Erniemax101: Hey man, just to be clear—we’re not fighting. I’m a lifelong learner and always open to being corrected, so no hard feelings at all.
That said, I’ve got a question: let’s say I buy Oando stock, then sell everything and completely exit the position. Later on, if I decide to buy the stock again, does my average cost start fresh, or will it include the previous transactions from the past that I’ve already closed out? Please I want the house input on this, Your average cost will start afresh if you sold everything completely from the previous transaction. The calculation is based on a moving weighted average but it will start afresh after you sold everything and closed out. |

KarlTom: Mikeapollo
I recall several British and German engineers who I worked with in the last few years of proper refining at WRPC and I can tell you for a fact that those refineries, in their current state, are full scale liabilities. Over ₦20trillion has been spent on rehabilitation or/and maintenance since 2010 with little or nothing to show.
That's enough to build a Dangote Refiney with some change... Is it not possible for the refineries to be retrofitted or re-engineered to work properly? |

Just checkout their recent result and you would be very impressed with their fundamentals.

People rushed to sell off Oando because they are not expecting any dividend anytime soon. Yeah, you are right |

They should issue commercial paper least see if they can repay since company like Dangote, Fidson, Mecure industries are all issuing commercial paper Ellah Lakes should issue commercial paper .... Olaide1295: Correction: Those refineries are national liabilities, not assets. I don't think the sale will happen before the elections for political reasons. So anyone speculating should be careful. Correction: Those refineries are assets, not liabilities. Anything that has value and would give you money when you sell is an asset They have become "liabilities" because of our corruption, mismanagement and probably incompetence. Those refineries would work perfectly if the original builders ( i.e. foreign engineers) should take over and run them. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 3:41pm On Jul 12, 2025 |
SonofElElyonRet: Are you saying Oando is not fit and qualifed to run a refinery? Or just because its CEO is related to the President that disqualifies them? Oando has the capacity.. no scandal if a refinery is sold to them. Nothing will happen I am referring to the potential issues of corruption, conflict of interest etc and how Oando may never be able to convince the populace and potential foreign investors that the deal was transparent, fair and above board . And it could be revoked by a future president. The refinery in far away Trinidad and Tobago is even generating a similar problem because the opposition party has already threatened not to recognise the deal when they come to power i.e they may revoke the deal |

KarlTom: It's the refineries that are likely to be sold NOT the entire NNPCL
IMO, the refineries are a hole in the pocket of the FG & NNPCL "Refineries' was ommitted in error in the particular post The discussion is about "🤭NNPC refineries" |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 3:26pm On Jul 12, 2025 |
Raider76: Did anyone say sell NNPC? It is only the refineries we are talking about. Selling them is not taboo. It was done by OBJ before. If you follow the thread from the beginning to end you would realize I was referring to NNPC refineries but "" refineries" was only ommitted in the bolded clause you refered to. |

megawealth01: If he sells it nothing will happen bro My brother, there could be endless court cases and political action (e.g. protests) that may affect the transaction which may affect the share price. The political risk will be too much and the whole thing may be revoked by another govt. the same way YarDua revoked the initial sale by OBJ. If Oando would be involved, it should be part of a consortium e. g Aradel, Oando, Renaissance etc . |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 1:36pm On Jul 12, 2025 |
Raider76: All they have to do is conduct and open and transparent process. Remember that OBJ sold the refineries before. So there are reference prices. There is no amount of open and transparent process that would convince the Nigerian masses if Tinubu should sell a national asset like NNPC to Oando, a company owned by his nephew. The critical importance, controversies and corruption around fuel and petroleum products and the ignorance about business and corpotrate governance in Nugeria is too much. Oando should not even bother to put in a bid if they love themselves. |

Sunrisepebble: It’s not an expense on the income statement You would not see the whole CAPEX cost as a direct expense but it would increase annual depreciation charge as an expense. Generally speaking, a significant jump or increase in production-related CAPEX should lead to higher capacity to produce more, and higher profitability in mid to long term. |

Go and ask what happened to Oando delisting. For Naija, we know how to play this game. Last last we go use court adjournment frustrate their life if they no wan pay better money. Protracted court adjournments may discourage investors also affect the price negatively as it happened to Oando too. |

Are there any stock recommendations, as I couldn't read the whole 9k-plus posts? I would appreciate a response. Thank you. It is better you develop interest and find time to read. It will help you much better than relying solely on recommendations by others. There are several recommendations in the last few days on this thread. Even if people recommend stocks to you, you should still put in the effort and read about the companies, their recent audited accounts, sector/industry news, govt policies affecting them, competitors in the sector etc. Some guys do a lot of research/reading before they are able to discover/recommend good stocks Experts, over to you...... waiting for your recommendations |

HesInMe: Honestly, there are some stocks that shouldn't be promoted to the general public. VFD is one such.
It's like a hybrid between private-equity firm and a merchant bank. They have some glitzy marketing, but I guarantee that 99% of people here can't properly value this stock: Most people don't have comfort with concepts like "expected credit losses" and "impairment of goodwill," which are key to the value of VFD.
Leave this one to the investment pros. Simpler ways to make money and sleep well. @HeInMe. Yes, God is in you. So, selfishness cannot be in you. Your are delivered from it! |
