my cousin came to mind...(although I am not attracted by pretty faces) so I didn't speak to any then something came to my mind grin I love intelligent girls (If you like look like 'ikwikwi' as long as you can best me in any logical reasoning and analysis I am already in love with you).

So I went straight to the closest school (faculty) which was faculty of sciences, I started staring at the result boards looking for female brains...It was more difficult than I thought cos the school actually removed the names of the student only matric number and result chaiii....so I copied all the top mat numbers who were finalist from all the departments in the faculty. luckily as I was leaving the school (faculty) I noticed students exiting a lecture theatre so I asked a guy which department he said MCB 500level.

I smiled brought out the matric numbers I copied from micro biology and was shocked the five top matric numbers I copied 3 were females. He told me their names nd pointed one to me. She wasn't elegant but not short so I knew she will do. I introduced myself we conversed and she accepted to take a shot with my younger brother nd I. Right there she even told my young bro "ensure you apply ur heart to studies alone"...that comment made me smile. I got her contact and she left.

I travelled back, told my mum then called my cousin. My cousin asked how are you sure is not a flirt? I told him point blank, you can't be wayward and top ur department success requires discipline. My mum called his mum and they chatted with her on phone invited her and when we finally linked them. my cousin told the mum..."this surely will do"...while I was still serving, I attended the traditional weeding... trust me na I collected my percentage for services rendered... grin...nothing is free
At least I have been to school, MCB is never a 5-year course, unless the school in question is not in Nigeria, abi them don change?

PoliticsRe: Salary And Allowances Of NASS Members Revealed At Last - Vanguard by menxer: 11:15am On Oct 10, 2015
Bevista:
Spot on! Couldn't have said it better. But this is not even where the major problem lies.

The total of these figures (salaries & allowances) is about N16bn. The main problem lies in the balance of the N120bn budget. This is where most of the NASS fraud is hidden. Why should 2,500 persons have an annual budget of N120bn while most states in the country (with population of over 5m each) have an annual budget of less than N100bn?
120bn - 16bn = 104bn

I now understand why corruption is an institution.

sharing the balance equally on state basis, each state +FCT gets 2.8bn to make noise with. grin

Cancer?

It may be divine judgment since Nigerian system won't be able to adequately judge/punish her for wrong doings in office.

She doesn't necessarily have to be in perfect health to give account of her stewardship, I bet the cancer was there when she did all she is accused of.

The battle is not to the strong nor perfect health to the Uber-rich. grin

RomanceRe: Reasons You Should Never FORCE A Relationship On A Lady by menxer:
After all said and done, let's not forget that we are a product of the "love affair" of/with our parents.

children from an abusive home may tend to gravitate towards people that would treat them or they could treat in like manner in a relationship.

Sometimes a "girl" may go into a relationship with a "guy" with that father-child love fantasy still intact in her mind, and if the "guy" is just a "guy", she is bound to be dissatisfied no matter what; leading to a walk out.

The reverse can also apply.

Maturity comes when one is able to root and upgrade that default settings that are not in one's best interest and/or that of others.

Ps:
I overlooked those that go contrary to their better upbringing/judgment just to spite

FamilyRe: What Would You Do In This Situation? by menxer:
It's a typical case of "spare the rod and spoil the child".

The child has never had any form of discipline from the parent, which explains the child's audacity to flush away the money knowing the mother won't bat an eye, but she did this time; and being that the mother prolly never disciplined the child, doesn't know where to draw the line between correction and abuse.

In my part of the world, Dem no born u well make u break plate while washing, talk less of flexing with ur school fees; flushing that amount of money down the drain is unimaginable.

It can't happen for Naija, even if the pikin chop witch. grin

Ps:
Though I know of a case, I ask a child in my neighborhood why he was giving the mother attitude, he replied "mother doesn't beat me or give me something to do as punishment". Single motherhood is a challenge.

Very inspired post.

Every motivational success book talks about mentors, and like the OP's experience, negativity abounds in Naija, positive mentors are scarce.

Those that you look up to as mentors are looking for ways to exploit you to the maximum, and so you are drawn into the vicious cycle, if don't realize it for what it is.

CrimeRe: BOKO HARAM Is Also ‘your’ Problem by menxer: 6:40am On Oct 06, 2015
One sure thing about Nigerians is we take joy in the misfortune of others irrespective of ethnic or party affiliation.

If we had sensitized our people instead of making it a northern problem to be solved by FG it wouldn't have gone this far.

The bible admonish us to pray for the peace of the land we live in for therein lies our peace.

[NIV] Jeremiah 29:7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.
