Never bring us into your minority issues again...or we will truly poke nose if you repeatedly invite us... On your question above...this relates with January 16th 1966. What was Nzeogwu's mother tongue? In 1966 Nigeria...and even till this moment your identity is classified based on your culture and mother tongue. Your mother tongue places you in a ethnic category. In 1966 Midwestern Region was not a culture, it was not a mother tongue. There is no tongue in record called Midwestern language. Even Nigeria sef does not have a tongue. So how do you want to classify Nzeogwu? Is he Hausa...abi na Yoruba? |

Why didn't y'all name Chukwuma Ezeogwu coup an ANIOMA/SS/NDR coup?
Some Aniomas accepted their Igboness, yet y'all counter such acceptance.
Go and check OHANEZE assembly, you will see Ikwerres, Aniomas etc there as general of something. You have no shame. Have you see any other majority tribe, beside Ibo, publish list of minorities under its fold? NO. So why do you do it? Its not because of what Yoruba said or did not say....it's because you have always had a contentious struggle with minorities in your region. They dont want what you want but your lack of tolerance for diverse view have prevailed upon you to keep claiming their territories as Ibo region. I was on a thread very early this morning and I elaborated on Ibo's intolerance for diversity. It pervades everywhere in your society and create many ugly battlefronts for you. Yoruba did not tell you to be intolerant of others, you choosed to do that....and your neighbors, on their own, reject to identify with you. |

ChiSomtoChi: They will Igbos are only in the 5 SE states. Very bogus! Yorubas will claim that there are indigenous Yorubas in Benin, Togo, Kogi state etc because of the following reasons: 1. They bear Yoruba names 2. They practice Yoruba culture 3. They speak a form of Yoruba DIALECT. 4. Their communities bear names with Yoruba words.
No one and nobody argued with the Yoruba about such claims. Everyone including Igbos agreed.
Now Igbos said there are indigenous Igbos in Delta, Edo, Benue, Kogi, Bayelsa, Cross river, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon etc. Despite the Igbos used the same 4 reasons the Yorubas used, Yorubas still deny such claim; calling Igbos land grabbers. We ain't land grabbers. We are trying to unify the whole Igbo nation. The BENINS are the land grabbers not Igbos. Why will I leave my brothers to an unknown stranger? I'm from Enugu state Udi LGA to be precise. I'm from the Umu Aneke Owo kindred in Amokwe town. History has it that the whole inhabitants of Udi LGA came from a great man AGBAJA. AGBAJA is the man that gave birth to the whole of UDI LGA. Also, AGBAJA was from the Awka axis. He was a relative of Awka people. you can see the connection between Udi and Awka. Some Awka people gave birth to some Igbos in mid west.
Afonjas, wetin una gain in killing the unification of Igbos?
You will boldly agree stupidly that Anioma are not Igbo but you tagged CHUKWUMA Ezeogwu coup as Igbo coup. Why can't you term it ANIOMA COUP?
The FBI 80 Igbo lists that was released last month, some of those Igbos were from Delta state. Yet y'all tag it an IGBO affair. I thought you said no Indigenous Igbo in Delta.
Whenever a Delta Igbo man commits crime, y'all will tag him as Igbo.
Nawa ooo. In the whole Nigeria, it's only Igbos history that is being tampered. And that must stop.

Danwakae: 12 years old for girls to get married is from the holy book, QURAN ... not a law in the north. I have read the Quran cover to cover many times, no where is 12yrs, or any age for that matter, prescribed. What the Quran says is a girl is ripe for marriage after her readiness for reproduction. Readiness for reproduction is relative and should be governed from biological and as well psychological state of mind. Men are driven by lust to exploit fresh young girls before they form a mind of identity. Perversion is what made men mis-interprete and set 12yr old as threshold. |

Lament exclusion from Buhari’s budgetary plan
· Seek immediate intervention to save their businesses
Victor Ogunje in Ado Ekiti
Frustrated by abysmally low patronage from travellers, a sizable number of roadside traders in Ekiti State have contributed N250, 000 to rehabilitate fix federal roads in the state, especially between Efon Alaaye and Ado Ekiti.
The traders, who are predominantly women hawking such farm produce as yams, banana, plantain and corns on federal roads, lamented that they had been excluded from the fiscal plan under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Some of the traders expressed their concern in separate interview with THISDAY on Friday, narrating how abysmally low patronage from commuters in the state compelled to contribute N250, 000 to fix federal roads in the state.
Operating along the highway at Efon Alaaye farmstead in Efon Local Government Area, the traders said they had to task themselves to carry out palliative works on the roads when it started affecting their businesses adversely.
Speaking with THISDAY, a 52 -year old locust beans seller, Mrs Oladunni Olagoke said patronage had dropped because over 80 percent of motorists had diverted to Ita Ure-Efon-Iwaraja road to avoid the bad portion of the Ekiti-Osun border where they were trading.
Olagoke said this had caused “serious slump in the level of gains they were making on daily basis. Before the road went so bad to the extent that the motorists and some of our best customers decided to take alternative route, I was making between N20, 000 and N25, 000 daily.
“But now, I hardly goods valued N5, 000 per day. Many times, we went home empty handed. This situation prompted us to contribute N5, 000 each, though depending on the strength of your business.
“There were those who contributed N1, 000. Some contributed N2, 000 to buy gravels and hired labourers to do the palliative works for us. The idea is to attract commuters to the portion of the Ekiti-Osun road that commuters had abandoned. Now, our customers are gradually returning.”
Giving insight on the materials they purchased for the project, she said: “We bought five loads of gravel at N35, 000 each. We bought two loads of sand at N30, 000 and the remaining money went for the labourers and food.
“But we could only carry out palliative works which will not last. We therefore appeal to the federal government to rehabilitate Aramoko-Erio-Ijebu-Ijesha road where we stay so that our means of livelihood can be sustained.”
A 21-year old secondary school leaver, Miss Ajibike Ayomide narrated the ordeal of the hawkers on the federal roads in the state, noting that the portion of road had damaged many vehicles and caused accidents of monumental proportion before their intervention.
Ayomide, who hawks bitter Kola along the corridor, said: “This is where we make money to live our lives. We have to keep our bodies and souls together. I am a school certificate holder. I finished secondary school two years ago.
“But I had to start hawking to raise money to continue my education. I was happy to contribute a sum of N1, 000 to the palliative work because it will boost and improve patronage from commuters passing through the corridor.”
Also speaking, a water vendor and a mother of six-month-old baby, Mrs Kehinde Osuolale said many motorists had accidents on that road as a result of potholes and craters.
“It was even God that saved us one day when one truck had brake failure while meandering through the potholes. It was God that did it, we all ran into the bush to prevent being killed.
“You can see that I am hawking with a baby at my back, if I get a better job, I will surely quit this job. But we appeal to government to have mercy and repair this road to actually promote our businesses,” Osuolale explained. SE Leaders should take lessons from these Yoruba women. Self-development! They intervened in their own success and ignored FG's empty promises by using cooperative funding to get for their communities a resource vital to the growth of their commerce and sustenance. I tip my hat to these women in salutation! May God bless them and reward their spirited effort! If I reincarnate a million times, I want to be Yoruba each time! |
Politics › Re: Constitution Did Not Provide Specific Role For Vp’s Office – ACF by MetaPhysical: 1:32pm On Nov 10, 2019 |
The apex northern soci-cultural group, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), yesterday said that the Nigerian constitution did not assign any role specifically for the office of the vice president and cautioned some Nigerians against fuelling crisis in the presidency.
ACF’s secretary general, Mr Anthony Sani, while reacting to insinuation by some Nigerians that the office of the vice had been relegated, said the constitution empowers the president to assign roles to the vice president.
“I am finding it hard to make out why the hue and cry about what is happening in the office of the vice president by way of some reorganisation of some functions and reassignment of some staff in the vice president’s office by the presidency.
“More so that both the presidency and the vice president have dispelled any misconception that there is a crimp between the president and the vice president,” Sani said, insisting that the constitution did not provide for any specific roles for the office of the vice president.
“Any function performed by the office of the vice president are at the pleasure of the president who has the right to assign and reassign both functions and the staff in the office of the vice president.
“If Mr President has decided to reorganise some of the functions hitherto performed by the office of the vice president as well as to reduce the reported 80 staff in the office of the vice president by 35 staff for performance, it is the constitutional discretion of Mr President to do so, and there should be no qualms,” Sani said.
As regards the president’s not transmitting a letter to the national assembly and not handing over to the vice president this time around that he travelled out, Sani said it was important to note that the constitution makes transmission of the letter mandatory only when the president would be absent from his duty post for at least 21 days.
“If the days of the absence from duty post are less than 21 days, I believe the president has the discretion to either transmit the letter to the national assembly and hand over to his sidekick or not. If the president has chosen to exercise his constitutional discretion this time around not to transmit the letter to NASS and hand over to the vice president because the days of his absence are less than 21 days, that is his constitutional right,” Sani added.
He said the current developments in the office of the vice president are not enough signs of a divided presidency, adding that the presidency had made clear of that.
“More so that the principal actors have said there is no problems between them.
But should there be any crimp in the presidency, my plead is for the president and the vice president to work hard and overcome what is trying to put the presidency asunder. This is very necessary because only purposeful leadership that comes from united presidency with clear thought and morality can deliver on the promise of the electoral mandate freely given by Nigerians,” he said. I am providing here, free of charge, a tutoring for Mr Anthony Sanni. The statement he is responding to was issued to the effect that Vice President Office is an Establishment of the Constitution. I quote below - Chapter VI Part1 - The Federal Executive -
141. There shall be for the Federation a Vice-President.
142. (1) In any election to which the foregoing provisions of this Part of this Chapter relate, a candidate for an election to the office of President shall not be deemed to be validly nominated unless he nominates another candidate as his associate from the same political party for his running for the office of President, who is to occupy the office of Vice-President and that candidate shall be deemed to have been duly elected to the office of Vice-President if the candidate for an election to the office of President who nominated him as such associate is duly elected as President in accordance with the provisions aforesaid. The above quote, and many sections after it ESTABLISHES A STATUTORY office and power for the VP. In contrast, no where in the Constitution can one find mention of a STATUTORY office for the Chief of Staff to President. Those with Statutory powers, like the VP have order of preference and hierarchy of power to those who have not been designated with such powers, even if they sleep and wake with the President in same bed and eat out of same bowl. Here is more of what Constitution says on Staff and is under same chapter above - 151. (1) The President may appoint any person as a Special Adviser to assist him in the performance of his functions.
(3) Any appointment made pursuant to the provisions of this section shall be at the pleasure of the President and shall cease when the President ceases to hold office. Compare "duly elected" for VP to "appoint" for Staff/Advisers. Mr Sanni derailed the first publication to this effect. On the issue of designation of roles, Sanni is correct. We are making too much noise over a clear and straightforward matter. To his credit, I present below what the Constitution says in continuation from above quoted Statutes - 148. (1) The President may, in his discretion, assign to the Vice-President or any Minister of the Government of the Federation responsibility for any business of the Government of the Federation, including the administration of any department of government. The President has not done anything wrong in the manner he has delegated roles to the VP or to skip him and delegate it to others. Yoruba will occupy this seat one day as President. The best we can do is pay attention and make mental notes...Buhari is setting the tone, we should not have any sense of guilt to follow in the practice. Simple! |
