Oh good. How many months will production take and what's the last known info from Nigeria about ghe rooivalk. It is will depend on the ambition. Nigeria has shown interest in the helicopter. Major General Irabor Operation Lafiya Dole's commander was in SA to witness the testing of the Mokopa missile on the helicopter. Witness and enquire about the helicopter. Stuff about endurance, range when airborne etc. |

tdayof: Henry, I am still waiting for your view on the video I posted.
Yes, we have an airforce but I can guarantee you those guys made a distress call that they were under an ambush. In less than 30 minutes, the airforce should have been able to mobilise an attack on those BHT. I saw a video or probably a write-up that the airforce can mobilise an attack within 15 minutes anywhere in Nigeria so why did they neglect those officers? I keep asking why the airforce doesn't come in to rescue officers on ambush. Most of NAF videos are offensive. Are we scared of those jet being shot down? What happened to ECM installations? Still developing doctrine? |

overhypedsteve: F#cking pervert. The worst that ever happened to south Africa in the area of technological development was the fall of apartheid. South Africa under the white supremacist rule was a world player. Militarily and politically. The only African state that took part in the Breton Woods arrangement. I wonder what those guys could have achieved. Priorities. Sanctions and the destabilization policies of the apartheid regime meant the military one way or another had to be well equipped and hold the line until politicians decided to head to the table. South Africa spent over 5% of it's GDP on defence. CSIR is the nucleus of South Africa's defence industry. The missiles, Mine protected vehicles, Helicopters etc have their roots in CSIR. South Africa is still light years ahead of many countries around the world some with bigger economics. Maintaining "above third world country" Research and development capabilities. Regarding the Breton woods arrangement. Field Marshal Jan Smuts was still around(WWII) things changed after his death leading to the introduction of apartheid not that he didn't support segregation policies. He was part of the British war cabinet. It is just a cycle between war and peace. After world war 2 conditions were almost the same as today. |

denel 155 mm gun mated to arjun chassis , this had real potential , even cleared trials , got killed due to stupid law to ban all existing contracts if one contract from the same company is investigated for corruption. this happened in the early 90s.
india has been half killed by the previous stupid and MF politicians and govts .
present govt. is good and they removed such stupid self defeating laws , existing contracts will go through unless part of corruption
hope bhim is revived in better and modern avatar I believe it would be foo..lish for Denel to offer the system to the Indian army again. As it isn't really about offered capabilities. |

africaken254: that the problem with south africa ! your ambition does go farther than your neighbouring countries or sub-Sahara countries.that why i know for sure that south african isn't the future of sub sahara countries,we need a truly progressive sub sahara country to be our leader Business. SADC is currently quiet. Except for mostly countries neighbouring other regions like the DRC. |

africaken254: when south africa deployed its Gripen jets in uganda during the CAR incident, how could they south african's known if chads had also deployed its MIG-29's near its border with CAR Nothing to be worried about. The jets would have been used for patrols, precision strikes, CAS etc. Anyway! Chad has around 2-3 Jets wouldn't affect much planning at the strategic level. Infrastructure. |

africaken254: russia R-27T infrared-homing AAM has no known infrared homing AAM that can be compared with it when its comes to range, also the gripen would have had limited air to air fighting capability due to its bomb load Range of missile is a bit misleading. The IRIS-T SRAAM is one competitive missile in it's class. |

chinese8107: I think the hardest thing is the price, having smart muniton or not is an option, but with $ USD 5-7.5 mn price range and 3 tons payload, very little country can make this. Antonov An-2 An-3,Chinese Y-5 is cheap but payload not enough ,needs to upgrade to use composite material add some contermeasures against MANPADS. the same as Pucara.
It won't be easy,as new plane needs lot of tests, adding to the cost. Not pitching anything not sales person. |

kikuyu1:
Take several seats with your Mwari! There's no way a slow single engined low payload would be used for anything but poaching/border watch ops!! Chinese8107,hold your peace, please.
. It's performance is competitive with aircraft within it's class like Brazilian Super Tucano. Both are powered by a single Pratt & Whitney Canada turboprop engine. The Pucara is powered two less powerful engines. Planned upgrades includes using P & W engines. Regarding payload the Argentine aircraft is only rated at + 6G. The other two aircraft have 5-6 hard points. The Mwari and the Super Tucano will have better sensor systems, EW suites, weapons etc Remember the Rhodesian Lynx aircraft? It is similar(To the Mwari) in design with twin tail booms. Used effectively in light strikes, counter insurgency, airborne communications relay, over watch etc. Armed with rockets, bombs (napalm, cluster etc), Twin 7,7mm machine guns etc. The small arms danger is reduced by the aircraft's capability to carry missiles and smart bombs with a bit of stand off range(4km+). |

kikuyu1: The Arhlac is an interesting design but its design isn't what we need. Its primarily a border watch/anti poaching ops bird not for COIN/CAS. Ok,nemesis2u,here's our task. Buy the Pucara production rights from the Argentines and reverse engineer to the specs below. Idk why but the pic won't show! Anyway no prob. There are different versions of the ARHLAC. The military version is named Mwari. Missiles, bombs (dumb and smart), radar (most COIN planes don't carry one), cannon etc. Wish Denel A-Darter missile or any missile in that class to be intergrated on the plane. Giving it anti-helicopter capabilities. |

giles14: the Russians need to update there air doctrine. is dere d possibility of having stealth missile Pilot training is the reason behind those looses. Russians are way better. Majority of, if not all modern BVRAAMs use active radar guidance. Putting out waves in search of the target mostly in the terminal phase of their flight. Meaning their approach isn't really quiet. SRAAMs mostly use IR seekers meaning they maintain a passive flight even in the attacking terminal phase. This method of guidance operates like an eye though looking out for IR signatures. I believe many air combat kills will still be WVR. |
