In Matthew 23:23 Jesus placed mercy above tithing. He endorsed tithing in that verse but he was addressing Jews who were still under the Old Covenant because he had not gone to the Cross to fulfill the law for all of his body of believers. The New Covenant begin when Jesus died on the Cross. act 13<39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. There were 613 Old Covenant laws in the Old Testament according to the Jews ,,,,,Most Church leaders have selected one of those laws to keep for the Church, The Tithe......however all 613 laws had to be kept perfectly. To break any one voided the entire contract. act 15> 10 Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the (new Gentiles believers) disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? Hebrew8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. Heb 7<28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever. Having said that .. Giving is an act of worship......we give the poor and needy as Jesus commanded cos we are happy and love Jesus .....We dont have to expect anything in return ..........the salvation he gave and blood he shed on the cross is enough for us. I like pastor that are ready to be corrected if they are in error.. the fact that he realised and repented...is good 2 Likes 1 Share |

Pastor Kumuyi doesn’t have a personal Bank Account It might interest you to know that the General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church does not have his own personal bank account. He is under the church budget, and likewise other full-time pastors. He feeding, dressing, logistics is budgeted monthly by the church. He has no personal property, investments, and all he has is owned by the church. Wow!.....I respect this man...while some pastors are busy setting up investment and acquiring properties for their kids . |

I agree with Deeper Life doesn’t sing and dance on Sundays because… If you have been wondering why the church service on Sundays doesn’t come with dancing and singing, the answer is simple. “It will weaken the body; make people fall asleep and tired when the real message about going to heaven is about being preached. We have a day to praise God for singing and praises, and that is during the Thursday revival service” Pastor W.F. Kumuyi explaining to BBC World. Finally, Laying of hands is not allowed in the Church I like to sing and dance ..but in some churches .....when pastors is preaching or praying ...and .... they keep jazzing it up with instruments ... it is so distracting and difficult to meditate.... I always end up singing the song instead of praying or listening. ... I dont like people laying hands on me ......in some churches the dickens lay hands of people .. u dont even know the kind of spirit in that person ......I can understand if their pastor does it. |

It is good to always study the bible before opening a church Some Christians think that God only works on the naming it and grabbing it principle. Some are even lazy and expecting miracle to happen. Some will tell you that Abrahams blessing is a means to material blessings ...and ..... make it look like Jesus’s atonement does not extends to the so called “sin” of material poverty... some Christians give in order to gain material compensation from God..... they make their self -generated faith a spiritual force that leads to prosperity and that Prayer is a tool to force God to grant prosperity. Jesus was contented in the little he had .. he was very hard working *preacher and carpenter* and always care for the poor .....yet we believe in him ..He did not have to prove anything to show us that God is rich... and as a believe he has to be rich .. He did not tell us that we have to give so we could be blessed materially..it is part of our christian duty to help the poor and needy to make heaven...and live the rest to God ... Live right b4 God ... 2 Likes |

HeyCorleone: U are right How many Pentecostal churches are like that?. Hard to find .. some feels if they are not wealth or poor it is cos they are not paying tithes...lets look at the life of Jesus Many believers want to get away from the fact that suffering is part and parcel of our calling as Christians. The disciple of Christ faced lot of challenges and lived uncomfortable lives .... wealth alone does not equal God’s blessing, and God’s blessing does not equal wealth alone ...some keep making material wealth a sign of God’s favour. If anyone was favoured by God, it was Jesus. But He lives a life of very little material wealth and then even ends up suffering on a cross Not being rich or well off doesn’t make you a failure > We saw that in the life of Jesus and we still believe him. God’s way is ‘little by little’ while the world’s way is “now!” phil 4.11 paul implies that wealth is not necessarily a sign of God’s blessing, but hardworking and contentment . Jesus rode on a borrowed donkey to Jerusalem.. Jesus never collected Tithes Yes God bless some believers with wealth to be used for His purposes. It is not something to be coveted, it is not a reward for obedience, and it is not something we should expect. There is nothing specifically wrong with being wealthy, but as Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21, To whom more is given, more is required. In fact, Jesus explained that wealth can discourage some from following Him. In Luke 18:18-30, the rich young ruler Jesus rather lived within His means, and that means wasn’t a lot, and He wasn’t embarrassed about it and certainly didn’t see this as tainting God’s testimony. Contentment , preaching and hardworking. He didn’t seem to have a lot of money at all and yet never seemed anxious about it and called them to join Him in this lifestyle. Jesus and his disciples all had jobs . He was a carpenter .. They all had a money purse kept by Judas ...John 12:6... Jesus was funded from donations, but he never asked for the donations or tithes Luke 8:3 and use the donation to feed the poor in their community . When they did nt have much savings .. they had ask around the crowd ..so they could feed the people . Jesus suggests that the disciples feed the five thousand and they mention that all the money they have is “…two hundred denarii Mark 6 Jesus paid tax to ceasar .Jesus did not invest in properties > Mark 1> He also hang out at Peter house *the married one * .. They were very tolerant > they were not offended when people broke his roof to lower the paralysed man. when Jesus wants to be generous, it seems he trusts God to provide him the opportunity to do so (the feeding of the five thousand and four thousand are examples). . He seems to do what we might think are “foolish” things and expects God to provide. He didn’t even sort out His death plans – a grave had to be donated to Him by Joseph of Arimathea, a rich disciple looking for kingdom of God. (Luke 23: 50-56 > " Jesus sent His disciples to minister and told them not to bother about money > mat10.9>12 Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, 10 no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. 11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. He ask them to go to people ..not that people shld come to them. Jesus asks His disciples if they lacked anything to do this > luk 22> 35 "and he said to them, “When I sent you out with no money bag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36 He said to them, “But now let the one who has a money bag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. .. learn to save . He did not ask us to tithe so we could have more blessings ... He asked us to be kind , giving and generous to the poor and needy ...part of criteria to make heaven. As long as a ministry is promoting the kingdom of God and helping the poor % needy as Jesus commanded... I will support in giving not tithing. 1 Like |

During the lifetime of Jesus, the holy temple in Jerusalem was the center of Jewish religious life. The temple was the place where animal sacrifices were carried out and worship according to the Law of Moses followed faithfully. Hebrews 9:1-9 tells us that in the temple a veil separated the Holy of Holies—the earthly dwelling place of God’s presence—from the rest of the temple where men dwelt. This signified that man was separated from God by sin (Isa 59 Only the high priest was permitted to pass beyond this veil once each year (Exo 30; Heb 9 to enter into God's presence for all of Israel and make atonement for their sins (Lev16) If you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.”John 5..,,,,Moses wrote about Christ.,Jesus came to fulfill all that was written in the Law and the Prophets. All of it was pointing to him “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.mat 5 What significance does this torn veil have for us today? the moment Jesus died 1.When Jesus died, the veil was torn, and God moved out of that place never again to dwell in a temple made with hands (Acts 17:24 the temple and Jerusalem were left “desolate luk 13<35 2, the veil was symbolic of Christ Himself as the only way to the Father (John 14:6). This is indicated by the fact that the high priest had to enter the Holy of Holies through the veil. no one comes to the Father but through Me. No middlemen. 3 The blood sacrifices ceased because Christ fulfilled all that they were pointing toward. He was the final sacrifice for sins.Heb 9 "He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.” 4 The physical temple has ceased to be the geographic center of worship. Now, Christ himself is the center of worship. He is the “temple” where we meet God. not Mecca, not Jerusalem. John 4:21, 23, true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. 5 John 2:19, 21, “‘Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.’ . . . Jesus was speaking about the temple of his body.” He died and rose up the third day. I cor 15. The people of God are no longer ethnic group or a nation-state. Eph 2<14Paul is speaking about how we Gentiles, who were called the uncircumcision , were separated from Chris (v. 12) but have now been brought near to God) by the blood of Christ (v. 13). United both Jew and Gentile into one group in Christ. Christ fulfilled the Law on our behalf and offers the power of the Holy Spirit..For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. All believer must abide by the law of Christ>Jesus exercises an authority to which men are expected to comply . .Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ (Gal. 6:2). Paul acknowledged that he was “under law to Christ” Love , righteousness must exceed pharisees , Giving and helping the poor and needy , praying, repentance, Evangelism, holiness , salvation, judging other without judging ourselves , submission to law of the spirit, consequences of sin and kingdom of heaven (1 Cor. 9:21). MAT 5> 20 The “law of the Spirit” is the same as the gospel, the new covenant system I personally believe all the rituals , tithing has stopped ..The same God who gave the Law also gave Jesus John 3:16. His grace was demonstrated through the Law by providing the sacrificial system to cover sin. Jesus was born “under the law” (Galatians 4:4) and became the final sacrifice to bring the Law to fulfilment and establish the New Covenant . Luke 22>20 "And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. |

@OP You said Nigerians are just stingy ... Does that include Muslims , atheist and Christians who do not pay or believe in paying tithes . Then you are wrong. One of the laws of Jesus is to feed , care and help the needy. Mat A lot of Muslims may not pay tithes but they give to poor and help the needy . Atheist do not believe in God but some do give to the poor and needy out of the goodness of their heart Some Christians do not believe in tithing .. buy you will be amazed at the rate at which they give and help the poor and needy in the society . Some even give more than the tithers. |

IMO > You are still born again. You are conscious and battling with some sins in your life ....causing you to backslide or think you are no longer born again...God created us in such a way that we can never be perfect ......praying and being steadfast in him will keep us going John said Yes u can sin 1 John 1> 8 *If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.*...........old habit dont t die in one day .... * 9 > * If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John said no u cannot sin 1John 3>9 No you cannot sin "Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. What is happening here is that John is saying that the one who is born again does not habitually abide in sin. He may fall into it, but he does not practice it as a lifestyle..try as much as possible tio keep away from that sin ..... The most intense part of the Battle is in our Minds....where Satan attacks the Fiercest.....which is why we need to daily put on the armor of God .. ... David Struggled with so many sins.... You would have expected God to take sin away from him .... Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked *to entice , seduce, persuade* David to number Israel.... fiery darts Satan throw at our minds....lustful thought , condemnation ,....followed by who will know ....what will it matter. |

When he replied someone that " He doesn t need Jesus , He have ALMIGHTY GOD." then I know there might be more to his story to the extent of him denying Jesus........something must have happened .. U know some pple loose their salvation ... after losing loved one or due to life challenges ..... Many run churches cos of problems .. excitement of being saved .. or forced by parents.... .....then get disapointed and frustrated by the treatment received from some of the members or leaders ..and then leave in anger .....but then the church cannot please everybody and u will always get that everywhere .......Our personal relationship with God is more important for us to develop our inner peace ....the church is body !people of Christ not even the denomination or building names .... If we do not agree with people we fellowship with or the leader I believe we can leave and still continue in the faith . Some churches will just let you go .. some dont even know you ..... other will keep making contact .. you may feel they are bothering you.... God is the solution to all problems ....... |

petra1: OK I agreee... but from parable of the sower and some part of the bible ...it also means the word of God , Jesus warns against giving alms ("giving to the needy" for the purpose of getting attention, as it is an act of worship to God.In Luke 11:41, Jesus tells the Pharisees that though they act in all the right ways, they don't "give alms" out of themselves. They may give money to the poor, but they don't give love, respect, and kindness. In Acts 3, when confronted with a lame beggar, Peter wasn't hindered by his lack of money. He said, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk! so we say that the Bible does allow that alms can be food , word of God, healing, and even justice and kindness. Dictionary meaning of almsgiving involves giving to others as an act of virtue, either materially or in the sense of providing capabilities (e.g. education) free, with no expectation of personal reimbursement. Meaning we dont give or sow because we want something from God or because a minister said so but from the abundance of our heart....freewill giving...donations.. to ministries ,,poor ,,needy etc ..anyway thank you |

There is certainly a need for presenting God’s word as a feeding to the body of Christ Isiah 55Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good. Let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come to me. Hear, and your soul will live.” Isiah 55 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For yas the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, And the snow from heaven, And returneth not thither, But watereth the earth, And maketh it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, But it shall accomplish that which I please, And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. 12 cFor ye shall go out with joy, And be led forth with peace: The mountains and the hills shall dbreak forth before you into singing, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. |

He did not say all pastors ..I think he meant con men parading themselves as pastors taking from the poor to enrich themselves ....some pastors are very honest and fear God. ##since Government has failed the poor due to corruption .. Most of these folks living in poverty or need help either run to the churches or mosques.. to seek God ... if the churches or mosque cut them off for the same reason? or start asking them to give from the little they have left ...Who is left to help? ...The government takes from them and Some con men parading themselves as men of God also takes from them ..... The fact is that the poor are always going to be with us, and we ought to love them and help them .....Mat 25...regardless of what the government did or not .....Didn’t Jesus heal ten lepers knowing that nine of them wouldn’t even say thanks you.. ##He fed the people when they were hungry. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven .....as the body of Christ we have to play our role in the society. It doesn't end in our churches.. |

Pastors will be sayin sow seed of faith to challenge God .,,... I read bible n found out that "seed" never refers to money,,,it refers to Gods word , ... the Bible likens the ministry to planting *preaching, watering "renewing ur spirit with his word and reaping1 cor 3 .6....Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” . A man reaps what he sows.” There are natural consequences to our action GAl 6.7 , Seed and harvest season ..working hard,, obedience to God and receiving blessing ,,, blessing on the fruit of your labour.. not being lazy and waiting 4 offerinng.or tithes ....Isaac farmer sowed and God blessed his harvest .,,,...Paul discusses the doctrine of the resurrection of the body, he uses the analogy of planting a seed to illustrate physical death...corin 15.., Your reward shld be in heaven and not on earth mark 10 |
