agaugust: My pleasure...

"The Oplot is fitted with an integrated vehicle protection system, which includes passive armour , explosive reactive armour array as well as a number of other tank protection devices that are optimised against modern anti-tank weapons and make the tank considerably less vulnerable to the full range of anti-tank weapons.

The armour protection of the Oplot, which includes advanced multi-layer armour and built-in third generation explosive reactive armour package for the turret and chassis, provides to the Oplot a high level of battlefield survivability. The main armour is a laminated ‘sandwich’ of armoured plate and ceramics which gives the tank superior ballistic protection against most forms of attack greatly reducing penetration and behind armour effect."

Enjoy this composite armour before we use it to R.ape SANDF in Dogggy style as destroy ALL South African MRAPS, Olifant tanks, Ratel IFV, Rooikat TD, G-6 artillery......we will bundle Jacob Zuma to Abuja in our T-84 super tank !

.
what's your argument?

The words "composite armour"?

The Mokopa can penetrate 1350mm RHA.

Your vile hatred for South Africa runs beyond the boarders of the thread. At times causing you slip in and live in an imaginative land.

Patchesagain: lol no we wont

You say Nigeria had Tucano's and T-72's last year - and yet it does not show up on SIPRI

in anycase would a responsible person not wait until they can prove they have what they say they have?
Nigeria had T-72 tanks and Super tucanos in their fantasy world AKA beegeaglesblog LOOL #ShowUsTheTucano.

agaugust: One buyer out of 150 countries is NOT smart grin

40 units sale of an IFV that cost millions of dollars to develop, is a near business failure. That is how DENEL entered into debt and collapsed before SA government bailed it out with cash handout grin
.
I wasn't referring to the Jordans. I'm talking about how SA buys/chooses her weapons wisely.

50 Vehicles ordered by Jordan, expect more orders. The Mbombe isn't a Denel product but Paramount's.

This shows you again you analyse information with your fingers on the keyboard not brain.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 10:58pm On Sep 21, 2014
agaugust: Whatever it is IFV or whatever, it is almost another Rooivalk failure...rejected by SANDF because they cannot afford it grin
.
The Badger IFV was chosen. Which is more expensive, and proves that affordability isn't a factor at all.

It might be chosen as replacement for the APC replacement project.

You thought in your standards that the Mbombe is really awesome, and the SA army should run make orders? LOL grin grin cheesy grin grin

SMART BUYERS.

Jordan has already ordered more 40 of them. What failure are you talking about?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 10:43pm On Sep 21, 2014
agaugust: Weapons and Equipment displayed at arms manufacturers marketing show are NOT in the arsenal of SANDF.

Example is your Mbombe MRAP, we see photos of it, but SANDF refused to buy.

Arms Produces Marketing Show =/= Army Armoury

SANDF is busy retrenching soldiers, and postponing ALL weapons/equipment purchases.

ONLY NIGERIAN MILITARY IS BUYING WEAPONS NOW tongue tongue

.
what's this obsession you have on the Mbombe APC? Love it?

It isn't an MRAP.

SA defence industry capabilities. Which forms part of SA defence's tail.

South Africa is AHEAD of all African nations in military tech. What we know about defence companies is that they rally behind their countries during warring times,to sell their weapons.

Vehicles like the Mbombe, are a response to the SANDF projects. The replacement for the Cassipirs and Mambas with new APCs.

It is a defence expo not arms manufactures marketing show.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA:
agaugust: #SANDF IsBroke YouWill BuyNothing New....Only Nigeria BuysNew Weapons tongue tongue

.
Actually No.

A lot of acquisitions, are on hold because of the defence review which might influence on numbers and such.

The money Nigeria is using to buy weapons with, isn't from the military but government.

Stop being childish, before I forcefully feed you another humble pie.

Patchesagain: Another horse in the stable

Denel Dynamics is showing a model of its Raptor III precision stand-off weapon for the first time, in the company’s display outside Hangar 4. The weapon is tailored to a strategic mission against high-value targets, which are often hardened and well-defended.

Like its predecessor, the Raptor II, the new weapon has pop-out wings to extend range. However, the Raptor III is aerodynamically cleaner with its systems being housed within the weapon body.

Other systems, such as infrared seeker, have also been improved. The programme is currently in the development stage.

Raptor III is a long-range (less than 300km) weapon that can be programmed to fly a variety of flightpaths. It is guided by jam-resistant GNSS (global navigation satellite system) and inertial navigation, with optional low-light TV or imaging infrared terminal-phase seekers.

Automatic target recognition algorithms allow the weapon to identify its target and guide itself to impact with a circular error probability of less than 3m. Blast/frag and penetration warhead options are available.

Attack profiles are best planned on the ground for optimal mission planning, but the Raptor III has a datalink for in-flight target reprogramming. The weapon can be fully integrated with an aircraft’s fire control system, or linked to the carrier’s system by wireless transmission.
I prefer this systems over -200km range cruise missiles.

As they're far cheaper.

SAAF still has need for such weapons. Coupled with aerial refuelling any Sub-saharan African country hoping to distabilise any SADC country, will sure know a strong punch from the South is coming.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 6:51pm On Sep 21, 2014
If South Africans behaved like Nigerians.

And I was post the pictures I took and links for new weapon systems revealed at the AAD,some Nigerian would collapse and die of hatred.

From the Badger IFV,new UAVs,New MRAPS,New missiles etc

Patchesagain: interesting

I wonder if the development of a ground launcher for the Uhmkonto for the GBADS program will be halted to allow the adoption of the Marlin

Either way, a Valour Class cruising about with 16 Uhmkonto and 16 Marlin in the VLS tubes will be a hell of a keystone in fleet air defence
The Umkhonto is part of the sable. Talk about a ground launched variant of the missile(Marlin) I think came from the Brazilian need to have a ground launched radar guided missile.

To sought of attract them into the programme,as for Umkhonto wouldn't offer much technology transfer. Cause a radar version development will focus around the seeker head, boosters and warheads. Meaning it would really be unwise for the Brazilians to call for joint-dev.

The was talk of the ground based launchers(containers) to have different "Umkhontos"(radar,IR,IR Extended). To avoid using expensive missiles like the radar version against helicopters or worthless aircraft 10km or so away.

All that needed is to upgraded the missiles to area defence.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 4:29pm On Sep 21, 2014
Patchesagain: Joint project with the Brazilians would be nice.

They have their own TTD which they also shelved and their Leo 1's are getting old.

Could be another fantastic co-operative like the A-Darter
The A-Darter is simply waiting for the air force to order it,putting the project into the industrialisation and production phase. The defence review might the reason holding the order.

Collaboration should on the Marlin BVR missile which is reported to going for tests next year. http:///nkDFO1yYHj

andrewza: Even every SF operator can car a impi tracker that can hook up with link ZA and be tracked, means when he needs support it will arrive where he is. Even the Navies Xena boats are linked with link ZA and the xeana base can track them any where. Every new radio purchased by the SANDF must be LINK-ZA compatible
Every deployed unit has a tracker.

Soon if he needs support,he'll just press a button and his message will appear on the Chaka C2 software. Where the commander is sitting.

CNIS is standard, other equipment include ISTAR stuff procured under Project Cytoon.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 4:20pm On Sep 21, 2014
andrewza: if we buy new we may as well just build the TTD

The TTD had German Leopard 2 technology. Including the 120mm gunm
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA:
Henry120: You have no Data links.

You only got 10 half-french helicopters for a 471, 359 sq land mass. Fact. Pathetic limousine airforce.
I'm not surprised by your wishful thinking, and fantasy world sentiments.

Link-ZA is part of the Combat Net Interoperability Standard(CNIS),introduced as part of the 98 defence review along with Gripens,Hawks,Submarines etc.

Every Gripen,Valour class frigate,Oryx etc is tracked using Link-ZA during operations, unlike some whom jets vanish under their noises.

"You don't have a brain cause we can't see it",type of argument you're putting up.

Regarding the numbers of the Rooivalk,The Test Flight and development centre(TFDC) where one Rooivalk is stationed is part or a unit of the South African Air force.

The South African air has 11 Rooivalks. The SANDF doesn't hoard equipment,as part of aircraft life span it'll will be upgraded, integrated with newer avionics,EW kit and weapons.

With that in mind one airframe is kept at the centre. Like a true military.

Unlike your rebel force, grappling to deal with ill trained boko boys whom continue to "chop your land" like Cameroon did with the Bakassi peninsula. grin grin grin grin grin

Patchesagain: How could he?

How dont you understand that Dangote is nothing on our economic landscape

We are busy buying up AFRICA
when it comes to exports,we are dominating SADC. This is not the case with Nigeria in ECOWAS.

Nigeria isn't dominant in her region like we are in SADC. SA is a regional power on the move,to further consolidated our continental leadership. While Nigeria is isolated and on occasions her neighbours "chop her land".
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 6:33am On Sep 21, 2014
Henry120: You only have 10 half-french helicopters for a 471,359sq land mass. Pathetic.

Deliveries for nigeria's 40 have already began.
Our defence force fights as a system not through individual units. That's we have MIL-STD data links and EW kit.

And further increasing training of junior officers. And funding projects like Legend.

The 11 Rooivalks are part of fleet of more than 60 helicopters. Again you dreamt SAAF has 11 Rooivalks, keep your wet dreams to your self Mr.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 10:39pm On Sep 20, 2014
Henry120: You perfectly described south-africa. After all, you only got 10 paltry half-french helicopters for your limousine airforce.

When Nigeria buys, you know, we buy.

Nigeria recently ordered 40 attack and transport helicopters.

"DAILY POST
25 July, 2014

In a determined effort to eliminate terrorism by routing insurgents from their hideouts in parts of the North East and North West once and for all, the Federal Government has placed purchase orders for 40 helicopters for attack and transportation from the United States and Russia, DailyPost can report.

Reliable security sources confided in PRNigeria that some of the helicopters will arrive the country as early as next month, while the remaining will be received certainly before the end of the year to boost the Nigerian Airforce."
The SANDF has a Rooivalk attack helicopter squadron. 11 Rooivalks.

No standards in Nigeria. 40 helicopters?

I can find a article online that claims such with SA,NO HARD evidence.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 9:25pm On Sep 20, 2014
Henry120: These are old orders. We've also been receiving these T-84 OPLOT -M MBT's from ukraine for a while now. We just haven't mentioned it because we wanted to have concrete proof with it.

Now run along, go hit your head on the wall.
From which company?

Ukraine has been using MBTs meant for foreign armies, like DRC upgraded T-55s.

NO standardisation. No military industry to back.

agaugust: 400 SANDF in Lesotho, 400 in Burundi, 1,300 in Congo DRC...total is 2,100 men, no tanks, no jets, no artillery, battles last only few days.

Go show the size of your SANDF wars to the 30,000 Nigerian soldiers in North East with tanks, artillery, jets, etc in a daily 4 year long battle of endurance and dare devil courage against an enemy that is mixed up with civilians.

AU was right to put SANDF under Nigerian command !
.
In North East?

BH didn't have that strength 3 years ago, they become powerful at the presence of your army.

Numbers to us don't matter, since your army is failing with such numbers.

SA has no forces under AU command.

Henry120: Going by the fact you ran away from Seleka and C.A.R, I wouldn't expect any less from SANDF.
Where? Tell us the place and time did SA soldiers run during the battle.

Here are facts:

On Friday.

1. Around 2:30 Seleka announce on AJ that they're at the gates of Bangui and Damara is behind them and the last barrier is the South Africans.

2. Around 4-6pm saffers are engaged.

3. Until Saturday morning Seleka still unable to capture Bangui

4. Only 200 men receiving no supplies, reinforcements and APCs.

700 dead insurgents in 3 days of fighting is very impressive. Civilians don't attack army positions.
There's no such thing.

Infantry soldiers that carry less ammunition are mechanised guys. The moment your soldiers stop firing to get ammo, they'll be shoot and killed. In a semi-conventional battle.

Besides Nigeria has massive shortage of APCs.

700? While your casualties are downplayed?
