What's your definition of a true Christian because reading the Bible is not naturally fun for a lot of Christians. It requires discipline and with time it later becomes interesting.

There's too much pollution in the entertainment industry nowadays. It's difficult to watch movies and other social media stuffs without being bombarded with the temptation to sin or just ingesting ungodly conversations. Christian movies are usually somehow and I don't know how people enjoy comedies where the name of God is being used in vain.

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. Much as I'll like to only pray and read the Bible in my free time, there's always a need to find something interesting to relax. I watch basketball but they don't play games everyday.

I just need suggestions on entertainments that a Christian can use to relax.

Muslims and Christians definitely don't worship the same God. Some church goers are not even worshipping God not to talk of Muslims.

The only way to God is to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, He is also God, He became man, lived on earth and died for our sins. You must also confess him as your Lord and Savior. Anybody that has not done that is not serving the same God with Christians.

Orthodox Churches follow rituals. There's usually little or no manifestation of God's power, which is also true for most Pentecostal churches anyway, if you ignore the jumping and shouting.

It's very difficult to find a spiritual church. Apart from the message of salvation and sin, most churches don't preach anything else. The members just get saved and stuck. No spiritual growth. May God help the church of God.

I guess it's wrong, since most of the so called hope is just deception and lies. The wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God. You can't help someone by you yourself committing sin.

Depression is hitting me hard

How can a person fight or defeat depression?

I know this may be the last thing you want to hear but I know a sure and lasting solution to your problem. I'm very confident about this solution because it has also helped. I was also depressed before. The solution is Jesus. And I can share with you how I got healed from depression. Reply if interested.

1. Nowhere in my post did I make any attempts to use scripture to counter scripture. Instead what I showed you there was all the commandments/decrees God gave regarding prayer. Not a single one of them suggests what you claim which is that those who doubt will not have what they ask for. And from examples right there in the Gospels, we see that even those who doubted, Jesus Christ provided answers to, so where does this idea that if you doubt, you won't receive truly come from? Notice that nowhere above do you find God declaring that prayers of those who mentally doubt Him will not be answered. Leading me to conclude that your understanding of what is written is to be questioned.

This is the mistake that a lot of believers make. You don't use scriptures to counter scriptures, you use scriptures to explain scriptures. All those scriptures you quoted go together with what I said.

In Matthew 7, the Bible said that everyone that asketh receiveth. But just a simple survey will show that a lot of Christians have asked God for things but they didn't get it physically. Does that mean that the Bible lied? Of course not. When you pray, you receive your answers spiritually first before you get it physically. If you doubt that you've received it spiritually then you won't get it physically. This is very deep, I'm just trying to explain it as simply as I can.

To be totally honest with you. I'll never support homosexuality even if it was best thing to ever happen to humans because of my religious beliefs. The Bible is totally against homosexuality forget about some weird churches conducting marriages for homosexuals. Many of them doubted, a famous one was Gideon, yet that didn't stop God from answering his many requests.

Also, God never said our doubts hinder Him from answering our prayers. We are speaking here of a God who said we are to pray in secret and in hiding, promising He will answer our secret requests- Matthew 6 vs 6 - 11. So where do you get this notion that speaking in tongues prevents doubt, and aids God jn answering our prayers?

By the way, praying with the help of the Spirit of God is not "praying in tongues" as the Spirit of God does not have need to communicate your thoughts to the Father in a language foreign to even you.

You don't understand. Praying in tongues is the Holy Spirit praying for you directly to God through your mouth but bypassing your mind. If you understand what you're saying it may actually hinder the prayer. Because you may start having doubts which will render the prayer ineffective. But, by not understanding what you're saying there's no room for doubt, which means there's a 100% chance of the Prayer being answered.

Whenevere you see praying in the Spirit in the Bible, it's referring to speaking in tongues.

Dude, I was also diagnosed with depression about 4 years ago (although I was depressed long before then) and was prescribed medications which helped.

If you haven't, get diagnosed by psychiatrist who will prescribe drugs for you to take daily. I don't know if the drugs will eventually cure the depression but it will help your mood and make you feel better.

There's a better way though. I'm totally free from depression, I threw all my drugs away and I've never been happier whereas, before, I couldn't be truly happy( not just laughing) without medication. You can reply if interested.

One of the things that should separate Christianity from any other religion is love, unfortunately, most Christians don't even love other Christians (except some of their church members) not to talk of unbelievers.

You're right though OP, corrections should be made out of love and not condemning to win arguments. I don't even like religious arguments with unbelievers because it limits Christianity. You have to ignore the element of faith and start trying to logically prove God, which is impossible because God is a Spirit. Just preaching the word of God is better.

I guess from the perspective of someone who doesn't know God, the world is getting better, but it is actually getting worse.

The world is now morally bankrupt. Things that you can only do in secret before are now done openly.

And, I don't think there's a research that has shown that people are more happy and fulfilled now than before. I think it's the exact opposite. A man with basic amenities had happiness and fulfilment before. But now, if he's not driving Benz, he won't be fulfilled, then after getting the Benz, he has to have a house in banana island, which he most likely will never get (or he gets at the cost of inner peace). God says instead revealed from the very beginning that He made man from the physical elements of this world in Genesis 2 vs 7. God went on to confirm this in Genesis 3 vs 19 - 22 where He further reveals that man was not created an immortal being from His creation. Jesus Christ also affirmed God's claim that man is born only from the physical elements of this world - John 3 vs 5 - 8 . So where does this idea that man is Immortal and a spirit at that, suggesting the creator a liar, come from ?

According to Jesus Christ, only those who are born-again are born of Spirit - John 3 vs 5 - 8 - which can then go on to live in either Heaven or Hell. So why the conclusion that man is spirit?

1. The Bible was written originally written in Hebrew and Greek. The King James Version is the closest direct translation because it doesn't try to explain the scriptures, it just translates it directly. Other versions try to give their own understanding of the words which can be wrong and are therefore less reliable.

2. Having a head knowledge of the Bible is different from having a revelational knowledge of the Word of God. The words in Bible only become the word of God, when you have a revelational knowledge of them. Speaking in tongues also helps with this, i can't fully explain how though. But you can simply ask God to reveal His word to you whenever you want to read the Bible. And meditate regularly on scriptures.

In Genesis 3 vs 19-22, God Himself clearly leads us to believing He did not create man with Immortal life to begin with. Jesus Christ affirmed this in John 5 vs 8 when He confirms that man is indeed born of the physical elements of this world which aren't Immortal. So why does your idea contradict God's?

Genesis was talking about man's physical body. But basically, man is a spirit, that has a soul and live in a body. Death as we know it is just the spirit seperating from the body. The spirit lives on in heaven or hell forever. John 5:8 has nothing to do with death.
