I start with the election regulation boss himself Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. INEC had a very heavy task on its lap and it delivered successfully with a level of satisfaction never before recorded for the commission. It can do better in future elections, hoping "lessons learnt" from 2019 become key improvement inputs for 2023. BIG THANKS to Prof Yakubu and his Team at INEC! Next is Minister Lai Mohammed. Alhaji Mohammed is now the head of APC party structure in Kwara State. He was instrumental in aligning the O to Gee movement into the opposition and forcing a displacement of the Saraki structure in Abuja, Ilorin and handing Saraki a sounding defeat even in his own electoral unit and the wider Senatorial constituency thus killing the erstwhile griphold he had on Kwara. Thumbs up for Minister Lai Mohammed, the Liberator of Kwara! My dear Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode must be recognized. He was scorned, he was ridiculed publicly, he was humiliated, he was even threatened with impeachment....yet he remained humbled and restraint. He could have pulled the Amosun trick in Lagos but instead rallied his supporters behind the party's choice. Even President Buhari was impressed and using him as his poster boy announced to Governors to use Ambode as model of a party loyalist. Big SHOUTOUT to Ambode of Lagos, a Ministerial candidate on the NextLevel! |
Galaxyowerri:No, not necessarily. It has functionality in a highly mobile society, regardless of its value class. What I suspect will happen is they will use existing law to restrict operation by speed and kerb weight and perharps make new law with road markings to give it protection. |
rezky:The ones making noise about it will be most adversely impacted if APC decides to institutionalize what they demand. Kaduna, a NW state, has had Christian Governor and Deputy Governnor. Yobe, a NE state, has had Christian Governor and Deputy. Several states in NC, SW, have had Christian Governor and Deputy. SS and SE have always been governed by Christians. This is where the noise for balance comes from. So an institutionalized balance will transform religion in their zones in ways they have not imagined. The competition for power will heat up differences along religious line and their muslim candidates will start reaching to muslim populations in North, West for sponsorship and support. SS/SE is not Islamized now but it could if the changes they demand is made into law. My advice to them... "Becareful what you agitate for....if granted it could shake the earth underneath you!" ![]() |
oilPUSSY:God is the only self-subsisting, no pair! Everything else need a paired opposite to grow and better itself. From the smallest microbe at the bottom of natural order to mankind who God put at the head of everything in nature, nothing in life can make a progress unless it works in conjunction with something else to derive value for living. Humans designed the systems that aid social evolution. We installed the order of paired opposite into systems and locked their functionality to its arrangement. In democracy, a ruling side and an opposition side is a paired opposite and when functionally in orbit they can yield fruits of progress for society. We need the ruling party and opposition party to work together and improve society. The pair of Muslim/Christian in leadership is really a false pair because Islam and Christianity are same faith. Only practitioners of Spiritual beliefs have claims of marginalization and can demand redress. |
AyosMan:When responding on a political hotpoint such as religion and ethno divides you should frame your points with a background, whether historical, political or socio-cultural. Yoruba are in good stand, no shaking, and your observation is not far from the truth. What you omitted to mention is that from a political and historical background Yoruba is the only ethnic group in Nigeria that have mastered the disciplines of opposition politics. As a ruling class we have been there and seen the other side of what it means to be in opposition and we are equipped beyond any other ethnic to play roles in both sides of the equation. We are not threatened by loss of power or loss of opposition, unlike many of you other ethnics in South afraid to be in opposition government. In fact your 4yrs from 2015 to 2019 was spent opposing Yoruba instead of opposing government. You went into 2019 election behind Atiku and with determination to defeat Yoruba as a reprisal for Jonathan loss. Yoruba is not Nigeria abeg. You have lost, accept your loss and get in opposition with the government in center. Yoruba owe you zero allegiance! |
oilPUSSY:Nice input. On what statute of law are you basing your argument? |
lawman88:Kwankwaso was defeated by Tinubu in APC primary in 2014. Kwankwaso was defeated by Atiku in PDP primary in 2018. He came fourth. How do you see Kwankwaso winning Kano and then jumping to defeat Tinubu in 2023? Doesnt he have to win PDP primary first? Atiku is there, Saraki wants it, Tambuwal wants it too. I cant understand how some of you an analyze politics as if the brain is starved. |
We have overwhelming majority even if we want to amend the constitution. This is key |
pointblank247:The bold caught my eye. The Igbo problem in Nigeria cannot be solved with migration spread, it cannot be solved with containers sitting at the port, it cannot be solved by ownership of properties, it cannot be solved by wealth.....the single instrument you need for solution is political and you dismiss as irrelevant to your ambition. The political holes you leave unfilled will be occupied by the ones holding you captive. Have you ever thought on the possibility that the permissive environment that sustains your successes in economy and migration could indeed be the design to distract your political capacity? I noticed others care less if a million of you resettle in their land and own half the land, it does not bother them if you own all the markets but the moment you express interest in politics they let all hell loose on your population. It looks like you are just where they want you...locked out of political power! Give me your thoughts. |
Opexzy:I agree and like your intelligent clarification on the subject. Im curious about the bolded. Define sovereingty in the sense you presented and fitted it in here. |
The developers of those destroyed structures are in deep sh1t! Everlasting debt! |
Atiku has always lost. So this defeat is not a loss to him but a confirmation. He should not have been inserted in the list. Tinubu has never lost, he continues to win and that's a confirmation. He should not have been in the list. Saraki is a self-destructive loser; has never lost a political battle but he lost everything now. He lost the PDP campaign to opposition, he lost his own Senatorial incumbency to opposition, he lost the governorship sponsorship and that of another Senator to opposition, he also lost significant seats in Kwara House of Assembly to opposition. Ajimobi is a foolish looser. He beat the myth of single term and is on record as only governor to successfully complete two terms in Oyo. He was a Senator, went to government house for two terms, his plan to return to Senate was defeated. He lost all his sponsored candidates and the state to opposition. He had all the ducks lined up in a row for him to become a political jagaban and help steer Oyo into a renaissance of political leadership in Yorubaland....particularly in the candidature of his surrogate, Adelabu, but he instead brought out his shotgun and shot each duck and threw them away. When he needed fat to feed on, no duck was alive to save him. Very foolish politician. Ibikunle Amosun is a wise but scorned loser. He served two terms. As the Executive of the State with highest IGR behind Lagos State, Amosun is in a class above ordinary governors in the remaining 34 states; they are below par to Ogun State in economic successes and political value. Amosun knew this and uses the special class to trade privilege with Aso Rock. His profession as an accountant paid off here....but he is not as politically cunning as the master fox that now Chairs APC, nor as adept in stealth as the intriguing serpent of Bourdillon, and what he thought he knew came later to bite him. Oshiomohle and Tinubu have both succeeded and forced Buhari to concede political power to the party. This means the President remains the only person with power of policy...but all power of politics belongs to APC. Wise Amosun made the President his public friend but declared VP Osinbajo, Oshiomohle and Tinubu as his public enemies. He then floated a strategy to support his friend win election but work against his enemy by supporting their opposition at State level. Anyway, wise Amosun told others to defect but he refused to defect from APC and contested and won on its platform. So he is going to Senate. All the candidates he told to defect lost their contest to APC. Amosun lost the state and the party structure to opponents but wisely saved his own neck from drowning. Wise politician...a fox in the making. Lagos Elders are sorry losers. No other State in this country compares or can match Lagos economically, politically, socially, culturally or productively. In fact Lagos is a competition for Nigeria, its own sovereign parent. The Elders of Lagos should be Elders to the whole country and by that I dont mean diversity in their cultural composition but rather that they should be beyond reproach. They disqualified a governor and disrupted his focus of service to the citizenry on the grounds he does not pick when they call him and when they leave message he does not call back. When there is disputes between two or more parties our legal luminaries opine that the first tier of support is mediation. In mediation conflict troubleshooting and resolution specialists are able to offer a midcourse agreeable to the sides and get a peace deal; what at first appeared irreconciliable differences often end in reconciliated outcomes. Lagos has had a mediation council as far back as mid 1700s. I wouldnt go into that history since its not relevant. So I ask, did Lagos Elders take their grievance before the Oba Council and sought intervention of our traditional rulers or did they circumvent customs and took this decision on their own whims? They were lucky...very lucky that Ambode was a humble and nice Omoluabi and was willing to concede to their authority, otherwise Lagos Elders may have risked everything with that whimsical decision and brought loss severe loss to APC in Lagos. I hope our Elders in Lagos reconcile their authority with customary principles. |
GuntersChain:If at this time in national politics you are still latching on to Jonathan loss your psyche was deeply scarred when his loss was still fresh and the phrase " time heals everything" may not apply to you. |
nairavsdollars:They revere the Emirs but when an Emir offend they let him know and sometimes they will depose a rebellious Emir. These are not Kano people rejecting the Emir, this is just supporters of the ruling party. Be mindful to digest information when you read. |
I was hoping someone would notice and mention the obvious but I dint see any response to the fact that the traditional ruler's picture is mounted side by side that of rulers of constitution. This goes to show the reverence and value the traditional ruler have over the people and the importance of his position in society. I will speak just for my own ethnic. Does any Yoruba here know if our Obas are mounted on walls as icons alongside state governors? |
kelvinginzie:Does the process only apply in some states but not others? |
May his soul rest in peace! |
CapoDTuttiCapi:Thanks bro, I appreciate the feedback. When we are prescribed medicine we are also given the dos and donts, or the permissible and non-permissible. Its very important to know and avoid the non-permissible. "Doctor said I must not swallow three pills, but I want to see who will catch me if I go against his instruction and swallow these three pills". There is no need testing the limits, it does no one any good. |
helinues:Its simple! 1. 99 parties were contesting for Presidential and many voters were unsure who to vote, plus many more felt dissapointed with both APC and PDP at center and either voteda third option or abstained completely. 2. Whether we like it or not APC has succeeded in bringing us a new awareness in this country, that is politics is a local affair. With this new knowledge we witness how an all APC governed SW region demonstrated what local politics truly mean....in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo and even Osun. So what we see in Sokoto and Kano are exact outcomes of what APC demonstrated is possible and gave to us in SW. The question now is if the rest of the country will follow SW and NW example and begin to reward and return good governance and penalize and kick out poor performers. The lesson is, even if the center is mediocre and worthless, the grassroot must be dynamic and efficient. 3. INEC is the best it has ever been. The issue of security and violence and thuggery are not INEC jurisdiction. INEC officials performed impressively and we should applaud them. In fact we ought to hope and pray that future elections will be carried out at this level or better. Out of 10 Id score INEC of 2019 at a 8 or 8.5. Security dropped the ball! Out of 10 security will score 2. They dissapointed all over. We have been doing this for exactly 20yrs now, 1999 to 2019. By now our security ought to have best practices for deterring violence and a firm resolve at enforcing law. Election is a civic duty and internal exercise. It is job of police and interior Minister to manage. FG brought out Army because it did not have faith in police and interior ministry to safeguard INEC personnel and voting materials from vandals. Yet we still had incidences with Army in attendance. So imagine what the case would have been if Army was absent. This aspect of the exercise need to go to NASS for thorough review and a better policy implemented. Perharps INEC should have its own police force specifically for the duty of securing polling units and its procedures while the regular civil police force will be designated to ensuring public safety at polling units and on the streets generally. |
mushystuff:To us an Oba is a spiritual and divine title. He is the accessory between the living and the deities and is why an Oba is called Igba'keji Orisa. An Oba must perform certain sacred rituals to the four corners of the earth, to the celestial forces and the terrestrial forces. These rituals are not possible for them in Sokoto, in Kano, in Umuahia, in Enugu. An Oba can ask that Gelede come out, or Egun come out or that Oro come out in Yorubaland. These are impossible in non-Yoruba domains. The land in Sokoto has not been sancretized as a Yorubaland therefore if an Egun comes out it has no effect. So the people themselves know and have been told repeatedly that Yoruba will recognize a position such as Leader of Yoruba in Sokoto, Leader of Yoruba in Enugu, but no Oba outside Yorubaland....or a land over which sacred rituals have been performed and re-baptized as Yorubaland...will be recognized. This man in Sokoto know this but they try to be like Ibos and gather together and call themselves Oba. Unacceptable. Even Ooni does not recognize them when he visits around Nigeria. |
JewelryJules555:Yes there are, we call them Ashewo room. |
kidap:Is he an Emir, or an Etsu? Emir and Etsu are not the same. Which one is he? |
NobleAngell:Reason why there are 10,000 pvcs collected, 7,000 accredited but only 5 show up to vote. |
Congrats to Tambuwal and PDP |
Ashinner:Ohanaeze has declared many times that PDP will never win in Lagos. They know why and they admit any party the Elders belong in that party owns Lagos. Agbaje only come out to serve as a parallel candidate, not to win election. Have you heard him say anything since 23rd? How about the chairman, have you heard pemm from Bode George? Lagos politics na paddi paddi. If all the Elders endorse PDP tomorrow Agbaje will win. The Elders own Lagos. |
odeebee: ![]() Ive been saying this for so long...watch out guys...anytime something is cooking in another part of Nigeria and you constantly see Tinubu name featured, it means there is something else happening in Lagos you dont need to know about. It happens everytime! Tinubu has a curveball he throws out and predictably people latch on and get distracted from Lagos politics. Theyve been shouting we dont want Tinubu in Sokoto, Kano is not Lagos, Benue say no to Tinubu presence, Rivers tell Tinubu to remain in his domain. Meanwhile people are not aware Tinubu is in Lagos raking victory for APC. I want to be one of Tinubu's protege. If he has a school i want to enrol and take classes. ![]() |
hisexcellency34: ![]() I think we need a tv character called Tinubu. Whoever owns the show will make good bucks. |
peacettw:What we are seeing is a pattern, as you mentioned with Metuh, but spread across different areas of social relations. I believe SE has boxed itself in, psychologically and politically, as a victim of social injustice. Moreso, SE fears Yorubas more than it fears Hausa/Fulani. Ibos love Abuja which is North, but there is nothing in North that SE considers indispensable. If Abuja disappears today Ibo will survive. They cannot say the same about Lagos. If Lagos disappears situation in SE and amongst Ibos will be worse than the case of Somalia with many villages ruled by different warlords and no central authority or social order. On the flip side SE has zero benefit or desire for Yorubas. The success or failure of Ibo is immaterial to a Yoruba. Therefore the wsh, desire and ambition of every Ibo is to own and have in their posession what belongs to Yoruba. This imbalance in national equity and social arrangement is a deep pain for the Ibo and he expresses his pain outwardly by showing frustration , working and wishing for Yoruba to fail in everything. If Yoruba fails maybe Ibo can get the upper hand. Since Yoruba is not failing they devised another method, which is to herald Ibo successes far above and beyond its merit hoping no one else in Yorubaland can match that level. This spirit of victimization and the race to surpass Yoruba is what makes people like the OP rush to find news of Ibo success to show the rest of us that Ibo is doing better than Yoruba. In doing so they embellish and exagerrate far beyond the truth. They dont mind to find an Hausa/Fulani thats better than Ibo...they hate it when its Yoruba, which almost everytime is the result. I wish I had a way beforehand, I would have advised the OP to hold off on this ad for Ikpeazu and not shame the brilliant lawyer unecessarily when Supreme Court announces final judgement. |
Chukazu:These guys are quick to jump the gun and only to regrettably complain that people hate them. If I were making this thread I would save Ikpeazu brilliance for later on, that is after he wins in appeal court and in Supreme Court. Only then will I write this kind of credence to his name. Anything before that is risky. What the OP wrote here is too high pedestal for Ikpeazu at this stage and we only hope he wins the next two stages of the battle, otherwise it will be a very dissapointing failure and another regrettable and bitter complain of how Nigeria hates Igbo. The OPs submission has been copied for revisit after final decision at Supreme Court. |
