Stop seeing everything as election politics.
It does not help.

The management says they want to pay dividends from reserves using numbers of the ''Company''.. That is where the negative retained earnings of N62. per FY2026 accounts

I don't think 5% is a policy statement. But a guidance based on real market price that is not hyped but reflective of reasonable value. For now in their mind a reasonable value is N50 (the rights price). I believe it's such thinking. Not a policy.

What we should hold them to is the Dividend Payout ratio.
If the share price is going too high, and there is not enough profits or cash to pay high dividend, the share price could be brought down (manipulated) to enable them pay the 5% yield.

How can Oando pay a dividend of N10 per considering the precarious condition of their debts and the ability to pay

It is unnecessary to use derogatory words on people.
Different scenarios of dividend per share were also mentioned e.g. N1, N2.50, N5 etc.

Seplat has huge debts, it still pays dividends.

What matters is to service the debts adequately as required by creditors and have positive retained earnings, enough cash to pay dividends, IF any.

But a N10 dividend would mean a price of N200. What could make the price jump to N200? That is the koko

What is meaning of Dividend Yield of 5%? It does not make sense.

N2.5 If share price is N50
N5 if the share price is N100
N10 if the share price is N200

This could be dangerous and a way to manipulate the share price, if care is not taken.
Dividend payout ratio should be distinct from dividend yield because share price should not be determined by the company.

But they may decide to pay some interim dividends in 2027 if the Q1 or H1 results are very good.

Dividend based on 2027 accounts. They made reference to retained earnings of negative N62b per 2026 accounts.
Please take note that the figures they mentioned are under ''Company'' and not under ''Group''.
They seem to be cleaning the books of the ''Company'' to enable them pay dividend.
