Politics › Re: Why Is Buhari Supporters Complaining About Atiku Missing The Debate? by MetaPhysical: 8:33am On Jan 20, 2019
HIGHESTPOPORI:
The question is why is Buhari running away from debate?
The target of debate is THE PEOPLE!

The primary goal of the candidates is to convince voters why he/she is the best candidate to get the job done. There are multiple ways you can reach to electorate with your message....debate is one of them. Another one is campaign at local level. Campaign at local level give clearer definition and feeling to your purpose and make people to cling to you and your cause. Buhari has been going from locality to locality and cmpaigning and convincing.

Buhari is not running away from the people, Atiku is by spending his campaigntimes abroad in Dubai, London, USA.

Absolutely

They were hoping to make him the focus instead of the current occupant of the presidency.
Buhari is incumbent ruler, he does not even have to campaign to win election. He should just send out his designates to do campaign for him and he will win....without showing face to grassroot. That's how much power resides in that office.

ATIKU wants to displace the incumbent ruler, he should be the one in Buhari position out on campaign train and winning hearts. He has his work cut out for him....he has to work triple the effort to remove the incumbent.

Instead of travelling and criss-crossing Nigeria he is going to Dubai, going to London, going to Washington DC. …..he is abandoning opportunity to speak to electorate and win hearts because Buhari did not show up. grin grin

Buhari is doing something ATIKU is not doing....mingling with grassroots. grin grin
Politics › Re: What Is Wrong With SE/SS Regional Support For Atikuobi?? by MetaPhysical: 8:09am On Jan 20, 2019
WisdomFlakes:
I am observing a worrying trend in both regions in respect of the upcoming presidential elections. Why aren't we seeing solidarity rallies in support of Atiku/Obi in both the SE/SS, as we have been seeing in the North and SW for Buhari/Osinbajo? I feel the PDP SE governors and political establishment are not doing enough nor showing enough enthusiasm towards the ATikuObi ticket and this I find very worrying. What is going on out there?
Those in SE/SS who would troop out for Atiku can already see the handwriting on the wall.

When you promise to sell NNPC to private investors you threaten the livelihood of the nation. When private owners take over all guarantees of security and commitments will be open to review and renegotiation. The deals will be favorable to the private investors, not Delta....which means more militancy in SS. The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces will be forced to intervene and protect private holdings he sold. He must meet force with force. This will open SS for its own insurgency and generate need for arms race - Defense-Industry.

If SS turn to a hot bed, SE will be impacted.

Moreover, how do you restructure Nigeria if you plan on selling NNPC? There is conflict of interest. Atiku is so HYPER-DESPERATE for power that he uncontrollably spills out what ought to remain close to his chest. grin grin

If buhari don't come then Atiku shouldn't, the incoming president don't need to debate with motivational speakers that can't even win their polling unit.

Durotoye won the pact election

Moghalu lost

And the woman was the referee but they are all greedy for power they can't even work together.

If you think Atiku lost a single followers or supporters you are insanely stupid.

Infact his supporters only increases.

First pic was yesterday

Second pic is today
APC had told the nation weeks ago that they do not intend for Buhari to attend debate. There have been severalpress statements and each time the issue come up they maintain their position that Buhari will not debate. Town Hall last week is a good hint on that. Even Saraki told the country that Buhari will not attend debate.

Is there a part of these many memos that Atiku missed? Its even worse position for him because Saraki himself was foolishly present waiting for Buhari arrival.
Politics › Re: Atiku’s Withdrawal From The Debate Is A Tactical Masterstroke! - Farooq Kperogi by MetaPhysical: 7:48am On Jan 20, 2019
Ratello:
Atiku’s Withdrawal from the Debate is a Tactical Masterstroke

By Farooq Kperogi

I’ve read commentaries that aver that Atiku’s decision to bail out of Saturday’s presidential debate in protest against Buhari’s decision not to participate in it was a tactical error. I disagree. Here is why.
The presidential debate is designed to be a match--or, if you like, a push and pull-- between the defending champion, i.e., Buhari, and contenders to the title he holds, i.e., Atiku, Moghalu, Madam Oby, Sowore, and others. If the defending champion declines to thrown his hat into the ring, the entire match becomes pointlessly self-injurious to the challengers. In other words, it would have been a fatal strategic and tactical error for Atiku to partake in a potentially bruising contest with other challengers while the defending championing sits pretty somewhere unhurt.
I’ve read other people suggest that Atiku, being Buhari’s closest challenger, should have used the opportunity of the debate to sell himself to Nigerians. Well, that’s what #NgTheCandidates town hall chat is there for. You don’t sell your agenda by making yourself vulnerable to potentially deathly blows from other challengers who don’t hold the title you are fighting for.
Instead of pillorying Atiku for not taking part in the debate, we should question the other candidates for agreeing to participate in a meaningless dueling match with each other when the defending champion who holds the crown they want to grab chose to run away. Their performance in the debate would only be meaningful if it’s measured against the performance of the defending champion.
From a tactical point of view, I also don’t blame Buhari for refusing to show up for the debate. His mental and physical infirmities are now on full display and would be exposed even more in the unscripted, back-and-forth format of a debate. The cabal that minds him already deeply regrets allowing him to take part in Thursday's town-hall chat because his cringe-worthy performance at the event dramatized his dementia and aggrandized his unfitness for the job of president. His campaign trail mishaps aren't helping, either. Another bruise from a debate would seal his fate before Election Day.
In a tragic irony, Buhari and Atiku are less qualified for the presidency than all the other contenders are, yet it is either of them that will emerge president in February. That’s why both candidates are more guarded and strategic in their choices than the rest.
I am surprised this came from Kperogi and not Dele Momodu or Omokri.

every ethnic nation knows what their attires and designs are called and named.

MetaPhysical is right..

Again there is no tribe called edo, they are called bini. the 'tribes' living in the state called edo are ethnic nations and not 'tribes' and they all have their ethnic designs and clothes.

How PDP would survive FeBuhari is still a mystery to me bro.
This is the last viable election for PDP. After this one the ruling party intends to help PDP disappear from political prominence permanently. We have a new set of promising parties led by young promising professionals that will be at par with APC in its journey forward to cleanse the bureaucracy of rot. PDP is a nest that needs to dry and shrivel up.

Let's go back to the premise

"Even if they did not...." Is a statement that puts your earlier assertion which was stated so categorically as a FACT that they "all had their foundation in Yoruba cult" into a Limbo. Meaning you are not EVEN sure of your earlier assertion if they really had their foundation in Yoruba cults if you can still be thinking otherwise.

Thats my understanding sir since the first statement is a controversial one which gives a room to state that THEY DID NOT.
Judaism, Christianity, Islam came out of Yoruba cults, Yoruba sacredness should be acknowledged. For those who do not share in the belief, a simple greeting of goodwill should suffice on days Yoruba celebrates its cullts.

Do you see any conflict in the above? But it is exactly same construction as before.

Ogboni is not EDO. If it was we would find it equally in all sub-cultures you claim falsely to have settled. Ogboni is foreign to EDOland. If you dispute give us a structure of Ogboni in relation to Ogiso, the rulers before Oba dynasty.

Europeans did not seek EDO, you had nothing to offer the world. They sought Benin, a foreign ruling dynasty over you. Beside, once Europeans discovered the source of Benin art to be IFE, their interest and focus shifted.

Poverty is a bastard. People who have not traveled out of the country before, by their comments, you shall know them. Do you know the roles that embassies play? What is my business with Nigerian embassy in any country I travel to when I do not have any problem with my passport or with the host country? Or is it our embassy that is now issuing visa or a go between for me and the country that I visit. Kai! Who do una this thing? Your suffering under this regime has made you lose every sense of reasoning. The Nigerian embassy in the United States has no business with Atiku's visit because their help is not needed. The ambassador should be preparing his handover notes.
This is not true.
Nigerian Embassies around the world have two broad functions. 1) diplomatic; 2) consular.
Namadi Sambo can travel to US today just to go vacation. The diplomatic function will not provide him protocol but he can request and get consular services. Because he is a past VP, these services can include stay at guest house maintained by the Embassy, with staffs available to him 24x7. Atiku has same privilege but may choose to use a different lodging arrangement. However, because of his status protocol officers would have alerted the Embassy ahead of his arrival. If that did not happen this time they need to be warned never to take such risks again in future.

I can't vote for him but I wish him well. God forbid if anything happen to him while in Washington. He becomes US govt property for that brief moment and once they positively identify him they will not release him to Saraki. They will call Nigerian Embassy to claim him. Protocol is there for a reason, Atiku should use it.

Oba was adopted by Benin not Yoruba cuz as far as am concerned ever Yoruba king answers to oba from Nigeria to modern day Benin republic. Oba is simply a Yoruba word for king u lot word for king is Ogie. As many times has the discussion has come up on the ties between Yoruba and Edo, I have kept my mouth shut from saying much. In fact I have intervened on many occasions to steer my Yoruba brothers away. They warned me that Edo needs to be silenced otherwise they will keep regurgitating their lies and cement it forcefully as truth. I do believe that time has come to put EDO in its place.

I am willing to open a new thread if it will do well to educate on the link between Edo and IFE, Edo and YORUBA,Edo and Benin. I will share a few pointers here just for now. Anyone willing to engage me should speak up so we can take this to a thread dedicated just for the revelations.

The earliest record of EDO history is with Ogisos. The Ogisos themselves were proxy rulers who drew authority from a foreign power on the throne of NOK civilization in ILE IFE. Ask EDO to share their beginning pre-Ogiso period. They have no record past Ogiso. The Ogiso period is dated. So what happened with EDO before that date? They were uncivilized forest dwellers who survived by gathering fruits and hunting small games. They were not city builders. They have never created a indigeneous State Ruler. Their uncivilization was washed off by influence from NOK in the age preceeding arrival of ODUDUWA in ILE IFE. When explorers of NOK discovered EDO they had nothing of garment whatsoever. Ask EDo to share its indigeneous garment if it had one. In fact the RED color garment was introduced to them by NOK, it came from IFE.

There are many things to say but I want EDO to start answering these questions:

Have you ever developed indigeneous STATE Rulers, and what was it called, what was the civilization called and what was its legacy?
Have you ever developed indigeneous garment and weave styles? What is it called?
What is your ethnic sacred color?
Have you ever developed indigenous cults, what are their names?
Have you ever indigeneously built cities and urban dwellings?
Have you ever indigeneously developed art and influenced other ethnic groups with your arts? Name the ethnic your art influenced.

Like I said, anyone is free to throw up a challenge. EDO is nothing, IFE civilized your beginnings, it continues to do so as we speak with its dynasty n Bini.

ChangeIsCostant:
Colonel Emmanuel Nwobosi, one of the army majors that planned the first 1966 Military coup in Nigeria, has fully opened up on the issue 53 years after. The 80-year-old former soldier spoke on the coup in a broadcast made on January 15th, from Israel where the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) currently is.

Below is the text of the broadcast.

Dear Biafrans and Progressive Nigerians. I welcome you to this historic January 15th broadcast on behalf of all those who carried out the Januarv 15 Revolution in 1966. I bring to you a message of Truth and Freedom for It is only the truth that can set us free from the bondages of War and Propaganda, which we confuse as history.

My name is Colonel Emmanuel Nwobosi I am 80 years old, It is time to be bold, I am too old to lie. I am not afraid to die. It is time to tell you why, we had to try.

I am the last of the original coup planners of January 15, 1966 with Major Kaduna Nzeogwu. I knew Nzeogwu well. We went to school together. We trained at Sandhurst Military Academy, UK. We lived together. Nzeogwu was our first Head of Military Intelligence and uncovered terrible plans to wreak havoc across the country. We organised a group of progressive military officers to carry out a coup on 15th January, 1966 to stop a Jihad and bring sanity to a Nigeria steeped in nepotism, corruption and mass murders. The Government of Tafawa Balewa, controlled by the Premier of Northern Nigeria, Ahmadu Bello, were using us in the army to repress the Middle Belt and Western Nigeria. Houses and cars were burnt. Thousands were killed. All these happened between 1962-66.

There were nine of us that planned the January 15 Revolution: Majors Nzeogwu, Anuforo, Ifeajuna, Ademoyega, Chukwuka, Okafor, Onwuategwu, Obienu and myself. However, four of us started it. Major Ifeajuna and Major Ademoyega in the South; and Major Nzeogwu and myself in the North. We then united as a single revolution. I am the last of the four original revolutionaries. None published the complete truth. Only me, Colonel Nwobosi, is alive today, to tell the Final Truth, so that the lies will not triumph forever.

They used us to repress the Middle-belt and the Yorubas. When we saw genocide, we began to disobey orders and swore to stop them. For instance, Major Anuforo refused to release mass murderers caught with weapons, and was court martialled. He was replaced by Major Hassan Katsina, a Northern Muslim, willing to act. I was in Abeokuta but refused to repress Yorubas, instead I opened our barracks as a safe place for them to run to. They told many lies about the January 15 boys, to justify their genocide, but it is those of us that planned the revolution that they should have killed, not the three million innocent Biafrans that knew nothing.

For years I kept quiet, blaming myself and wondering whether at 27, I was too radical that my actions led to the deaths of millions. Today, the same evil in 1966 is being unleashed. As I watch, my sense of guilt has vanished, because we were not the evil. We were trying to stop the evil. That Evil is Radical Islamism. I have decided to speak out and warn the world of the impending disaster if we do not stop it.

Each time Radical Muslims plan a Jihad, in their religious mission to conquer the world, they will fail, but in the attempt, thousands and even millions will die. That happened to us in Biafra. At this point let me differentiate between peaceful, law-abiding Muslims and Radical Muslims who want to kill others to force their religion on them. The problem is that wherever peaceful Muslims are, there are some Radical Muslims amongst them. That is why they began a Jihad in 1966. That is why we had to stop it. That is why they killed millions of our people. That is why we declared Biafra, because we are a peaceful people and oil and water can never mix.

My story is a warning to Nigerians. For years, I was prevented from speaking the truth by exile, prison, harassment, poverty, surveillance and death threats held over many of the actors like Ojukwu, Zik, Awolowo, Ibiam and the January 15 boys that survived. But as I watch today, many of the events that led to our revolution are happening again: Boko Haram, Fulani Militia, Niger Delta Militants, Shiites, IPOB and mass murders.

Some people think we acted wrongly in carrying out the January 15 revolution, but they may not be fully aware of the realities then. We were trained by the British to be patriotic, to give the ultimate sacrifice for Nigerian and to stop anyone acting against the nation.

Instead of our leaders using us to defend Nigeria they were using us to suppress citizens. We, decided to arrest them for their atrocities because no one was willing to act. Not Zik, the President, who was powerless, not Ironsi, the Head of the Army, who was a conservative. There were many reasons why we had to act:

1. To stop the killings in Yoruba land and the Middle Belt by NPC the ruling Party;

2. To stop the invasion of Yorubaland on 17th January, 1966;

3. To correct the massive rigging of the 1964 elections;

4. To free Awolowo from Prison and make him the Prime Minister;

5. To stop the terrible corruption, nepotism and regionalism of the NPC, the Ruling Party;

6. To stop Ahmadu Bello’s planned Jihad.

It was good that we acted to save the Yoruba and the Middle Belt people, and we thought that was enough to stop the Jihad. We could not foresee that they would massively attack innocent Igbos. Blame those who decided to massacre our people for their evil. Today we are fighting Buhari. He is killing Shiite Muslims and IPOB members. With the benefit of hind-sight we can see other ways of dealing with such evil, but for us in 1966, we just wanted to save the people from massacre.

I wish to congratulate Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB for the good work they are doing to free our people from Nigeria and Radical Islamism.

Many of our people do not understand how vast IPOB is, as an organisation and the quality of the people that run it. On arrival in Israel, I started meeting high quality professionals and I was amazed. I don't know how IPOB united power professionals abroad, power traders at home and ordinary people from market women to even riff raff all under one IPOB family, with world-wide Radio and Television.

Every Igbo and Biafran should be proud of them. They are the strongest force we have today to achieve freedom for all Nigerians. No wonder they can take on the Nigerian Government and win. However, it is money that makes things work. I shall donate 10% of all the profits of my new book to IPOB. It is my tithe to freedom. Tithing is God’s tax to raise money for the government of the children of God. I urge you all to regularly do the same so we can have the resources to achieve our objectives.

On this day of 15th January, 2019, the anniversary of our Revolution, I want to hand over to Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, the baton of the January 15 boys, so you can complete the revolution we started. I am the Ogene Obosi, a Chief and elder of the Obosi people. I bring to you the blessings of the Ancients. I fought for Biafra; I was wounded for Biafra and I shall die for Biafra. Iseeee.

We carried out the coup and partially succeeded. We went to Kirikiri Prison with Nzeogwu and other coup planners, where we shared our stories some of which were recorded by Major Ademoyega and Captain Ben Gbulie in their books. I fought with Nzeogwu who died at the Nsukka Sector. I mourned my leader and friend. I also knew Ojukwu well. I was his Chief of Operations in the Biafra War. We went into exile together. On our return he made me his ADC. I put it all in my book, 1966: THE DARK TRUTH.

Watch the video of the broadcast below.

He was a military man, and so were his co-coupists. There is chain of command in military. Ogundipe was the most senior in rank, and a Yoruba. Ademulegun was the commander in Kaduna. Why did they not follow military code of ethics and report the corrupt civilians that were planning Jihad on MB and Yoruba, to the military heirarchy...or go direct to Ademulegun? Afterall Nzeogwu was a family friend of the Ademuleguns. Nwaobosi must be sick, filthy old creep. Idyot!

Atiku vows to reduce federal government work force if elected

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has vowed to reduce the work force of the Federal Government if elected President on 16 February 2019.

Atiku said he will reduce the federal government’s staff force drastically as part of his plans to restructure Nigeria if voted into office. This however is in complete contrast with previous campaign promises of creating jobs for Nigerians.

Atiku made the vow in Lagos at a conference themed: Getting Nigeria’s Economy Working: A Pragmatic Approach.

Atiku who is contesting alongside Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra state had previously promised to create 10 million jobs a year.

“I will reduce the size of the federal government completely. I support restructuring and we will liberalize several sectors of the economy,” he said on his Twitter account using the hashtag #AtikuMeetsBusinessCommunity.

“I don’t believe in giving people jobs which they don’t know how to do. I cannot hire anybody I cannot learn from,” he added, clearly insinuating that he does not have plans for unskilled or semi-skilled workers.

Atiku also stated that his companies employ between 40,000 to 50,000 workers, a far reduction from the claim that he had previously made that he has over 100,000 workers in his various companies.

On social media, Nigerians are reacting strongly albeit differently to the conflicting promises of Atiku who served as Vice President for eight years during the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999-2007.
Hyper-desperation to get Presidency is driving Atiku nuts! He needs help!

He bloated his employed workforce initially, he has now reduced it by half. We still contest the new figure and we make claim that he does not have that many employees under his payroll. He is a habitual liar.

More revealing, he is saying one thing to his supporters, got in front of business owners and sing a different tune. He wants to reduce the size of civil service "completely". Where will the reduced workforce get a replacement job and income, in Atiku's companies? grin

He's meeting with those who will not vote while osibanjo are meeting with the real voters in kosofe and nyanya.
People that are crafting Atiku's campaign strategy are smart academically and if this campaign was about telling the world that we have scholars in Nigeria I think they would score high. Unfortunately the task and the challenge ahead for Atiku is first to unseat a political giant, but he is yet to put forth a convincing political strategy on how he would defeat the incumbent ruler. He is busy with his team formulating what to do after winning, they have neglected the steps towards winning. Stakeholders are therefore not convinced of an Atiku win and are reluctant to abandon Buhari.

In APC on the other hand Osinbajo has been going from one market to the other and in the face of the electorate that will go to polls 30 days from today. Ministers have been rolling out their scorecards and showing their capacity to do in three years what wasn't possible in sixteen. The party leadership has secured its strongholds and even made inroads and created a swing effect in PDP strongholds.

Atiku has also made numerous attempts to appeal to foreign nations and media and position APC and Buhari as a bad and ineffective option for partnership. The truth of the matter is foreign nations are more interested in a peaceful Africa. There is nothing in their partnership with Buhari in past 4years that was worrisome or carries risks looking into the future. Indeed Buhari has even become a stabilizing force. Bokoharam is seen as a domestic problem. Every country in the world has its shares of domestic problems, Nigeria is no exception. When Gambia came close to erupting into war, Tinubu was one of those that stepped in and put a solution in place and got Jammeh out. When Mugabe in Zimbabwe was overthrown Buhari got involved to propose a smooth transition. The foreign governments Atiku has been soliciting have tons of issues in their own territory, region and at home, the last problem they want is an unstable Africa.

Trump may not have a pleasant thing to say about Buhari, but CIA will override any attempt from him to disrupt Nigeria from the way it is currently. Change in leadership with a new set of untested and over ambitious plans from a hyper-desperate politician with poor records is not in their interest and they will shut it down. UK will need an expanding partnership to quickly exert dominance after BREXIT. An open West African regional market will do that. Two harbours, an airport and a refinery are in the works for Lagos. They will want a strenghtened oil market, not one mortgaged; so Atiku's promise to sell off NNPC to private interests is anti-British. How many national assets sold off in past have a success story? None!

No one should look at this business meeting as anything truly meaningful. Atiku loves show and tell in front of cameras. You see he even put a White lady to moderate a Business meeting with Nigerians. Are there no Nigerian lady that can do that? grin

PDP candidates in SW will go through the motions to have reasons to spend campaign money, but politically they are bought into what APC is doing in SW and do not, themselves, want it displaced.

I am just tired of all this political noise . Imagine less than 6 weeks to the election and nobody is campaigning.

More like we( Nigerians) have no choise.

Well wetin concerned me.
We have choice. I do not want Nigeria to end up being a one-party state because that is not good for social evolution. When monopoly is left to fester it will kill off competition...and thats when people do not have choice.

You are correct on attitude and I do agree with you that there is no tempo and drama, a necessary recipe to elicit spirit and chivalry. At heart, human is tribal, we must belong in opposites and dramatize our innate energies, otherwise we are bored and disengaged.

Two swings in an election cycle.
1 - if its over dramatized, it will turn people off and result in low voter turn out.
2 -if its under dramatized it becomes uninteresting, looses value and results in low voter turn out.

INEC needs to engage political scientists to study and recommend a third but median of the two above that gives the right attitude and freakness to keep people wanting more and troop out.

“Now, Tinubu sensing that the governor is unhappy with him just came and howled at him like a bulldog and Ambode just cowered without even a fight. That is very surprising to me. He behaved like a man who does not have conviction. I expected that with the resources at his disposal and the power of incumbency he enjoys, he will be able to fight for what he believed is right”.
This is a Doctor's statement? A face off between a howling bulldog and a cowered prey in possession of biscuit bone surprised the doctor. Wow!
I hope this guy is not a member of Nigerian Medical Association.
