Are you so much concerned with who gets credit than the impact of the economic growth we get and impact on the stock market?
The impact is what matters and the impact will always come if the right thing is done. No president will be in office for ever, but we will always feel the benefits or costs of their policy actions.
What is unethical and unprofessional is to do mischief and tell lies by arrogating the success that does not belong to them. This same govt blames Buhari for past policy failures. Why are they not truthful enough to give credit for what he did?

Wale go shock them before him uncle release Nigeria?
To be honest, I think Wale has taken some good steps that show that he means well and is ready to reward Oando shareholders, and also uphold good corporate governance going forward.
It is a big deal to release and distribute a whooping 4.3billion shares amongst minority shareholders!. We should never take this gesture for granted because no shareholder would have known if he had refused to do it.
I just hope that Q1 2025 produces good results. If that happens, there may be big price rally for the next tranche of the share distribution.

I laugh! Election? What is my business with who wins the election?
Peoples' lives, wellbeing, future prospects, education, career etc are been jeopardized by bad economic policies.
Savings and investments have been eroded due to his terrible economic policies. Many have lost foreign school admissions or cannot continue because of currency devaluation etc.
How can we be talking about investments and be oblivious of the effects of govt economic policies which ultimately determine the direction, flow, value and fate of investments, in both capital and money markets.

I criticize him because of his display of arrogance and show of no remorse for the suffering he has inflicted on the nation..

Saying those words are not the bone of contention but saying someone "gate-crashed" into Aso Rock is synonymous to a common ridiculous rhetoric.
So you think it is right for someone's father to be insulted because of a ''common ridiculous rhetoric''?

''Gate-crash'' in this context is neither an accusation nor an insult. It only means that some has benefited by exploiting the weakness or loopholes in the system.
Many have ''gate-crashed'' into event centers, lecture halls, commuter buses, theatre halls etc. when the security system at the entrance/gate failed! The people may later pay the right entry fees but, this time, they are already seated inside the hall or bus.
In this particular instance, ''gate-crashing'' means that he became president but he did not win 50%+ of total votes cast because the weaknesses in the Nigerian electoral system allowed it (the normal thing is to win 50%+ of the votes as obtains globally).
But the reaction was to insult my father who did not campaign for any public election, and who has not implemented any policy that has inflicted so much economic hardships on the innocent poor masses of this nation, and even on the capital market where we seek to invest and make some money.

You can not say with objectivity that Tinubu is clueless! You might not agree with his policies but he is most definitely not clueless and incompetent!
I guess you and Emir are a perfect fit!
NB. I am Yoruba but supported Atiku in the last election so it's not about tribe or party
All that is required is for those who believe Tinubu has done well to state their case.
For instance, If I say he is clueless, they can say he is a master strategist.
If I say he is incompetent, they can say he has performed excellently well etc.
I I say he is a disaster, they can say he is a saviour etc

But if I say he is incompetent, and the only thing these people can say/do is start insulting someone's father etc. It does not make sense. It only shows they are empty and have nothing meaningful to counter what I said.

NB:
I don't want to even mention ethnicity in this.
They cannot cow anyone from criticizing the president. He is a public office holder.

The fact is we are all divided along political, tribal and religious line. Making a derogatory comment about Tinubu will be met with backlash from people that align with him in ideology or tribe.

The more we are sensitive to this, the better if we don't want a backlash

For the sake of clarity my comment applies to both of you. Your vituperation against Tinubu is wrong. Make your point without insults
How did I insult Tinubu? I only said he is clueless and incompetent.
These are not insults, they are my judgement of his performance in govt. We should not mix the two.
I did not say he is foolish or stupid or mad or drunk.

Tinubu himself called Goodluck Jonathan (a sitting president) a drunken fisherman! Did you see or hear anyone from Jonathan's camp or PDP insulting or attacking Tinubu for that?

The president's work is not for those who are not tolerant to criticisms.
For the first time in recent history, Nigerians had to demonstrate against unprecedented economic hardship, suffering and cost of living crises. All those Nigerian masses cannot be wrong.

Thank you though for your very wise and responsible intervention. Well appreciated.

Oando clearly has more assets (over 1 billion barrels in oil reserves) than debt.
Just multiply 1billion barrels by price of crude, the exchange rate (even in discounted present values) and compare with the value of their debt

Please Emir this is highly uncivil. I usually respect you in one group that we share unless it's a different moniker
@Megawealth, @ KarlTom, @ SonofElElyonRet et al

Thank you for your wise counsel and advice to our neighbours.
The thing pain them too much. Truth is truly bitter and hurts.

But don’t be surprised if they fail to heed your good counsel. What do you expect from people who see a person in power as their demi god who cannot be criticized, all just because he is rich and now a president, or maybe because they eat from the crumbs dropping off his table. Even more successful presidents of bigger nations are criticized on daily basis.
They do not have superior facts to engage in any meaningful intellectual debate, so they use gutter language and insults to defend a clearly clueless and grossly incompetent president, govt. or political party.
They do these things apparently due to lack of responsible parental upbringing, poor education and training, sheer indiscipline and incontrovertible ignorance.
Hence, they make themselves useful idiots for the benefit of politicians and political parties.
Any person that becomes president but did not win majority (50%+) of all votes cast, has only gate-crashed into the presidency. Worse still, he has inflicted unprecedented economic hardship and increased the incidence of poverty on the innocent citizens of this country like never before.

Tinubu is a complete failure and a disaster! A million insults will not change the economic realties of the masses.

I won't respond to further loose talk from any of them on this issue!

In Nigeria, the govt is saying that a child must be 16 years before gaining admission to university.

The boy in Ghana would have graduated before his counterpart in Nigeria is allowed to go to university.

Tranche 1
Lagbaja has 300,000 units by QD 1(Feb 14). SP =₦75. Ratio is 1:12.
Lagbaja gets 25,000units (equivalent of ₦1,875,000). That's about ₦3 per share

Tranche 2
Lagbaja now has 325,000 units by QD 2(June 30). SP =₦85. Ratio is 1:15.
Lagbaja gets 21,666units (equivalent of ₦1,841,610). That's about ₦4 per share

Lagbaja now has 346,666units by QD 3 + ₦7 'DIV' in 2025... wink

Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo:
yMcy56:
I guess you should understand more about this tranche distribution of a thing.....
It's in the interest of the share price and shareholders.....
Some shareholders complained about flooding the secondary market with shares if all is distributed at once, this must have been factored into the distribution, hence the spreading into tranches.
We ought to appreciate this I Blvd.
I expect you of all people to appreciate this gesture and this gentleman at least.
And who says I don't understand or appreciate what has been done?
When we talk about issues, we should discuss both pros and cons, not just one side. That is how we educate each other.
What Oando has done now will benefit everybody, no one is disputing it.
But some shareholders were trying to ambush the company and expecting the whole distribution to be done at once, so that they could sell and dump which would have caused problems for the stocks on NGX, as many people could dump it after making huge sudden profits.
Oando is also spreading the redistribution as a form of periodic ''stock dividend'' in lieu because they know they may not be able to pay cash dividends in the next 2 or 3 years.
That is all I was saying

No, the 36 months is for the redistribution of all the 4.2billion shares.
Phase 1 (1,283b shares) is for Tranche 1 (Feb2025, 641m shares) and Tranche 2 (Jun 2025, 641m shares)

That Wale is a smart guy man, I swear!
With this, he may be able to keep shareholders interest in Oando for at least 2 years. i.e. like interim and final dividends (in shares redistribution).

I dont really see much in the news tbh
The distribution ratio is not that attractive to me. Unless they're changing it in the second tranche
Smart guys at Oando grin grin grin
I was also expecting the whole redistribution to be done at once.
But I also think it is deliberate strategy, to avoid a sudden rush followed by sudden dumping of the shares.
With this strategy, they could manage to keep people's interest in Oando for the next 2-3 years, even if no cash dividend is paid. And it will be done twice a year i.e. like interim and final dividend (in shares)
Again, those who hold their shares till the end may benefit more, because of the possible compounding effect in the redistribution formula adopted, if I am not mistaken.

It does not work that way. The shares are already approved to be shared amongst shareholders, hence the company cannot sell and keep the money.

I did something similar when Oando was selling around N4-N6 and now waiting for the right time/price to sell some units , especially after the share redistribution .

According to Wale, Oando has 1 billion barrels of crude oil underground.

My prayer for Oando and it's upstream mates is for crude oil to remain above $70 a barrel, with all the disruptions around the world, including Trump's policies at home and abroad.

Conoco P - $1.5b
NAOC - $0.7b

Even assuming there has been no debt reduction since Conoco P, what is $2b debt to an entity sitting on $70b, less production costs. ?

I may be missing something seriously.
The huge finance costs on the debt is depressing profits and contributing to loss making.
Poor or inadequate profits would make it difficult for the company to attract more investors and also affect the share price.
The crude oil in the ground stills requires funds (cashflow) for it to be pumped and sold to generate revenue, otherwise it would remain dormant. So it is advisable they reduce the debt and related finance costs in order to improve profit margins.

But with Oando's about 12bn OS already, I am afraid a bonus issue will not help their fundamentals in immediate term. Just my wild imagination anyway even though I too am heavy in Oando and shall only disembark if Tinubu loses reelection in 2027.
It is not a bonus in the real sense i.e. they are not creating or issuing new shares to shareholders.
Rather, they are withdrawing existing shares from some related parties (subsidiaries) and redistributing same to other shareholders pro rata. Hence, the total number of shares outstanding will not change.
It seems like a ''bonus'' to the recipient shareholders, but it is ''redistribution'' from the company's perspective.
They will be redistributing (sharing) about 4.3 billion shares to holders of about 8.132billion shares, pro rata
