Immediate Past Deputy Speaker (ABHA) Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, Pens Open Letter To Governor Otti. Open Letter to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. Your Excellency, I begin by commending your sterling leadership and the tremendous progress Abia State has witnessed under your tenure. It is evident that you have dedicated yourself to making Abia a better place, and your administration has brought much-needed change and transformation. Your decision to continue with the unfinished projects of your predecessor is a mark of your commitment to progress, and I am confident that by God's grace, you will complete your tenure and leave Abia in a far better state than you met it. With utmost humility, I would like to bring to your attention a project I undertook during my time as the Honourable Member representing Ohafia South in the 7th Assembly of Abia State. This initiative, which was born out of necessity and foresight, resulted in the establishment of the Abia North Fire Service Station at Amaekpu Ohafia, Abia State. As you may be aware, at the time, Abia State had a Fire Service Station in Aba, representing the Abia South zone, and another in Umuahia, representing the Abia central zone. However, there was a significant gap when it came to Abia North, which had no such facility. Recognizing the importance of ensuring fire safety and emergency services in all parts of the state, I motioned for the establishment of a Fire Service Station in each of Abia’s three senatorial zones at the 7th Assembly, a motion which was later represented as a bill and passed into law. Despite the challenges, I could not wait for government intervention. I decided to take the initiative and used my own resources to begin the construction of the Fire Service Station. The station was built to meet all required standards, under the supervision of the Abia State Fire Service officers from Umuahia. It was officially commissioned by the then Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Ude Okochukwu PhD. After its commissioning, the station was handed over to the state government, officially making it part of the Abia State Fire Service network. This Fire Service Station is a vital project for the people of Abia North, especially in areas like Ohafia and Arochukwu,Bende and other Abia North local government. The distance between these areas and the nearest Fire Service Station often leads to significant damage before help arrives in the event of a fire. The station in Amaekpu Ohafia, which serves as a strategic point, will greatly reduce response times and save lives and property. Furthermore, Ohafia, being the third-largest city in the state, undeniably requires its own Fire Service Station for effective emergency management. I therefore humbly appeal to Your Excellency to prioritize making the Abia North Fire Service Station fully operational. This includes deploying qualified staff to the station, employing local youth from Ohafia and its environs to work there, and providing at least one fire truck to ensure the station’s functionality. Your prompt action in making this station operational will be a significant step in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people of Abia North, and will be a lasting legacy of your commitment to the welfare of your people. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your prompt and favorable response. Yours faithfully, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, LLB, Ph.D.

Orji Uzor Kalu’s Fight for Gender Equality: Empowering Women in Nigeria. -By Dr. Dominic Joshua. Orji Uzor Kalu has consistently championed women’s empowerment and gender equality, recognizing the crucial role women play in national development. From his time as governor of Abia State to his current role as a senator, Kalu has been an advocate for policies and initiatives that promote the rights and inclusion of women in governance, business, and education. Promoting Women in Governance One of Kalu’s most notable contributions to gender equality has been his consistent efforts to increase women’s participation in leadership roles. During his tenure as governor of Abia State, Kalu implemented policies that opened up more opportunities for women to hold key government positions. He actively promoted the appointment of women into leadership roles across various sectors of the state government, ensuring that women were part of critical decision-making processes. His administration saw women holding positions as commissioners, special advisers, and directors, which helped pave the way for greater female representation in governance. In his current role as a senator, Kalu has continued to push for gender-sensitive legislation that promotes equal representation of women in political offices. He has consistently supported bills aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of women in Nigerian politics, advocating for laws that promote gender parity in government appointments and electoral processes. His belief in the importance of women’s voices in governance has been a central theme in his political career. Empowering Women in Business Beyond governance, Orji Uzor Kalu has also made significant strides in supporting women’s participation in Nigeria’s business landscape. Understanding that economic empowerment is essential for gender equality, Kalu has worked to ensure that women have access to the resources, training, and support they need to succeed as entrepreneurs. Through his advocacy for SMEs, Kalu has supported policies that encourage women to start and grow their businesses. He has consistently emphasized the need for financial inclusion, particularly for women entrepreneurs who often face challenges in accessing capital and business networks. Kalu has been a vocal supporter of microfinance institutions and initiatives that provide funding to women-owned businesses. He has also advocated for vocational training programs that equip women with the skills needed to succeed in industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and technology. His efforts to create an enabling environment for female entrepreneurs have empowered countless women to contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth and break the cycle of poverty. Advancing Women’s Education Orji Uzor Kalu has long been a proponent of education as a tool for women’s empowerment. Throughout his career, he has championed initiatives that promote equal access to education for girls and women, believing that education is the foundation of gender equality. Kalu has supported numerous educational programs that aim to reduce the gender gap in literacy and improve educational outcomes for girls, particularly in rural areas where access to education is limited. As governor, Kalu launched initiatives to improve the infrastructure of schools and provide scholarships for female students. He also advocated for policies that encourage the enrollment of girls in school, helping to ensure that more young women have the opportunity to pursue higher education and contribute to national development. His ongoing advocacy for women’s education extends to his work as a senator, where he continues to push for reforms that prioritize education for all, with a focus on female empowerment. Supporting Women’s Rights and Social Justice Kalu’s dedication to gender equality is also reflected in his advocacy for women’s rights and social justice. He has been a strong voice in the fight against gender-based violence, supporting legislative measures that protect women from domestic violence, sexual harassment, and other forms of abuse. Kalu has called for stricter enforcement of laws that safeguard women’s rights and has championed initiatives that provide support services for survivors of gender-based violence. Additionally, Kalu has been an advocate for improving women’s access to healthcare, particularly maternal healthcare services. He has pushed for reforms that ensure women have access to quality healthcare, including reproductive health services, and has supported initiatives aimed at reducing maternal mortality rates in Nigeria. His commitment to women’s rights is rooted in his belief that a society that empowers women is one that can achieve true development. A Legacy of Women’s Empowerment Orji Uzor Kalu’s contributions to women’s empowerment and gender equality have had a lasting impact on Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape. His efforts to promote women in leadership, support female entrepreneurs, advance education, and protect women’s rights have empowered countless women across the country. Kalu’s belief in the potential of women to drive national development continues to shape his advocacy, ensuring that gender equality remains a central focus of his work as a leader. As Nigeria continues to work toward achieving gender parity, Kalu’s leadership in promoting women’s empowerment serves as a model for future generations of policymakers and leaders. His ongoing commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of women reflects his vision for a more inclusive and equitable Nigeria, where women play a central role in shaping the nation’s future.

FORMER CHIEF PRESS SECRETARY TO THE IMMEDIATE PAST GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE, ONYEBUCHI EMEMANKA SALUTES HON. IKWECHEGH'S GIANT LEGISLATIVE STRIDES. ONYE OCHA NA ABA! In the last couple of days, I noticed that mounting of street lights have been ongoing along Faulks Road. The solar powered street lights have even started working. They have passed my Umule junction by Faulks. In all honesty, I actually believed that it was the Abia State Government that was doing it until I confirmed that it was Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, ONYE OCHA NA ABA and Member representing Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency that is doing the work. I was happy. Onye Ocha na Aba is an Umule old boy. He grew up there. I can't remember if he was born in Umule but he spent his formative years there.. His dad, the Late Chief Mascot Ikwechegh was one of the prominent Umule landlords way back. The elder sisters of Alex are my friends and contemporaries. So I am not surprised that the work passed Umule junction by Faulks, irrespective of the fact that we are in a different Federal Constituency. Onye Ocha na Aba, my dear brother and friend, I salute you. You have done well. In things like this, party affiliation becomes immaterial. The lights shine on all of us, irrespective of party. Jisike. We are happy and grateful. Ururu Aja.

The Shameless Lies of Abia Government Should Not Be Allowed to Stand -- Orji Kalu Initiated Free Education In Abia Not You,,, Chief Obinna Oriaku Counters Gov Otti. The current Abia government can go to any lengths to sponsor lies just to hold on to the few gullible ones who are still being deceived with propaganda, media manipulation, and sophistry. Unfortunately, Abians are becoming wiser by the day as they keep demanding accountability and good governance. The veil is gradually falling off our eyes. What is not organic does not last. In the last two weeks, I have been under the weather, but thank God I am fully recovered. I thank those who took the time to check on my recovery process. Unfortunately, those purveyors of fake stories and non-existent projects were thinking otherwise. Oriaku will continue to stand by the truth about what the present government is doing with our funds. What has happened to our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)? Does anyone know what the Abia state government is doing monthly in terms of IGR? A government that promised to prioritize IGR growth has gone to bed because they receive about N17 billion as the state’s monthly allocation. They will never want Abians to know what we get monthly. If they were receiving N6 billion as monthly allocation, I am sure we would have known what we make monthly as IGR. The Abia State Government wishes we could forget those non-existent projects like the recreational facility of N6.7 billion already written off or the N11 billion spent on renovating schools that are non-existent. My brother, Chima Oraiku, the immediate past Commissioner for Science and Technology, called to check on me. I reminded him of what I told him and why he needs to speak up on the N2.7 billion ICT center fraud. We are all ears. Nde eriri eri. During the period I was down, they claimed to have paid down our debt of N191 billion with N90 billion without being specific. There is nothing this government cannot claim. The only report from the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS), as published by Punch Newspapers on 11th November 2024, pointed to Enugu State as the only state in the South East that made significant progress in loan repayment by 32.83% through restructuring and outright repayment. They paid down their loans by moving from $120.45 million in December 2023 to $80.91 million in June 2024. I took time to interview their Accountant General, Mr. Tony, who explained their deliberate decision to ignore some World Bank loans and restructure existing ones. In Abia, we just signed on RAAMP for over £60 million through the activation of the World Bank-funded Itungwa-Umuoba road of 19.2 km. How did the state pay down? Can they share their mail exchange with the DMO in Abuja on the claimed pay-down of domestic debts? The local debts are still there, even with the lies about pension clearance, which the leadership of the Nigeria Pensioners Association has openly refuted, along with other components of local loans. The outstanding workers’ salaries inherited by this government stood at about N17 billion, as stated by the government, and repayment is on a monthly instalment asis. They have only paid three months; we still have over N13 billion outstanding based on the N1.5 billion monthly payment. They also lied about a fake, non-existent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of $150 million within the year (June 2023 to June 2024). The subsidiary loan agreement of $115 million from the Islamic Bank, part of the African Development Bank (ADFB) cocktail of loans, was yet to be signed by the Honorable Minister of Finance at the time of that fake report, which disqualifies ADFB as the source of the $150 million. Besides, the error in figures is not possible. We challenge this government to send out the NBS link of the report showing which agency or investor brought the investment to Abia within the period under review. Five months later, no agency is linked to the fake, non-existent $150 million. They want to claim to have introduced free education in Abia—a policy Orji Uzor Kalu introduced as Governor and has been nurtured and implemented by successive governments to date. If they are just realizing that extraneous charges are being imposed by school administrators after 18 months in office, then we can understand how empty and unsettled they are as a government. The Mr. Nwabueze Success story is another amusing tale of a drowning administration. Associating Obinna Oriaku, especially on pension issues, points to the cluelessness of the government. There are governance issues that Oriaku has moved beyond. Let them ask those who came before them. The shenanigans of a media trial of Mr. Nwabueze will not help the administration. Let them take him to court and let him prove his innocence, but I doubt the sincerity of this government on that issue. I was in Abia shortly before I fell ill. I used the Umuene to Umuikaa road two weeks ago and noticed that nothing has changed on that 8 km road, nine months after the flag-off, as the contractor has even left the site. That is about the only road project ongoing in Isiala Ngwa South, the supposed local government of the Governor. A government that was struggling to deceive us by forcing contractors to move to the site at the peak of the rainy season now has most sites deserted, even during the dry period. I also noticed that the high-tension wire of Geometric from Umuikaa to Umehim has been completed. On inquiry, I was told that only the Government House in Umuoru is connected to that Geometric 33 kV line. The rest of the entire villages are in total darkness. I took time to list the 17 villages that the high-tension Geometric line passes through. They are as follows: Umuikaa, Umuacha, Amuzu, Mgbedeala, Umuarau, Umuajuju, Amuke, Umuosu, Umuene, Umuelighle, Umuakawa, Amauha, Umuakpo, Umuapu, Umunkpo, Kputuke, and then Umuoru/Umuehim, including the entire Nvosi. I asked if this means these villages have been without electricity all these years. They affirmed they had always had light until June 2023, but most villages went dark because they heard the Governor was bringing a more reliable line that guarantees steady power supply, especially since the Government House is around them. This made some sections of the old power lines vulnerable to vandalisation. The villagers concluded that since their son is now the Governor, things would improve, including electricity. However, reverting to the old power source seems better today for these villagers than the promised improvement under their son’s administration. Today, only the Government House at Umuehim enjoys this Geometric 33 kV line, while the 17 villages remain in total darkness. Abia Flourished Under Orji Uzor Kalu Because He Was Loyal To Those Who Elected Him — Businessman A prominent community leader and businessman, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, says Abia State flourished from 1999 to 2007 because then-Governor Orji Uzor Kalu was loyal to those who elected him. He praised Senator Kalu for consistently working for the people, both as a governor and a senator. Chief Ukaegbu noted that Orji Uzor Kalu enjoys unprecedented popularity among Abians due to his accomplishments in education, health, agriculture, sports, infrastructure, and workers’ welfare. “I remember how farm settlements and agricultural plantations were established, while existing ones were maintained for food sufficiency. It’s sad that some of our people easily forget. Abia achieved food sufficiency under Kalu. Rice, cassava, yam, pineapple, and other crops were produced in large quantities during the Orji Uzor Kalu era. Abia flourished because he was with the people. It wasn’t about gathering elites and feeding them with state resources; he worked for the people, just as he is doing today. “Education was free for all. Today, he is building schools across communities in Abia North, distributing educational materials, and offering scholarships for the training of medical doctors. Don’t forget that Abia State University flourished under him. He built the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, 15 general hospitals, and schools across the state for our children. He has always been with the people, and today he is repeating the same commitment as a lawmaker. It’s about the consistency of always being with the people.” Chief Ukaegbu emphasized that Kalu remains the only leader to have offered Abia State purposeful and transformational leadership both as a governor and as a lawmaker. “He initiated the construction of Cameroun Road, Ojike Lane, Ehere, Ehere Road Extension, Umuola, and All Saints’ Academy—all handled by Grandstar Construction Company Limited. “He also constructed roads in Igbere, Aguiyi-Ironsi Layout, four roads in Government Station Layout, Okigwe Park, Aba Park, Agulu, Olokoro, Awkuzu, Cameroun, Orlu, Nkwerre, Timber, Afara, Niger/Asaba, as well as the asphalt overlay at Mater Dei Cathedral, Okigwe Park Link Road, Nkwoegwu to Express, Umuobasi, Oba, Car Park, and the extension of Arochukwu Street, Ohuhu, Olokoro Street with a spur to Olokoro Crescent, Eze Ogbulafor, and Nsukka. “He constructed the Owaza-Obehie-Azumini Road in Ukwa East (over 40 kilometers), Ekenta Igbere, Asaga-Ndibe-Amuma-Okon-Amangwu Road in Ohafia, Nkwoegwu Ring Road in Umuahia North, Abiriba Ring Road, Umuikea-Omoba Road in Isiala Ngwa South, Ndiro-Irunta Road in Ikwuano, Umuchieze-Leru-Lomara-Nneato Road in Umunneochi (over 20 kilometers), and the Ururuka Road to Acho Nwakanma’s residence in Obingwa Local Government (the Acho Nwakanma stretch was over 10 kilometers). All the roads in Ikwuano were constructed under his administration.” “As a lawmaker, I’ve heard he has facilitated the construction of over 80 roads. He has initiated the reconstruction of over 150 schools, which is unprecedented in the history of Abia State. He has also initiated youth and women empowerment programs, provided cash and educational support, and promoted agricultural empowerment through mechanized equipment and improved seedlings for food sufficiency. I’m pleased and proud to have someone like Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing Abia North Senatorial District.”

OUK, THE LOVER OF EDUCATION. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu from Abia North Senatorial District has been praised for facilitating the renovation of primary schools across his district. The renovation project, part of the 2024 Oji River budget, covers schools in five local government areas of Abia North, including: - Arochukwu Local Government. - Bende Local Government. - Isuikwuato Local Government. - Ohafia Local Government. - Umunneochi Local Government. This particular school was abandoned many years ago. I strongly believe that this accomplished project will put smile on the face of the good people of Umuhu as a whole. Senator OUK's act worth emulating. I must say that if people as well as their bitter political commanders, could drop every form of bitterness at least for once they will agree that Abia North Senatorial District has never witnessed such an unprecedented development from inception. 2027: No Vacancy In Abia North Sen District - Coalition Of S/East Youth Leaders. The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex sociopolitical youth group in the South East geopolitical zone has declared that there is no vacancy in Abia North Senatorial zone in 2027. However, they called on all political parties not to feed any other candidate in the senatorial zone but to rather adopt Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressive Party, APC, as their consensus candidate for 2027 elections. In a state statement issued on Sunday in Owerri jointly endorsed by the President General of COSEYL Comrade Goodluck Ibem and the Publicity Scretary Comrade Okey Nwaoru, they said that the Senator has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that he didn’t go to the Senate to count the number of seats or sleep at the Red Chambers, but rather he is at the Senate for serious business of governance which is to speak, defend and bring back dividends of democracy to his people who sent him there. According to them, COSEYL is elated over what they described as the futuristic and trailblazing performance of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing Abia North senatorial zone at the red chambers. The Youth body observed that Senator Kalu has given the zone a facelift and also restored the wasted years of non performance by previous representative of the zone. They said, “before now, his constituents were made to believe that representation only means going to the National Assembly to speak grammar and come back without any democracy dividends for the people, but Senator Kalu has opened the eyes of the people to know that there is more to being a representative of the people”. COSEYL said that Senator Kalu has rehabilitated and constructed over 90 roads, created and constructed new roads, given scholarships to indigents students to study abroad and in the country, empowered thousands of his constituents which are mostly youths and widows that truly need them, rehabilitated 78 schools and a whole lot of other democracy dividends too numerous to mention. They continued, “Senator Kalu’s name in politics and leadership is synonymous to performance. “People from the zone are joyous when his name is being mentioned because of the positive impact he has made in the lives of the people. He is indeed a trailblazer and an enigma of sorts”.

Construction Of Over 80 Rural Roads, Investment In Education By Senator Orji Kalu Best Empowerment For Abia North — Rev. Elekwa A Baptist Church cleric, Reverend Samson Okoro Elekwa, has praised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, for providing what he describes as the best form of empowerment through the construction of over 80 rural roads and investments in education across the senatorial district. The cleric noted that the numerous rural roads constructed by the senator have greatly boosted productivity in the agricultural sector, enabling farmers to transport their goods more efficiently. “If you go to Atan Abam, Alayi, Ezeukwu, Ndi Inya Abam, Isu, Umuzomgbo, Itumbauzo, Okoko Item, Nneato, Akanu Ohafia, Abia Ohafia, and many other communities in Abia North Senatorial District, you’ll see the roads constructed by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the lawmaker representing the district. This has significantly helped commuters in these areas to move their goods. For me, this is the best form of empowerment, far better than distributing handouts and small cash. “The importance of a good road network, particularly in rural areas, cannot be underestimated, just like the importance of healthcare centers and clean water. Economic and social development heavily rely on efficient road infrastructure, and a well-connected network of rural roads is essential for boosting agricultural activities.” The cleric also commended Senator Kalu for his major contributions to the education sector, including the distribution of educational materials like science textbooks, school bags, school uniforms, scholarships, and the renovation of over 100 schools in Abia North Senatorial District. “In Arochukwu, where I come from, I am aware of several schools he has renovated, including Mary Slessor, Amuvi, Obinkita Central, Ndi Okpo, and many more. I also know that areas like Ohafia, Bende, Isikwuato, and Umunneochi LGAs have greatly benefited from his educational interventions. This is the best way to secure the future of our children and our senatorial district because education is the foundation of any nation.”

AFRICA'S FASTEST RISING CONGLOMERATE, MASTERS ENERGY GROUP, DEBUNKS MISLEADING INFORMATION, DESCRIBES IT AS HANDIWORK OF INCONSEQUENTIAL AND RETROGRESSIVE BITTER ELEMENTS, REITERATES COMMITMENT TO UPHOLDING HIGHEST QUALITY AND ETHICAL STANDARD. Our attention has been drawn to a recent social media post which alleged that our company imported expired rice for distribution within the Nigerian market. We categorically deny this claim, which is entirely baseless and is a calculated attempt to damage our reputation by spreading falsehood against us. One of our major businesses is the sales of fast-moving consumer goods and top on the bouquet are rice and wine. For the records, our company ordered some quantity of rice in 2016 with the value of the consignment duly paid. The consignment was inspected and passed by a reputable international inspection agent prior to shipment to Nigeria. However, by the time the consignment arrived Tin Can Island Port Lagos, the restriction by the federal government of Nigeria on the importation of certain goods (among which is rice), famously referred to as Ban on 41 items, had taken effect; so we were unable to clear the containers from the Customs. We made various appeals and representations to the Central Bank of Nigeria and Nigerian Customs to grant us a window to clear the consignment; but our efforts were of no avail. The consignment was eventually seized by the Customs in August 2016. In 2019 - more than three years after the consignment has been seized - during a working visit to the Tincan port, the then Customs C.G. discovered the abandoned shipment within the premises, which had since deteriorated due to long exposure to heat in the container and other environmental elements. This was first thought to be a fresh import, but further investigation revealed that the containers have long been at the port and the goods degraded due to over-stay at the port. Our company was absolved of culpability. However, even before investigation, merchants of fake news and misinformation have gone out to mis-represent the facts. We release a statement to clarify the position through our legal counsel, Barr. M.O. Ubani, SAN, Our company is committed to upholding the highest quality and ethical standards and fully adheres to all import regulations. At no point did we import, intend to import, or distribute expired rice to the Nigerian market. We have already demanded immediate retraction of this misleading information from all platforms and a public apology to our company from the purveyors of this bare-faced falsehood aimed at tarnishing our hard-earned brand integrity. We sincerely thank our stakeholders and the public for their continued trust and reaffirm our commitment to serving with transparency and integrity.

*OUK AND HIS SOCIAL CONTRACT WITH ABIA NORTH* A Weekend Series by Ngwafactsnews media Reporters. The Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Senate Committee Chairman on Privatisation and Commercialisation, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu by every dint of imagination is a loyal and faithful party man. Chief Whip of the 9th Senate and Senate Committee Chairman on Banking, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, popularly called OUK is also a team player. His networking on the political turf is phenomenal as he is at home with both the political elites as well as those at the grassroots. Ever effervescent and boisterous, the dedication of the two term governor of Abia State (1999 - 2007), as a very good party man could be gleaned from the statement he made in 2023. The detribalized Senator said: " There is nothing personal about my choice of candidate for 2023 presidential election. I am a member of APC and our candidate is Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. Why should I work against the party? Elections go along party lines, not tribal lines." An early starter, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu since his foray into politics has maintained a steady float on the political scene. First elected into the Federal House of Representatives in 1992, the maverick politician was in 1999 under the banner of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elected the 2nd Executive Governor of Abia, God's Own State. He functioned in that capacity for two terms. For his quick service delivery especially with regard to the provision of road development in Aba during his first term, former President Olusegun Obasanjo banded him Action Governor. On the expiration of his tenure, OUK contested the 2007 presidential election as the presidential candidate of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA). He founded the party and was it's Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman. Futuristic and always calculative, when he perceived that his political future in PPA was bleak, Orji Uzor Kalu, the master strategist resigned as the BOT chairman of the party and joined All Progressive Congress (APC) A dogged fighter, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu challenged then incumbent Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Chief Mao Ohuabunwa. By his oratorical prowess and superior issues based campaign, coupled with his outstanding performance as governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, the jinx breaker doused Senator Ohuabunwa at the polls, beating him with over 10,000 votes and thus became a Distinguished Senator of the 9th Senate. Again in 2023, the political tactician repeated the feat by coasting to victory as a member of the 10th National Assembly. In the past five years plus, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, an altruistic leader has been rendering effective and qualitative representation to his Abia North constituents. People-centric and a service oriented leader, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has taken his representation of Abia North at the Upper Chamber beyond law making. To ensure that his constituents enjoy the dividends of democracy, OUK has influenced and facilitated the inclusion of many projects in successive national budgets.
