I have never known anything called tribalism. A very senior cleric in the church accused me of removing Christians from decision-making positions in CBN. I became CBN Governor in 2009; the term of the CBN Board of Directors expired. I recommended a board to President Yar'Dua; out of 11 members on the board only 3 are muslims. The Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN which I constituted has 7 members, only 1 is a muslim. A Deputy Governor's seat became open when I was Governor; Dr Kingsley Moghalu was in Geneva. I went, convinced him to come back to Nigeria and convinced the President to appoint him. On our 5-member Committee of Governors(COG), 3 are Christians, 2 are muslims. We have 24 departmental directors in CBN that I appointed, only 8 are muslims. Theses are the people who took the decision on Islamic Banking. The Director of Financial Policy and Regulation who signed and issued the guidelines on Islamic Banking, his name is CHRISTIAN Chukwu. He reports to D-G in charge of Financial Systems Stability, Dr K. Moghalu. The report comes to the COG of 5, three(3) of them are Christians. It goes to a board (CBN) of 11, eight ( of them are Christians. Then all these Christians must be bad christians if they are part of an attempt to Islamise Nigeria. I dont want to engage people. I can discuss this on religious ground. I can quote from Exodus, Deuteronomy and Leviticus. I have quotes on Islamic Banking. I can debate on religious grounds and prove to anybody based on the Bible. In fact, the Natural Council of Christianity at one time said anypody who gives usury should not be buried in a catholic cemetery. I can debate with anybody on religious grounds based on the Bible and the teachungs of the Church that usury is less consistent with Christian teachings Source: THISDAY, Saturday, August 13, 2011 (Page 15) << UNVERIFIED >> |

Na today? Ghana has been beating Nigeria before that player(captain of U-23 team) was born. He should try and ask elderly people who know the history of football rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana before talking rubbish. There has been healthy rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana, but that changed during the first leg of the AAG game in Benin. The Ghanaians complained bitterly that their team, players, fans and officials were maltreated in . The news got to Ghana and their fans mobilised to pay Nigeria back in similar way, but maybe they went a little too far. |

Bakare was talking about the prophecies he gave to Abiola and others regarding the 1993 elections. In other words, he wants people to believe the authenticity of his prophecies/predictions, which are of the miraculous(scripture-wise). Yet, this is the same person that always speaks against and tries to rubbish other churches where the miraculous (healing, deliverance, prophecies) do occur! Hypocrite! |
Hi Virgo, Thanks for the response. Your concerns are well appreciated. In the alternative, this is my number: 08023659766. If you dont mind, you may call and hide your number if that would make you more comfortable. My instincts still make me feell like knowing you better, no harm intended whatsoever! Regards |
Hi Virgo, I really appreciate the clarity and depth of your brilliance/intelligence in your post. I dont mind knowing you better, if you dont mind. My email: mikeabifarin@yahoo.com Regards |
The Bible says 'by their fruits you shall know them'. Is Bakare a real pastor or a frustrated human being who criticizes, condemns, vilifies and complains about every other person except himself. Is he led or called by God or the Holy Spirit, or led by his human senses based on limited logic? How could a true man of God call another human being created by God in His own image a bastard? Did he read the Bible? Does he know the history and life of Moses? Who was Moses' father? Moses was raised up in the palace of Egypt, and he became the leader of the jews CHOSEN BY GOD!. This pastor is so myopic and empty and makes a lot of silly noises! Does he know that God does not consider our family background in determining our future and relevance in this world? Come to think of it, was it not this same Bakare that predicted in 1999 that OBJ would never rule this country, and that the 'messiah' that would deliver the country from the current mess would come from somewhere in Northeast area of Adamawa! Where is the fulfilment of that false prohecy to date? As a man of God, all his actions, words and prohecies should be inspired by God! Did God tell him to contest? Did God tell him what the outcome of the elections would be? Was he relying on God or on his acidic tongue to win elections? Does it mean everybody who did not support his election is a bad person just because he lost? It is clear now to people who have depth of reasoning that we have in our midst frustrated men working as Pastors, and it is not difficult to know them, they are the ones that would abandon what pastoring a congregation means and would start attacking other men of God who are just focusing on the assignment given to them by God. Was this not the same Pastor with his PFN cohorts who criticised and condemned Prophet TB Joshua and Pastor Oyakhilome for no just cause? Now, who are the people showing the virtues of a true christian? Truly, by their fruits, you shall know them! |
N1.4m for a Nigerian used 2003 Toyota Camry? Haba! |
There is something missing here, I am yet to see any analysis/opinion on what happens after successfully completing your studies in Europe/US/Canada with good grades. Do people make good grades in Undergraduate, Postgraduate or PhD and still go about without jobs for months, years and ages after securing a permit, no matter how difficult it could be to get one? |
You must be smoking some strong Igbo. ![]() Because I said Igbos are loved in Ghana, you get upset? Well it is the truth. Flavour and Duncan Mighty get plenty of love. I am not saying that other Nigerians do not get love in that country, because D'banj was showered with love as well. But to hear people around the continent singing Igwe and saying Chineke me, makes my heart soar. I can thank a non-Igbo, Timaya, for also helping to spread Igbo phrases. Either way, tell your brothers and sisters to stop bothering the Igbos. Most of us fight fire with fire. The person you are talking to, fstranger is not redeemable. And you can't consider someone tribalist, if they are mixed with various groups. I am not even full Igbo.
It is a welcome development if other African countries express love for Nigerian musicians. It is normal and not new. But please, do not over stretch the relevance or love for Yoruba/Igbo people in Ghana. The igbo people started going to Ghana only in recent times. The Yoruba people have been settling in Ghana long before the independence of Ghana. Major business like Cocoa farming and other commercial activities etc were dominated by Yoruba people, especially from Oyo/Osun/Kwara axis many decades ago and the Ghanaian people have a lot of names/[hrases/aliases for the Yoruba. Infact Ghanaians did not know there were other Nigerian tribes apart from the Yoruba people untill the late 90s when more Nigerians started trooping back to Ghana. Names/words like Anago or Alata are Yoruba words that were used to describe a Nigerian in Ghana up to today. The Mokola market (the biggest market in Accra) is coined from a Yoruba word ' Mokola'. Many Ghanaians are farmiliar with Yoruba songs of the yester years. In fact places like James Town and Lagos Town in Accra and Kumasi were dominated by Yoruba people. The Ghanaians are genrally kind and loving people, so their love for Duncan Mighty/DBanj should not be translated on tribal sentiments. It is just an expression of their love for the act(music). Yoruba people had a near perfect relationship with the Ghanaian host communities all the while until when other tribes from Nigeria started flocking into Ghana, and all of a sudden Nigerians in Ghana started having a very bad image. If not for the old time good relationship that existed between the mostly Yoruba Nigerian communities in Ghana in the 50s to 90s, the Ghanaian communities/government would have waged a SERIOUS campaign against Nigerians in that country. The Yoruba people are known for living in peace with their neigbours, whether as hosts or as guests. |
There no need for this kind of controversy. All the tribes in Nigeria, including the Yoruba and Igbos are playing active roles in the movie industry(I hate the fake word 'nollywood'). But one thing I want people to know is that the present movie industry we have in Nigeria was created/pioneered by the Yoruba actors, whol started the release of home videos in the early 90's before the it became a big industry. Other parts of the country, especially the Igbo people have not been producing many movies in their mother tongue, unlike the Yoruba who have been consistent over the years. There cant be a movie industry classified as such without the Yoruba actors who actually pioneered it. This is a fact and should be acknowledged by all. |
Hi Folks, I have a friend who has BSc in Accounting plus ICAN, and also registered for CISA. Nobody made him a special envoy. It was his personal decision to pokenose and show himself as someone 'special'. OBJ can never be a special envoy in a matter that Kofi Annan has intervened already. Special envoy ko, special envoy ni |
Guidedee:Thank you, for the analysis above. There is no controversy about who created Fuji Music, except those mischievous ones who do not want to give credit to who it is due. Barrister produced his first Fuji album in 1966. Before then, there was no record or album of Fuji Music in Nigeria. He started in 1958 by playing Were music like others but Were was not a professional thing, it was more of a ceremonial islamic music especially during the Ramadan festive period. People like Dauda Epo Akara, Kiollington and much older people also did. But in 1966 Barrister stepped forward, changed the style, tempo and composition of his music and christened it Fuji. He relased his first album in the same year with King Sunny Ade in 1966 under the same label. I wonder why people say it was Were that became Fuji because Barrister had played Were in the past, but the same people do not say it was Were that became Awurebe because Dauda Epo Akara had played it in the past. If Obey and Sunny had played in the Church as choristers in the past does it mean Gospel /Church music and Juju music are the same? What about other past Were Musicians who later changed to play Apala, Sakara etc? Barrister had been playing Fuji music before he volunteered to join the army in 1968 and also waxed albums while serving in the army, before retiring in 1976 to face Fuji Music full time. He was the one who invited Kollington to join him play Fuji music, and Kollington relased his first album in the mid 70s(I think 1974 or thereabout). Wasiu Ayinde(KWAMI1) learnt the art and act of Fuji music under Barrister, and he had to adopt the name Wasiu AYINDE BARRISTER in order to tap into the huge goodwill, followership and love that Barrister enjoyed/enjoys amongst the public. That was from the early 80s to around 1991/92 when he dropped the name 'Barrister' after having managed to find his footing in the Fuji music industry. K1 even sang in one of his early albums in the early 80s that Barrister is the Fuji creator (where he sang, , meta meta l'Ayinde lo do mi, Sikiru Ayinde, Wasiu Ayingde, , Olorun ma pa Ayinde meteta). KWAM1 later bit the fingers that fed him by trying to usurp the authority and leadership of Barrister, but he was called to order by those who really know his history and that of Fuji music. There is no controversy about who created Fuji Music. Barrister during his lifetime always said that Ebenezer Obey is his mentor, boss and adviser, while Sunny Ade is his close senior friend, and he concedes seniority to those two. To me, Obey and Barrister are the greatest Yoruba musicians of this generation when it comes to composition, originality, wisdom and knowledge. I have been saying this since the 80s. I am a Christian, but one thing that makes me love his talent and creativity more is the ability and ease with which he uses Arabic/Quaranic words to sing beautyfully in his songs. Barrister's artistic composition and poetic delivery of songs with beats, rhytms and traditional dance steps to match is unrivalled. Listen to albums like Oke Agba, Ise Loogun Ise, Family Planning, Okiki, Destiny, Love, Fuji Vibration, Barry@40, Fuji Garbage, Extravagnza, Fuji Dimension, Fanatasia and you would see a rich repertoire of originality and creativity! RIP Alhaji Agba. |
Folks, Does anyone have an idea of getting cars from Lome (Togo)? I understand their prices are much cheaper than Cotonou cars. What charges will have to be paid across the borders before getting to Lagos? |
Something just crossed my mind after watching telly this morning. I remember the ban on telecast of Miracles&Testimonies on Nigerian terrestial TV channels imposed by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) on religious organiszations with the active collusion and conivance of the PFN, apparently because of the wave making healing ministries of TB Joshua and Pastor Chris. But guess what? Turning Point, a religious programme anchored by US based Nigerian, Victor Oladokun has been having airtime on terrestial TV stations like AIT, NTA, Channels TV without any problem. I am not against Turning Point. Infact I believe their programme is touching lives and winning souls, and should be encouraged. The programme shows testimonies of people who assert that they received their miracle and were touched by God delivered from their problems after praying or having a divine encounter with someone or something. The event is then simulated for better understanding of the viewers. In the case of Christ Embassy and especially The Synagogue, real video recordings of the condition of the testimony giver and even the prayer session. Why is the NBC that banned the telecast of miracles/testimonies with authentic video recordings of 'Before' and 'After' situations/conditions of the beneficiairies, including when prayer was offerred by a man of God, could turn a blind eye to a similar foreign programme with only simulation of the story as evidence? How I wish the hypocrites in the Pharisees Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) would complain about Turning Point. Why are they not saying the Turning Point programme would mislead 'gullible' Nigerians who run after Miracles like thay said about The Synagogue/Christ Embassy miracle/testimonies programmes on tv? This shows clearly that the ban on the showing of miracles / testimonies on Nigerian terrestial stations by Nigeria based religious bodies was targeted at Pastor Chris, and TB Joshua especially. It reminds me of the attitude of the pharisees who wanted to kill and silence Lazarus and blind man who whose sight was restored because their testimonies was helping to draw more followership to Jesu Christ. Is it not laughable that a body (PFN)that claims to be a member of religious faith group (Christianity) could collude with an ignorant minister to place a ban on one of the key spects of Christianity, which is testifying to the miraculous works of our God. By their fruits, you shall know them! PFN is a shame! |

Folks, It is highly disgusting the way some so called pastors play God over the ministry of other pastors. Who gave Ashimolowo or the PFN the right to judge, condenm or even fight for God? The Bible and Salvation are spiritual issues, not logic. God does not work accordcing to logic. To ask for TB Joshua's pastor or mentor as an evidence of his Christianity or ministry is just silly and stupid. It shows the ignorance of these so called pastors. Who pastores Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah and Johhn the Baptist? Even Saul was arrested and converted to Paul by God Himself, not by man. The Bible says by their fruits you shall know them. The fruits of the Holy Spirit does include the spirit of jealousy, hatred and rivalry that is deeply entrenched in the hearts of the Pharisees Federation of Nigeria(PFN). A prophet will always cause the rising(of those who believe his message and do the will of His God) and the falling of those who condemn and speak against his anointing. TB Joshua is the nemesis of the fake pastors in PFN |
What Bakare is doing and saying are the hallmark of an unfulfilled, unhappy man. He is not the only one. Okotie is another of his ilk. When God tru;y calls a man to serve Him, He puts His Spirit and Peace in his heart. That Spirit and Peace would not make you speak evil, condemn, accuse and criticize another man of God or even any other man. The Holy Spirit would enable you to carry on with the work of God in a unique and successful manner, while the Peace would help you to be at peace within yourself and people around you, and you would not be always granting interviews in newspapers to abuse or condenm other men of God the way Bakare and Okotie (agents and members of PFN) do Bakare has virtually criticised and condemned every pastor in Nigeria except himself. It is good that it's happening in the miidst of the so called "holier than thou" PFN. They used to have a common enemy in TB Joshua, and later added Pastor Chris to it. The Bible says by their fruit you shall know them, there is no condemnation in the fruits of The Spirit |
