Why Okocha no go come near Victor Ikpeba?

What are the things used to choose best players without statistics?

Of course, Iwobi and Iheanacho are good players who are lucky to be given the chance to prove themselves and they didn't disappoint by making use of the opportunities given to them.

We can't say they are not good if they were not given the chance because we know they are good.

So, seating on the bench for now doesn't remove anything from his talent.

After all, 'it is better to train with the best players and best coach in the world' (in TheGoodJoe's voice) hahahaha! grin

Abi no bi so una take tell me before when I said Iheanacho na bench warmer at the early stage of last season while Dominic Solanke was playing regularly for Vitesse? grin

Now, the things he said then is coming back to hunt him. grin

I no dey forgot thinks but I will always make sure I have evidence to back my claims. grin

We know Iwobi position was due to the irregularities exhibited by our people. grin
nothing wey man no go hear. With the best coach? Conte is the best coach? With the best players? I thought you were talking about Chelsea since, oh wait you are, so who are the best players? You wanna compare? Costa to Aguero? Atleast Iheanacho is easily better than Bats-whatever who is actually higher in the pecking order than Solanke. De Bruyne to who? Hazard? Willian? De Bruyne got injured and the Man City train came to a complete halt, so if you think that Hazard is better at this point in time, then sorry. Or will you compare Stones and Otamendi and even Kompany to old man Ivanovic? Calamitous Cahil? Bunny Luiz? Who! If I play at Chelsea and I am in the 3rd choice then I am worth nothing. Which games will he play? None. I don't want to mention Arsenal because Ozil alone is better than all their midfield combined, when you add Sanchez alone that one na die.

Wait sef, this isn't making sense to me, what are we arguing? Solanke played in a far weaker league and played more minutes than Iheanacho yet he scored less goals, what are we still arguing? Ok, Gbolaham Salami has scored 15 goals in the Finland league, he is better than Solanke.

Bia Sir Forgiveness...... I am giving you one last chance to show how prolific Solanke was last season compared to Nacho.

I give you 12 hours to produce last season's stats showing that Nacho played more minutes than Solanke according to you plus their corresponding results (goals and if necessary, assists).

I AM SICK OF PEOPLE COMING HERE AND SPEWING TRASH ALL BECAUSE THEY HAVE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET...... YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A NOTICE. PRODUCE IT... OR I WILL.... AND IT WON'T BE FUNNY

Note: This is for saying my comment on Nacho having lesser minutes than Solanke was a fat lie

We will find out who the fat liar is..... Won't we?? grin **winks**
Nna eh, how can you even be arguing with someone who said that a third choice striker at Chelsea(Chelsea!!! With only one champions league and 5 league titles to their name) is better than a starter for Arsenal(no be Arsenal be the invincibles? Or was it Chelsea?). It is just like saying that Grandpa Mathieu is better than Kompany!. Wait sef, read that thing again slowly, isn't it better for me to be on loan at Watford, playing regularly than to sit on the Chelsea bench permanently? Boys be claiming elders over here

He can't keep up with what? Is it today Mikel started playing for us?

Can you tell us how regularly he has been playing all these years? Is it a space of 4 weeks of no game time that Mikel has not had?

The way you're approaching this matter, it's as if you just started following the National team this year.

Okay, tell us the regular players you want to replace Mikel with in 3 weeks.

Is a RB and a DM the same? Has Icon4s not said here that the position of defence is highly sensitive? You want to put Musa without senior team experience in club level against Mahrez and Feghouli them? You no go insult person wey talk this thing wey you talk here? Honestly, read your write-up again. E deserve insult, we suppose plank you sef
.

I doubt if you even understood my point at all. to answer your questions, Mikel has always played at least a game every two weeks for Chelsea, the problem was that he used to come in around the 80th minute mark but still. for me that was invaluable game time, now we are saying that he won't play at all! not even for ten minutes, I mean at all at all, that is a problem.

is Mikel going to start as our DMF for the game or as our CMF? I think it's the second option, so using your logic his position isn't sensitive or isn't that your point? I still don't get what you were trying to say there though. and again you have rubbished Musa just to prove your point, please leave Musa out of this

i know your dislike for him is legendary, hence, I can't agree with you.

Once again, never compare Mikel with Musa, that's an insult on Mikel's over 10 years playing career. A big insult you should be ashamed to even consider.

A player is doing brilliant for you, a tested and trusted player and you insult his effort by comparing him to an inexperienced child who plays a far more sensitive position. Honestly, some Nigerians and their sense of loyalty is disturbing, he has not put a foot wrong for us, yet, some of you can't wait to throw him out the window even though he's suffering because he put this country first.

There would be no questions of Mikel's regular playing time for club if he had not gone to Brazil, NONE. The man is suffering consequences of playing for a team that was for all intents and purposes, useless, before he injected some life in their defeated bones, and you ungrateful people have the nerve to try and throw him out on top of his suffering?

Haba! You should be ashamed to even say these words, how will anybody give his all for a country filled with people like you? Are you even worth it?
once again you neglected the main point there, I saying that of he does not train then he can't keep up the same intensity he showed against the zambians, simple and short. I am not comparing him to Musa obviously, I just meant that Muss went through the same type of issue and although he was naturally Rohr's preferred right back, he was not played because of lack of game time. anyways sorry, before you call me another name worse than the one you just did

RED-HOT OBASI CONTINUES SCORING RUN FOR AIK
By Shina Oludare
The 30-year-old forward kept up an impressive record of strikes with the Gnagets' win over Graham Potter’s men
Chinedu Obasi’s strike after 83 minute of AIK’s Swedish topflight encounter versus Oestersunds continued a remarkable record of goals for the Nigeria international.
Alexander Isak’s goal after 10 minutes gave Rikard Norling’s team the lead in the 10th minute as they led with a slim margin at half time.
And his goal seven minutes from full time guaranteed his team maximum points, though he was substituted in the closing seconds of the game by Eero Markkanen.
Obasi has now found the net in four successive games for the Friends Arena giants – with his recent the sixth of the season.
The victory takes AIK to second position with 53 points, seven short of leaders Malmoe FF with 70 points.
The Nigeria would be hoping to make it five goals at a bounce when his team travel to Gamla Ullevi, Gothenburg for a date with IFK Gothenburg on October 24.

in fact if you have ever played football in a tactical level, the first thing they teach you is that once your team is in position. the centre backs should at least be inside the opponents half and that the DMF should be be at the top of their own arc of the centre circle. watch that game again, Onazi didn't cross that spot except the once that he went to take a shot, He only started crossing it after Esiti came on for God's sake

HERS'S KANTE PERFORMING AS A B2B

The work Kante does in the middle of the pitch isn't quite as eye-catching, but when he does open up the throttle it's thrilling to watch. Here, again against Swansea, he picks the ball up in his own half and sees space to run into.

He has the pace and power to run through the middle of three players, the ball never out of control, and suddenly his team have overloaded Swansea on the counter-attack.

He reaches the Swansea box and offloads to Vardy, who turns and sets up Mahrez for his hat-trick.

Ranieri said shortly after joining Leciester that he realised he had inherited a group of quality players. "This player Kante, he was running so hard that I thought he must have a pack full of batteries hidden in his shorts," he said.

"He never stopped running in training. I tell him, 'One day, I’m going to see you cross the ball, and then finish the cross with a header yourself". He’s unbelievable."

This surge of energy to set up Leicester's third goal against Swansea came in the 68th minute of the game.

Kante also spends quite a lot of time out on the wing, helping to protect full-backs or after he noticing there's space out wide to be exploited.

Against Manchester City Kante drifted out into the wide area to help assist Mahrez's goal:

I was rating him based on his marking ability---he did a lot of dirty work for the team. Also, you must know Onazi has never been a great "ball player" but he makes it up with his work rate(tackling, marking and blocking). If he wasn't our best player in that day then who is. I would have said Omeruo but that blinder ruined it for him.
so if after marking the ball and successfully dispossessing your opponent, you give the ball straight back to him with a misplaced pass what's the point? If you can't put your marking abilities to good use then it's near worthless. Anyways, didn't you see Ekong's stats? Or maybe you don't think a goalkeeper can win the man of the match either?

I know people have been giving Mikel props for his performance against Zambia but after taking my time to study that match over again, I can't help to point out that Mikel was not at his best. He was lost in the first 30 minutes of the game and you can tell he is match rusty. Now,the question is if Mikel continues sitting on the bench which will affect his sharpness is he still going to be starting games for the Super Eagles. And if Mikel isn't there who will man AM position,Oghenekaro?

Of course, I know Rohr won't be starting Simon Moses in our next game and Ndidi will certainly not be starting from right back. Iwobi needs to be substituted soon as the clock says 65minutes and he needs to work more for the team---this is one area that Simon Moses did very well.

Ndidi's aerial ability is top notch but he is lacking in pace. Onazi was our best player on the field--hommie was everywhere and never got tired. Omeruo was outstanding except for the error that led to the goal. Ekong's maturity is not in question.

Echiejile was the weak link in the back and the Zambians slaughtered him like a cow-- it's a shame because he is oldest player in that defence but his confidence was up to no good. He has no pace and his marking ability was zero. And this makes me wonder how he is going to cope against the more faster and skillful Algerians. Rohr will need an extra man in the midfield.

Ideye, aside his running and over-all work rate didn't cut it for me,more so when he is supposed to be an experienced player.

The Zambian team we played was a very strong side, except that we took our chances early enough---I see this Zambian team giving Algeria and Cameroun a lot of trouble. They are no pushover-- Very under-rated.

The only thing to take from the match was HOPE. We didn't play so well but there is hope for improvement.
So because he was everywhere that makes him the best player? Chances created, Zero. Long passes completed, Zero, number of successful dribbles zero. Even his pass completion percentage was downright poor and you sadly think he was our best player because he was 'everywhere and never got tired'. The best DMF in the world (for me), Busquets is quite stationary but that's because that's where your DMF should be, sitting infront of your defence not running around like a headless chicken, that's ill discipline.

Omeruo and Ekong's combination was brilliant. It was simply a Puyol-Pique combination. Ekong was charged with winning the aerial balls and playing the ball out of defence and Omeruo did the dirty work, that combo was brilliant. I agree with everything else though

Looollll...... I get you okay. Just that Mikel is our midfield linchpin right now.

His replacement?? Truth is there's none truly. What we have are "manageables".

Mikel's true replacements are still young and maturing... The likes of Kelechi Nwakali and Ovie Ejaria, and a few others.

But I get you, the only way to play without Mikel is to play a style and formation that hides his absence.
if we have any assurance that Mikel will play the way he did against Zambia, then I'd be a fool to ask for his replacement. But the only assurance is if he plays for chelsea atleast 3 time to maintain his shape. But if he is sure to play thesame way then certainly he starts for me, you would have noticed that my main issues are Onazi and Echejile, never Mikel. In top form, Mikel is easily our most experienced midfielder and the arguably the best too, but that's if he is in form

Since the olympics Mikel has been walking on water. I don't care if he gets a second for chelsea to me he is still our captain and the only one capable of leading this youthfull setup that we have.
Yobo was our captain and leader yet he was benched, your point is?

Droppin mikel is something he can't try @all
why? Drogba was dropped by Cote D'Ivoire, even Kolo Toure so why can't he drop Mikel? If he drops Mikel and we win I will be happy, but if he drops Mikel and we lose I will blame myself BUT if he plays Mikel and we lose then I will blame, mark my words

i have to agree with mickael that the mikel onazi combo needs to be tweaked. two of them playing together as a double pivot hasn't really worked since our AFCON triumph in 2013. in most matches i watched involving them after the AFCON it was always a case of one of either of them being poor and the other having to cover their mess. onazi particularly after that tackle by matuidi in the world cup has not been great. for me he has lost a lot of that positioning ability. i don't mind an additional body joining them in midfield to make it more compact especially against stronger sides like algeria. ndidi or esiti can provide this. i remember reading the comments of a poster in one of those foreign football threads. he mentioned that his ideal midfield of three would include a passer, a runner and a marker/blocker. i think i share his thoughts. so for us this would be passer=mikel, runner=onazi, marker/blocker=esiti/ndidi. i feel this would give our midfield more balance. for example look at how our midfield calmed down with esiti's introduction against zambia. plus onazi was able to go further up the pitch to intercept passes.

look at how they might line out

esiti/ndidi
onazi mikel
v.moses iheanacho iwobi

good thing about this setup is depending on opponents we are facing and personnel available we can also go like this

esiti/ndidi/mikel
onazi iwobi

v.moses iheanacho success/musa/simon
now somebody is making sense, although I would go with Iwobi as a more ideal passer if Mikel doesn't get game time, then he came be subbed in later in the game when we need to overload our midfield. But all in all, I made mention of it, Onazi and Mikel only works when we have an extra body in the middle. Iheanacho cannot provide that extra body, his AMF style is different from that of Mba and Babatunde and we don't really need that if you ask me

The Passer-Marker/blocker-Runner Midfield triumvirate only works in a 4-3-3.

Will Rohr go with a 4-3-3 against Algeria??

I don't know. But He seems to just love the 4-2-3-1 from which he can easily switch to 4-5-1, 4-4-2, 4-3-3 (like seen against Zambia when Esiti came in and joined Mikel and Onazi), and even the "untested-under-rohr" 4-4-1-1.

Note: Keshi played 4-4-1-1 in a couple of games for Nigeria at Afcon 2013 and then some.

Let's keep watching Rohr... His formation against Africa's no.1 side AT HOME will reveal a lot.
what he said can still make sense in a 4-2-3-1. The 'marker' and the 'runner' will be positioned as the double pivot, obviously the runner will be the one who will move further up the pitch to intercept passes when the opponents are still in their half while also being able to come back and cover as the second DMF when we lose possession. The passer can be the person behind the striker which is still the AMF, while Iwobi and Moses will still occupy the flanks. Infact a passer, a marker and a runner can work in almost every formation except a rigid 4-2-4 formation, the only thing he did is that he replaced Ideye with Esiti unlike the like for like replacement i mentioned.

And if you consider this, it makes sense, somebody duly mentioned that when Onazi pushed forward he was able to intercept passes further up the pitch, something Mikel wasn't able to do for a long time, so let's play to Onazi's strength, he loves to run, let him cover more ground, once he intercepts the passes then Mikel(who is the passer) and any of the LMF or RMF(depending on the position of the play) can immediately come and take the ball from his feet, in this way he won't have to misplace too many long balls. It will get him into shooting positions too and maybe, just maybe he will injure Bentelab or whoever is their DMF like he injured Babatunde or better still, score a cracker. This works for me

If Mikel is out,it's either Iheanacho or Iwobi moving to CMF not Ogu or Igiebor.Mikel shoe is too big for d likes of Igiebor.
it will have to be Iwobi. I doubt if Iheanacho has even played as a CmF in his life
