[68:5] Al-Qalam-الْقَلَم "فَسَتُبۡصِرُ وَ یُبۡصِرُوۡنَ ۙ﴿۵﴾ Soon you will see and they (too) will see, [68:6] Al-Qalam-الْقَلَم "بِاَىیِّکُمُ الۡمَفۡتُوۡنُ ﴿۶﴾ As to which of you is mad. [68:7] Al-Qalam-الْقَلَم "اِنَّ رَبَّکَ ہُوَ اَعۡلَمُ بِمَنۡ ضَلَّ عَنۡ سَبِیۡلِہٖ ۪ وَ ہُوَ اَعۡلَمُ بِالۡمُہۡتَدِیۡنَ ﴿۷﴾ Surely, your Lord knows him best who has strayed from the straight path and (also) knows best those who are rightly guided. [68:8] Al-Qalam-الْقَلَم "فَلَا تُطِعِ الۡمُکَذِّبِیۡنَ ﴿۸﴾ So do not agree with what the beliers say. (SLA) |

[39:72] Al-Zumar-الزُّمَر "قِیۡلَ ادۡخُلُوۡۤا اَبۡوَابَ جَہَنَّمَ خٰلِدِیۡنَ فِیۡہَا ۚ فَبِئۡسَ مَثۡوَی الۡمُتَکَبِّرِیۡنَ ﴿۷۲﴾ It will be said to them: ‘Enter the gates of Hell. He is the One Who has revealed to you (this) Book with truth. (It) confirms (all those Books) that were revealed before it. And He is the One Who has revealed the Torah and the Injil (the Gospel). [3:4] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان "مِنۡ قَبۡلُ ہُدًی لِّلنَّاسِ وَ اَنۡزَلَ الۡفُرۡقَانَ ۬ؕ اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا بِاٰیٰتِ اللّٰہِ لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ شَدِیۡدٌ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ عَزِیۡزٌ ذُو انۡتِقَامٍ ﴿۴﴾ (As the Books were revealed) before this to guide the people, He has (now, in like manner,) revealed (the Qur’an,) the criterion to distinguish right from wrong. Verily, those who deny Allah’s Revelations, for them is rigorous punishment. And Allah is Almighty, the Lord of Retribution. [3:5] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان "اِنَّ اللّٰہَ لَا یَخۡفٰی عَلَیۡہِ شَیۡءٌ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ وَ لَا فِی السَّمَآءِ ؕ﴿۵﴾ Surely, nothing is hidden from Allah in the earth or in the heaven. [3:6] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان "ہُوَ الَّذِیۡ یُصَوِّرُکُمۡ فِی الۡاَرۡحَامِ کَیۡفَ یَشَآءُ ؕ لَاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ہُوَ الۡعَزِیۡزُ الۡحَکِیۡمُ ﴿۶﴾ He is the One Who shapes your forms the way He wills in the wombs (of mothers). None is worthy of worship but He. He is Almighty, All-Wise. [3:7] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان "ہُوَ الَّذِیۡۤ اَنۡزَلَ عَلَیۡکَ الۡکِتٰبَ مِنۡہُ اٰیٰتٌ مُّحۡکَمٰتٌ ہُنَّ اُمُّ الۡکِتٰبِ وَ اُخَرُ مُتَشٰبِہٰتٌ ؕ فَاَمَّا الَّذِیۡنَ فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِہِمۡ زَیۡغٌ فَیَتَّبِعُوۡنَ مَا تَشَابَہَ مِنۡہُ ابۡتِغَآءَ الۡفِتۡنَۃِ وَ ابۡتِغَآءَ تَاۡوِیۡلِہٖ ۚ وَ مَا یَعۡلَمُ تَاۡوِیۡلَہٗۤ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ ۘؔ وَ الرّٰسِخُوۡنَ فِی الۡعِلۡمِ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اٰمَنَّا بِہٖ ۙ کُلٌّ مِّنۡ عِنۡدِ رَبِّنَا ۚ وَ مَا یَذَّکَّرُ اِلَّاۤ اُولُوا الۡاَلۡبَابِ ﴿۷﴾ He is the One Who has revealed to you the Book comprising some firm and solid Verses (i.e., literally clear and precise in meaning); they are the foundation of (the commandments) of the Book. And other Verses are figurative (i.e., containing abstract and allusive meaning). So, those who have deviation in their hearts follow only its figurative Verses (just) under the urge to create disruption and with the motive to supply them self-seeking interpretation instead of their true interpretation. But none knows its true interpretation apart from Allah. And those who are perfectly firm in knowledge say: ‘We believe in it. The whole (Book) has been revealed by our Lord.’ And direction and guidance is the share of only those who possess wisdom and insight. (SLA) |

And he who denies Allah’s revelations, then surely Allah hastens in calling to account. |

[2:255] Al-Baqarah-الْبَقَرَة "اَللّٰہُ لَاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ہُوَۚ اَلۡحَیُّ الۡقَیُّوۡمُ ۬ۚ لَا تَاۡخُذُہٗ سِنَۃٌ وَّ لَا نَوۡمٌ ؕ لَہٗ مَا فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ مَا فِی الۡاَرۡضِ ؕ مَنۡ ذَا الَّذِیۡ یَشۡفَعُ عِنۡدَہٗۤ اِلَّا بِاِذۡنِہٖ ؕ یَعۡلَمُ مَا بَیۡنَ اَیۡدِیۡہِمۡ وَ مَا خَلۡفَہُمۡ ۚ وَ لَا یُحِیۡطُوۡنَ بِشَیۡءٍ مِّنۡ عِلۡمِہٖۤ اِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ ۚ وَسِعَ کُرۡسِیُّہُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضَ ۚ وَ لَا یَـُٔوۡدُہٗ حِفۡظُہُمَا ۚ وَ ہُوَ الۡعَلِیُّ الۡعَظِیۡمُ ﴿۲۵۵﴾ Allah! None is worthy of worship but He, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, the One Who sustains and protects (the entire universe with His strategy). He is seized by neither slumber nor sleep. Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth belongs to Him alone. Who can dare intercede with Him except by His permission? (He) knows all that is (happening or has happened) before the Creation, and all that is (about to happen) after them; and they cannot encompass anything of His knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne (of Empire and Power and Authority) encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the protection of both (the earth and the heavens) does not pose Him any difficulty. And He alone is Most High, Most Great. |

[2:162] Al-Baqarah-الْبَقَرَة "خٰلِدِیۡنَ فِیۡہَا ۚ لَا یُخَفَّفُ عَنۡہُمُ الۡعَذَابُ وَ لَا ہُمۡ یُنۡظَرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۶۲﴾ They shall be (held) under this (curse) forever. Their punishment shall not be mitigated. Nor shall they be given respite. (SLA) |

[56:11] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "اُولٰٓئِکَ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَ ﴿ۚ۱۱﴾ It is they who will be the ones drawn near (to Allah). [56:12] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "فِیۡ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِیۡمِ ﴿۱۲﴾ (They will live) in the Gardens of Bliss. [56:13] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "ثُلَّۃٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۳﴾ A large group (of those drawn near) will be from the earlier people. [56:14] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "وَ قَلِیۡلٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِیۡنَ ﴿ؕ۱۴﴾ And a small number (amongst them) will be from the later generations. [56:15] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "عَلٰی سُرُرٍ مَّوۡضُوۡنَۃٍ ﴿ۙ۱۵﴾ (Those drawn near) will be on the thrones ornamented with gold, [56:16] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "مُّتَّکِـِٕیۡنَ عَلَیۡہَا مُتَقٰبِلِیۡنَ ﴿۱۶﴾ Reclining there on cushions, face to face. [56:17] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "یَطُوۡفُ عَلَیۡہِمۡ وِلۡدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۷﴾ The serving youths, rapt always in the same state of being, will go round them. [56:18] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "بِاَکۡوَابٍ وَّ اَبَارِیۡقَ ۬ۙ وَ کَاۡسٍ مِّنۡ مَّعِیۡنٍ ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾ (They will be attending) carrying bowls, ewers and cups filled with (transparent) drink of (nearness) from the free-flowing springs. [56:19] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "لَّا یُصَدَّعُوۡنَ عَنۡہَا وَ لَا یُنۡزِفُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۱۹﴾ By (drinking) this, they will have neither headache nor derangement of senses (and stupefaction). [56:20] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "وَ فَاکِہَۃٍ مِّمَّا یَتَخَیَّرُوۡنَ ﴿ۙ۲۰﴾ And (the servants of Paradise) will be (roaming about) with fruits which (the ones drawn near) will like, [56:21] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "وَ لَحۡمِ طَیۡرٍ مِّمَّا یَشۡتَہُوۡنَ ﴿ؕ۲۱﴾ And (there will be) bird-meat as well which they (the ones drawn near) will desire. [56:22] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "وَ حُوۡرٌ عِیۡنٌ ﴿ۙ۲۲﴾ And also (in their companionship will be) maidens with wide lovely eyes, [56:23] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "کَاَمۡثَالِ اللُّؤۡلُؤَ الۡمَکۡنُوۡنِ ﴿ۚ۲۳﴾ Like pearls kept hidden, well-guarded. [56:24] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا کَانُوۡا یَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ﴿۲۴﴾ (That) will be the reward of the (pious) works which they used to do. [56:25] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "لَا یَسۡمَعُوۡنَ فِیۡہَا لَغۡوًا وَّ لَا تَاۡثِیۡمًا ﴿ۙ۲۵﴾ There they will hear nothing absurd nor any word of sin, [56:26] Al-Wāqi‘ah-الْوَاقِعَة "اِلَّا قِیۡلًا سَلٰمًا سَلٰمًا ﴿۲۶﴾ But (these people of peace will hear) only one thing (from all sides  ‘Peace, Peace.’SADAQA LLAHU AZEEM. |

I was no longer comfortable in Maiduguri following the incident that happened? Can you narrate what happened? Early in January, 2020, my mother fell ill. So, my elder sister told me to bring her to Maiduguri for treatment. On our way to Maiduguri, along Damaturu road, we heard gunshots. The people who fired the shots came out with their faces covered and stopped us. Three of us in the vehicle were women. The armed men asked for our names and religion. Those of us who identified ourselves as Christians were separated and I was the only lady among them. After that, they collected all we had and told our driver to leave with my mother because they would take me away. What happened to the remaining passengers? They released them and told the driver to go without the three of us. I was the only lady among them. They order us into the bush. As we were walking, they asked me again if I am a Christian. They asked me whether I would deny my faith so that they would set me free. But I refused. They asked me if I wanted to be like Leah Sharibu and I said yes. So, they released the two other passengers who were Muslims. Did they tell you whether Leah Sharibu is alive or dead? They said she is alive. Did they tell you where she is? No. They said she was married to their commander. Were your abductors Boko Haram members? Some of them were Boko Haram members while some were a group of kidnappers operating from the bush and working with Boko Haram. The insurgents used to come to our location to ask the kidnappers the number of victims they had in their custody. They collected money from the kidnappers any time they came, and if the victim is a woman, they took her away. What did your abductors do next? They told me to choose between denying my faith so as to regain my freedom or they would call a Boko Haram member to take me to Sambisa forest. I wept and told them I would not deny my faith. I cried throughout that day because my mother was sick and didn’t know anywhere in Maiduguri. Did they demand a ransom from your family? They told me to give them the phone number of any of my guardians so that they would inform my family that I had been kidnapped. But I told them that my dad is late and I didn’t have anyone; it is my pastor that has been a father to me. Truly, my dad died when I was three years old. They collected my pastor’s number and told him that his daughter had been kidnapped. They told him that they had not concluded on whether they would kill me, give me away to the Boko Haram insurgents or collect a ransom. After calling the family of a victim, they remove the SIM card and discard it. When they saw that I was crying because I was worried about my mother’s whereabouts, they decided not to give me away to the Boko Haram insurgents. But they argued among themselves on this before reaching a conclusion to collect a ransom for my release. How much did they demand from your guardian? They demanded N5m. What did he say? He pleaded with them not to hurt me as he would look for the money and give it to them. He also pleaded with them to reduce the ransom to N2m and they agreed. The people who abducted me were over 50 in number. While I was there, some Boko Haram members came and told my abductors that they were not comfortable with my presence in the forest. They told the kidnappers to release me for a ransom or kill me because they didn’t like me and didn’t want to see my face. So, my abductors called me pastor and threatened to kill me after three days, if he didn’t bring the money. Was the ransom paid? The pastor tried his best, with the help of other Christians, to raise N1.5m. They told him to bring the N1.5m because they were under pressure from Boko Haram to either release me or kill me. They told the pastor how to deliver the money to them. They later dumped me somewhere and told me to find my way from there. How did you find your way home? When I got to a major road, I cried for help before I was assisted by some persons. How many days did you spend in captivity? I spent two weeks and some days. Were you maltreated by your abductors? I was beaten on the first day and I spent a week without eating. But they gave me water in the second week. I later fell ill and had pneumonia. Were you sexually assaulted? No. Were there other victims there with you? Yes. There was a policeman who was kidnapped and his wife was told to pay a ransom. When the wife brought the money, she came with her baby and her husband’s friend who had a gun. When the abductors realised that her husband’s friend had a gun, they killed the policeman, his wife, the baby and his friend. They were shot. Were they shot in your presence? I heard the gunshots. But they later showed me the corpses and warned that they might do the same thing to my pastor. There was also a lady who was swallowed by a python in the forest. How did that happen? The lady was trying to escape when she encountered the python. Did you see the python swallowing the lady? Yes. Did you recognise the language spoken by your abductors? They spoke Fulani and Kanuri but a little Hausa. Do you intend to return to Maiduguri? I do not know for now. – Culled from Punch. |
