Dangote cement sells across 10 African countries, and his home country where he produces these products with all the risk hazards, still buys Dangote cement more expensive than other countries where he exports to.

It is now time to settle mountainous debts, Dangote wants Nigerians to come buy 5k Naira shares in refinery 🤣.

So, if we leave you, you’ll send your urgent 5k to Dangote in the name of being a shareholder in a refinery. You want to be a refinery co-owner with 5k Naira 🤣.

They understand very well that you’re greedy, so they’ll keep riding on your insatiability to milk you to further enrich themselves.

The Dangote Refinery is offering retail investors up to two bonus shares if they continuously hold their IPO shares for a period of two years.

To qualify for this incentive, investors must purchase a minimum of 10 shares during the public offering and maintain at least that minimum holding throughout the entire two-year period without selling.

In simple terms, you must hold your original IPO shares for two full years to qualify for the complete bonus entitlement. For example, if you purchase 10,000 shares, you must continue to hold all 10,000 shares for the full two years to be eligible for the additional two bonus shares.

I stand to be corrected

But the whole 125billion shares will NOT be available to traders. Only a maximum of about 4billion shares would be available.
The distribution of the shareholdings is key. Alhaji, NNPC, Institutional investors and high net-worth individuals will still hold about 97%+

Even in the IPO, out of 4.1billion shares, a foreign entity is already bidding to buy 1 billion units ($400,000,000 about N528b).
If they do share reconstruction at the right price and the results are good it may favour shareholders.
But all these are just some perspective; nothing is cast in stone

I have said that it is wrong for him to say the shares would turn people to millionaires, even if in 10 years. That was unnecessary.

Apart from that, a refinery with capacity of 1.4m barrels per day(after expansion) will be a global ''monster''.
The US-Iran war has also provided them the opportunity to sign and lock-in contracts to supply Europe, US etc. for some years ahead..

My worry is if govt can sanitize the sector by ensuring consistent crude supply (at agreed naira rate) to the refinery and also agree on the margins and prices of refined products from the refinery so that the monopoly in the local market is not abused.

Some folks are now coming up with stories like:
''I bought Dangote Cement at X price in 2010 when dollar was N200, it is now Y price in 2026, only a Z% gain in 16 years after.
" I bought Dangote Sugar at X price in 2016 when dollar was N350, it is only Y price in 2026, just Z% gain in 10 years'' etc, blah blah blah.

Why pick on only Dangote stocks and not apply the same metric to all the stocks listed on NGX, including the ones in your portfolios as well.?

Dangote refinery is likely paying dividend for FY2026. That is always his style.
His public offerings are usually close to end of year, and he offers to pay dividends to attract subscribers.
