What sin(s) have I committed that would warrant God dying for me? That I steal, lie, kill, fornicate etc now means God will now go and die? I cannot believe in a God that can physically send his son to die for my sins but cannot physically speak to me himself or to the congregation of believers. I used to believe all that crap for so long but no more. Let me go to hell. And here's an explanation of what your Bible says regarding one man dying for the sin of another http://www.whatjewsbelieve.org/explanation1.html
See also this detailed explanation: http://jewsforjudaism.org/knowledge/articles/leviticus-1711/
God speaks to believers regularly through the Holy Spirit, but most times it's our flesh that hinders us from hearing Him.

The same common sense rules we apply to everything in life that makes our lives liveable are suspended when it comes to the God matter. If you judge the christian God by his own words, Bro, he fails. For example he says love your enemies and do good to those who treat you ill but him nko what does he do or proposes to do? Cast them his enemies into hell. Yeah so much for loving your enemies.
Dude God died for his enemies (including you and me). What other love do you want? God hates sin but he became sins for our sake.

Do you think what will take people to hell is committing sins (which God hates)? NO.

what will take people to hell is not believing in Jesus and rejecting this great sacrifice.

Oh the ignorance!!! sad The beginning part of 1Corinthians 10 is talking of how some of the Israelites lusted after evil things, were idolaters, fornicated and were slain by God in the wilderness. Paul wasn't saying not doing these things would save us (how could he contradict himself when salvation is by grace). He was saying they were pointers to how we ought to live as Christians. We who have been saved by grace have no business with such lives anymore as such things are opposed to the character and holiness of God. We are not to follow their ways or continue in sin else our salvation becomes questionable.

1 Corinthians 10:6-11
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

What does Paul mean by [u] Wherefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall
in vs 12? First It doesn't mean when we sin we lose our salvation. We can't lose something that is dependent on the grace of God. We were not granted salvation because we "stopped sinning" Salvation was given as a free gift with no conditions to be met by the sinner. Therefore he can't lose it on condition of sin.

Paul was saying let no man think he can't be tempted because he is in Christ. We are not beyond temptation and can still yield to our body of sin.

But here is the promise and assurance of the believer right in vs 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that yet may be able to bear it

The Christian's life rests upon the faithfulness and promises of God not his weak will and sinful flesh. And since God cannot fail, we are assured of our salvation.

Scripture should interpret itself.
"Sin no more" is the tone of the law, our school master that points us to the saviour. It tells us what to do and not do but has no power to make us righteous or "sin no more"

Its only Christ that has this power. Hence, Christ was leading the man to himself because if that man must "sin no more" he would need only Christ to do that

True! Those who do the will of the Father are those who believe in Christ not their righteous will or self And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day John 6:40.

Isn't this enough reason for anyone to give up on self righteousness and embrace Christ alone? Today you keep the law, tomorrow you break it. The one you failed to keep would void the ones you kept. We have 613 laws, and the only way to keep the law perfectly is to not break any one at any point of your lifetime. (The Law comes as a whole. You break one=You break all)

Therefore you have been asked to turn away from evil but you can't. You have no power to do that. Your Saviour and power is Christ

You got your doctrines wrong sir! You have the cart before the horse! smiley
Love you for this.

Which pastors do you listen to? (just curious)
Christianity EtcRe: Today I Quit Going To Church: It's All A Sham by michaelwestern(m): 12:36am On May 04, 2017
bizme:
It wasn't the Church service of today that made me decide.
It was rather several pieces of disappointment and dashed expectations that forced me to make up my mind today.

Following my conversion years ago, I had spent a substantial part of my youthful life in the service of God. No amount of discouragement from my Dad and peers would slow me down in the pursuit of the love and service of God my Father. At a point I had approached my parents that I was considering opting for pastoral school instead of University admission. I had at the time been offered an admission into one of the leading federal universities in the country. Eventually my dad's voice of reason prevailed and I went to University. In University, I lived and conducted myself as a man whose singular hope and passion was the pursuit of God, roving from villages to villages every week, preaching and pastoring village churches. Away from the demands of my studentship.

But in the real world, the popular promise that God always has my back has been no more than a sale's man's quip which is often far from the reality on ground. I have asked fellow Christians questions, but they have failed to provide me with answers that don't refer me back to the usual call to patience and perseverance. If I do not enjoy God's promises in the time of my youth, what then is the point? What is the point in repetitively making the same requests for years without answer from God?

I consulted widely, reading books and studying other peoples' experiences and I have come to this conclusion: that I am on my own in this world. That God probably finished His part when He created me; that the entirety of my fate and experience will hereafter depend on me and my societal factors. That all the praying and singing and clapping in the church are no more than a desperate attempt for most of us to believe in a God who has got no better job than bailing us out of our miseries...

Well, it has been years now and He hasn't bailed me out. My life, the experiences of it, has not been any better than that of those who have refused to acknowledge God or to serve Him. Henceforth, I'm going to turn my time and attention to more product things than church attendance. My woman isn't going to like this, but I feel like a fraud sitting there in Church today and refusing to say the prayers since all those I had said these past years don't seem to have been answered.

This is no feast for atheists. I don't have enough faith to be one. This is simply my step of courage to step outside profitless religion into personal effort to take my own matters into my own hands. And you don't have to agree with my conclusions, if you look at it carefully you will realize that I have no obligation to live my life based on others' experiences. Just mine.
Do you have the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues?

If yes, how many minutes do you spend speaking in tongues daily?

If no, then you started on a faulty foundation.

God has already blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places, all you have to do is use faith to apply them to yourself?

One of the reasons why christians find it hard to win souls is that they dont preach the gospel. Most christians dont even know the meaning of the gospel all they go about doing is preaching condemnation and scaring people with hell fire.

Stop trying to win souls by scaring people with
hell fire. The gospel is good news( direct
translation translation means "too good to be true
news" .

Jesus showed his love for humanity by dying for
the sins of the whole world. Jesus loved this
people you are scaring with hell fire enough to die
for their sins.

The gospel is that; Jesus Christ died for the sins of
the world while we were yet sinners. God is not
angry at sinners anymore, infact he loves them.
God has reconciled the world to himself through
Jesus Christ. We have been sent to preach the
ministry of reconciliation which is the good news.

Are unbelievers going to hell if they dont repent?
YES.

Is scaring people with hell fire the gospel( good
news).
NO.

Preach the GOSPEL not condemnation.
I give all thanks to God the father of our Lord Jesus Christ for bringing me back to the fold.

To add to this, the easiest way to win souls to Christ is to preach Christ through our actions and behaviour. The early disciples lived like Jesus which gave birth to the name Christian. Peace

I thank you all for your advice. By God's grace I believe that I will stop taking tramadol permanently.

After having another seizure I was forced to a rehab centre and the withdrawal symptoms have been minimal.

My advice for anybody trying to stop taking tramadol or any other additive drug is to go into a rehab centre. Thanks y'all.

Am not saying that I support him, but the question is: why didn't she tell us everybody she has ever had sex with, before and after the Pastor? Or is it only sex with pastors that is a sin? She should have confessed every sin she has ever committed to the media.

What can I say to convince you that creation of jobs, good economy management and a friendly environment for business to thrive is better than the meagre, peanut N5000 MONTHLY huh
I give up!
Both can be done. No government in this world can provide jobs for everyone and eradicate poverty totally. So don't think creating jobs and a good economy is something that can be done overnight, it will take time. But meanwhile help can be provided for the poor.

So there's nothing wrong in pursuing economic developments and also helping the poor. Both can be done together. The government has budgets for all those things already so they don't affect each other.

Christians are the most intolerant and the most insecured people on earth. Do such to them, they scream persecution. They're the worst set of hypocrite. Or should I say the religion is synonymous with hypocrisy... Nonsense religion.
You people are very funny, if it was a topic in support of Christianity you will be asking for proof but now you just accepted the story without any proof.

Where is the picture of the burnt shrine? All I can see from the pictures is that people brought out their idols to be burnt willingly.

You claim to be a former Christian but you believe that a Catholic priest will burn down another person's place of worship. How many Catholic priests have you seen that go about burning shrines?

If you want to attack Christianity at least do it appropriately, although that itself is a form of religion intolerance and it also makes you an hypocrite. Peace

please elaborate the seizure part of your story for education purpose.
how do u seize... is it the same as 'daku' in Yoruba ?
Daku is fainting and its different from seizures. I can't accurately describe mine because am not always conscious of what's going on. Its my elder sister that witnessed it that described it to me.

Basically, she said I first shouted, which is what brought my sister and mother to my room. Then I shook a little bit then became stiff and my eyes were rolling. I guess it was a very scary experience for them because when I became conscious on the way to the hospital, I was surrounded with quite a few number of people. She called our pastor and some other people, it was two full cars that took us to the hospital. They said they thought I was dying, so it must have been a very unpleasant sight.

This is part of the reasons why I've decided to stop taking tramadol. But its not easy to stop because of the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.

Are you also addicted to tramadol or any other drug?

Oh dear! I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Since you're addicted to it, it might be best to go to a rehab centre so that they help you come of it slowly. If you want to go at it alone, you'll have to reduce the amount you're taking over time so that the withdrawal symptoms are not as bad. If you take a whole 100g sachet right now, perhaps try cutting by half into 50g then slowly reduce to 40, 30, 20, 10, 5. Then you can do 5g every other day, 5g every three days, 5g every week and then none at all. Obviously you can miss some steps if you're fine without it after a certain point. I hope you beat this!
Thanks boss, I'll give it a try.

Op, am in the same situation with you. I started taking it 2 years ago but unlike you am actually grateful for been introduced to it, because it helped me then.

The problem is that I've started having seizures, so I've decided to stop but am deathly scared of the withdrawal symptoms. You won't believe that I've once succeded in abstaining for almost a week but the insomnia was unbearable so I just had to continue taking it.

Please let me know if you find a way to avoid the withdrawal symptoms. Thanks
