In indefatigable advancement of his legislative legacy of indelible impact, the member representing Aba North And South Federal Constituency, Hon. Mascot Alex Ikwechegh, (Onye Ocha N'Aba) on the 1st of November, 2024 officially commenced the training of five thousand youths in various indispensable skills.

The exercise, which officially kick-started at River Side Primary School Aba, saw immeasurable number of registered participants, systematically organized by the aides of the lawmaker for the skill acquisition and empowerment exercise in line with their preferences.

This mouthwatering cum well planned exercise, seeks to significantly empower and equip over five thousand youths with valuable skills in various endeavours, ranging from Tailoring, Driving, Tiling, Dressmaking, Beauticians, Auto Mechanics, Solar Panel Installation, Auto Electricians, Aluminum Profile Making And Installation, Shoe Making And Leather Works, Plumbing, Etc.

Succinctly, this exquisite initiative, will not only serve as a huge path towards self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship, but will also provide the needed antidote to Nigeria's present excruciating economy characterized by unemployment and hyper-inflation.

Reacting to the development, the chairman of the Skill Acquisition And Empowerment Exercise committee, Chief George Ezikpe, extolled the lawmaker for his ingenuity and splendiferous achievements thus far. He further expressed confidence in the lawmaker's capacity to attract more democratic dividends.

Amidst uncontrollable elation, the participants showered immeasurable encomium on the people's lawmaker for this Incredible initiative, adding that this exercise, has unarguably rekindled their confidence. They further expressed gratitude and promised to efficiently utilize the knowledge that will be obtained upon the completion of the training.

EDUCATION: Sen. Kalu Advances Legislative Preparedness, Renovates Achi Primary School, Umuhu, Bende LGA.

In a remarkable display of commitment to education and community development, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has renovated the long-abandoned Achi Primary School in Umuhu, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State by successive Senators. It is worthy to note that this transformative project has brought new life to the school, providing a conducive learning environment for the inhabitants of Umuhu and surrounding communities.

*Abuja, FCT | Tuesday, October 29, 2024* – I wish to address an incident that occurred on Sunday involving an unfortunate exchange with Citizen Stephen Abuwatseya, an e-hailing cab driver.

What began as a misunderstanding escalated into actions and remarks I deeply regret, which do not reflect the values and character I strive to uphold, both as a citizen and as a representative of the people.

I sincerely apologize for my words and actions during this incident. I recognize the distress and frustration this has caused Citizen Abuwatseya, his family, and the public at large. As a public servant, I understand the weight of my role and how my words can impact others.

While I am human and not infallible, I remain accountable for my actions. Citizen Abuwatseya and I have explored alternative dispute resolution methods to address this issue and have reached a respectful resolution, which I am committed to following through.

Furthermore, I extend my heartfelt apologies to the Inspector General of Police, recognizing the unintended disparagement my remarks may have caused to his person, his office, and the entire institution. I reaffirm my respect for the Nigerian Police Force and the Inspector General's commitment to maintaining law and order.

Additionally, I extend my sincere apologies to the leadership and members of this House and the National Assembly as a whole for any deficit in goodwill this incident may have caused. I am aware that my actions reflect not only on myself but also on this esteemed institution and the trust that the public places in us.

This incident has been a humbling reminder of the necessity for restraint and self-control, especially in challenging circumstances. The basic thing some past and present governors can brag about is infrastructural development, paying workers salaries and maybe struggling to pay pension, but these were not issues during the administration of OUK as he developed the infrastructure of Abia State, paid salaries and even made sure education was TOTALLY FREE. One of the major achievements of the administration of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu in Abia State during his time as governor was his commitment to making sure every child in Abia State enjoyed compulsory FREE EDUCATION from Primary School till Secondary School. As a leader, THE ACTION GOVERNOR knew that education was the key to a brighter future and he made sure he provided that for every child thereby making it easy for parents who couldn't afford to pay school fees to send their children to government owned schools.

Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has also given scholarship to many to study abroad. Some are in Venezuela studying medicine which I have a friend who benefited from his scholarship.

Few weeks ago, Distinguished senator OUK have renovated class rooms in Ndiawa community primary school, Ngodo town community primary school, Lomara central school and many other primary schools in Umunneochi which were abandoned some years back. Dr Orji Uzor Kalu is committed to improving educational system in Umunneochi LGA. As he is evidently contributing greatly towards the educational sector, the prayers of the pupils, teachers, and the entire people of Umunneochi will continue to make ways for him.

Because Senator OUK values education more than any other thing, he always provide writing materials, school bags, desk and other things our pupils need.

Yesterday, the All Ngwa Cultural Center Hall situated at Brewery Road by Bata was filled to the brim as Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh.(Onyeocha N'Aba) distributed 600 bags of fertilizers worth over 35 Million naira to the indigenous Farmers of Aba North and South Federal Constituency.

Speaking at the event while making the presentation of the high breed fertilizers,the honourable Member advised the farmers to make proper use of the fertilizers to grow food in abundance.

He also used that medium to reel out some of his projects and initiatives scattered all over Aba North and South federal Constituency in just 8 months of his assumption of office which includes, the total reconstruction and refurbishment of Eziama Community school and Riverside Primary schools 1 and 2.

provision of 2 coaster buses for free transportion to ndi Aba, provision of 15 brand new transformers that will help bring stable power supply to areas that has been in darkness in Aba, remediation works on dilapidated Roads in Aba North and South, Empowerment programs for the widows and the less privileged, the training and empowerment of 5000 youths in various skills and acquisitions.

The residents of Ohazu Road in Aba were filled with excitement and anticipation as they trooped out en masse to witness a special event that will mark a new beginning for their community.

After years of neglect and deterioration, the dilapidated road that connects Ibere road from Nkwo Ngwa Market off Obohia Road in Aba South LGA is finally getting the attention it deserves.

Earlier today, Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh(Onyeocha N'Aba), the member representing the boisterous and hardworking people of Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, lead a road flag-off ceremony to kickstart the rehabilitation of Ohazu Road.

The event is a ray of hope for the residents who have endured countless inconveniences and hardships due to the poor condition of the road especially for many property owners that fled and left their properties to deteriorate. Some of the big buildings in that Road has become refuse dumps while trees has grown big at the center of the Road.

The flag-off ceremony was indeed a milestone moment for the people of Ohazu Road, as they witnessed the beginning of a transformation that will bring relief and progress to their community.

In him, I saw someone who is honest, responsible, and very sincere about what is happening today in Nigeria.

“I am a Yoruba cleric with a good conscience. I do not know him personally, but it has always been his trait to speak the truth at all times. He spoke for the masses yesterday, where he encouraged the President to develop a homegrown economy to help put food on the table for all Nigerians. In recent times, the establishment of political NGOs or foundations has become a strategic move—a “political format,” so to speak. In Abia, when someone launches a foundation, the public can almost predict that campaign posters will soon follow. This behavior is now widely recognized as a precursor to electoral ambitions. Abi, no be so?

Presently, many of these so-called political NGOs and foundations have gone on sabbatical. They're silent, just when Abians need them most. This is a time of hardship when the people require support, love, and encouragement. Yet, these organizations remain dormant.

Abians have become more discerning and can see through these tactics.

Election season or not, he remains true to his calling—consistently reaching out, uplifting people, and truly exemplifying what it means to be a philanthropist. If you take an objective look, Ogah appears to have created more millionaires in Abia State than many who are believed to be wealthier than him.

It has been empirically established that the phenomenon of Leadership cum result driven legislation is never bed of roses, as it requires intense seriousness, commitment and a pragmatic approach, for the realization of concrete objectives (Utilitarianism).

That said, it is no news that Nigeria is currently plagued with myriads of seemingly intractable economic challenges. Challenges that has hugely devalued our currency, created unfavourable balance of payments, informed hyper-inflation, Increased unemployment, placed youths and households in a dilemma, encouraged youth restiveness as seen in relatively all parts of the country, skyrocketed petrol prices and frustrated businesses. These disheartening economic challenges, has not only had catastrophic effects on the country's GDP but has equally frustrated business flow in the artisanal town of Aba North And South which undoubtedly, is the commercial hub of the State, Nigeria and Africa.

Notwithstanding the plethora of challenges impeding business flow and growth in the country, state and my constituency at present, it is exquisite to mention that these challenges are not insurmountable, as it can be confronted and defeated with a sustainable and realistic approach to governance.

It is in the light of the above that I introduced yet another sustainable initiative (Free Transport Services/Coaster Initiative) in Aba North And South. This free transport services, serves as a concrete approach towards mitigating and cushioning the effects of high transport cost occasioned by inflation.

As the lawmaker representing the artisanal town of Aba North And South, I'm extremely confident that this exquisite initiative, will not only save cost, but will equally lessen the frustration that comes with movement, as the diverse population of Aba ranging from students, businessmen, clergy, artisans, health workers etc, will henceforth enjoy free transport services.

House of Rep’s Committee on Power Inspects Masters Energy Metering Company ,Assures of Parliamentary Intervention


The House of Representatives Committee on Power led by it’s Chairman and Member Representing Ika North East and South Federal Constituency Hon Victor Nwokolo says the Commitee will do everything within its legislative powers to facilitate a harmonious relationship between the Federal Ministry of Power, Electricity Distribution Companies and the Masters Energy Metering Company.

The Chairman Stated this when he led Members of his Commitee to on -the -spot assessment of Masters Energy Metering Company and a Tour of Masters Industrial City in Onuaku,Uturu Isiukwuato Local Government Area of Abia State on Tuesday.

He commended the President of Masters Energy Group Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah for the massive investment in Abia State and for creating thousands of Jobs for the Youths.

“I won’t say I am surprised with what we are seeing here having known you for over 20years”

“From what we have seen here, we will take it beyond the House Commitee on Power, we relate to the Senate Commitee on Power and the Minister of Power”

“If we already have immediate sources for Meters, then I think Discos will have no choice than to patronize it”he said.

The President of the Masters Energy Group Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah in his speech commended the House Committee On Power for coming to take on the spot assessment of the M E Metering Company.

He said the Company planned to provide 50,000 Jobs for Nigerian People.


“Our intentions is to put 50,000 Nigerians directly under our Employment “

“We have never benefited anything from Government, infact Bank of Industry Told us to bring an Industry in Lagos as a collateral for them to support what we are doing here “

“We want to get the Masters Energy to be part of the development of the Nigerian economy

“Here today we have 2000 workers working in several sectors of the Company”he said.

The Managing Director of the Company Prince Mbah while briefing the House Commitee about the giant strides of the Company said the Company targets to produce 602,16 Meters if it gets the necessary support to boost productivity.


“Our Metering Factory is Situated in the Masters Energy Group Industrial City, This city is probably the largest Production hub in the South East with over ten Companies producing various goods, providing employment to over 3000 People”

“Masters Metering Company which produces Single Phase and Three Phase Prepaid Meters, prepared Meter Production will soon start, while Masters Noodles, Masters Plastics plant, Master Ma Cartons and Dry Mix,Musters Lub, Masters PVC, Masters Soap Plant, Aluminum Plant,and Masters Table Water are all producing with few others which will commence operation soon”

“Honourable Members will be surprised to hear that the huge Investments made by Masters Energy in this City run on Private Supply, the entire community has been off the National Grid for about 10years Now”

“Various Roads to the Industrial City Are in Deplorable Conditions, water is not within reach in this Locality. We spend so much to Produce our own Water”

He revealed that the Company has gotten all approval for Energy Metering including STS Association Of Conformance for Single Phase and theee Face Metering, the Nigerian Electricity Certificate among others.

“So far we currently have 14,000 Customers who use our Meters and the Industry has a functional Plastic Factory that can Produce Meter Box, Meter Cover, Meter Casing”

The Company Called on the Hosue of Representatives to assist them in getting approval for massive Meter distributions as he said the Company has 150,000 Meters already on ground.

The House Committe Toured other facilities in the Company and expressed satisfaction with what they saw.
