blueto: If Uzoho was in the post against Argentina in the last world cup edition, I don't think Messi would have fared well against him like he performed against Enyeama. If you watch Messi's first goal in that game, he played the ball up to the roof of the net, why? because he knew fully well that Enyeama's short height wouldn't allow him to do well against up balls, and before Messi played the ball, Enyeama was looking to dive along the ground where he thrives, but Messi did not play to his expectations and strength.
Another player who understood and worked with this Enyeama's weakness was Diego Forlan of Uruguay. I remember how he scored the winning gaol against Enyeama in the Confederations cup. He played the same way Messi played his, by playing it straight to the roof of the net, and that might been how Messi discovered that the short Enyeama can't cope very well with such kind of shots.
Messi's second goal can also be attributed to same weakness. The short Enyeama couldn't see the freekick on time due to his shortness and it caused him a late reaction.
Yes, he may have made some great savings, but those goals he conceded wouldn't have been conceded by a tall Uzoho in goal. And it will unwise to start Enyeama against Argentina again (if he returns) with same Messi and other players who may have taken note of his weaknesses from that previous match. wow....just wow. So you sat down and thought about this before posting it? Or is it a joke? |

Kayode in the Chinese league will score more than Martins, Kelechi in the Austrian league will score more than Kayode, Ideye in the Isreali league will score more than Nwakaeme etc etc. The simple truth is that we do not know these things, we can only judge based on the present conditions and right now, Nwakaeme is scoring more than Ighalo and is in form more than he is |

Mujtahida: “The last challenge is to find a goalkeeper who satisfies us fully. We are working with my goalkeeping coach, Enrico Pionetti,” Rohr was quoted by French website Football365.fr.
Rohr says it's his last challenge, you say it's the least of our challenges. Ok oo. I rather take the words of the coach and my own assessment and that of many others who refuse to accept that the gk is the least of our problems than to go and play attacking football to shield a bad gk. You know your gk is bad but you are hoping that attacking football will save you when you still have the benefit of time to fix the problem. the funny thing is that he wants to play an attacking brand of football against the likes of Brazil and Spain, nothing more to say |

Mujtahida: I will also be happy if Enyeama returns because all over the media Rohr keeps talking about not having found a gk that satisfies him. He still said it again in the last interview posted here. However those who know Enyeama said Enyeama has said he is done with the SE. So if that is the case then we just have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We will have to settle for Uzoho, Akpeyi and Ezenwa and let the devil be damned. I just had to weigh in because team spirit is being set up as an ojuju Calabar to terrorise anybody that calls for Martins or Enyeama. Team spirit is delicate and must be protected at the same time we should not use it to scare discourse on the inclusion of certain players. At the end of the day we should remember that Rohr is a disciplinarian. All the players I have read say he's both a father and a father. I don't think he would spare anyone who wants to scuttle his plans. there are things we are missing here. First off, Rohr isn't a fool, he has heard what Peterside and the likes said but he still discusses Enyeama why? Second, Enyeama actually has issues with a lot of NFF guys, I am pretty sure Enyeama has not come out directly to say that he won't come back, it's all hear-say from? You guessed, the same NFF guys who he has problems with, while he has been keeping tabs with Rohr, the guy who he does not have a problem with and Rohr still is confident of getting him that's okay with me |

Enyeama is a good goalkeeper in doubt but he cant hold to ransom..

Uzoho was trained in aspire academy one of the best in Europe and immediately find himself in depotivo team b.. Keeping regularly every weekend ...its not a joke!

(This is no sentiment), stats support me. ok let me put it this way, between 2002-early 2013 we were not defensively strong right? And who was the constant defender there? Yobo. Many coaches tried many players, Apam, Adeleye, Shittu and so many others but we were still poor defensively then Keshi removed Yobo and since then we have been strong relatively, what does that tell you? |

A lot forget the same Yobo cost us 2006 WC ticket against Angola, the best of Yobo was 2001 -2006,from 2006 -2010 it was average Yobo 2010-2014 was using his past glory to make the team nothing more, that was the reason Keshi just have to benched him for Omeruo at Afcon 2013.
Truly one of the best defender to come out of Nigeria but not in the class of Keshi,Chidi Nwanu,Uche Okechukwu, Christian Chuckwu,Taribo West. I would never ever rate Yobo among our best defenders, Yobo exemplified a period of defensive frailities for the Eagles, he was never really outstanding(except as a fullback) and he continued playing because of sentiments |

He was a rugby kind of defender good for only African jam body kind of play. dude, this guy captained Millwall and Bolton(?), this guy was a fan's favourite at Blackpool and QPR, the guy is the record goalscorer(defender) for Blackpool and so many other things, Shittu was great EoD |

somehow: Better than yobo that was on a decline then, remember it was the period he got his nick name "calamity yobo" so using a declining yobo to rate shittu is really not a good yardstick for comparison.
During that period, we had defensive issues too so we needed any "average" to do it for us. I wouldn't rate Shittu as one of our best, not to talk of rating him among defenders like Taribo west haba. how can you even be saying this thing, Danny Shittu? I believe Omeruo is a good player, a fantastic one, when it comes to ball-playing he might just be better than Shittu but Shittu is way way better than him in everyother aspect, well not way way better but definetly better |

forgiveness: The reason Ahmed Musa was marked out against France at the WC was because they knew he was direct. Even Onyekuru was marked out in the second leg against PSG after they noticed he dribbles with pace.
What they did was to slowed him down by shielding him with two players and they always stayed static( they don't move) and closed him down slowly until he was forced to retreat and pass sideways.
From what I saw he is not suitable for such defensive formation because he hold unto ball and create nothing out of nothing.
He is best suited for rapid counter attack tactics.
In such situation, you need an attacking midfielder that can hold unto ball, drift into the midfield, dribble one on one in static situation and has good vision to set a true pass.
Iwobi, Mikel and Vicmo will be the perfect personnel for the Iceland match. If Sone Aluko is available, he is also best for this type of game.
I have seen Iceland played and I think they are very good at counter attack once the dispose the ball from their opponent.
If we have to win balls against Croatia, which two DMF do you want to use? France actually does not play like Iceland. Frankly if you play Onyekuru in a counter-attacking team he may not perform so well, he needs a game where he will get the ball time and time again so he can dribble which is his strongest assest, ofcourse you know players like Onyekuru will lose the ball 4times out of 10 atleast so he needs 10 passes per game for example to complete 4dribbles and it is in games that we have enough possession that he can get that and against Iceland we will have enough possession. VicMo, if he plays, will be running into traffic a lot because VicMo dribbles with pace, that is why he plays at wb for Chelsea where he will have enough space to beat his man. But if(IF) we play the 3-5-2 then the two forwards will not have space to run into and this is going to be a compact Iceland team. Putting in another midfielder was what Croatia did against them, Kovacic is a nice midfielder who can dribble but when he came in in the first leg he was largely inefficient because being a midfielder he would almost always have two players on him, but a striker can be in such an advanced position that nobody(bar his actual marker) would keep up with him hence my preference for an actual forward that can dribble IN TIGHT SPACES. Against Croatia we will need two things, first chase the ball like mad, then when we get it, move it straight away or shield it for a while to regain our composure. In that case we need one workhorse only and one guy who can shield and play quick passes, ofcourse if Joel Obi is there he fits perfectly with Ndidi(or Onazi because say na you ask me ooh) but otherwise I would bring Mikel back there |

how can someone who can't trap a ball at all...play this far?
you really need to work on your hate....ooo ok let me educate you because it seems you are lacking there. People have been complaining about his first touch, so what is first touch? That is the first touch you apply to a moving ball to get it under control, what does it mean to trap a ball? Trapping a ball means getting a ball under control. So people have been complaining about his first touch right(or ball control like you yourself just pointed out) and somehow when I say the same it becomes hate? TheGoodJoe: Coach, I will stone you salute if you sell Nacho. Honestly. It is not just about Nacho not playing regularly but Puel style does not give me excitement. Let see hat happens. But, if Nacho will leave Leicester City, my advice to him is to look for a club with a history of creating chances and also have a history of free flowing football.
If there is no chance for a sale, I say he seals a loan deal to Dortmund if he has secured his passport.
Dortmund is in need of a finisher. Playing as a sub to Aubameyang will work because in the limited time Nacho gets, he will have chances to score. Keep in mind the current boss of Dortmund, Bosz was the same manager who handled Traore at Ajax who is currently with Lyon. Will he go to Dortmund and start begging them? Or you think Dortmund will be looking for a player who cannot trap the ball effectively? Iheancho should have made the right move, Leicester city has exposed him, if he leaves now no top team will want him, it's Turkey from here |

Mujtahida: Omo, so blueto pass the scrutiny of your lab? Woowwwww. I dey enjoy una on this 3-5-2. You have taken it deeper. What if Mikel plays as a DM as you said and either one of Ndidi or Onazi sits on the bench that means Iwobi can slot into the AM and Iheanacho and any other attacker say Musa or Onyekuru can partner with him upfront but Onyekuru is still on the fringes of the team and has not had a game to show his quality. I will explain why I am trying to fit Onyekuru in and not Ahmed Musa or anybody else. There are teams you come up against and quick passes will not work, Iceland is a perfect example. You can stand infront of their backline and make 20 quick passes but those guys won't move until you come closer and you see that they will double up on each of your players what do you then do? You need quick dribblers. When you have a player who can just beat his immediate marker that creates room instantly and serious panic through the opposing teams rank(this is why I believe Iceland will be mincemeat for Argentina precisely). Now we don't have Messi but we have Onyekuru and Iwobi two guys who are nice(not great) dribblers and under normal circumstances we will place a CF who can pass the ball well and engage in your one-touch-two-go football, in that same way Onyekuru or Iwobi(depending on who is well-placed) can make those Alli-esque runs when the CF falls back and joins the passing triangles in the middle. Against Croatia though is another thing entirely. We will have to adopt a system similar to Barcelona 2015. These guys midfield will kill us if we engage them so here we sacrifice midfield play for outright direct football. Rakitic is a briliant DMF when he plays there and someone said Kovacic hardly plays for Madrid, well that is because he is out injured, he recently returned and has already played a game for them, pure quality, no need saying much about Modric. There is another problem too, their midfielders all have wonderful shots so they should not be allowed to even come so close to our post which is why I wouldn't play Onazi. In this type of game we need direct players, once we get the ball we should take a maximum of 3-4 touches and get the ball to the forward players without dwelling on midfield play |

blueto: I agree with the bolded, but as a right wing back. Like Mujtahida said, we saw how well Ebuehi performed as a RWB and if you ask me I would also say that Aina would perform better than that. So now we have two good RWBs but on the leftside we have Idowu(no need counting Echejile he just isn't it at all), Idowu for me is not close to the best we can parade and we have all seen VicMo play as a wingback in some of our games with Echejile(well not clearly a LWB but something similar to that) which is why I want to put him there, ofcourse at RWB he is better than Aina and Ebuehi but I'd trust him to do a better job for the team as a LWB |

blueto: He dazzled with all these attributes against African teams in Afcon, but how did he fare against world cup teams with quality defenses in 2014?
To unlock sturdy defenses, you need quick incisive exchange of passes like what we saw against Argentina, not the acts of holding the ball for long and making excessive dribbles. A good defense may keep such a player from scoring or causing major havoc.
We have friendlies coming up, so the coach should play him as a wing back in one of those games or more and lets really see how he will fare before the world cup proper. this is one of the most baffling things on this thread. They say that if VicMo is played as a wingback it reduces his influence on the team and I am wondering, if it reduces his own particular influence but increases the efficiency of the team as a whole then who cares? Granted we may not have a devastating winger aside VicMo but a player who has scored over 30goals in a calendar year(Onyekuru) isn't really Jozy Altidore, besides if we use a wingback system with VicMo it means we'd only need two attackers afterall, I would change Iheanacho with a more potent striker and push Mikel to Ogu's position and replace him there with Iwobi and free up Onyekuru in Iwobi's former position and that's that. I believe VicMo can offer a lot more than any other fullback of ours can offer playing as the left wingback and since we have capable replacements, it's a possibility we should explore. Barrister wetin you think? Cc Mujtahida |

CityJoe: I do not remember people saying the midfield of the Super Eagles is better than that of the Croatians. What I saw pointed out was that there are weaknesses in the midfield we can exploit. For instance, they do not have a natural defensive midfielder and also Rakitic and Modric are limited in speed. Which means our counterattacks can cause them problems.
I think this is a fair and balanced analysis. Not blind patriotism. Rakitic limited in speed? Damn damn damn |

We will not win the world cup with enyeama in goal anyways! I am not arguing Uzoho's potentials, the fact of the matter is that he is a good goalkeeper and not an outstanding one like Enyeama is(or was before he got injured). Good goalkeepers get better with time and experience, GK experience is not really on-the-field kinda experience, I mean you can only field one Gk at a time, it takes weeks of training to turn a good GK into an outstanding GK, all these late-bloomers were not first choice GK's before they got their shot and took it at an older age. Bottomline? Uzoho is good but nowhere near starter material for now, I'd rather make do with Ajiboye |

eazyjakes: There is nothing wrong with Francis Uzoho being the first choice if he performs better than the other goalkeepers in camp. He was brought into the fray due to the unconvincing performance of the other guys. Enyeama was only 20 and was still in enyimba when he made his debut against England at Korea/Japan 2002. So much fuss about the club they play for......match fitness, player quality and good team preparedness are better criteria for a solid performance than the clubside u play for....ask the Korean team of 2002 and the Costa Rican team of 2014! so because Enyeama did it at 20 then any random individual can? We are making a serious mistake here, this is Enyeama, VINCENT ENYEAMA you know that guy that told Oboabona that he would save the congolese spotkick and despite how well-placed the spotkick was he just plucked it out of the corner? Or have you forgotten the guy that saved 3 spotkicks in one match against Tunisia? Abi you have forgotten the guy that kept 17 clean sheets out of 38games for lowly Lille and conceded 1 goal 10 times, so in essence he only conceeded more than one goal in 11 games for a whole season! Even De Gea isn't close! Or thesame guy who kept out opposition attackers for close to 9,000 minutes of football? That last minute save from Dzeko's shot at the 2014 world cup would have been the save of the century if any European GK made that save. This guy, Enyeama is a legend, Enyimba? Legend. Israel? Legend. France? Legend! Africa? Pure unbiased legend!!! The simple truth is that if Enyeama's name was Joe Hart he would be the first choice for Barca, Madrid or Bayern. The only reason why people don't want him back is because of the captain armband, not everyone likes his smile and he isn't the most charming unlike the current captain |
