Raider76: We are a people devoid of patriotism. It is self first, tribe second and religion third. That is why govt. appointments and policies should not show any coloration of the terrible biases you have rightly identified. Once people perceive govt as being biased towards any of these, it further kills their patriotism and leads to all sorts of problems we are experiencing in different regions/zones of the nation currently. Although, some of these issues pre-dated this current govt. (govt in this context is a general term, not necessarily PBAT govt alone.) |

Phred1717: This policy is very premature, I don't know who is advising PBAT. Why is the president bend on making more money to the government, the tax burden on the masses is way out of reach. How many refineries do we have, why can the government make other refinery work then bring up this Tax policies It is because he is just clueless, hence he thinks only enacting policies and taxing people to generate more revenue would be the solution. A govt that would rush to spend N16trillion on an emergency new road that would take more than 5 years to complete, while several existing major roads are totally gone and impassable for motorists in all parts of the country. |

Bobloco: Exactly! You’ve nailed it.
They keep making knee-jerk economic decisions without any long-term thinking.
Infact every sane person should know by now that the Tinubu administration parades the most useless set of individuals as economic advisers in the history of this nation. They talk before they think. individuals with patch-patch CVs parading themselves as technocrats. Every policy they roll out seems disconnected from the real economic situation on ground. No consistency, no strategy, just pure trial and error! The moment he made that reckless statement ''subsidy is gone, whether you like it or not'' at the inauguration ground, and how he floated the naira all of a sudden (without any serious consultation or background work), I realized we are in big trouble with this govt. Their main focus is to raise revenue by whatever means and spend on their vaunted, poorly conceived projects and policies, rather than prudent management of the economy. |

The result is VERY GOOD. I only highlighted the grey areas (some of which have been clarified in the unaudited results release) Oando is a goldmine in waiting! The successful turnaround from downstream to upstream is no mean feat. Imagine what would happen after successfully raising fresh capital (to eliminate huge finance costs) and additional oil blocs in Nigeria, the Angola operations, Trinidad refinery etc. It has been a long, difficult journey and unfortunately some investors might have lost money in the past but the future is very bright. |

Kill innocent citizens and not the Hamaz they claim to be fighting. Fact is Isreal is expanding hence need to clear the palestinians , what i call ethnic cleansing . Shey the ones blinded by religion wont see anything wrong with this. Same ones that will ccrrry when terrorist kill them in Nigeria. If your life is important , so does the Palestinians. Idgaf about Isreal taking Hamas , they at war so it’s fine, but why the ordinary Palestinians if not that you have a plan of ethnically cleansing them? Israel is not expanding. They are living inside the land that belongs to their forefathers right from time. The Arabs called Palestinians are the ones squatting in Israeli towns like Bethlehem, Shiloh, Hebron, Jerusalem etc. and they want to claim and hijack those places from Israel by force. |

These are managed by Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority(NSIA). The proceeds from this investments are meant to service our Budget deficits from time to time.
What's stopping Govt from going this route?
https://nsia.com.ng/stabilization-fund/ They have probably looted the stabilization fund, so there is nothing in the fund |

Blood thirsty savages that's what they are. Nobody has forced you to believe they are God's own country (by the way, it is America that makes that claim for itself). There are other people to who would force you to believe what they worship or they behead and kill you, or they attack and burn the place where you worship whatever you believe |

BabsO2: It makes sense to not distribute tranche 3-6 but to sell it to a new investor and use the money to pay off debts and speedup business turnaround. I have always said this is the better option for current investors. They should sell shareholders compensation (redistributed shares) to which new investors again when there is already AGM approval to raise additional capital? The AGM approved that the shares be redistributed to shareholders. If they want to sell to new investors, then there will be another AGM to authorize the sale and the price must be disclosed. And that will create more confusion. Shareholders have invested and tied down their capital for long without dividends so they need something as compensation. |

courage89: While a lot of us are focusing on the very high capital gain tax, this can actually be a blessing in disguise for NGX. I see the steep capital gain tax as a risk mitigation to help reduce capital flight in the face of economic stagnation, recession, sanctions and protect the long term stability and growth of NGX.
Most times, we’ve been made to believe capital flight that paralyze and damage Nigerian capital market are caused by political uncertainty, corruption, macroeconomic instability including: currency depreciation, high inflation, external debt, high interest rate and others…While these rationale are very valid, they are not the major reasons.
Other reasons that can trigger sudden capital flight includes: sanctions by foreign governments, statements from big corporations or financial institutions and others. These triggers can happen at any time, due to no fault of the government. Speculative attacks from these capital flight will end up having catastrophic consequences on Nigerian economy.
Example of this was in 2015, when JP Morgan removed Nigeria from its index bond. This sudden exclusion triggered significant capital outflows, with foreign investors selling their Nigerian bonds, stocks and other assets. Leading to decline in stock market, devaluation of naira, higher interest rates, job losses and other economic problems. Let’s assume we had this CGT at the time, could this have prevented the speculative bubble of the 2015?
The long term stability and growth of NGX should be the most important factors. Any policy/ policies to strengthen this stability and growth should supersede short term gains of all investors. Nigerian investors don't want the CGT. It is not about capital flight or no capita flight by foreign investors The NGX is now dominated by local investors. Most foreign investors sold off their shares as prices fell drastically during the global financial crisis and Covid-19 pandemic giving Nigerians the opportunity to buy more shares. |
