You wanted to say from the 70s. Lagos Ibadan expressway, Apapa Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos Badagry Expressway etc

At least Julius Berger is quoted and average Nigerians are shareholder, who are the shareholders of HITECH? Was there any bid for the contracts they won?
God bless you.
Again, most of the major infrastructure construction projects in Nigeria from 1960s were built by Julius Berger:

Eko Bridge in Lagos, 1965.
3rd Mainland Bridge(Phase1 1970/1980s),
New Carter Bridge, Lagos, 1966
Tin Can Island Port (1977),
Lagos Ibadan expressway, 1970s
Apapa Oworonshoki Expressway, 1975-78
Warri Port (1979)
Jebba Bridge, 1973
Repair of Onitsha Bridge (1970)
Lagos Badagry Expressway, 1973-78
Volks Wagen Assembly Plant(1973)
Ajaokuta Steel Plant (1980s),
Delta Steel Plant, 1978-1980s
Jos Steel Rolling Mill, 1980-1983
Abuja Mster Plan Infrastructure
Aso Rock Villa 1989-1991,etc. etc

....The track record in major projects speaks for itself!

The largest bank cannot stay down for much longer, especially seeing the crazy valuations of its peers.

I can’t wait to see the 2025 AFS
Access Bank would blow out in 2026, that is for sure.
I think it usually does about 50-70% of the price of GTB/Zenith

JB had Wike in their pockets from 2015-2023..
Na turn by turn grin
No one really made much fuse cuz they most certainly always deliver on quality and timely to shut out naysayers.

Hope Hi-tech does the same
Julius Berger was established in Nigeria in 1965, beginning with the construction of Eko Bridge in Lagos.
They also built other major infrastructure, like the 3rd Mainland Bridge, Tin Can Island Port, Ajaokuta Steel Plant, the Aso Rock Villa etc.
That is the company some people are comparing with Hitech!
God have mercy!
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 1:28pm On Apr 24
chimex38:
Of course one can't rule out favouritism but it favours all other construction companies one way or another.
But the quality of Julius Berger's works across buildings and roads in different states in Nigeria has stood the test of time and earned it that quality honor by ordinary Nigerians for the most part.
So its raises eyebrow that a novel construction project in Nigeria has no Julius Berger in the mix.
Buy a new name without a famous precedence in Nigeria.

Hope Hi-tech delivers on time and quality. That's the most important thing.
Whomever got the contract award will be a secondary issue in no distant time.
Even some contracts in the North/Abuja axis that were initially awarded to Julius Berger were taken away from them and given to Hitech, with no cross bids, no tender, etc.
My brother, just relax, some people cannot say the truth because of blind loyalty to someone

Argue with this.
Comparing a company with credible German roots, the experience and competence in construction with a company that had none!

No wonder Nigeria is how it is!
Reminds me of when some people said Abacha was the ''saviour'' that Nigeria needed for good governance and all the political parties at the time unanimously endorsed him.
There will always be some useful lots available to serve the interests of some demigods in our country.!
We enjoy the drama!

The same favor that Hitech is benefiting now was what Julius Berger benefited from in the 80s and 90s which makes you think they’re a civil engineering giant. Is it right? No, but What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander!
Julius Berger is the baby of German construction firm Bilfinger Berger AG with solid track record in major construction works, before they started winning contracts in Nigeria.
Can you tell us the track records of Hitech in construction works before Tinubu/Lagos started hobnobbing with them?

Can you tell us when Julius won a contract without a tender, no bidding, no senate approval,, no budgetary allocation etc.?

Dey play, show us the same process for past leaders and in Anambra when Obi was governor
And who says I am for Obi, or Atiku, or Kwakwanso, or Amaechi or Wike or Tinubu?
I don't assess people who are not yet in power as president. I give all of them (including Tinubu) the benefit of the doubt and wait until they become president, before I assess their performance in office!
I don't pre-judge anyone of them. A pupil/student must sit and perform in an exam before you score him ''zero'' or ''excellent''.
The failures of past presidents cannot excuse or justify the failures of the current president. Failure is failure!

I am not aware of a past presdent/govt that took away projects from a credible Julius Berger and handed over to Chagoury Brothers without tender, cross bidding, etc.

Can Julius Berger do a better job than Hitech when it comes to coastal road constructions?
Construction of major roads (coastal or not) is the Julius Berger specialty.
Hitech has no track record in constructing major roads, apart from the ones they got from Tinubu/Lagos state for some roads in Lagos state.

Valid question. I don’t think he has anything against borrowing itself for growth but why not consolidate your finances first before expanding aggressively?
There is nothing like consolidation nor expansion going on. It is borrowing for jamboree!
They are borrowing and awarding dubious, inflated contracts without tender, no bidding, no senate approval, no budgetary allocation etc. to cronies like Chagoury brothers who had no competence nor experience whatsoever in construction.
But all of a sudden, contracts are being withdrawn from reputable companies like Julius Berger and handed over to Chagoury Brothers without any cross bids.

Na under Tinubu's government some people have been blaming that Dangote has been making big moves

The last official cross over night which I attended ( Over a decade ago), that pastor said, the same year you are complaining of things not working for you, some people are questioning why the sudden blessings.

Life is not fair to anyone, learn how to deal with it without nagging unnecessarily
What kind of talk is this useless talk?
Dangote built his refinery under Buhari's regime, and the success story would definitely lead to other investments, whether Tinubu is the one in Aso Rock or not. Stop looking for ways or stories to steal credit where none exists.

Tinubu was elected to fix the economy and resolve insecurity challenges, which he has failed to do.
Tinubu was not elected to supervise or manage the expansion of the businesses of a private businessman into other African countries!

Alhaji needs to penetrate and dominate the market share FIRST, and that is what he is trying to achieve! Whatever else that follows would be addressed or managed accordingly.
It would not make sense for him to invest so much and take high risks, and then lose the market share to some fringe players.

So does this thing being discussed here qualify as tax? Does a one off registration fee qualify as tax? Tax is something government will always come back to collect.
It is an unnecessary and exploitative fee or levy.
Whether you call it tax or levy or fee, the bottom line is that govt is charging and collecting money from people for it which is wrong. Period!

Oga Mike stop making excuse for him. the main problem is someone believing he is the smartest person in the room and pure ego. Even if he is not upstream experienced as at then he has considerable experience in midstream which though might not be equivalent to upstream but could still the called upon and networked to get requisite knowledge. So what about after more than 10 years post conoco, has anything been different??
I also need my dividends and capital appreciation from my shares.
I am only saying the obvious from what I read about how he ventured into oil and gas, but that is not to excuse his responsibility.
Going into a business (with people's money) without the requisite knowledge and experience is even reckless on his part and cannot be forgiven! So no excuses.

However, a single misfortune or wrong move in a highly capital-intensive, risk-laden but lucrative sector like oil and gas, may take several years to recover or even lead to total collapse of a company. e.g. NestOil.
But Wale still has to carry the responsibility to turn things around, very quickly.
